Obasanjo not a statesman, northern group says

The Northern Emancipation Network, a non governmental organisation operating from the northern part of Nigeria, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tearing of his PDP membership card publicly as non-statesmanlike.

The group said Mr. Obasanjo has, by his action, set a bad precedence.

Mr. Obasanjo had on Monday ordered the PDP chairman in his ward to tear his membership card.

Mr. Obasanjo then declared he was no longer a politician, but a statesman.

However, in a statement signed by its National Leader, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, on Wednesday, the northern group said by ordering the shredding of his PDP membership card, Mr. Obasanjo only succeeded in making himself appear like a motor park tout.

“As a direct beneficiary of the opportunity offered by the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Obasanjo ought to have respected the sanctity of the party’s membership card,” Mr. Suleiman said.

He said the public should not see Mr. Obasanjo as a role model but as a direct enemy of Nigeria.

“The nation should note that Obasanjo is only pursuing a personal dangerous agenda for the setting up of an Interim National Government which he hopes to lead.

Must Baba obasanjo remains in PDP before he is accredited or accepted by thugs of politics to be a statesman? If he tore APC poster what would you call him?

  • Awarawa

By tearing the membership card does not pronounce him as not being a member anymore except our educated SW want to teach us otherwise. PDP in Ogun state did the right thing by expelling the man. Legally, he did not withdraw his membership card but he was dismissed.

This PDP group not Northern group.

why do u say so, Bcos they are not supporting buhari’s godfather?

This is how an ‘elder statesman’ behaves.

“Former President George W. Bush explained Thursday that he has avoided publicly criticizing President Obama because he feels it would undermine the office of the presidency.

“I don’t think it’s good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president; I think it’s bad for the presidency for that matter,” Mr. Bush said Thursday evening on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Mediaite reported.

The former president said that, though he follows politics and is “very aware of what’s going on,” he has no interest in generating headlines for himself by bashing his successor.

“Secondly, I really have had all the fame I want,” he continued. “I really don’t long for publicity. And the truth of the matter is in order for me to generate publicity I’d have to either attack the Republican Party, which I don’t want to do, or attack the president, which I don’t want to do. And so I’m perfectly content to be out of the limelight.”

Mr. Bush is currently making the media rounds to promote his new book, “41: A Portrait of My Father,” which he calls a “love story” about his dad, Former President George H.W. Bush. OBASANJO IS MERELY A GREEDY MAN

Great research for great minds to appraise. But you know the cow-heads we have to put up with. Theirs is what obtains in civilized society does not apply here, because we must be in the 12th century mullah culture where sharia is supreme. Take the case of Bokjo Haram as one example. Can you imagine an ass-wipe who aspires to the presidency tells you that war against moslem terrorists is war against the North. He even tells you that it should be none of our business if Northerners want sharia and cut off limbs of their sharia law convicts.
That is the nature of the specimen this hypocritical, self-styled “statesman” called Obasanjo would want to “install” and impose on us. I don’t see anything statesman in this pervert except a primate in an unending, acrobatic somersaults to attract the limelight to himself.

  • Ibrahim zubairu barde

I think, it is some PDP members who said that on their on, but not on behalf of the Northerners.

  • Usman

Please mr. Suleiman kindly keep quite, who are you representing in the north? The Namadina wing of the PDP or what? To us, OBJ has been a statesman

  • Garden-City Boy

“Statesman”? Is someone kidding me?. All I can see is a caged STATEBONOBO.

  • Maitama Tambari

Abdul Azee Sulaiman, how much did you collect from them to smear Arewa on illogical statement. First President Obasanjo, having heard that PDP Ogun State was going to sack him from the party, he threw away the party’s card, symbols of membership to preempt the Party’s action on him, and the Chairman of the Ward presence, picked it up and shredded it. President Obasanjo is a Stateman in this World because he is among the World Statemen that United Nations call upon once in a while in finding solution to hot spots in Africa. President Jonathan would never have the previllage of this noble call to international service. President Obasanjo was key to bringing down Apartheid South African, as member of the Contact Group and many more services to United Nation. DEMBO would never have such a previllage because of the level of his performance.

It is not just ideological affiliation that describes the nature of a man but the manner in which he chooses practices it. The issue is not that he left PDP, the manner in which choose to leave. His method is very unstatesman-like. #GEJ4Naija

  • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Obasanjo is a monkey. He is not fit to live among human beings. And, for sleeping with his son’s wife, the dirty old basta*d should be castrated.

      You are a confirmed omobastarrd.

  • Rekiya Hassan

OBJ your sins have found you out. If he had just stopped at supporting the opposition party, it would have been fair but publicly tearing your membership card is only a sign of ingratitude. This is just a case of biting the fingers that fed one.
He has not acted maturely but its his decision, but Nigerians wont support any creation of any interim government whether under his leadership or not.

OBJ third term agenda is still alive. That is why he is very vocal these while and trying to show how he love Nigeria. The old man has never forget the water bend he putted his daughter-in-law. He want to go back to immorality.
