Some Nigerian troops discovered a terrorist’s bomb making factory in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said troops on a cordon and search operation found a large quantity of Improvised Explosive Devices including those commonly used by suicide bomber.

He said the troops are currently evacuating materials which include a large quantity of suicide bomber vests from the facility to their base.

He said some of the group converted some of the materials in the factory, located in a fertilizer company, for production of all types of IEDs

Mr. Olukolade, a major general said, “It is believed that the heavy calibre bomb used in blowing up the bridge between Damaturu and Buni Yadi was produced in the factory.”

He added that troops advancement to the site was delayed by the series of IEDs planted on the highway leading to Buni Yadi. Four soldiers died from these explosions during the operation.
The Defence spokesperson said the discovery is expected to degrade the aptitude of terrorists in the production of explosives, which they have been using lavishly in the area until they were dislodged from their stronghold.

Good work, I think we need to search every resident with the bomb detecting device. I hope the people will allow that.

We need to separate from the North. We cannot continue to waste lives and resources to fight the Islamists just to keep Nigeria one. What are we getting together to do, just to share oil? The North will continue to drag us back as long as we are in bed with them. What a waste.

The military used to have an archive where events complete with pictures, location, date and references were displayed. If it still exists, I advise that details of this and other military operations be held there for the education of future generations of unborn Nigerians. I am hugely disappointed by the lack of knowledge of Nigeria’s past history as exhibited by those of us born after the Nigerian Civil War. There are not enough books that capture these events, because most blacks do not read once exams are written and jobs landed. I am aware that most of the information referred to are held in the NTA archives and perhaps by other TV stations but are released selectively, especially when it is conducive to use them in attacking perceived opponents of the government that sponsor or pay their bills. Or when the time comes for praise singing. The NTA in particular must be held responsible for a whole generation of Nigerians who know little or nothing about their country’s history. I hope the find at Buni Yadi and other such historical events do not go to dust. Let’s begin to grow a truly great nation…
