Olu Falae’s party, SDP, adopts Jonathan as presidential candidate; Gov. Aliyu forgives Buhari

Olu Falae

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Tuesday in Abuja endorsed the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan in the Feb. 14 presidential election.

The National Publicity of SDP, Abdul Isiaq, said this at a news conference in Abuja.

He said that the party reached the decision following the report of a committee set up by its National Executive Committee on adoption of presidential candidates.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the National Chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae, had hinted of the party’s decision to adopt a presidential candidate.

He said that the development followed the inability of the party to produce its own candidate for the office.

Mr. Isiaq said the committee, in the report presented to the National Chairman of SDP, observed that of all the presidential candidates, only that of the PDP formally requested the party’s support.

He said that the committee also observed that PDP had also accepted the SDP’s required conditions to warrant the party’s support.

Mr. Isiaq said that part of the conditions was that PDP would faithfully implement the 2014 National Conference report as a basis for restructuring Nigeria.

Others, he added, were adoption of policy of zero tolerance for corruption and intensification of efforts to defeat insurgency in the North East, among others.

“Based on the foregoing observations, the committee has unanimously recommended that SDP should endorse and support the candidature of Jonathan.

“This is to enable him to complete the restructuring of the polity based on the report of the National Conference 2014.

`”The party has accepted these recommendations and hereby directed all its supporters and members throughout Nigeria to vote for Jonathan’’, Isiaq said.

Mr. Isiaq, who was also the Chairman of the committee, however, stressed that the support was limited strictly to the presidential election.

According to him, it does not extend to any other elections, adding that the SDP has candidates for other elections.

“SDP is determined to contest and win all the elections for which it has sponsored candidates throughout Nigeria and thereby become the credible alternative which it aspires to be.’’

Meanwhile, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger on Tuesday said he had forgiven the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, for truncating his political career in 1983.

Mr. Aliyu stated this at the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign in Minna

“Many people think I have sympathy for Buhari, my career was truncated by him. In 1983, the people of Minna elected me into the House of Representatives, but he truncated it.

“I was annoyed before but I have forgiven him because it gave me opportunity to go for my masters degree,” he added.

“Buhari may be honest and we may admire his personal qualities, but that does not translate into public qualities,” Mr. Aliyu added.

He called on members of the party not to be intimidated by the opposition, adding that victory was certain for the PDP in the elections.

Mr. Aliyu commended President Jonathan’s revolution in the agriculture sector of the economy, adding that agriculture would soon replace oil money.

Olu Falaye & Segun Osoba are now a disguised PDP members ,indeed water no get enemy. Who doesn’t know these mushroom parties are sponsored by PDP from beginning to reduce influence of APC in SW.
Awon Agbalagba , Alatenuje , welcome to your political sunset. You will all see that u have have been standing on Banana peels, your political fall/ disgrace will be so painful at your old age .

    • Hah!

      … I wonder!

    • Taiwo

Now the Hungry politicians in the SW are now showing their true colour. They will say Matagbamole, but agbalagba to so agbado modi, o ti so ara re di alawada adie.

      • King Carlos

        Hmmmn. Otitò oró

    • VOTEoutGEJ!

Olu Falae with his one and one quarter eyes is clearly not seeing well

  • Ay Pointblank

Falae is an expired drug. He cannot control even his own family members. These are the type of people giving GEJ false hope in order to collect money from him. God will shame all of them!

  • Dele

I was almost deceived to support SDP in Ogun State. Now I know that SPD is under the umbrella of PDP.

    • Taiwo

Yes o. With this, they have lost Ogun State and the whole of SW totally.

  • Maitama Tambari.

Babangida Aliyu. What did you in 1983? Chameleon changes its color in relation to its environment. Niger State must have now seen the reason of what happen to you in 1983 not to talk of Federal Service where you were smuggled into it. Speak the truth. CHANGE! YES WE CAN.

“Muhamadu Buhari had clearly and unequivocally stated in public that he was committed to implementing Sharia
law all over the country (Nigeria). Buhari’s background as a former member of the military, reared in the regimented
tradition of giving of orders and unquestioning obedience of such orders as well as his antecedent as former head
of the federal military government inclines and acclimatizes him to absolutism and autocracy with the danger it poses
poses to the emergence of a constitutional dictatorship if elected. We are fully aware that Jonathan’s Administration
has not seriously addressed the core promises and commitments made to Ndigbo during the 2011 election campaign.
Inspite of this, it’s in the best interest of our people that he be re-elected.”

    …………Igbo Leaders of Thought

[Statement issued by its Secretary, Prof. Elo Amucheazi]

    (30th January, 2015)

    • Ukpaka

Take your ignorance to another forum. You disgust me.

