North should start grooming Jonathan’s successor for 2019 – Ahmadu Ali

President GOodluck Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo

The Director General of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Ahmadu Ali says the Fulani socio-cultural group – Miyyetti Allah, the Yoruba socio cultural groups – Afenifere, and Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, have all endorsed the re-election bid of President Jonathan.

Mr. Ali said this at the campaign rally of the PDP on Saturday in Kaduna.

“We should tell ourselves the truth, Miyetti Allah, Afenifere and OPC have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election”.

He said the North should start grooming a non-dictatorial leader who is between the ages of 40-50 to take over from Mr. Jonathan in 2019.

“I want to tell my fellow Northerners to start grooming a 40-50 year-old candidate that President Goodluck Jonathan will hand over power to in 2019 and not a dictatorial leader who attempted to kidnap my friend late Umaru Dikko. Is that the person you want to vote for? God forbid!” Mr. Ali said.

Ahmed Makarfi, a serving Senator, in his remarks said the PDP “will use our power of persuasion to ensure that, PDP is voted on the 14th and 28th of this month.

“I assure you that by this persuasion and consultations by the Vice President, the governor, many stakeholders and I will deliver Kaduna state to PDP,” he added.

I pity the aliens of Nigeria called Igbos, after all the worship for PDP, here is it loud and clear that PDP will return power to North in 2015, if at all they make it in FeBuhari 14. And we in APC that will win the election come FeBuhari 14 will pass the baton to SW the Yorubas who had sacrifice their ambitions to support Buhari for change. I really pity them. Buhari 2015-2023, Yoruba Man (possibly Ambode) 2023-2031.

    • Ukpaka

My brother….you read my mind! Our people are the dumbest in Nigeria and I said it. I am waiting for dumb Igbo people to throw insult my way but I have deadly responses for them when they do. Igbo always put themselves at a disadvantage and then be the first to complain about being marginalized. Pretty soon they will learn the presidency is earned, not given by turn. With Johnathan insisting on running for another term, the Igbos had a unique opportunity to back Buhari overwhelmly and be rewarded with a vice presidential ticket. APC would have done that easily because they would not want GEJ to take both SS and SE. But just like we have done in the past, we are counting on GEJ to hand over to Igbo man in 2019. Well, there goes another blown opportunity. Igbos you heard it well from Ahmadu Ali: PDP’s presidential ticket goes to the North in 2019. You can’t say you didn’t know. It’s here in Black and White.
Buhari will do some 4 to 8yrs and it goes back to SW for another 8 yrs. That’s 16yrs. After that, it goes back to the North. Let’s see how my Igbo people gets a president in our lifetime.
While other ethnic groups are fighting for political supremacy and the good of their people, Igbos, especially the AKA Ikenga and Ohaneze will pay nocturnal visits to GEJ to collect money. They might plead for their friends to be given ministerial positions…something that benefits the individuals and their immediate families. What does an average Igbo person get? Nothing…you guessed right. I feel so sorry for newer generation of Igbo who will live under the state of inferiority for years to come.

      • NamesAre4Tombstones

What is this obsession with Presidency. Only lazy people think this way.

All the decades that North has been president, what have the people of the North gotten in return? Illiteracy, Disease, Hunger and Beggars, Islamic fundamentalism and superstition, and now to crown it all off – Terrorism.

Is that a record to be proud of?

And of all the years that their Yoruba sidekicks have been given opportunity by the Hausas to rule, the Yorubas still cannot surpass the igbos. Despite a civil war that destroyed igboland and killed 3m, the igbos are still the most successful tribe in Nigeria, with higher average income, higher human development index (HDI), and lowest unemployment than all other major tribes.

A people who are individualistic and think for themselves (Igbos) are the most intelligent, because their efforts and energy results in the benefit/progress of many. A people who can be herded like a flock of sheep (Yorubas and Hausa) are the least intelligent because all their energy and efforts result in the benefit/progress of their elite.

Look at Abuja, the Northerners moved the capital of Nigeria to abuja, yet if you go to abuja, all the beggars are Northerners and Igbos own all the property there. Billions and Billions of $$s worth of real estate, from malls to estates to parks to markets. And they achieved all this while Hausas and Yorubas were busy being President.

