President Muhammadu Buhari has studied the report of the panel headed by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), which investigated allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayodele Oke.

The president accepted the recommendation of the panel to terminate the appointment of Mr. Lawal, and has appointed Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The appointment takes immediate effect.

President Buhari also approved the recommendation to terminate the appointment of Mr. Oke, and has further approved the setting up of a three-member panel to, among other things, look into the operational, technical and administrative structure of the Agency and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Otile

As soon as the dust settles the presidency will secretly recall and promote them. Buhari and his clique are_fooling themselves.

    • Julius

Otileeeeeee, there you go ! I expect nothing less from you. You are missing your usual insults…wetin shele oo ?…oh my bad, that will come under another moniker.

    • Abdul Wada

You definitely know Buhari’s strategy.. Lawal will remain in this government..

    • Man_Enough

Maybe they should be executed so that your mind may be put to rest.

      • Julius

Nope, he won’t believe that either even if they give him the gun to shoot both men. He is never interested in any positive development…it’s all negativity to him.

  • mbamoi

        • Nwa_Africa

@Julius11:disqus , you are laughing yourself as your Buhari that we all supported in 2015 has failed the integrity test…………………

          • pambegua

Nwa – Africa are you sure you support PMB from the beginning? It is only those that BELIEVED in BUHARI that voted for him. And because we BELIEVED/TRUSTED PMB we go hungry because our going hungry today is for our children to have abundant tomorrow. Because We believed in PMB we accept banning importation or rice, chicken, matches, toothpick etc because tomorrow our children will be encouraged to produce such product in Nigeria tomorrow. Because we believed in him even when FAYOSE/FFK/ASARI says he is sick and dead we were not discouraged because our Children future is guaranteed. Because we believed in BUHARI Even when you PDP apologist and PMB haters brings one fake news today another tomorrow(Aisha,Mainas,IG,Baru, $26b=#9Trillion,Fake BUHARI, Clone BUHARI etc) we never give up.ACCUSE PMB of anything is your right but it is our RIGHT TO TRUST AND BELIEVED IN PMB

        • Daniel

          What are you excited about?

Are the scandals not enough to send Buhari back to Daura?

That he has forced himself to do what we all have been shouting about means Buhari is working?

Next, prosecute them. We wait and see.

          • pambegua

Hahahahaha. He only followed due process. At least he is slowly talking the talk. Your semi God GEJ for 6 years refused to suspend/Sack/prosecute Diezani/Obuah/FFK/Metuh/Dasuki even when there is clear evidence huge money is missing. BUHARI may be slow as he want due process followed but I assured you everybody found wanting with FACTS(not ranting on fake news) that person will go for it. I said it here before that BUHARI may not be FLYING as you PDP apologist are rushing him to do what your Govt FAILED to do(killing kwaruption) but he is RUNNING. If you PDP claimed he is not RUNNING in killing KWARUPTION at least he is WALKING. If you still claimed he is not WALKING then he is CRAWLING. Because of your DEEP SITTED HATRED FOR BUHARI you may not see him CRAWLING but whether you agreed or don’t agreed HE WILL KEEP MOVING(KING MARTIN LUTHER JNR)

          • Daniel

Buhari is an incompetent and hypocritical dude!

Do not be a slave to propaganda in 2017.

            Time is up for him!

          • Julius

I’m excited as a Nigerian that the government is finally doing the right thing. I agree let’s wait and see the charges and their day in court. You wanna send Buhari back to wherever, there is a process for that..it’s called impeachment. Get your Reps to start that process else you are just a demagogue !

          • Daniel

            Stop being gullible.

Buhari has handed you a cheap propaganda tool to defend his enslaving you.

            Think!

          • Julius

If I were you I will concentrate on my phoney, imaginary biafraud and finding emperor kanu . Think !

          • Daniel

            Very silly!

Is it only Igbos that oppose this mess of a government?

