The Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Elias Bogoro, has condemned the recurrent attacks carried out by Boko Haram groups on educational institutions.
Mr. Bogoro made the condemnation during a courtesy call on him by a Civil Rights Organisation Group, National Association for Peaceful Elections in Nigeria, NAPEN, in Abuja.
He stated that TETFund is hopeful that the Safe School Initiative initiated recently by the federal government would help in making learning institutions in the North East safe for students and teachers.
“We are aware of how school children have been maimed and slaughtered literarily in schools by insurgents and the midnight attacks being carried out on hapless and harmless children, it is unacceptable,” he said.
He explained that the challenge of insecurity in schools in the North East is very serious and cannot be ignored adding that TETFund would be happy to complement the pivotal work that Mr. President is undertaking through the Safe School Initiative of the president.
