The National Chairman of the United Progressives Party, UPP, Chekwas Okorie, has emerged the party’s presidential candidate for the February 14 election.
Mr. Okorie emerged at the party’s national convention held at Binez Hotel, Aba, Abia State on Thursday.
Also, Bello Umar, emerged the vice presidential candidate.
The UPP was registered in October 2012.
With Mr. Okorie’s emergence, the presidential candidates of three parties are now known.
President Goodluck Jonathan’s adoption as the sole presidential candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was ratified at the party’s convention also on Thursday.
The same day, a former head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, was elected the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
A statement by the media coordinator of the UPP, Orji Okorie, on Thursday, said the party’s flags were also presented to its gubernatorial candidates.
Those who received the flags are Osmond Ukanacho (Imo), Chris Akomas (Abia), Binta Gwarzo (Kano).
The statement also said the positions of all the national working committee, NWC, members of the party were also ratified at the Convention.
