A spokesperson to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has released a statement saying the governor was attacked in the state.

Robin Crusoe also said the Managing Director of BUA’s Obu Cement Company, Yusuf Binji, has been declared wanted over the attack.

BUA and Dangote cement have been at loggerheads over the ownership of a mining site in Okpella, Edo State.

The state government asked that work stop on the site and on Wednesday led security officials there were two BUA staff were arrested for allegedly continuing work.

On Thursday, Mr. Crusoe quoted the police as saying that the attack on the governor was sponsored by Mr. Binji.

The Nigeria Police have declared the Managing Director of BUA’s Obu Cement Company, Yusuf Binji, wanted over an attack on the convoy of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Also attacked were some officials of the Edo State Government who were on the convoy of the Edo State Governor.

According to the police, the decision to declare Mr. Binji wanted became necessary as it had earlier received intelligence that BUA International Limited is sponsoring militias in Okpella, Edo State, where the company has a cement factory and mine sites.

These militias, the police said, were allegedly sponsored by Binji and his team to attack the convoy of the governor, cause harm and mayhem.

    Dangote again?

  • Prosperous Nigeria

Is it the same Yusuf Haliru Binji who late father used to be the Shariah Master(Grand Khadi) of old Sokoto State? Na wao! Fulani come Edo come attack Governor.

    • Bakanridi

You see, what an infantile outlandish comment. What does this has to do with his late father or or his tribe? It is simply a fight between two elephants. Who suffers at the end?

Premium time you have been well paid too! Hahahahah

This story is a complete cooked lies and fabrications. BUA would serve nobody’s interest in attacking the governor. The governor in connivance with police are just doing Dangotes bidding as usual.

  • Kenny

Two obvious facts: Police got their palms heavily greased by Dangote and are doing his bidding; Governor Obaseki, other than being an impartial mediator is taking sides with Dangote. How come BUA cement never attacked Oshiomole throughout his tenure as Governor? Another hallmark of a fantastically corrupt country

  • Omoregie Samuel

Both parties are business men, one is being oppressed with the support of as usual, such crisis need a simple judgement.
The Government should ensure jobs opportunity in the state, we all know what Dangote is becoming in Nigeria, both area of operations was given by the same Edo state, the Governor should have sent land acquisition committee to check the condition of the agreement reached with the both parties involved.
Edo state government should not create in any way industrial unrest in the area. Consult experts to look into this matter, do not allow Oshiomole ex-Gorvernor to mislead you in any way.
Let agreement stand if there is anyone.

I suggest you guys go and read about the disadvantages of monopolists. Just as political monopolists (dictators), economic monopolists are equally evil and even more so because the tend to cause political upheavals when things don’t go their way. And you add an Islamist in that midst. The depth of hell can only be imagined.

  • Gl

This govt should stop monopolizing our economy. That’s how they stopped Ebeto cement for dangote. They are simply making things more expensive. They should allow competition

  • Joe

Believe me, Dangote is dangerous for Nigeria. The man hates competition and he is so smart in sponsoring politicians and bringing them to offices so that he can use them against his competitors. Dangote bought BAIL Cement and killed it. He used OBJ to suspend Ibeto cement company from business, until Umaru Yaradua restored Ibeto’s license. Now he is using the governor of Edo state to snuff life out of Bua. African richest man indeed!!!
