Iceland v Nigeria (LIVE UPDATES): Iheanacho, Musa, Omeruo in starting XI

Super Eagles vs Congo D.R
Super Eagles vs Congo D.R

From the team sheet released, Gernot Rohr has gone to three at the back with Kenneth Omeruo joining the usual central defensive duo of Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa have also forced their way into the starting XI on the back of some impressive performance in training.

Iceland already have a point in the bag while Nigeria is pointless with a two-goal deficit. History reminds us that these usurpers from Iceland started the same way at Euro 2016 – with a hard-fought 1-1 result against Portugal, who went on to win the tournament.

Starting line-ups

Nigeria [3-4-3]: Francis Uzoho; Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun; Brian Idowu; Wilfred Ndidi, John Obi Mikel, Oghenekaro Etebo; Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho,

Iceland [4-4-2]: Hannes Halldorsson; Hordor Magnusson, Ragnar Sigurdsson, Kari Arnason, Birkir Saevarsson; Birkir Bjarnason, Aron Gunnarsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Rurik Gislason; Jon Dahl Boovarsson, Alfred Finnbogason
