PDP behind attacks on President Jonathan in Katsina, Bauchi — APC

Lai Mohammed

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has pointedly accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of sponsoring the attacks on President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina and Bauchi as part of its devilish plan to demonize the opposition and force a postponement of next month’s general elections.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said the coordinated hysterical reactions to the attacks by the presidency, Senate President, David Mark, and the leadership of the Ijaw nation have exposed the sponsors of the attacks.

It said those who have gone into a frenzy in condemning the attacks should direct their anger at the PDP, which hired the hoodlums who attacked the President in Katsina and Bauchi and gave them brooms to make them look like APC supporters.

”Information is now in the public domain that these attacks were self-inflicted, with the aim of demonizing the APC and instigating retaliatory attacks in the southern states, thus precipitating chaos which the PDP and the Presidency will then use as an excuse for the postponement of the elections

”Apparently they did not envisage that the information about their complicity over the attacks will leak to the public. It is common knowledge that the security around the President is such that no hoodlum can come close enough to pelt him with stones,” APC said.

The party said the Presidency distorted facts when it accused the APC of breaching the Abuja peace accord that was signed by the presidential candidates of the various political parties, saying the PDP and its band of thugs did not allow the ink with which the agreement was signed to dry before they started breaching it.

”The second attack on our offices in Rivers took place after the pact was signed, just like the serial attacks on our supporters in Sokoto, organized by a PDP stalwart in the city and aided and abetted by the police. The death-wish-for-Buhari advert by the incautious Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State in the name of President Jonathan, which could have triggered unimaginable violence if not properly managed by the APC, also breached the agreement.

”Where was the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, when all these breaches were taking place? Not once did he issue a statement to say ‘This nonsense must stop’.

”Where was the Senate President, David Mark, when these breaches were taking place? He was never on record as condemning the attacks on the APC offices and its supporters or the irresponsible and downright repugnant advert by Gov. Fayose. Are those in the opposition not Nigerians who also deserve the care and attention of the nation’s number three citizen?

”Mr Senate President, sir, if any party is guilty of ‘despicable desperation’ as you claimed, it is your party, the PDP. Which party has been using all the cheap tricks in the books to postpone the elections at all cost? Which party has been sponsoring attacks against itself to demonize the opposition and force a postponement of next month’s election? Which party has deviated from issues and become fixated on the person of the APC Presidential Candidate, savaging and lying against him at every point? Mr. Senate President, remember the saying that he who must come to equity must come with clean hands.”

APC also slammed the self-serving, self-styled leadership of the Ijaw nation for vowing retaliation over the sponsored attacks on the President in the north, and threatening the very existence of Nigeria if President Jonathan is not elected into a second term, wondering where in the world threats have ever won an election.

”The last time we checked, elections are won and lost by the votes of the people, not by infantile threats. The last time we checked, no onebis guiltier over attempts to undermine the oneness of Nigeria than than some self-styled leaders of the Ijaw nation. Had they been duly prosecuted and punished in accordance with the laws of the land, they would not have dared to continue threatening the nation’s existence, even as those saddled with the responsibility of preventing such threats look on,” the party said.

APC appealed to its members and supporters nationwide to continue to maintain peace in the face of the most egregious of provocations, in order not to play into the hands of the PDP and the Jonathan Administration who are incredibly terrified of the forthcoming elections and will do anything to make sure it did not hold..

”As we were writing this statement,. news filtered in that the venue of our rally in Okrika in Rivers State was attacked with an explosive device in the early hours of Saturday, even though no one disrupted the First Lady’s campaign there earlier in the week. Also, soldiers have taken over the state-government owned stadium in Port Harcourt after beating and expelling the workers there, in a disgraceful show of force by an increasingly desperate and despotic federal government. Yet, there has been no word from the Presidency, the Senate President and the leadership of the Ijaw nation.

