My govt saves Nigeria N25 billion monthly — Buhari

Buhari 2
President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said his administration saves the nation about N25 billion monthly through the stoppage of unnecessary allowances for government officials and blockage of other financial leakages in all its agencies.

President Buhari stated this in Jos, at the graduation ceremony of Senior Executice Course 39 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Plateau state.

Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Buhari scored his government high saying the government has effectively tackled corruption.

He said the government will not relent in its fight against graft.

Mr. Osinbajo said the onging elementary school feeding programme has targeted 5.5 million children to be captured in 19 states before the end the administration’s tenure.

He said challenges being faced in power supply in Nigeria will soon be history.

He urged authories of NIPSS to improve on recommendations made by its participants while discussing national economic development.

He assured that the federal government would make ”good use of recommendations of the course participants on agriculture.”

Earlier, the acting Director General, NIPSS, Jonathan Juma, said participants who had attended the institute since it was established 39 years ago, have impacted positively on nation building.

The official said the mission of NIPSS is to serve as a centre for policy, advocacy, advice and training for Nigeria and Africa in the context of a dynamic and changing world.

The chief executive said the institute is affected by recession and requested for financial intervention from the federal government to help replace its operational vehicles.

He explained that members of Course 39 during their study year toured 12 countries and 12 states within Nigeria.

The graduation of 66 Senior Executive in Course 39, brings to 1990 members who have passed through the Institute since its creation.

The security agencies dominated membership of the course which had 8 females; 28 out of the 66 participants for the 10-month course are members of the security agencies including a female commissioner of police.

  • Abdullah Musa

    For whom are the savings?

    • The facts

Atoye least he spent some of it on his medical sojourn in London.

      • Abdullah Musa

Then the information should be for his eyes only.

        • The facts

          Definitely.

        • AAGachi

Don’t waste your precious time on those who do not believe in their country, their joy is to see the downfall or anything negative happening to it. Never can they see any progress or achievement.

          • abodes_124

Save and then borrow. that is progress ?

      • Otile

How do you know anything was saved? Is he not still borrowing deep? When was the last time civil servants got their wages?

        • abodes_124

We have a very clever government here. They save money then go and borrow at ruinous interest rates. Is there any economist in this house to break this down for us economic illiterates?

      • Eluba Inas

What most of you don’t understand is that even if Buhari is now not the president, he is still entitled to medical treatment by the government because of being an ex-head of state.

        • Yego V

And therefore he can spend as much as he wants without accounting. I lack words to describe your stupidity

        • The facts

And that gave him the audacity to disappear for 5 months without saying what’s wrong with him despite knowing that we are the ones footing the medical bills?

        • abodes_124

Really.. All expenses paid, anywhere in the world but Nigeria? Presidential jet parked and waiting ? No wonder we do not have money for basics in Nigeria.

  • 360°

    @abdullahmusa:disqus

Muhamadu Buhari has no educated idea of the meaning of government

better than a Suya seller at a side street who wants to see sales profit.

    • Abdullah Musa

We need to àrrange a debate between him and the Suya seller to verify.
One thing is certain though: they are both knowledgeable on the cow.

      • Epsilon_Delta

As usual, Buhari will not show up.

        • Yego V

          He’ll send a cow

          • Abdullah Musa

Change begins with ‘her’, ‘she’ will give you free milk.

          • Yego V

“she” is post menopausal; dry tap !! And he is impotent; no offspring ! You, will remain starved

          • Abdullah Musa

Grammar too big for me to comprehend.

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

You that has better sense of education what are doing? Why didn’t you buy nomination form and floor him at the pool. You are the Suya Seller because you can’t make proper use of your education. You are worst than illiterate

      • abodes_124

        worse – I guess a typo?

  • obiora

If it is true that you saved Nigeria 25 billion every month .Why then do you borrow Trillions to pay workers their monthly Money. Or are you talking of NNPC 25 billion criminal Contracts. Stop talking you OLD man and go home .stop insulting people for respecting you of your Old age. Do not forget to collect our Money from Thief Maina your brother and other Fulani criminals.

    • Abdullah Musa

You could sell better without descending into tribalism.
For future reference, Maina is from Bornu state, he is not Hausa-fulani.

      • Eluba Inas

Don’t mind the idi0t, everyone north of River Niger and Benue is Fulani and they are criminals.

