The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken an early lead in the Bauchi South Senatorial Bye-election results so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Bauchi South Senatorial District comprises seven local government areas.
The APC has so far won in three of the four local governments whose results have been announced by INEC.
According to the results presented to the Returning Officer for Bauchi South Senatorial Bye-election, Ahmed Fadam, by the returning officers of Dass, Toro, Bogoro and Kirfi local governments, the APC candidate, Yahaya Gumau, is in comfortable lead ahead his close rival, Ladan Salihu of the PDP.
The results so far show APC has a total of 53,133 votes in the four local governments while the PDP has 22,430 votes.
In the results received by INEC so far, the APC polled 30,658 votes in Toro Local Government Area, while PDP got 8,420 votes.
The PDP defeated APC in Bogoro Local Government Area by scoring 6,646 votes, while the APC scored 3,992 votes.
In Dass Local Government Area, APC scored 7,432, while PDP got 4028.
In Kirfi, APC also scored 11,051 while PDP got 3336 votes.
The results for the remaining three local governments were still being awaited at the time of this report.