”Now that the antics of the PDP have been exposed for the world to see, we are once again calling on Nigerians and the international community to prevail on President Jonathan and his party to desist from its plot, using the excuse of violence and PVCs, to shift next month’s polls. If President Jonathan is sure he has utilized the mandate given to him by Nigerians in 2011 to their satisfaction, he should be eager to know the verdict of the citizens come Feb 14th 2015,” APC said.

Even if this man, called Lie Mohammed, has all the support of ALL APC members throughout the length and breadth of Nigeria, does it mean he has no grown up adult, children, relations or friends who could advise him to mellow in all these bogus lies that he tells always? It is shameful, for a man of his age, because of what he thinks to gain for serving his paymasters in the APC, then throws decorum into the winds, and continues to engage in total falsehood. This Nigerian brand of politics is truly dirty! Shame on you Mohammed.

    • Dr. Kay

What make you think he’s lying? Methinks Lai is on point and PDP orchestrated the shameful stoning . We still waiting to hear people had been arrested .

    • Onyx

Now lets reason together in a common sense and objective manner (away from sentiments) Come to think of it, is it possible for anybody to go near president security details not to talk of people now throwing all sorts of things at him and no single arrest has been made? Is a common sense question oo! And besides that, How come it was only in Katsina and Bauchi that he was attacked what happened to the rest of the northern states he has been to? Is also a common sense question oo! Am not in support or against Lai Muhammad, but let’s just try and look things from the perspective of all the trendings concerning this election relating to “PDP” Am sure u are aware and keeping tab on everything, from cancer to certificate to age to Islamic bigot etcetera and recently the statement from NSA Dasuki when u now add one to one together it gives u (11) eleven instead of (2) two now multiply it with lai Muhammad analysis Am sure u will come up with something, either with common sense or senseless. It’s ur call..

PDP is just too desperate. APC offices in river state were bombed, no single statement from PDP. Yet APC condemned the self inflicted attack on jonathan.
Asari dokibo has been spitting blood and fire, yet the fed govt, DSS, Police, ijaw leaders look away.
Is it coincidence that the attack happened in PDP controlled state?
PDP is running out of steam now, they want to postpone the election.
Nigerians are more ready and prepared than before for change

  • Jika

May God almighty see us through a peaceful election.I pray that whoever emerges through peaceful means will work for the whole country and it’s progress.I also pray that whoever emerges as the president will work towards diversifying the economy and make it less dependent on a single commodity. It is equally my prayer that, all regional, religious, ethnic and cultural champions will have no place in the future of a prosperous Nigeria.May God give us the BEST who will work for the INTEREST OF ALL.Amen.

Senseless talk from a useless Lai Mohammed.

    • TRUTH MASTER

You are one of the most irresponsible, crude, rude and uncouth commentators on this forum. You write from a depth of personal and corporate animosity, and a platform devoid of reason and logic. Instead of abusing Lai, why did you not just canvass your own argument and let others judge? Abuse must never replace a decent discourse, especially in a public forum!

      • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

You are another deranged APC animal. You are from the pit of hell.

Some people are professional liars.Lai Mohammed is good at lying. The attacks on the president’s convoy inn katsina and Bauchi and the burning of his campaignn vehicles in Jos were done by PDP,Also the banning of the president from using the Rivers state Government owned Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium is possibly by the PDP.Meanwhile all attacks on APC offices anywhere is also by the PDP.Muhammadu Buhari claiming he is also mohamed Buhari is also by the PDP.

    • Sina Ajiboye

It is obvious PDP is loosing it. The hand writing is on the wall. Unfortunately it is too late in the day! Buhari would have been a no issue if Jonathan had delivered. Let me state it to our friends in SE and SS that SW are block voters and they won’t vote for Jonathan with Osinbajo on the APC ticket. Forget the likes of Fani Kayode, Fayose and Mimiko. They are political light weights.