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Even developed nations do borrow. Those thieves you mentioned didn’t still for Buhari it was orchestrated by the ineptitude of your Dr Sabi adminstration. On the whole, you would be worst than those guys your reasoning and sense of judgment is a testimony

      • abodes_124

MOIC boy. So did the other thieves steal for Jonathan ? You need to apply the same yardstick .

  • Willie O.O

    @disqus_KjrfDwu1ov:disqus;

All said and done; and after considering all his given excuses for crass failure,
Buhari is the worst president Nigeria has ever had; he’s the least educated, the
most dishonest, the most crooked, the worst mentally lazy, the most bereft, the
most denuded of thought-process, and, the most inarticulate, stammering
Islamist bigot ever to enter the presidential villa, flying Fulani tribe flag.

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Why is he the worst president? For not embezzling fund, diverting public fund, sacking Sanusi for complaining that N20b hasn’t been remitted by NNPC sharing Paris club fund transparently with the state or for the N-power program or N50000 small business grant or for not rigging election in favour of his party or twisting election tribunal outcome? He is the worst because he advocated for accountability. Feeding of school children a project that is visible to mention but a few. In conclusion Willie You are the WORST NIGERIAN

    • NwaIgbo

Sorry, you lie. Don’t die in your bitterness, give the guy a chance. Didn’t you survive 16 years of brigandage, treasury looting mindless corruption. See the discoveries made today, could these have seen the light of day without this present government? Imagine how much was stolen in 16 years. Ask Ahmed Joda.

      • abodes_124

What exactly has been stolen. The very first case of N400 million ‘stolen’ by Olisah Metuh is still in court. he is yet to be convicted. please site any other concluded and recovered loot. [NB a temporary court order to forfeit is not a recovery until case has been concluded – remember Fayose]

    • abodes_124

Ouch. That’s a bit harsh. he must have at least one redeeming feature. Ask those closest to him like his wife – again perhaps not her. Ask Lai.

  • Tess

Where is such money in our lives Mr. Buhari?

  • Mentus

Nigerians will believe you when they see and feel the impact of your so called savings. At present the rate of suicide is increasing with more Professionals and middle class individuals opting out of life, salaries are still not paid, pensioners are now in their third and fourth year of waiting for their gratuity, health infrastructures are falling apart, standard of educationis falling, joblessness is increasing, the roads are death traps etc so what are saving being used for, over-seas medical bills?

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

The impact is already felt. those that are prejudice can not see

      • forestgee

        ….in dream land!

        • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

What are you saying, which impact do you want to feel? He came into power when global oil price went down to less the $37 compare to the period of $114 and above, in the mist of operation zero oil in Niger Delta by the militant compare to your era of great affluence and 2.2 he still managed the economy out of recession. Although your likes call it minimal achievement, Sir if you actually deserve that honor, tell us where the foreign reserved keep by OBJ is? Or the excess crude oil money then I will show you more of Buhari’s achievement.

          • NwaIgbo

True, but we have to start looking forward. There are many demonic agents of darkness who are ready to stop the anti corruption drive of Buhari by 2019 so that they can seize power again to continue their looting spree.

          • abodes_124

Ahhh. Its those demons again.. be careful Sir. Reuben Abati was thrown into detention because he referred to them.

          • abodes_124

please do show. we cant wait

          • Black

I don’t know which part of the country you reside but, where I live bombs where going off even in the federal capital city backyard of the villa in nyanya, people lived in fear of going to church or shopping malls despite military checkpoints in early 2015 and 16 local govts out of 774 were under terrorists control unable to secure by the commander in chief in 6 but, now recaptured, NA heroes died there but, they were not running to abandon post. NSA Dasuki was sharing security vote for reelection of GEJ,
its November 2017 and have not seen long queues for fuel or boys carrying keg while filling stations are empty,.
I have seen Buhari’s own SGF and NIA bosses fired, judges arrested and indicated. I have sseen more higher placed officials sweating in EFCC custody.
Jamb used to remit meagre sum to Fed Govt but now remit hundreds of millions and Customs too and many more.
NIS recruitment shortlist is out and no body paid application fee, the last one was paid for, people died, the exercise was cancelled, no refunds and no one punished.
Jobs lost to TSA are mostly ghost workers flush out through BVN, terrorists and affiliates were caught through mandated sim reg, MTN heavily fined evento drag govt to the court and brought corrupt Jacob zuma to lobby yet paid for the fine violating the NCC orders. School feeding has increased school enrollment by more 25percent do you know what it means for a child to go to school and close at noon on empty stomach. There are so many changes despite the hardship. Tax free agricure has drop foriegn food imports, made farmers better.
Bad business for crooks and scumbags increased complain because no easy money to grab, Its not all perfect but, its a good start after decades of looting. Except you’re one those crooks wey market don spoil for will give the man some credit, if by 2019 you’re not satisfied vote to fire him just like we hired him in 2015 shikenan

          • abodes_124

No market is so much better for me now. There is no more stealing or corruption under Buhari so I am stealing to my hearts content and no one is bothering me.

