APC slams Fani-Kayode for Osinbajo ‘resignation’ allegation

The Presidential Campaign Organization of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has lashed out at Femi Fani-Kayode and the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, for alleging that their vice presidential candidate had taken an oath to resign six months after assuming office.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Dele Alake, Director of Strategic Communications of the APC presidential campaign described such claims as a “product of an infantile, wild imagination of a convoluted, distorted and warped mind.”

“That the message came through Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode who, just a few days ago, was brought to answer corruption charges, makes the message incredulous,” said Mr. Alake.

“The whole world knows the other reasons for the incredulity of any message delivered through him. However, to the uninformed, there is no iota of truth in such allegation.

“In the APC, we do not indulge in oath-taking, pact-signing and such other rituals that the PDP establishment is adept at. Such PDP-induced Okija scenarios have no place in the APC.”

Last Friday, Mr. Fani-Kayode, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, alleged that Yemi Osinbajo, the APC vice presidential candidate, had sworn an oath to vacate his seat should the party win the forthcoming election.

According Mr. Fani-Kayode, who is facing money laundering charges before a federal court, the APC’s national leader, Bola Tinubu, nominated Mr. Osinbajo as part of “plans to come to power through the back door.”

“Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins,” said Mr. Fani-Kayode.

“The wicked plot, as laid out by them, is to force Osinbajo to resign for Tinubu to be nominated by Buhari as his replacement.”

The APC Campaign described Mr. Osinbajo, a Professor of Law, as “a thorough-bred, accomplished professor, teacher, pastor, mentor and preacher who is nationally and internationally acknowledged as a man of probity, integrity, transparency and competence who can never be part of such inanities.”

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his part, is the foremost national leader of the APC who has achieved an enviable, political status, fame and stature. He has gone far beyond using subterfuge to attain any political position,” Mr. Alake said.

“It is widely known, globally, that he has been pivotal in midwifing the most potent and formidable opposition movement that has become the nightmare of the incompetent behemoth called the PDP, and to the delight of Nigerians, the desired change they are waiting for.

“Having lost substantial ground politically and seeing the inevitability of an APC victory at the polls, it is the. PDP that is strenuously engaging in all kinds of subterfuge from hurling personal abuses and attacks on Buhari and Tinubu; to election postponement antics; to evading elections at all costs and even the unfashionable idea of foisting an interim government.”

The APC accused the PDP of attempting to generate crisis in order to make the elections “difficult if not impossible.”

“Unknown to its campaign machinery, these gimmicks portray the PDP as deep in conclusive disarray,” Mr. Alake said.

“Indeed, the fact that the PDP campaign machinery can construct a post- presidential election scenario in which APC would be in power is a significant testimony of their admission that they have lost this election.

“We note this mental and psychological concession of victory to our party’s presidential candidate but reject the odious scenario Nigerians should please ignore this latest antic because it is untrue, ridiculous, ludicrous, mundane and jejune.”

    Dele Alake needs schooling on when not to talk in public

    Dele Alake likes big title, free money and delusively thinks he’s convincing hollering.
    The three vices a thinking person should avoid – because they’ve belittled him so far.
    First, big title sets a high expectation he’s never met as a self-described ‘strategist’.
    He does not know when to talk; what to say, the logic to knit, or the facts to weave.
    Once seen as a bloody liar in 199 on Tinubu’s false University of Chicago certificate,
    Dele Alake lost it; and lost credibility alongside. He should have faded off since then.

    Since 1999 nobody in Nigeria pointed out a ‘strategy’ in anything he’s ever done.
    Whereas, silence is really the best strategy whenever one farts at a high table.
    Once Bola Tinubu demanded that Pastor Tunde Bakare sign a post-dated letter
    of resignation as Vice President, well before the election, the APC farted in public,
    and Dele Alake should be now wise to just shut up for that’s the best wit to deploy.
    A notorious robber can’t be credibly defended as innocent over a fresh robbery.

        “We are not surprised by the denials of the APC in this matter.
        They are and will always be a party that is built on lies and headed by
        liars. This is graphically reflected by the first name of their party
        spokesman who is known as LIE Mohammed.

        APC is a party that is used to sordid, bizarre, byzantine and subterranean
        back-room deals where people take blood-chilling and cultic oaths and in which
        people are asked to sign perjurous and illegal letters of resignation even
        before they are elected into office.

        If anyone doubts that they should ask Pastor Tunde Bakare who was asked to sign
        a letter of resignation by both Tinubu and Buhari in 2011 even when he had not been
        elected to the exalted position of Vice President.”

      Ahead of the Presidential election in 2011, Buhari, CPC and ACN leaders came up with the idea of an alliance that will see both parties join forces to contest against GEJ and PDP. The meeting had CPC chairman, Tony Momoh, ACN chairman, Bisi Akande, ACN presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu, CPC presidential candidate Buhari and his running mate Tunde Bakare, Bola Tinubu and other excos/ leaders of BOTH parties and their loyalists. Despite ACN controlling 6 states (Lagos/Oyo/Osun/Ogun/Ekiti in SW and Edo in SS) and CPC in charge of only 1 state (Nassarawa), Buhari insisted on running on the platform of his party- CPC. Some conditions for the alliance were:
      (1) Ribadu would step down for Buhari since Buhari had a bigger supporters’ base ;
      (2) Buhari would run as the candidate of CPC-ACN alliance against GEJ & PDP;
      (3) Buhari would give ACN the VP ticket as compensation and reward for the SW votes;
      (4) Tunde Bakare would step down in case the alliance worked and they succeeded in defeating GEJ in the presidential election;
      (5) the preferred ACN candidate to replace Bakare would be a Christian from the SW (like Bakare)

      Since the presidential election was barely 2 weeks away and according to the electoral laws, Buhari couldn’t replace his running mate, it was agreed that Bakare should sign the post-dated resignation letter ONLY to accommodate the nomination of an ACN member as VP to Buhari in order to fulfill the agreements of the planned alliance.
      Bakare sensed that a lifetime opportunity of being the VP was to be taken away from him by his party (CPC) and ACN so he declined to sign the supposed postdated resignation letter. This led to the collapse of the alliance negotiations, CPC and Buhari went into the election with Bakare as his running mate while ACN and Ribadu continued their own presidential campaign with Fola Adeola as his running mate. As a result of the collapse and with 3- 4 days to the presidential election, GEJ reached out to Tinubu and ACN for SW support and votes which led to GEJ winning in all ACN-controlled SW states except Osun and coasted home to victory.

    THE ISSUE OF THE POST DATED RESIGNATION LETTER WAS AGREED BY THE EXCOS AND LEADERS OF CPC, ACN (TINUBU INCLUDED) AND BUHARI and not between Tinubu and Bakare as being falsely peddled by PDP, FoodForKayode (FFK) and their uninformed followers. It is not true that Bola Tinubu demanded that Tunde Bakare sign a post dater letter.