      • John West

@sina Ajiboye, by your contribution i can understand that you cast your vote to whom you want based on his ethnicity not credibility. anyway you are only entitle to one vote. you can only speak for yourself not for the generality of the Yorubas. after all GEJ as well drew an intimidating crowd during his campaign in kano

        • Sina Ajiboye

Thanks John. Yes I have only one vote nonetheless history is their to tell us what will happen. In the SW it will be a winner take all. The votes won’t be shared. SW are progressive and will be willing to forgive Buhari who is on the tickets of the progressives. Remember MKO. The SWesternere blamed him for Baba Awolowo’s failure in 1979 but when he ran on the ticket of the progressive, they voted for him massively and today he is revered in the SW. I am only stating the obvious. History has a way of repeating itself. Jonathan had SWestern support in 2011 because of his story, a minority who grew from grass to grace. However today he has lost touch with the average Nigerians

Buhari has asked the Federal Government to stop the clampdown of Boko Haram insurgents, saying Niger Delta Militants were never killed or properties belonging to them destroyed.

Buhari who spoke on Sunday on a Liberty Radio programme, Guest of the Week monitored said accused the government of killing and destroying houses belonging to Boko Haram members while the Niger Delta militants get special treatment.

The former dictator said that unlike the special treatment given to the Niger Delta militants by the federal government, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished by government.

While accusing President Jonathan of failing from the beginning to address the security situation in the country, Buhari said he has never been in support of the state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state. MAY BE THIS STATEMENT WAS ALSO MADE BY Jonathan and PDP

  • Progress

infantile threats. That s the right word for the criminal rantings of the criminals. the law will takes its course soon. Ijaw nation threatening Nigerians! Winders shall never end.

  • Dankasa

All what I know is that, this man (Laye) is saying the truth because what happen in Bauchi PDP rally was caused intentionally by FCT Minister who before a siting Governor, Isah Yuguda was pressing former Governor Muazu by saying; he, Muazu was the best thing ever happened to Bauchi and from there the youth who belong to same PDP at the same rally starting abusing him “Karya kake, Kaura” meaning you are laying Kaura (his porpular name in Bauchi) and started throwing pure water at him which blew into full scale attack to the entire podium where Mr. Jonathan was sitting. Tell me who started this attack? Is just a loose gimmick and very cheap one for PDP to win sympathy of anybody and this has already been captured on many smart devices and went viral, we all have the clip. This guy want to remain in power by all means and I am for sure his days are numbered and Hague is waiting ooO! thats when we will all know who is Shikau, Kaka and Sokoto, may be Reno Kubwa and Magdaline Ogar are some of them, they will confess at Hague ooO, before reminding at Gontonamo!

One of their own…Isa Yuguda, Governor of Bauchi State came out yesterday on Hausa Service BBC with a smoking gun by accusing what he calls…Abuja PDP..as responsible for the attack on GEJ while in Abuja. The accusation came in the midst of increased gulf between Yuguda and the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu. In a similar way, an aggrieved group of the PDP was indicted of sponsoring the booing of GEJ in Katsina to register its displeasure on the imposition of an obscure candidate on the State.

  • Akinwande Kolawole

APC in the North support their brother Buhari because he is a Moslem but they deceive APC supporters in the South with gist of corruption and bigotry. And the Supporters in South believe that they re in sync with them when most of them dont even hear Hausa and their chants of an INFIDEL WILL NEVER LEAD,ONLY A MOSLEM WILL LEAD THEM OR BLOOD WILL FLOW.ITS A SHAME THAT INTELLIGENT PEOPLE FALL PREY TO SUCH DECEPTION OF SUCH MAGNITUDE

  • Ademola Arowosaye

This coming election is not about PDP/ APC or about North/South, but about generational power shift, paradigm shift, capacity for 21st century governance, character & competence, establishing a new righteous order of proactive people centred leadership- moving away from the odious past of injustice, inequalities, mediocrity and feudalists meddlesomeness.

