APC Campaign asks Okonjo-Iweala to speak up on missing N30 trillion allegation

Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, APCPCO, has challenged the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to speak up on the allegation by the former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, that N30 trillion is missing under her watch.

In a signed statement in Abuja on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, APCPCO condemned the blanket of secrecy surrounding the transactions that led to the wanton waste of the country’s scarce resources under the Jonathan administration.

Mr. Soludo had, in an article titled Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Missing Trillions, alleged that about N30 trillion was missing under the minister’s watch.

The former CBN chief said he felt pained thinking of what the money could do for the people.

“Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala should speak up on this allegation of epic proportion. She has the responsibility to give account of the management of the nation’s resources under her watch,” Mr. Shehu said.

“It is not enough for Okonjo-Iweala to boast of rebasing the economy and declaring it the largest in Africa, without a concurrent reduction in poverty and unemployment or infrastructure development in the country.

“It is ironic that rather than tackle the accusation from Soludo, the Finance Minister has been canvassing a stance in the media that Nigerians should brace up for hard time to come as the economy is nose-diving.

“Only last year, the workforce of several MDAs could not receive their salaries to celebrate the Yuletide season due to government inefficiency. A recent African Union report also alleges that billions of Naira is illicitly taken out of our economy annually.

“Thirty trillion naira will fund the generation of 22,000 megawatts of electricity, which is well in excess of the current national power demand of 15,000 megawatts, among other pressing needs.”

Mr. Shehu assured that the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, if given the mandate to pilot the affairs of the country wiould wage an unrelenting battle against corruption and wastages in the system and that the recouped monies would go a long way in funding some of the initiatives of an APC administration.

        • oluwaseyi mayowa

thanks for advising him, they are paid kobo kobo by Liar Mohammed to infiltrate the online media and spread falsehood and insults

  • oghenena

Give Soludo a piece of paper let him write 30 trillion numerically as a sanity test to start checking his health status.

    • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

I bet you that unemployed job-seeker will probably miss a few zeroes in a trillion.
The fact of the matter is there is no missing kobo and this would reflect negatively on the federal coffers. These addle heads should find better topics to use as campaign slogan. This one failed woefully.

  • King Carlos

I beg on all Nigerians. …. PLEASE LET US GIVE APC THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMPRESS US. Please, there’s nothing left in PDP.

APC talks about fight against corruption and impunity. Fron the running of their parties, it’s obvious that APC understands governance better than PDP. Even though a lot of PDP members are now in APC, it doesn’t change the fact tgat APC is different. We have nothing more to lose, it can’t get worse under APC. We all know Buhari, he’s not a man of many rich friends. Please let’s just take this risk.

    • oluwaseyi mayowa

It is only you and your few frustrated gang of economy rapists like Tinubu that will take such risk.Nigerians are saying a loud NO to expired drugs merchants.Things may not be uhuru yet but the man we know now is still far better than the devil that was jailing innocent people for 102 yrs,a man who forged a certificate and scored himself f9 in mathematics will never rule Nigeria in this age and time

      • Truthometer

Why are you so bitter? Bitterness don’t win election. Vote for GMB!

        • Olu from South Africa

@oluwaseyi mayowa (creek monkey) is frightened knowing fully well end in sight to his free daily meal. Let him scream from now till February 14 and he shall scream no more.

  • Dazmillion

This debate is simple. If Soludo is wrong with his figures then NOI should gather her personal assistants, which I hear are numerous, and write an articulate report, breaking down the numerical figures that show clearly that Soludos mathematics/statistics are completely wrong.

I mean how hard is it for an economist like her to prove Soludo wrong in an intelligent manner devoid of name calling. This line of action is what I expect of NOI at this crucial election time. I mean she will be doing her boss a big favour by showing that public perception of him as being totally corrupt is wrong.

    • Bunduma Mohammed

….and Ngozi is a criminal that would run to America to avoid prison in May 2015.

      • Dazmillion

She better run with her fat legs

  • Truthometer

Eeemmm……eeemmm……eeemmm……. That is all she can say. Vote for GMB!

  • oluwaseyi mayowa

APC Nigerians are still waiting for you to speak up on why your presidential candidate’s certificate was forged and to clarify us on his health status. What about the issue of debate?if you won’t come to the debate organised by others why not speak up on the challenge thrown to you by the PDP to organise your own debate and the president will come?.Gang of frustrated confusionists seeking to market an expired tablet to the Nigerian people

    • Bunduma Mohammed

People who have certificates from MIT and others have stolen the country dry. Therefore, Nigerians have resolved to vote the king of transparency whether he has certificate or not. Vote GMB if you are not a clawn.

  • taiwo

I watched the Lagos state Governorship debate organised by LCCI. In his opening speech,Ambode proudly said he became a graduate at the age of 21,reached the peak of his career at 37. He said the desire to horn his skills led him to Kennedy school of governance. He listed a consultancy firm he founded after he left civil service. Quite impressive CV for a governorship candidate. Jimi Agbaje too has a more intimidating CV. Both success stories are role models for the youth. Now , let me ask again, are certificate and personal development not really a criteria for anyone aspiring to rule 21st Nigeria?

  • Bunduma Mohammed

Ngozi should also tell Nigerians why she was removed from EMT by OBJ. Was it due to curruption?

    • Olu from South Africa

The answer is emphatically YES! YES! YES!

  • Hmmmm, this guy does not have facts at d tip of his fingers at all. I now wonder how APC is able to cope with him. Madam Ngozi let everyone know why some Agencies salaries were delayed in December due to some new measures that Government just incorporated to curb corruption that had actually ruined some system. It is this that edged those agencies out especially as regards Ghost workers until they were able to sort themselves out with the exact numbers of staffs they have in their establishments. Pls, let us all work with these facts

  • prince

My take away is that things are not working in Nigeria. Many of us should not be where we are today, the Nigerian economy has led us to this. Plus or minus 30 trillion, this shows lots of leakages in the coffers of the Federal Government of Nigeria. So, for me the minister should come up with facts and not emotional laden texts that will not do the economy well. Nigerian youths are suffering seriously. If this trend of corruption propensity is not stop or checked, generations after us will be in bleak situation if not doom.
I belief, we need a break from PDP at least for the next four years. We need to use other Nigerians at the Federal Government level. We need to change our profile as a Nation.
There is an urgent need to do away or move away completely from the Dangote, Otedola, Jimoh Ibrahim of this worlds to new sets of genuine entrepreneurs.
