Containment of Ebola Virus Disease a major achievement in 2014, ex-NMA president

The Vice-President, Commonwealth Medical Association, West African Region, Osahon Enabulele, on Monday identified the containment of the Ebola Virus Disease as a major achievement in 2014.

Mr. Enabulele said in Lagos that the collaborative efforts to combat the scourge were “remarkable”.

He said that the signing into law of the National Health Bill was a landmark development that would resolve the many issues in the health sector.

“There have been some remarkable developments particularly the passage of the National Health bill and the subsequent signing of the bill into law by President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Another development that occurred towards the last quarter of 2014 was the submission of the report of the Yayale Ahmed-led Presidential Committee of Experts on Inter-Professional Relationships in the Public Health Sector in Nigeria.

“But again, Ebola crisis created a new opportunity for Nigeria, sort of turned out to be a blessing in disguise toward second half of the year. It looked like a turning-point in the nation`s health sector.

“It provided opportunity for the government at Federal and state levels to give the long sought priority to the health sector through political and professional management of Ebola.

“More so, the successful containment also created a new international image and status for the health sector.’’

Mr. Enabulele called on the authorities to put proactive measures in place to guard against a recurrence of the epidemic, and the implementation of the National Health Act in the 2015.

He further urged the Federal Government to look into the report of the Yayale Ahmed committee in order to resolve the unwholesome rivalry among healthcare professionals.

You are correct! It was a job well done and I respect our medical teams for the success. God bless Nigeria

This, my brother is deep. Man by his innumerable excesses and shortcomings does not define God. The greed and inordinate activities of pastors and other religious people cannot be a testimony to the existence or otherwise of God. Humans are unique and highly privileged beings, liberally endowed with wisdom and a power of choice. His choice, by no means defines God. God is bigger than the Adeboyes, Oyedepos or other men of similar lucre. All of us will be judged by the choices we make or fail to make. God is above all the religions of the world. The path to him is illuminated in the hearts of men whose souls are embroiled in love.

Dr Ijabla’s writeup and Tadaferua’s response, including the comments by @defemz have made interesting reading. No matter, Adeboye’s advice was quite relevant. A lot of homes are facing stress today because of foundational problems. However, the deep thoughts that have been engendered hence have been very engaging and educative. Indeed, I am looking forward to more in the nearest future. Thanks gentlemen.

Thank you my brother for a Brilliant response to Humanist Raymond’s disparaging and unintelligent submissions about God, Jesus Christ and Christianity. I agree completely with you and I don’t give a hoot what he wrote about Adeboye and his pastor types because their doctrine and practice is not true Christianity.

Nigerian Christianity is idolatry – the worship of material wealth and human being (G.O,Pastor, Man of God, etc)

Humanist Raymond crossed the line of science and logic when he disparaged God and Jesus to elevate and promote his religion – HUMANISM.

It would be nice for Dr Raymond to tell us about his god. Perhaps he is not aware that Humanism is a religion. It is the worship of self. – ME. It is about me caring about mankind and the world.

It is an illusion of knowledge when a curious mind carelessly jumps into conclusion on a force/power greater and bigger than his comprehension. As human beings, we only know a little. Let us not get carried away by our tiny knowledge, just like Dr Raymond has carelessly and arrogantly written off GOD.

So brilliant that I can’t add anything. Welldone sir. While Ramond seeks to denigrate Christianity or God he sought to promote his own religion humanism.

I don’t think any Pastor with all their apologetic wisdom can make any better case in the defence of the existence of God than Ken has done. Exploiting God for personal gain is as old as the world. The analogy of Jesus Christ and martin Luther employed by Ken to support lone voices of descent in the wilderness of religious corruption is brilliant. The anger and frustration of Dr. Ijabla is understandable but not to the extent of trying to use the “sponge to wipe away the horizon” to borrow the words of Friedrich Nietzsche. Even Nietzsche asked rhetorically in his “God is dead” literary invention in “the parable of the madman” that “what sacred game are we now going to invent” since we have murdered God. He asked further “must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?” The malfeasance of some few ‘pastorpreneurs’ to borrow the word of Dr. Ijabla cannot murder and bury God. I really appreciate the response of Ken to the scepticism of Ijabla.