            Wretched ostrich!

          • Julius

Loser bastard, you fools are the only ones that sees nothing good in Buhari/Nigerian government and other tribes. Your hatred is in display in here daily. Facts !

          • Daniel

Deal with the FACTS of a shameless and failed Buhari government!

Take those facts in humility and quit silly politics.

            Time out for Buhari!

          • Julius

            Nice response to your bigotry…!

        • Harry

Rubbish. What’s new with what Buhari did? They might as well have been sacked long ago. The next logical step is to arrest and prosecute them. They must not go with our money free.

          • Julius

Yes, they must be prosecuted, I agree . You have to get another talking point since he did what your ilks were ranting that he will never do.

          • Harry

What did he do? Sacking, suspension ? They must be prosecuted and nothing else.

  • Daniel

They must be trying to impress the marines with this belated effort.

    Deceitful and corrupt government.

Send them to jail to show seriousness.

    • The Wise Traveler

They don’t even bother with prosecution. The report on it own is useless without the inclusion of prosecution in its recommendation. It is not enough to sack a THIEF!

      • Daniel

        True.

      • rules_emmanuelO.

        Say it louder!

    • pambegua

That is JUDICIARY duty no longer BUHARI duty(SEPARATION OF POWER). PMB has done it part. Last time BUHARI arrest those KWARUP judges you were crying fowl. I hope the way you were abusing PMB to sack THE GRASSCUTTER I pray you do same to the judiciary to prosecute the Grasscutter.

      • sab

It is PMB that eill initiate their prosecution as well as Maina before the judiciary can act. Stop twisting the facts and issues.

      • Harry

if it were to be opposition members, Buhari will order for their arrest and there will be no ‘separation of powers’. Hypocrisy at its finest. They must be arrested and prosecuted and not allowed to enjoy the looted funds.

  • Dr.Alfred Branson

This is for political reason. It is done under over pressure.

  • Hassan Lawal

…good.o yah send them to jail for 40years each!

  • Omooba

NONESENSE. WHY WAIT THIS LONG WITH THE MAINA COLLATERAL DAMAGE TO SWING INTO ACTION AFTER A CALCULATED LONG SLUMBER.
    BUHARI, JUST FORGET 2019. SHIKENNA!!!!!

    • oyoko

Good leaders don’t act on impulse, they meditate deeply, sleep, and study the issue, and a sought for replacement before making proclamation.Good leaders don’t flow with sentiment. Boss Mustapha is a good fit for the job. welldone Mr President and welcome Boss Mustapha!

      • Gary

Wish you said that when Jonathan was in office and dilly-dallied about Stella Oduah and others accused of corruption.

        • oyoko

I don’t subscribe to people that think every action of this Govt should be compare to what also happen during the time of GEJ. I believe, GEJ, came, he did his best and he fulfilled purpose, i also believe he was divinely thrown up to Nigeria to fulfill a purpose at that time. i also agree that Buhari is divinely thrown upon us now to fulfill another purpose at this time. I am one that believe nothing just happen; it must have been orchestrated divinely to happen. GEJ have moved on, we should also move on. Now coming to compare the happening of Stella and the action of now, i will say there are big differences. For Stella, the administrative panel set up by GEJ, came out with clean bill on her, but here we are, another panel set up by this Govt was bold enough to say, two of their own have messed up and should be dismiss. I believe we should not compare the two occurrence.

      • Ceejay ilo

You guys still openly supporting PMB, can I ask what for? In my opinion, it is now evident that this govt only reacts when there’s a public uproar. Why don’t we continue with the intense pressure so to keep him on his toes. A few sectional praises I have noticed gets abysmal performances by him.

      • share Idea

Hope it was result of long meditation that propelled him to act on Maina case…Nigeria we hail thee

    • Oskirin

stop crying more dan we d bereaved..otondo.

  • Muhammad

That’s good but who’s this Boss man?