Is Obama not President of America? Can you compare the Blacks in America to the Jews in America? Presidency is the obsession of lazy people who cannot compete in an otherwise level playing field, so their elite us it to prosper at the extent of the masses.

        • Otile

God bless you. Let them take their presidency and let Igbo have prosperity.

This is how a government suppose to work. Please read for achange,
On a to-do list that includes world peace, one chore U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry missed is going to cost him personally — to the tune of $50.
After this week’s blizzard dumped 2 feet (61 centimeters) of snow on Boston, Kerry failed to have the snow shoveled from a portion of the sidewalk at his red brick mansion in Beacon Hill. That’s a finable offense, even if you are fourth in line to succeed the leader of the free world.
Kerry had a pretty good excuse. He was in Saudi Arabia attending the funeral of King Abdullah with President Barack Obama. Spokesman Glen Johnson told Bloomberg News that Kerry would pay the fine.
Boston caught up with its famous scofflaw through a social- media application called “Citizens Connect,” which allows residents to take a photo of snow that isn’t removed and send it to the public works department.
The offending patch in question is on the side of his home. That portion was missed by the neighborhood association’s contractor because police tape had been strung up to keep pedestrians from being hit by snow falling off roofs.
The contractor concluded that the tape must have been up for security reasons and moved on, leaving the snow, Kerry’s office said in a statement.
“Once they understood they were allowed to enter the area, the contractors finished the sidewalk late Thursday morning,” the statement said.
            Hydrant Moved
This isn’t the first time Kerry’s luxury Boston digs have made news. He lives with his wife, ketchup-heiress Teresa Heinz, in the exclusive Louisburg Square section Beacon Hill, the one- time home of poet Robert Frost and American revolutionary John Hancock. In the late 1990s, she was ticketed for illegally parking in front of a fire hydrant. The couple later had the hydrant moved around the corner, according to an Associated Press report at the time, upsetting preservationists of the historic neighborhood.
Kerry’s home was built in 1899 and is valued at $15.5 million by Zillow Inc.’s real-estate website.
Kerry is back in Boston today to host a meeting with Mexican Foreign Secretary Jose Antonio Meade and Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird.

          What prosperity? You mean slavery?
Niger bridge will be built and the igbo’s subjected to paying tolls for 25yrs….why?
A government that said that 4yrs is more than enough to provide uninterruptible electricity ….but after 6yrs in office, he says no government can provide electricity in 4yrs. Under this government, Igbos were slaughtered in record numbers in the North. Before you blame the northerners, your president took the oat of office to protect all Nigerians. All he does is to issue statement: I condemn this act…..
Does Obama protect only people from Chicago? Even the native people from North East are suffering from Boko Haram. Why would GEJ want to remain the president when he has nothing to offer to solve these problems? I know the sycophants around him know that with him as the head, they can go on with their embezzlement.
While I don’t care about the ethnicity of the president, as long as the president is doing well for the entire country, I am just tired of Igbos always complaining about being marginalized.
Another missed opportunity. I don’t want what you describe as prosperity. You can’t be fighting for Igbos.

        • abc

I really agree with you on that, I believe having president from your tribe means nothing, but only to the wise who knows what they are doing. I came up with the idea based on the Igbos believe and agitation for the number one seat, which I think is not necessary for development. When Yar’adua was the president of Nigeria my watchman was from his village and know Yar’adua family very well, and that doesn’t makes me to increase his pay. Isn’t that funny.

        • James Breen

Brilliant comment. At last, someone talking sense.

      • James Breen

Reading all these comments here demonstrate a sad testimony to the ignomy and banal nature of Nigerian politics. Since I was a boy all I have ever heard was who should be president of Nigeria ? Should it be a Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba or Igbo. So does that mean that an outstanding candidate (male or female) from another tribe would never have the opportunity to contest for the presidency ? So that eliminates the Calabars, Efiks, Ibibios, Urhobo and so on. Unbelievable ! So the big three tribes just wish to share the wealth of Nigeria amongst themselves. Well let us look at the record so far. We have had a Hausa presidents/head of states and Yoruba presidents/head of state. Nigeria still lacks major infrastructure 55 years after independence. How many trillions of pounds/dollars/naira have been lost, stolen, squandered, embezzled during that time. The idea that you run a country based on tribe, not on the quality of candidates and their programmes is quite simply absurd and medieval. Before anyone starts calling me naive, many countries have parochial/ethnic communities. So what we really have is the major tribes agreeing to share the nation’s assets on a calendar basis and once they have pillaged the country during their four year term they will hand over to the next tribe.