We must as Nigerians look forward to a new world order where Nigeria is expected to play a key role in leading the African renaissance.

Let’s put aside every political and ethno-religious sentiments to critically examine the two leading candidates and choose between them the man that will be able to lead us forward, into the exciting future Nigeria has.

Under Goodluck Jonathan, many Nigerian Companies have emerged as top African brands recognised worldwide- Dangote Group, Heirs Holdings, GTB, UBA,OANDO,Glo; I can go on and on. This is not by luck.

Unfortunately, same cannot be said of buhari, who believes in stone age communism, asphyxiating entrepreneurship and excellence.

Let’s go to the inner recesses of our minds and ponder on these few lines.

    • John West

Ademola arowosaye. excellent contribution. You are too much

  • Pam Daylop

Now I ask, what are( were) Buhari’s DEVELOPMENTAL strides as HEAD OF STATE 31 year ago? If u were not born then or u were very young, pls ask people questions like I did and don’t support blindly. Y allow the same man that ruled ur grand parents and ur parents (even very brutally)rule you again after he truncated democracy 31yrs ago? when he has not even been able to improve himself after 31yrs how can he improve u and the country? Can a man-Buhari, who stopped the feeding of undergraduates 31 yrs ago improve education in Nigeria today? Can a man-Buhari, who does not have WAEC certificate know that NYSC stipends need to be improved? Can a man who never appointed a female in his cabinet 31 yrs ago do it now? Think of future Nigeria youths. When u hear change, pls ask them which way of change. A man who has not change himself 31yrs can’t change a Nation. Think my dear Nigeria youths. Remember that the tomorrow of a child born in 1984 is today. Don’t give it away.

  • Musa Yaro

We Nigerians lack reading culture and have developed an attitude of swallowing things line, hook and sinker. I asked myself several questions before identifying withGEJ’s candidature.I took a stroll down the memory lane from 1983/85, I studied some high profile cases including Alex Ekwueme,Tai solarin, Sam Mbakwe. I studied Buhari’s economicstrategies which later exacerbated our nation, I studied hisintolerance to other religions, freedom of the press. I studied his decisions that bother on student unionism, corruption etc I studied his uprightness .

Recently I have studied his speeches, a sharp reflection of his state of mind, have also studied the intents of his newfound lovers in the likes of Atiku, Tinubu, Amaechi etc.Our problem is the doubt over the government we set over ourselves while thinking we are being critical of government.

Our problem in Boko haram is not about the competence of Jonathan but our disunity of purpose. Johnson wrote , while GEJ was comfortably on top of the situation in 2012/13, Mr Buhari and other Northern elders were accusing him of partiality against the North and recommended that GEJ should stop military offensive against the terrorists in favour of amnesty. Admiral Nyako termed it Ethnic cleansing. Jonathan acceded to the demands of this section of the country for unity but in the process, the terrorists found time to regroup and became more formidable.

Now, the same people who asked GEJ to soft pedal has now turned the atrocities of the terrorists to a campaign point, this is unfortunate. It is treachery when a father asks a son to jump from a roof top that he will catch him and when he jumps , he not only fails to catch but set spikes for him. The fact that Buhari called for a lesser offensive against Boko haram and recommended amnesty as was done for the militants in the Niger Delta, should dis-entitle him claiming the government is not effective in the fight, citing non use of lethal force? In saner societies, he will be ashamed for blowing hot and cold at same time on same issue. He would’ve stock to his advice or apologise for wrong advice.

He told us he borrowed #27.5 million for a nomination form but he did not tell us how he plans to pay back. The Identity of the bank, manager, account officer has not been made public. It will interest you to know that he collects #2.3 million on monthly basis as his retirement benefits , yet no foundation for the poor, empowerment of any kind, no scholarship whatsoever has been recorded. He told us he has #1million in his account ,alas, his daughter pays €30000 yearly in a foreign university, equivalent of #8 million. He claimed to have fought corruption but under his nose, Abacha emptied our treasury. I do not wish to remember the 52 cases, IbrahimAwwal’s £14 million. He once argued that all ACN governors are corrupt, he said they award 1 kilometer road at #1billion .