    • Danladee

Boss Mustapha is also from Adamawa State, a Christian, and to cap it all, an Atiku man. I doff my hat to Mr. President for this insight.

      • Lorgne

        MD National Inland Water Ways.

        • Gary

So he’s the guy blocking Lagos State from taking control of its waterways.
          Thanks for the info.

          • MilitaryPolice01 [Joint Chief]

Give him a chance, don’t search for negativity immediately. Thank you.

      • Muhammad

Thanks for the update my brother, I love the fact they replaced babachir perfectly from all angles but from what I gather from some sources. It seems he also was SA to babachir before his appointment as Director General of the Nigeria inland Waterways.
I do hope he shuns corruption, his former boss and serves Nigeria with honor, honesty, diligence, love, strength and faith
        I wish him well

  • Gary

Good but half measures just won’t work now in the aftermath of other scandals now afflicting this regime.

This would have been enough and even forestalled the other acts of impunity by his Cabal if Buhari had acted with dispatch on the Senate indictment of Lawal.
Instead they chose to stonewall on Babachir until Magu added the Osborne Towers cache of the NIA into the mix of headaches for the regime.

Now his replacement is another trusted kinsman in Aso Rock because Buhari cannot bring himself to have an Igbo technocrat near him in the Villa.

Another chance to counter the narrative about his animosity to the Igbo is again sacrificed for ethnic bigotry.

    • WeeFree ✓

There aren150 million Nigerians outside Igbo land, even the South South is bigger than Igbo land. Take a chill pill.

      • Gary

Pls note, ’m not Igbo but a proud Niger Deltan. There’s no denying the fact that the strongest opposition to Buhari is in the SE and SS.
That has never bothered him anyway; with his 97% vs 5% governing philosophy.

        • pambegua

Next time give 50% to PDP and 50% to APC and stop putting your water in one basket

    • FineBoy

      Igbo Technocrat?

      Give me few names please

      • Whalerolex

I was going to make this comment. Seriously I want to hear names

      • Gary

How many do you need? Pat Utomi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Olisa Agbakoba. These are very competent early supporters of Buhari for President.
Appointing anyone of them would have helped governance as well as doused the cries of Igbo marginalization in the top echelons of this government. It would have made nonsense of Kanu’s egotistical campaign and appeal to Igbo youth for Biafra; without doing any Python Dance that has further alienated the entire South East.

Makes sense, you think? That is what a pragmatic leader not wedded to sectarian bigotry would have done.

        • FineBoy

Pat Utomi of Volkswagen you mean?

          • Unite2013

Same Pat Utomi of Lagos Business School.

          • Gary

Yes, he stands above the the legion of corrupt people and family members in the Buhari regime. Why can’t you guys ever accept constructive criticism?

    • Sam

That position remains very sensitive, I believe he took his time shopping for a trusted ally .wish them well though

  • Ena

Abah….Premiumtimes give us details about this Boss Mustapha

    • Lorgne

MD, National Inland Water Ways (Atiku kini).

      • Ena

        Cool. thanks!

  • Tunde

Job done! Corruption war continues; no more favoritism; From now focus on power and the economy! Improve on the successes; This is what will spur your supporters to come out 2019; we are not blind followers; you do not want us to stay at home come the day!

  • forestgee

Silent on prosecution! This government is more than hypocrite in the anti corruption fight. And this is coming after intensive public pressure

    • blueeyedkitten

YOUR FAKE PRESSURES AMOUNTS TO NOTHING. BUHARI ACTS WHEN HE WANT TO, AND NOT WHEN YOUR PITIFUL WAILERS WANTS HIM TO.

      • forestgee

That’s why the government is in a mess!

        • blueeyedkitten

          YOUR OPINION

          • Whalerolex

What is your own opinion about Buhari and his government? Could it be that they are working well in you eyes?

