The motorcade of the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, was involved in an accident on Sunday.
Witnesses told PREMIUM TIMES that one of the SUVs in the convoy collided with a bus used for public transport. The accident occurred at Saapade-Ogeere road along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 9:30 a.m.
The bus driver reportedly lost control while driving on the narrow stretch being used by travellers on both sides due to ongoing repairs of the road.
Although the SUV was damaged, no life was lost while an official said no injuries were sustained.
The governor, who alighted from his vehicle to offer assistance to the injured, has since continued his journey to Ekiti where he is billed to attend a function.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Yusuph Olaniyonu, who confirmed the accident, said no life was lost and no one was injured from the accident.
“It was just a minor accident, no one sustained injury. We were going to Ekiti. Only one jeep was affected and we have transferred the occupants to our own bus,” he said.