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

God bless you for this submission, in their watch hundreds of Nigerian were kidnapped by militant and hundreds killed by Boko Haram

          • forestgee

Da owo the man is not doing well. Suicide rate is very high and people in the streets are not feeling anything. Even Tinubu told him.

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Suicide? You may be you are right because Buhari has begun to close door against thieves, misappropriation and diversions of funds, yes Tinubu didn’t warn him but say he should double effort. Sir why not also comment on Tinubu comments on Goodluck Jonathan?

          • forestgee

The people committing suicide are not ex-looters but ordinary people held hostage by the poor performance of PMB. For Tinubu, a former cab driver in US to a billionaire through politics in Nigeria, it may be a case of a kettle calling a pot black. If GEJ has gold medal, he has diamond or platinum medal.

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Tinubu a cap driver? I love that! if a cap driver could have such a powerful idea of contributing immensely to Nigerian democracy and change it face Sir, Are you challenge?

          • forestgee

Was in US and supervisor in a petrol station. Stealing is NOT being powerful!

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Committing suicide is a personal decision if I may ask would you want to commit suicide?

          • forestgee

You can commit but I will not assist you.

      • Epsilon_Delta

        Felt by you?

        • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

          Yes, Sir and you too

      • abodes_124

Yeah – all150 million plus of them are prejudiced. one wonders why.

    • abodes_124

Stop raining on the parade. have you not heard we have plenty of money but erm…. aah .hmmm . we are saving it all for a rainy day!

  • NwaIgbo

Glad to hear this sir, but please use 2018 to make Nigerian citizens feel it:
    1. Plough this monthly saving into infrastructure that will impact the lives of all citizens.
    2. Please remove the jackals and hyenas around you who have their ugly fangs out to loot all these savings.
3.Our people are dying because of preventable diseases, give us meaningful medical services affordable for all citizens.
4.With this amount, no Nigeria should be without a job, give jobs to our youths and all jobless graduates.
5.Invest massively in education from primary to tertiary.
    6. Industrialize Nigeria now.
Sir, we have money already to do these and other pressing issues but few people are stealing them. Our patience is running out. Remember the French Revolution!

  • Someone

the achievements of this man can not be spoken of until he reshuffles his cabinet, and it is becoming late. he has the most incompetent people in government. there is no difference between him and jonathan.

  • deri best

    bingo go that school—-

  • tinubuthief

What an analysis. If it is ever true. But I hope this clueless man is aware of the colossal damages he has done to the economy. He is aware that presently more than 100 Nigerians die daily as a result of hunger Millions of Nigerians graduates are unemployed, States are unable to pay salaries, young people are loosing jobs while businesses are closing down, yet this visionless thing is talking of saving. May God deliver Nigeria from this error.

  • Kenny

Job creation: nil; job losses in post TSA era: 106,700 ; school feeding programme: nil; N Power: fruitless; power generation: far below expectation; crime index: very high; standard of living: very low. Death rate: high. Infrastructural decay: high. Urban renewal: nil. Inter Agency cooperation: very poor. Curruption index: fantastic. PMB should Bury his face in shame! !

    • Black

What the is the source of this analysis or kindly provide statistical data from which you draw this analysis?

  • abodes_124

This is heading to be the richest government in the history of Nigeria.
    Trillions mopped up from TSA
    Trillions recovered from Treasury looters
    Now 25 billion ‘saved’ per month [25 x 30 = 750 billion and counting]
okay so spent a bit on 200 plus days medical tour and servicing and perking fees for 10 presidential jets in UK that should still leave us flush. Not quite sure why or how we went into recession despite all this income but I suppose these things happen .

  • olufemi smith

Can this be said of other APC State governors, including Kogi State?

  • Chukwudi Kingsley

App government is saving 25b monthly, by this month they’ve saved 750b for 30months,so Mr vice president, Nigerians wants to know what you have done with 750b naira saved or is it a case re looting the loot.