The problem with Nigerians is that there are very few people who are prepared to look beyond tribal allegiances. Personally I would support a candidate of any party, from ANY tribe who can, improve Nigeria’s chronic infrastructure problem, address the issue of unemployment, upskill the population, create better homes, provide effective and regular utility services, manage the economy efficiently, provide welfare support for those in need, support small business to access markets locally, nationally, regionally and globally, enable the development of women, create an efficient health care sector and services, support our agricultural and commercial industries, engage our entire communities (including the elderly and our traditional rulers) to participate in the nation’s development, regenerate our cities, towns and villages, use our assets to build a strong economy,

These are the issues people should be debating, not the tribal ethnicity of future presidents. Our electorate have become so polarised that the issue of what actually happens in the country becomes of secondary importance, in favour of the ethnicity of the President. Unless there is a sea change of thinking and Nigerians of ALL tribes think with pragmatism the country will undoubtedly lurch from one parochial crisis to another, shedding its assets (people) whilst we are weakened globally. Be not in any doubt; the fact that we have oil does not make us any more respected on the global stage. It merely demonstrates that outsiders can come into Nigeria and make money and depart. Nigeria’s asset is not OIL or minerals or natural resources. Nigeria’s asset is its PEOPLE. Please remember this when you have your internecine debates about which region should take the presidency.

    • NamesAre4Tombstones

On the contrary, what the Igbos have done is actually smarter than what the Yorubas have done. The people who produce the wealth of this country that feeds you and your northern illiterates can safely say that their future belongs firmly in an alliance with the igbos. While the Yoruba have once and for all alienated themselves from all the other tribes in the South.

The Presidency, of a country that might not even survive the next one year, is worthless compared to the trust, friendliness, compassion and alliance between like minded tribes and neighbours. Believe me, the yorubas will be the biggest losers in this outcome. Let me explain to you.

Everybody in the SS/SE understand why the North are supporting Buhari, and the people of the SS/SE do not see anything wrong with their reason, it is a sound reason. Yaradua died, and the North lost their turn, and they are eager to get back in the game. So no problem. You can say what you like about the North, but one thing is clear, you always know where they stand on any issue, they are no backstabers or cowards and this is why despite not being too friendly with them, other tribes at least respect them.

The Yorubas on the other hand, have completely lost the goodwill in the South (their own neighbourhood) by slavishly following Tinubu to the depths of hell and irrelevance. Sure even if Buhari wins now, then what? Yoruba will be President, and then give it to Hausa again, and then Yoruba again abi? Well I have news for you, you will be doing all that in your own brand new country that does not include one drop of South South oil, or one iota of the Igbo man’s resourcefulness. Let’s see how that lovely country of yours get’s on shall we.

Ewoooooo wetin Mr. Ahmadu Ali -director Goodluck Jonathan Campaign talk? Did he just say or imply the Igbos under PDP should wait till 2027 before we can have an Igbo as President? Did anyone miss that? Just for its sake, if we want to do basic ethnic calculation just for its sake, I had always thought that the interests of the Igbos are better served in ending President Jonathan’s rule in February 14th. Since the Yorubas do not want anything other than having a federal system and fair playing ground for their liberal minded middle class to grow, and by extension also contribute to the growth of a competitive liberal middle class minded Nigeria the Yorubas will not ask for Presidency after Buhari. It just does not mke sense. All the Yorubas are asking for is a fair and equitable playing ground for all of us. So? After Buhari, it makes sense that an Igbo should be president-and a female Igbo for that matter so that we use one stone to target so many birds-achieve a fair ethnic “calculation” so to say and a fair gender calculation, a gender calculation which will clearly show that Nigeria is moving with the rest of the world. This is a healthy and highly productive conversation some of us will initiate because some of us cannot wait to have a female Nigerian President. And personally I see a potential one already coming from the Eastern part of our country. Do not ask me who. We all know who this good and potential female president from the East is if we get things right with Febuhari 14th. !!! And conversations of this sort will go on within APC on how to sort that out and even shorten the period. I am not saying anything other than that this is what makes sense within APC and this is what many of us will push. But if some Igbos do not see this correct APC line and they cannot decode Mr. Ali and PDP and their body language, then I wonder what may be going on. I just wonder. But I think Mr. Ali’s comment is in bad taste, it is NOT in the nation’s interest and the Igbos need to do a lot of re-think as we Nigerian Voters DECIDE on FeBUHARI 14th. I am sorry this is the first time I will talk in ethnic terms. I am doing this because I intensely reject Mr. Ali’s proposition and implication for having our President coming from the East (again this is just taking the advantage of talking in geographical terms which I do not do) to and PDP’s body language on this. We cannot wait that long Mr. Ali. Also, I say this because my own reasoning here is what the APC and we Change agents and vessels should be thinking about NOW and pushing in APC through the proposed APC Democratic Institute- the intellectual and thinking faculty of APC! Sai Change oyoyo! God Bless!