          • pambegua

If you are blinded to see the good things then we are not blind. The Govt is prudent now. Nobody want to steal because you will not go scot free when caught, Our farmers have gone to farm now we don’t need to import high percentage of food products now. Every Project the Govt embarked on has some evidence of seriousness. No cue in our petrol station, Our education sector no longer goes on 1 year strike, Our electricity is now improved. You may be blind because you are used to currupt cheap money you received from former govt appointees but we are not blind

          • forestgee

            ….the truth!

      • share Idea

Just as he hurriedly came back to Nigeria when the pressure was so much. Hope it was when he wanted that he acted to sack Maina…keep deceiving yourself.

      • rules_emmanuelO.

And there, you said it! “..WHEN HE WANTS TO”! Which is not the idea and ideal of a ‘working democracy!

If only characters like you formed the citizenry, Nigeria would have been a long lost and forgotten case!

Wake up to your OBLIGATION of (pro) active citizenship participation!

Blind ass Kissing is not part of those ideals!

        • pambegua

Where were you during the past Govt

          • rules_emmanuelO.

This is not a ‘We vs. Them’ argument! Grow up!

    • Moneyz N Horseyz

Regardless of his hypocrisy, he has to prosecute the former SGF.

  • CEO

Now, how about a mock arrest and arraignment in court, only to be granted bail and allowed to travel indefinitely out of the country for medical care? Or just the bail and the case would never come up, just like Commodore Umoru’s? Nigerians would be further deceived into accepting that Buhari is now back to himself if he would “patriotically”do the above. However, my take on all these is that the affected individuals will remain on the payroll for the longest possible time, and probably for as long as it takes for the leak to surface.

    • blueeyedkitten

THE PROBLEM WITH YOU WAILERS IS, YOU LACK SIMPLE PATIENCE!
YOU’RE ALREADY BRINGING FORTH YOU NEXT WAILING EPISODE SO SOON? WAILING IS A TERRIBLE DISEASE WALLAHI. TIRRR!!!!!!!!!

The problem with you SIMPLETONS is that you are just that, SIMPLETONS! GIB!

  • JIBRIN JOHN

    Claa

    • Harry

infact Both Babachir and Mustapha are cousins. Maybe Babachir nominated him for the position.

  • Frank Bassey

Pretentious Character! Is that how to fight corruption? Shame.

  • Mani_Kay

THE ONLY THING BUHARI HAS NOT YET SUCCEEDED IN DOING ……… REPLACE BUKOLA SARAKI WITH AHMED LAWAN

The only thing Buhari has not yet succeeded in doing is to remove Bukola Saraki as Senate President and replace him with
    Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan.

This Buhari will surely do whenever he gets his chance.

Going by this clannish and nepotism ridden appointment of Boss Mustapha (member of Buhari’s PTF inner circle from the North East cabal axis) ……… it is very clear that Bukola Saraki does not fit and would be replaced as soon as Buhari gets his chance.

  • Man_Enough

Over to efcc for the final nail on their coffins.

  • FirecloudOFGOD

So Buhari has to be pushed always to do something about the rapidly deteriorating situation in Nigeria? He needs to do something urgently about the rampaging the “Foreign Fulani Herdsmen” both in Plateau and Benue.

    • pambegua

At least you push him he listen. Have you ever pushed your semi God GEJ and listen to any of us? If he was listening to our cry Diezani, Oduah, Dasuki, Metuh, Fayose,Bode George, Obànikoro, Bafarawa, Mama Peace etc should have been in prison or asked to returned our loots

      • FirecloudOFGOD

Follow me, search my past comments and you will see that you speak out of ignorance. I have been more harsh on GEJ than on Buhari. With the recent release of the news that Buhari is an accomplice to Maina coming back, we know Buhari is and has never been a saint. He has lost ALL moral and ethical ground as trustworthy and Patriotic man to lead Nigerians. Goodluck was an ‘honest’ crook, Buhari has shown that his honesty is ‘crooked’!

