How Alison-Madueke used fictitious persons to acquire multi-billion naira assets – EFCC

A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court on Tuesday ordered a temporary forfeiture of two properties valued at $4.7 million (about N1.5 billion) allegedly belonging to Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Petroleum Minister.

The judge, Mojisola Olatoregun, ruled that the properties – Penthouse 21 building 5, Block C, 11th floor (Bella Vista Estate) Banana Island, Ikoyi, and Penthouse 22, Block B (Admiralty Estate) also in Ikoyi, Lagos, be forfeited to the Federal Government pending the conclusion of investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into the ownership of the properties which it reasonably believes were procured with proceeds of crime.

The judge’s decision came months after multi-billion naira properties and funds running into millions of dollars allegedly linked to the former minister were forfeited to the Nigerian government.

On August 7, a federal judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of a $37.5 million property on Banana Island, Lagos, allegedly belonging to Mrs. Alison-Madueke.

Two weeks later, another court ordered an interim forfeiture of 56 houses valued at over N3 billion allegedly bought by the former minister between 2011 and 2013.

On August 28, a judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of N7.6 billion suspected to belong to the ex-minister.

In September, there was another forfeiture proceeding on four properties in Lagos, Abuja, and Rivers State involving Mrs. Alison-Madeke.

In the latest ex-parte application for the forfeiture of two properties, the EFCC listed Mrs. Alison-Madueke, Donald Amagbo, Schillenburg LLC, and Sequoyah Property Limited, as respondents.

Anselm Ozioko, the EFCC counsel, also asked the court for an order prohibiting any disposal, conveyance, mortgage, lease or sale of the properties as well as an order authorising the commission to appoint a competent person or firm to manage them.

In an affidavit deposed to by an EFCC investigator, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the commission stated that during investigation into the ownership of the two properties, YF Construction Development and Real Estate Limited, a certain Fadi Basbous, volunteered an extra-judicial statement where he stated that the two properties were sold at $3.570 million and $1.194 million, and owned by Sequoyah Properties Limited and Schillenburg LLC.

The deponent said payments for the two properties were made by Angela Jide-Jones, the wife of Jide Omokore, a close ally of Mrs. Alison-Madueke, and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, a company registered by Mr. Omokore.

After payments, Mr. Omokore was said to have directed the sellers to sign agreements with Schillenburg LLC and Sequoyah Properties Limited, both of which are also linked to Mrs. Alison-Madueke.

The EFCC investigator also stated that Schillenburg LLC was registered in Hongkong and transferred on March 30, 2012, to Mr. Amamgbo as sole owner, while Sequoyah Properties Limited was registered in Nigeria on October 11, 2011, with fictitious names of Chukwudima Nwako and Olisa Eloka as shareholders and directors.

Mr. Amamgbo in his extrajudicial statement to the EFCC was said to have stated that he incorporated Schillenburg LLC and submitted same to Mrs. Alison-Madueke for the transaction.

After listening to the EFCC lawyer, the judge granted the application that the two properties be temporarily forfeited to the Nigerian government.

The judge, however, refused to grant the order authorising the anti-graft agency to appoint a competent person or firm to manage the two properties.

Says the agency that couldn’t prove why Patience Jonathan’s bank accounts should stay frozen.

Even this report have shown that EFCC have a great problem and can never win any proper case in court. Imagine property bought by Jide Omokere is now linked to Dazieni. Does it mean that Jide Omokere is not an adult that can be prosecuted independently. Why EFCC have been using media to malign Deziani and Jonathan family is beyond the imagination of discerning minds.

Even in football, a great coach change their style of play when their opponents have mastered they winning system. Since EFCC creation, slandering people’s name in the media have always been their major modus operandi forgetting that Nigeria is lacking strong value system, and greater majority of the people are not ashamed for their deeds been made public. Hence, no amount of public media prosecution would yield fruit without investing more efforts in proper investigation and prosecution in court.

EFCC have just lost the case of interim forfeiture order against Patience because they could not establish beyond reasonable doubt how the money alleged to belong to her were acquired illegally? Quite investigation would have afforded them ample time to gather vital information to secure conviction but because Nigerians like beer parlour gossip more than diligent work, EFCC kept playing on their intelligence with all these distraction.

The way they are going, all houses in Lekki and VI will soon be linked to the woman. This is a woman that has worked all her adult life with an IOC, now every kobo found in her account is laundered money and must be forfeited to their federal govt. I am not defending any corruption or stealing, but every no week passes without one house or the other forfeited by the same woman. It is nauseating. Since it is only awusa/foolani that are qualified to work in efcc, they can malign and condemn anyone on the pages of newspaper. They are pighting kwaraptian. Nonsense.

Ibrahim Magu EFCC has been a laughing stock since he was appointed by Boko Buhari. You keep linking all available properties to Alison_Maduekwe but you have refused to allow her to come and defend herself. So much for media trial and judgement just to portray Magu as being effective, but not all Nigerians are gullible.

Please let us rest. This his how you screamed “Obanikoro this, Obanikoro that”…. Obanikoro has come and has joined the ruling party now.

Just yesterday, we were told that Mama Peace accounts have been unfrozen because you didn’t do your job properly or something like that.

For the love of God, please let us rest…. When you win any case up to the Supreme Court, you may roll out the drums and invite us to come out and dance.

It appears you spend time talking instead of investigating. You roll out the drums before the scores are tallied leaving us embarrassed and exhausted. We become laughing stock. Please we don’t need another distraction.

I tried to use Obanikoro as an example yesterday but someone was arguing that he is alleged to be a lesser looter! I reminded the person, that this is same Obanikoro the APC claimed used the army to hijack democracy in Ekiti. They were throwing intercontinental ballistic insults and allegations across the Atlantic.

So if Obanikoro’s crime (s) as alleged are petty compared to Madam Dezianni’s alleged infractions, what do we do to the person who is alleged to have stolen a pot of soup, a laptop, a car tyre or, the pick pocket that was caught with a stolen phone?

    Now let us rationalise that!

If Madam comes back today, from what I have seen so far, she will be calling the shots in whichever of the Parties (APC or PDP) she chooses to identify with and will have official security details at tax payers expenses attached to her.

When we become serious, not only “America will know” but, WE will know!