  • ABUBAKAR A.

AHMADU ALI HAS YOUR PARTY PREPARED THE RESULT OF FEBRUARY 14 ELECTION ALREADY LIKE YOU DID IN THE PAST???????? THE WAY YOU ARE TALKING SO CONFIDENTLY LOOKS LIKE THE RESULT HAS ALREADY BEEN PREPARED. REMEMBER THE STATEMENT OF TONY ANINI THAT SAID EVEN IN THIS COMING ELECTION THE PDP WILL DO WHAT IT KNOWS BEST THAT IS RIGGING. AHMADU ALI, YOU ARE ONLY EMPHASISING THE STATEMENT OF TONY ANINI.

Jonathan prepared ground for Ndgibos in Nasarawa State when he set PDP policy of handing over, not by election so to say, somebody below 60 years of age. Today Ahmadu Ali crudely said the North should prepare somebody between 50-60 years. All these lies is capture votes of those willing to be deceived because of poverty. Anyway, Namadi Sambo, David Mark, Aliyu Babangida, Isa Yuguda, Lamido and Shema shoul start thinking of what to do next or forced themselves into the Senatorial Chamber. Ahmadu Ali can cajole Middle Belt Region, the Core North has already made it bed. CHANGE! YES WE CAN. Enough of lies.

Lol, with this statement, PDP have shot down igbo aspiration to be president. They can start preparing for 2027 when opportunity to lead will present itself again. I dont know why igbo leaders will keep selling their opportunity for contracts and patronage to the detriment of igbos.

So by PDP calculation, Jonathan if he win will be there till 2019, then a northerner will be there from 2019-2027, maybe SW will give the igbos a run for their money in 2027. LOL.

What campaign rally is the PDP Ahmadu Ali talking about? Where is the crowd that came to welcome President Goodluck Jonathan on the Kaduna State soil? Please, show us the huge crowd. Probably, only a few hired thugs appeared at the political rally. Do you people remember when GMB visited Kaduna? There was no enough room to accommodate all his well-wishers. This goes on to show who is really for the TALAKAWAS and that Nigerians are desperately eager for better a NIGERIA headed by GMB! Nigerians are sick and tired of thievery, robbery, embezzlement as well as the practice of tribalism, nepotism, favouritism and so many other negative PDP features. Time for change has finally arrived and I hope this time my fellow Nigerians will not waste it. Vote for change! Vote for the future of your children! PDP has been in power for more than 16 years and during this time all that Nigeria and Nigerians encountered and experienced is total regress of the nation. May God protect Nigeria and Nigerians from further PDP atrocities and calamities! Amen!!! With PDP in government, Nigeria definitely is head to self-destruction. The situation in Nigeria reminds of Ntsasa’s poem “MOTHERLAND” which goes as follows:

In the country of my forefathers,
    Economy is friendless and upset,
    Politics is sleeping with labour,
    Justice is seducing foreign crime,
Poetry is turned on, but it fears,
    Traditions keep history hostage,
    Religions are attempting suicide,
Nature is busy biting its tongues,
Fruits are swearing at their trees,
    Education shows God axis finger,
    Seas get shallow, graves deepen,
    Life confront its first nightmares,
Death is satisfying its final desire,
Future is stinking nothing but lies.
