“Explain your links with Jega,” PDP challenges APC

Olisa Metuh, Spokesman, PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has challenged the All Progressives Congress, APC, to come out clear and explain to Nigerians the links between it and the Chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, which informs and propels its feverish fixation and huge interest in his stay in office.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Saturday said it is more than curious that the APC has continued to fabricate stories and show undue interest on Mr. Jega, adding that such raises a lot of questions for the opposition and the INEC Chairman.

“Undoubtedly, the frenzy, hysteria and spate with which the APC has been inventing stories regarding Prof. Jega’s stay in office even when nothing suggests that such was on the table, raise a lot of issues.

“We ask, is there any underlining issue or arrangement between APC and Prof. Jega which the opposition is hell-bent to protect, informing its anxiety and apprehension towards his stay in office?

“While it is noted that the APC is a party of one week, one lie, we in the PDP look beneath the surfaces to the deeper issues propelling the lies. We therefore challenge the APC to come out clean and tell Nigerians the real reason behind their false alarms and uncontrolled nervousness regarding Prof. Jega ahead of the 2015 general elections.

“Finally, we wish to remind the leadership of INEC that Nigerians are monitoring its activities and series of unfolding political events ahead of the elections, and will not accept anything less than the conduct of credible, free and fair general elections come March 28 and April 11, 2015”, the party said.

  • Victor Gee

APC is no longer making it a secret that Jega represents their interest in INEC. It seems that if Jega goes APC will lose the election in a free and fair contest.

  • Yusuf Ahmed

The truth is bitter, let them tell us what they have in common period.

  • Anene Mercy

What APC should clamouring for is a free, fair, transparent and peaceful election and not whether Jega whose tenure has ended with his terminal leave starting on March should stay or not.

  • Eniola Adeola

The bad eggs won do not want the progress of this polity will be disgraced one after the other just Jega.

  • Etang Chris

Oga Metu, thanks for this question u raised to APC. I was wondering why they have so much interest in Jega even when the same Jega has shown clear incompetence in handling the forthcoming election. An election where he compromised and wanted to conduct on 14 Feb with intention to defranchise millions of voters.

  • inuwa kate

APC has become an enemy to free and fair election in this country. The manner they are protecting Jega shows that Jega must gone into alliance with them. Jega’s character and actions so far seem to justitify the suspicion. His method of distribution of PVCs suggests pro APC. He favoured APC pro regions like north and introduced frustrated and very difficult method in south.

To me Jega can not be a judge in his own case. He is a card carrying member of APC and no longer trusted to be an umpire in this election. He should step aside for the most senior INEC officer to conduct the election.

    • Tonnero

Na your papa be the most senior INEC official? Will you people stop at nothing to bend the rules and win by hook or crook? When you bring down the house, I pray that it is you and your children, if you have any, that will carry it on their heads. Useless fifth columnists.

  • danjuma

Jega to me is a principled man and highly stricked. But the way he is going about this election suggests that APC may have used juju on him. He is no longer the Jega I thought he is.

Tinubu is highly occultic and believes in Fuji charms, I don’t know how he was able to cast spell on Jega. The same spell he cast on Fashola, that makes him take home about 3 billion naira monthly from Lagos purse while Fashola looks the other side.

The same spell that made him nominate all the Lagos state elective candidates in this election for APC including Ambode and not even a slot left for Fashola.

Jega is under the same spell. He needs help but not as INEC chairman.

    Let him go.

    • Muktsa

Guess it’s you under a juju spell.

    • Tonnero

An accusation of the use of Juju is not admissible in a court of law. Next accusation please.

  • sammyctu ode

metuh why can’t you people in pdp talk about your programs for Nigerians instead of devling on useless issues? As far as Nigerians are concerned, its pdp who is bent and opposed to everything INEC does. pdp postponed elections, pdp do not want the use of pvcs, pdp do not want the use of card readers, pdp wants TVCs to be used and so many useless stuffs. Desperate criminal party who have lost the election and most of you will end up in jail when GMB assumes office.

    • onyekaokorie

Are u so daft that u do not know what Mr president has done that made many nigerians to stand behind him in this election.

      • Tonnero

You mean many Igbo right? All most non-Igbos want is free and fair elections. You Igbo e-rats will support anything as long as it settles your pocket and denies your enemies (Yoruba, Hausa, Moslems) power even if that thing is clearly illegal and wrong.

  • onyekaokorie

When APC penetrated Sanusi he compromised and started attacking the same govt he was a senior member. When he was eventually sacked, they compensated him with emir of Kano.

I don’t know what they promised Jega. But he should better leave now before he plunges Nigeria into avoidable crisis.

    • eddy

They promised him ur head! That is if u can remove it from jonathan’s azz!