  • Jon

Sacking alone will not deter other thieves or serve as deterrent to corruption without prosecution and retribution. This is means jail term if tried and convicted and payback the money involved.

  • Timothy

I realised one thing about this man Buhari….I hope God will give him strength to achieve great things in the little time we know him….this man is so loyal to his friends to a fault……this man looks the other way when any of his men are in the middle of a crisis…praying and hoping its not true…his silence sometimes may think he approves….his ministers and those he appoints now say all sorts of things about him….see Madam Taraba pitching tent with Atiku and yet works for Buhari….see customs boss saying it has derailed….after what this man Buhari has gone through health-wise…he kept quiet giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. When the Minsiter of Sports was busy flopping at all angles he still retained him….kept quiet and gave him a chance to correct his mistakes….when the NASS were choosing their leader he said let them do their own thing and he can work with anyone….thinking they would be working for Nigeria….this man Buhari is a rare gem….he is old now….he may out come out for re-election…but if he does….I like to see who can match him politcally?

    • Dazmillion

Thank God Buhari was elected president. If not he would have died as an incorruptible man in the eyes of Nigerians. But through divine providence the real corrupt Buhari has been unveiled for the world to see. Hopefully by 2019, he would be facing charges of genocide at the Hague for the killing of over 308 unarmed protesters over a 3 days period in Zaria.

      • pambegua

Keep deceiving yourself. Ranting BUHARI is corrupt, BUHARI commit Genocides is not enough. How many people(Nigerians) died during Jonathan? Do u invite Hague? How many currupt cases happens during GEJ and Obasonjo? Did you accused the of any CORRUPTION? You are the one to go to Hague not our PMB

  • Gbogbone

    @disqus_espFyM0fdP:disqus

When will BUHARI learn public administration?

President Buhari of Nigeria is administratively incompetent and it shows. He reportedly ‘terminated’ the third most senior
member of the executive branch of government – the Secretary to Government – but he gave no reason, meaning that
Babachir Lawal – the terminated Secretary to the Government – has no case to answer for wangling 250 million Naira
from the treasury and awarding that whopping sum to a company he himself had promoted and incorporated.

If President Buhari wants to be seen as honest he’s failed again as he did on his claimed 1961 Wasc/Gce certificate –
which nobody in Nigeria has ever seen, not one person, not even the Principal of his secondary school in Katsina
who should have been the first person to receive it from WAEC and handed it over to Muhamadu Buhari in 1961,
i.e; if Buhari ever sat for that Waec/Gce examination. Here again, the underlying corruption of Babachir Lawal is
impliedly swept under the carpet as if he was only terminated at the pleasure of President Muhamadu Buhari.

  • Dazmillion

I thought the headline would read “EFCC charges Babachir Lawal, and Ayodele Oke to court on 30 counts of corruption”.

Only a f**l will still believe that Buhari is fighting corruption.

  • rules_emmanuelO.

EFFC/ICPC time to act? or you need another 9 months to ‘investigate’ and ‘build your case’ A. K. A ‘study the report’?

….For the want of genuinely effective, efficient policies and institutions to ‘fight corruption’!

  • Harry

What are the EFCC/ICPC waiting for?

  • pambegua

”The President has taken the administrative action. All other actions will be taken by relevant government agencies”, it read.

“The position of the President, therefore, is that investigation agencies which have already commenced the investigation of the two officers removed from office will go on with their work of investigation without any interference or hindrance.

“The President who is fully conversant with the provisions of the constitution will not stop the investigation of anyone because he has no such power under our laws. This is a decision of the Supreme Court.

“The President under our laws can, through the Attorney General enter a nolle prosequi to stop an on-going trial. He may upon conviction, order a pardon.

“Beyond these, the president cannot order investigation agencies to not investigate anyone and does not intend to do in this, or any other circumstance.

This is a man who in his most recent past has claimed to be a member of the clergy.
