Jonathan violates partisanship law, appoints Orientation Agency boss into PDP group

Mike Omeri

The APC Presidential Campaign Organisation has cited the appointment of Mike Omeri, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in the Jonathan campaign organisation as an act of impunity, and violation of the NOA Act.

The APC Campaign said this action by ruling PDP is in violation of Part 2 Section 6 (2) of the National Orientation Agency Act which expressly prescribes that the Director General of NOA should be “non-partisan”.

The Campaign organization describes this behavior as unbecoming and designed to compromise and undermines the rules and principles on which the nation’s public service was founded. The campaign stated that this action jeopardises the neutrality, reputation and position of the service as an institution of governance.

In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, Director of Media and Publicity of the organization, the APC Campaign condemned the inclusion of Mr. Mike Omeri, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), a Federal Government agency as a member of the Media and Publicity sub-committee of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.

According to the APC Campaign, the action is in bad taste and contravenes the public service rules to which all public servants including the DG of the NOA is bound.

The statement stated further that the publication of the name of the NOA DG in some national dailies with other members of the PDP publicity sub-committee is insensitive, reckless and in poor taste.

The APC campaign organization says the unprecedented step of co-opting public servants of any cadre into a political party’s campaign structure amounts to making the concerned public officer partisan and therefore a calculated attempt to pollute the reliability and appeal of the public service.

It called on the President to remedy this blunder by ensuring that Mr. Mike Omeri is dropped from the PDP Media and Publicity sub-committee without delay, considering that it contravenes Part 2 Section 6 (2) of the rules and regulations for the appointment of the DG of NOA which states, inter alia that the DG of the agency shall be “non-partisan”.

“In this election season, the helmsman of the NOA by the law establishing it, should be in the forefront of the campaign for peaceful and credible election and not to be seen to be collaborating with the ruling PDP,” the APC Campaign said.

Better still, Mr. Omeri should be asked to resign from his job at the NOA immediately because it is obvious that his person had been compromised and no longer suitable for his appointment by the simple act of being available for the PDP political nomination.

    • Adoki Achine

Resign ke? For just a simple slip up? The thing is that all these government appointees have actually been deployed for the Jonathan campain; the only small problem in this case is that somebody comitted the minor oversight of actually telling the whole world about it, by including Omeri’s name in the official campaign list.

      • bikky

Sorry,it is a mistake Mike Omeri is NOA Director but because is an orator than Muhammadu Ali,Doyin Okupe,Reuben Abati we have to borrow him to do the job for now,as we are borrowing Maryln Ogar, both of them will soon back to their offices after the wind of Change comes FeBuhari 2015. We are Sorry ………..SGF

        • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

          lol

        • Guys

There is also one Yakubu Datti included in the list. He is another public servant working as General Manager Public Affairs in FAAN. IMPUNITY indeed

          • bikky

What will be their portion if Buhari emerge as a next Nigeria president. Will they retain their offices?

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

        Fair point, bruv.

I don’t doubt what you wrote.

APC should scream for his resignation, just to scare others and make the government more law-abiding in future.

  • Adoki Achine

Big deal! Is this case worse than that of Madam Marylin Ogar, the information minister-in-waiting, who has become the most productive propagandist for PDP for the past couple of months?

  • Jege Denge

I wonder why, the APC is always on the prowl trying to stir up trouble where they seem to be none. In my opinion I see no violation here neither on the side of the PDP or from our President GEJ.

    • Funso Ogunsanya

Really??? I can see why you believe DSS and Nigeria Police Force should be working for PDP and not Nigerians.

    • dudu

You cannot see it because you are hugely deficient in morals just like your principal GEJ. Apart from incompetency on the part of Jonathan, he lacks morals which is why I mostly dislike him. I cannot tell my teenage son to aspire to become a president like the incumbent because the govt of the day has elevated corruption to mere stealing, 16 is greater than 19, doing the needful in 255million naira oduah cars, abdulrasheed maina pensions etc not talk of the “unaccounted funds” and subsidy funds. I become even upset when some people attempt to shield him and deflect this by blaming those surrounding him as the culprits, as if the president has no mind of his own. Nigerians expect better from a once shoeless president but come February 14, 2015, it is going to be a promise kept by the teeming Nigerian masses who urgently yearn for a CHANGE!!!

    • Bidemi Lukman

If nothing is wrong with this, he can equally use Major Gen Chris Olukolade for same purpose too. Afterall, they are all Federal Civil Servants.

  • Ayo Sanusi

I hope Oleku, Deri and FFK and co have read this o? It would be interesting to hear or read what they have to say about this.

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

16 hours later, they are still playing deaf and dumb.

  • Shuaibu Bola Victor

This is no issue to compare Buhari’s deeds. Buhari murdered 3 convicted
people using a retroactive decree that gave them death sentences for
crimes they committed before the death sentence was put in place.
    This
is murder, because it is an internationally accepted legal principle
that you can only be given a sentence that was in place at the time you
    committed your crime.
There is no statute of limitations on murder,
which means that you can be convicted for it at any time from the time
you committed it, right up to your death. It is the most grave of crimes
(even the murder of just a single individual) and it should not be
taken lightly. I call for the immediate arrest and trial of Muhammudu
    Buhari.
There is incontrovertible evidence to prove his guilt and he should not be allowed to walk free, let alone run for president.

    • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

If you are aggrieved kindly take a trip to Malaysia with a 50kg cocain in your luggage , then come back to become a Minister under Jonathan after May 29.

      • Shuaibu Bola Victor

You are becoming more aggressive as each day passes-by. Sorry!

        • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

That’s not aggression but economic advice to the guy who thought killing drug pushers is a sin.
China is more advanced than Nigeria in all ramifications, yet corruption and drug pushing are punishable by death in China.
Cnn just announced now that six men are to be executed in Indonesia including a Nigerian.

          • Shuaibu Bola Victor

Sorry!. Your are talking off point

          • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

I responded appropriately to the man who accused Buhari for killing the drug pushers. And I responded appropriately to your accusation of aggression and I used just released news to buttress my advice to the earlier post

          • Shuaibu Bola Victor

Why are you going personal on a truthful issue? Are you saying that Buhari did not murder journalist during his military junta, or do want me to provide you with more facts on that? The records are in my archive.

          • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

The law if the land murdered those criminals called drug terrorists.
Buhari happened to be the head of state at that time and he obeyed the laws of the land.
Kindly take drug to Indonesia so that we can in future accuse the president of Indonesia of m murdering you. How about that ?

          • Shuaibu Bola Victor

            Off point again

          • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

            Your comprehension is weak then.

          • Shuaibu Bola Victor

i dislike your poor approach to issues. GEJ till 2019.

          • AWOHENRI_IFAYENI

You and your household are free to surrender your destiny unto the hands of Jonathan and pdp to do whatever they like with it.
As for me and my household we won’t.

        • Eniriches

Take a trip to China with 10Kg of cocaine.

          • Shuaibu Bola Victor

            Off point

    • Chiemele

Am sure there is a live transformer close to your area. Do the needful.

  • Ekwekwe

The man, Omeri, is a political appointee. Can these people just shut it? I tell you what breaks the electoral law: That Bokohari, the presidential candidate of APC, who claimed in his nomination form that he had a WASC certificate, refused to produce same but “is still in the race.” Even when the records office of the armed forces has asked him to apply for copies of whatever documents he claimed were “with the Army Secretary,” he is yet to show evidence that he is qualified to run. Lining up to run for president without evidence of WASC, as claimed, and as required by the Nigerian constitution, is the father of all electoral law violations. Why waste everyone’s time when you know your opponent will challenge you in the court by raising the WASC certificate issue before or after the election.

    • bib

Director general’s are not political appointments. They are from main civil stream. You are confusing the present director general’s wi IBB time when they were political.

    • tundemash

Did you read this while high on ogogoro. Exactly what does the consititution say ?

The APC Campaign said this action by ruling PDP is in violation of Part 2 Section 6 (2) of the National Orientation Agency Act which expressly prescribes that the Director General of NOA should be “non-partisan”.

Political appointee ??? Just like Maryln Ogar, the PDP spokeswoman ?

    • Remi

You need to educate yourself on the requirements for contesting presidential election. There is no where it is stated that anybody should submit WASC. The requirement is educated to school certificate level. This implies that anybody who attends but fail to even sit for the exam is qualified. For your information Buhari attended prestigious war colleges in USA, UK and India and this would not have been possible if he as you say not qualified. Look for other excuses to avoid this nightmare as the man is contesting to win.

      • Ofokansi

You can scream from your village to Daura, the fact is that Bokohari’s candidacy will be challenged in court. Two, go and look up the list of presidential candidates released by INEC. Your lord is listed as having WASC, not G4 (Government Class 4) as those who did not finish year 5 or scored Fail (or F9 parallel) in WASC were known then. Next to those was SR (Statement of Result) which was still not WASC. To have had WASC/School Cert, you must have had a minimum of Division (Grade) 3. Bokohari is violating the electoral law and – more seriously – he is wasting everyone’s time by standing for an election that will not take him anywhere but prison for PERJURY because of his falsely swearing he had WASC. Your claim that he did not “sit for the exam” justifies his jailing.

Come next month, its FeBuhari 14th. all the way.

    • Chiemele

Go to court or change propagander strategy. Do something, only quit moaning. Its boring.

  • Ette

The less than kindergarten ruler is thinking that all government workers belong to PDP. He is a curse to this great nation and must be voted out to Otuoke. May his days in power quickly come to an end. We are indeed pained that he has caused terrible damage to this nation.

  • MI

Not surprised! But of what use – just 4 months to end this callous reign.

  • Shuaibu Bola Victor

Is any of your relations amongst the executed drug pushers? Cos, you’re obviously very bitter.

      • Shuaibu Bola Victor

My concern is just to put records straight, nothing more.

    • omo oba

You are indeed a disappointment by this view u av just expressed. I m sure your brother was amongst those executed then for blood money. I think we should talk objectively on the issue on ground. Should we fold our harms and watch our beloved country go down the drain in the act of impunity that GEJ is known for? I wonder of you ever thought of your children future and the way things are going on in Nigeria.

      • Shuaibu Bola Victor

GEJ is our president till 2019.

    • Chiemele

This is no contest for the worst offender.
GEJ’s failure made GMB a viable alternative.
Am all for voting out failures as leaders until Politicians get the point. There is no mandatory 2nd term. Performance guarantees continuity not campaign time stomach infrastructure, not godfatherism.
God willing, 2015 – 2019 its GMB/Osibajo’s to show working.

      • Shuaibu Bola Victor

What was Buhari’s achievements during his military junta of 83/84/85? No one developmental project to claim. GEJ has no alternative in APC.

        • Chiemele

          His achievements were varied.
Most importantly, he changed the mindset of Nigerians to abhor sudden riches and be disciplined. To change a nation, you first change the mindset of the people.
The duo Buhari/Idiagbon would have taken us to Eldorado sooner, but for the intervention of the evil genius. Who claims in the light of today’s realities, that his regime was saintly. Imagine that?