He accused El-rufai , Atiku, Bisi Akande Tinubu etc of corrupt practices. The good news is, they are now change agents and their sins washed away. A thief and a beneficiary of a stolen product is culpable of same crime. Suffice it to say Buhari is corrupt. What economic decision has he made?Stopping Jakande Lagos mono rail at the detriment of $72million tax payers money? Dismissing 30000 soldiers to cut cost? stopping of Ajaokuta steel?.

Now he has promised #5000 to unemployed at least to encourage lack of creativity and idleness, he has promised to feed school children, help Ebonyi state produce more yams and stabilize price of oil in the foreign market . If any voter can employ the like of Buhari to head his organization especially on foreign engagements with experts , then the person mean no good for Nigeria.

On GEJ, I have noticed a style, steady and noiseless transformation. I can remember what Shagari said over the weekend. We cant get it at once but we are getting it. Have you asked how many people Sure-P , youwin have employed? Have you noticed the decline in the importation of Agric produce? Have you seen the airports, railways and road networks? You believe your votes can count, any kudos for that? Have you studied the automobile policy that has allowed Innoson, kia, Nissanetc build and assemble cars in Nigeria aimed at employing citizens? Have you accessed the BOI, Agric and SMEloans? Have you noticed the number of ghost workers detected through IPPS thereby saving #46 billion? What of fertilizer fraud , heard anything from that quarter? Use of technology.Have you say thanks for the 12 universities built, over 130Almajiri schools, over 60 healthcare facilities, improvement in power generation, gender equality etc?

What has APC done in their various states? Which APC state is enjoying free education?. Yesterday, Buhari complained of the 16 woeful years under PDP. Was he referring to Obasanjo who’s working for him now, Atiku, Amaechi, Gemade, Rochas, Tambuwal ,Sylvia, Kwankwaso, Saraki, Ogbe etc? Buhari represents a change to dackness.

    • Factual

SO…..??? How many votes do you have? I guess ONE. Give it to Jonaharam. It will not stop Buhari from becoming the president.

    • John West

Musa Yaro, you are wonderfully intelligent. the problem in Nigeria is that how many people will reason like you, they have used tribalism, sentiments and celebration of mediocrity to deceive and reduce many Nigerians below common man level . is it not laughable that some people in their shallow mindedness don’t understand that the demons that have been witch hunting this nation and was making PDP what they were in the past has all left for apc because they can afford to withstand the fire of transformation from GEJ’S administration, now making apc a dumping ground for all that are major opposition for the well being of this country and citizens.

  • tsunami1earthquake

People must not go to ridiculous extents to level accusations otherwise they’d be making things worse. How could the APC say that the attacks on the president in Katsina and Bauchi were done by the PDP? Please if you don’t have anything to say it would be more noble to just keep quiet instead of overheating the polity and the social atmosphere.

  • Iro

Aggrieved PDP members in PDP controlled states who were rig out during PDP despotic coronation “primaries” are more likely responsible for pelting the PDP leadership it holds responsible for imposing unpopular candidates on them and still audacious enough to parade such imposed characters as the party’s candidates.

    Where is MUHAMMADU buhari’s certificates???

I taught in the north before moving to lagos, and I can certainly tell you that in the islamic north, one can have over 5 students in same class with exactly same first name and surname. It is when WAEC confirms the date of birth, next of kin and state of origin of “MOHAMMED” whose results are being paraded, that we will know if there was a name change! Remember buhari’s personal letter to join the army in 1961 as well as principal’s recommendation bears his exact name – MUHAMMADU.

From perjury to forgery! The story of an incorruptible coup plotter!!