    • VOTEoutGEJ!

GEJ brought so much hardship in Igbo land that Ndigbo had to breed and sell their own babies for survival. This would not have happened under president Buhari. The late Dora Akunyili would have testify to this fact

  • Ukpaka

Olu Falae lost his son in a plane crash in 2013 and I remember him blaming the crash and all the problems in Nigeria on the “SELFISHNESS” of our leaders. He said our leaders see themselves and their family first before the good of the country. He went on to say the plane crash would not have happened if not for the greediness and selfishness of the nation’s leaders.
Now, 2015, he’s endorsing same leaders he condemned. What a way to honor his son, Deji. Some Naija have incurable disease.

    • Onike24

Please don’t bring Deji into this please, please, please. Attack his father, if you wish, express disappointment if you wish, but keep his late son out of it, please.

      • Ukpaka

Mister man, this is fact. Take it or leave it. I made reference to what he said and when he said it. If you want to dwell on the reference to the tragic event, that’s your own.

        • Onike24

I am not a man, but for me that is crossing the line, I have no idea why Olu Falae would support PDP, I really truly cannot understand it, but your reference to his son, who was a childhood friend of mine and a truly wonderful, humble person, is not right. You are entitled to condemn him, I daresay there are enough examples of the incompetence of PDP without needing to refer to a senseless and tragic accident.

          • Agent Blanc

point. true words. let’s leave the dead out of the matter

  • D.A
    • David Adeniran

They are actually AFENIFEBI. Too bad that they have so transformed.

  • David Adeniran

One of the reasons why Falae’s party adopted Jonathan as their presidential candidate is because of Jonathan’s “adoption of policy of zero tolerance for corruption.” These are certainly comedians!

  • Sanmi Falae

Shame that Olu Falae has eyes but can’t see. By the way, I am not in any way related to him.

    • Mosaku 147

Do you call his half past one eye, eyes? You dignify him.the old waste is simply blind, period.

  • Mosaku 147

a wo badan bi eni wo Oyo. Shameless kagustar.Oldman without brains.

    • Maria

      lol!

  • dave

SDP is a subsidiary of PDP,it is not a news that they are adopting Jonathan.

  • Comfortkay

Chief Falae is not relevant in Yoruba Nation and it is a pity that some elders among the Yoruba nation don’t put themselves in a position of respect.

  • Maria

Falae will never learn his lesson. Out of his mischief, greed and support of fraudulent people, his son was sacrificed. This old mammal is a disgrace to the good people of Akure.

    • El_Komo

You people really know the scum this Falae of a man truly is.

  • hummm

oohh, we are so scared that a man with a party of 2 members is endorsing a fellow looter. I wonder how much Falae took to sell his soul. Always remember that your sins will live through your children, especially when you dont do right by the suffering masses of Nigeria.

    • El_Komo

A year later, we now know it was N100m he collected.

  • Ette

The party was bankrolled by GEJ to distract APC so let no one be surprised. Mission has failed woefully as GEJ is seeking for endorsement from parties of less than 20 members and those who are ready to take bribe. Shame.

    • El_Komo

      How prophetic.

  • chemy

the only difference between PDP and SDP is the S which has now revealed its true form as a P hence, SDP has become PDP.

  • King Romeo

Why are you APC apologists scared? SDP would win the Governorship election in Ogun State. Osoba is the Man.

    • El_Komo

You see how useless it is to predict when you can’t even see tomorrow?

  • Ayelala

Olu falae is a typical hungry agbaya. I guess he has squandered the $25 million wealth he accumulated under IBB.

  • King Carlos

Now Osoba’s true colour us now showing. That was how he fell for the trick Obasanjo used to rig them out of office in 2003, yet this man didn’t learn his lessons. They do all this out of selfish reasons, without caring that the people of Nigeria are suffering. Awon onijekujè, alatenùjé, olóju kokoró. With all the money th3y collected from Jonathan, they can never be on the same level with APC.

    Hmmmmmnnn… Osoba disappoint mì.

  • Omo Akin

It is time for Osoba to come out and say if his group is part of this endorsement. It is unthinkable that the Osoba group will be part of this, but you never know with these politicians.
Falae had been a hustler after spending all the money he made under Babangida and then the evil genius out-maneuvered him and the others. His selection for the AD/ANPP ticket was what gave him a breather, but that was a long time ago too. It is not a surprise if he is into this, especially that the President visited Akure recently.

  • nikoroorire

Falae is a bread and butter politician while he remains the juggernut in SDP his late son (May his soul RIP) was a Commissioner in Mimiko’s Labour Party. Hence, he has no politcal identity; he is an AGIP (Any Government In Power ) man, so nobody should be surprised.