    • Tonnero

Igbo man. Thinking with his stomach and his heart instead of his head as usual.

  • Ologun David

The credibility of this election is already in question. Jega is no longer trusted by some stakeholders especially PDP. It will be better for a neutral person to conduct this so that the outcome will accepted by all.

    My advice though.

    • eddy

And be honest… with Gej the person to appoint, do u think he will put in someone who is fair? Or will he put in someone who will do what he wants?

    • bib

Jega was appointed to plot a way for elections in Nigeria to become credible by the best practices. He has used his professional calling in political science to fashion out the processes. He has brought in Permanent Voters Card and Card Readers which shall make rigging impossible. It is on seeing this stonewall that PDP being addicted to rigging elections started thinking of the way out.
They say TVC should be alowed to be used, Jega insisted on the use of PVC only.
They tried to use their rubber stamp(the senate) to discredit the Card Readers, Jega demonstrated their usage to them and won their approval
They now say the use of Card Readers were against the electoral act, Jega said they should go to court.
So while PDP wants to win by all means Jega wants a winner to emerge by credible means. To PDP that his stand is a crime. Do you agree with PDP?

  • Segun

I have to stand by the comment and contribution of Ologun David. Let a neutral person conduct the election. We want peace especially after the election, since is no longer trusted, he should do the needful to save this democracy.

  • charles peters

God is dealing with APC. I am grateful for chief Metu as he has kept informing kept us informed about the shenanigans between APC and Jega.

We are vigilant now. Up GEJ.

  • ayo

Any Nigerian with ability to deeply reflect on issues shall never be in doubt about the evil fraternities, between jega and APC leaders.jegas almajiri dance of shame this days is as a result of evil bewitchment and satanic indoctrination of jega by APC leaders.that old jega known by Nigerians had been thoroughly undermined by APC and has become treacherous and mischievous and a big disappointment to Nigeria.jega must now bow out in shame having betrayed the trust on him.

    • Abdul

shut up, PDP can chose not to participate in the coming election, they are not the only party in Nigeria, this wahala from them is too much. what is it.

  • Citizen

your immorality is very disgusting and disheartening, u should be answering why u appointed him in the first place and why u want him removed at the last hour. If u have no intention of removing him then u should leave APC to the shame of time, but meanwhile, most of the things they alleged come to pass without even shame from the PDP which makes everything they say very important to those it affects. If u have God, we will beg u in the name of your God to let us be in this country; we have seen enough of this bizarre immorality

  • Titi

if a neutral person such as the CJN is appointing the so called neutral INEC boss then its a fair play, but if u are asking Jonathan to appoint a new neutral person when the neutral person he appointed 5yrs ago is no more neutral then u are just an ordinary clown; what u are planning is easier said than done

  • TC

No one said anything in 2011 when he conducted elections, only someone who lacks common sense or basic intelligence will fall for this allegation. PDP, (Pinocchio’s Deceitful Propaganda) why the fear? ……. Hungry e- rats

  • Anene Mercy

Jega was appointed to be an in biased umpire, not APC agent.

  • Anene Mercy

Jega was appointed to be an un biased umpire, not APC agent.

  • Goodluck_Nigeria

JEGA SHOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT LONG AGO

I insist that Jega should have been kicked out long ago when he registered APC despite matters in Court and despite obvious irregularities in their application for registration.

    • Abdul

Go and kick him out na.

    • Tonnero

Oloshi. This must be Ijaw/Igbo democracy you are quoting here. Why did you not kick him out when he declared your useless Dumbo president in 2011? Bunch of dictators masquerading as democrats.

  • Sanmi Falae

PDP will inevitably self implode by turning against themselves as they seem to be throwing the last few arrows left in their quiver. They started with blackmailing Mr Buhari and when that didn’t work, they moved on to scare mongering and when that didn’t stick, they tried abuse of state powers of the president and when that failed, they resorted to outright lies and when they are found out, they changed gears to conspiracy theory. When they run out of failed CHILDISH IDEAS that they think would yield them an excuse to scuttle or rig the election, like the ‘children’ they are, either they go for broke and resort to violence or turn against themselves. I sincerely pray the latter. Well meaning Nigerians really need to watch and pray, as we have adults with the mind set of children on our hands, in the PDP.

    • NoMoreKindergartenPresident!

Election defeat is approaching PDP faster than they have ever imagined. They want to change the umpire in the middle of the game. It will not work because this election is a referendum on this incompetent, corrupt and lazy GEJ who is only interested in the title of the president but not the duties.

  • Eniola Adeola

    Jega is compromised

  • Joe

The relationship between Jega and APC is a replica of the relationship between ACN and Salami. APC cannot survive without making a supposed umpire agency to compromise their roles to favor them.
