Aisha Buhari attacks management of Aso Rock Clinic

The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has followed the footsteps of her daughter, Zahra, by criticising the management of Aso Rock Clinic.

Zahra Buhari had last week taken to her Instagram page to criticise the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Jalal Arabi, for his inability to provide even Paracetamol tablets to the clinic despite a budget of N3 billion for the provision of drugs to the hospital.

Speaking Monday at a stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Nutrition, Child Advocacy and Health and Nutrition, RMNCAH+N, at the State House, Abuja, Mrs. Buhari said she recently fell ill and was advised to travel to London for treatment, but she refused.

“I called the Aso Clinic to find out if they have an X-Ray machine, they said it’s not working

“In the end I had to go to a hospital owned and operated by foreigners 100 per cent

“There is a budget for the Hospital and if you go there now, you will see a number of constructions going on but they don’t have a single syringe there. What is the purpose of the buildings if there are no equipment there to work with?”

“You can imagine what happens across the states to governors wives if this will happen to me in Abuja,” she said.

The Aso Rock Clinic management said last week it was short of funds for major projects and purchases and would demand the commercialisation of the clinic’s operations for efficiency.

How is this government that those close to it prefer to go public with their grievances?
    Is the President deaf, inaccessible?
Or are selfish interests at play?

    • share Idea

Hi is both deaf and inaccessible

    • Owejah

Hmm! Abdulahi. God bless you real good! I have been wondering too…

      • 0tile

Wondering what? By the time you return to Nigeria your village may be turned to a place of skulls.

      • Abdullah Musa

        May God save us Owejah.

    • 0tile

You live in a plush house in London, you don’t know what is going on here. Leave us alone.

    • abodes_124

      the former.

  • Dazmillion

I wonder how this intelligent woman ended up with demented Buhari, child bride? She makes more sense than Lai Mohammed.

    Aisha for president 2019?

  • Aisha Buhari Vice President for Osinbajo 2019

  • DAVID DOGO

Mrs. Buhari, that has been the fate of most helpless Nigerians who have not where to go to. If that happened in a State clinic, imagine what we go through in the public hospitals. Our public servants often fly out of the country which is why no one believes us when we cry out. God bless you for this revelations. Please do more for us. It appears Baba Buhari is not aware of what is going on in this country. Please speak more for the voiceless.

    • Boss

This shows how deep the corruption problem is. Hospitals, Universities, Electricity companies, waterworks, State Governments, Local Governments, Federal and State Agencies; everyone involved in running these entities are actively looting whatever money is allocated to run them. Journalists and Civil Societies and citizens should stand up to be counted by exposing what is going on. This will now attract the attention of the President but it will also have attracted his attention if there has been a public exposure of this troubling situation.
Mrs. Buhari has done well being our voice, but the journalist and civil societies need to step up.

    • abodes_124

Baba Buhari is aware but he has a heart of stone.

  • 45Degree

Mrs. Buhari, PLEASE help us o. Shout oooo. We dey suffer for ground here. These people don carry our money go pay dem children school fee for oyinboland. Even Boko Haram hospital better pass we own. Biko help us o before we turn militants.

    • 0tile

Don’t say that Boko Haram hospitals are better than our own, our troops often raid their hospitals to get medicine and supplies for themselves. One Boko Haram hospital was riddled with bullets after our troops failed to find good medicine there.

  • Gary

It is obvious now that Nigerians elected the wrong Buhari for President.
I would rather have this objective, non-bigoted Fulani Moslem woman as my President than the wicked old geezer she married and making the whole country miserable.
Lest I forget, the woman is extremely pleasing to the eyes too- imagine all the interest-free loans her smile alone would have given us. And her well-educate children would have done much better than the cabal of greedy sectarian geriatrics who make up her husband’s kitchen cabinet.
If it’s not too late, can we ask our Fulani compatriots to replace the sick old man with his wife until 2019? Please, in the interest of national unity.

    • Sanssouci

      lol!!!!

    • Guest

You are an intelligent man, you are on the wrong side of history, I hope you amend your thoughts process towards the President Buhari, hatred is a disease my countryman….if former President Jonathan did well, will he not be accepted?

      • Man_Enough

If you want to win the heart of biafrans just speak ill of President Buhari.

        • abodes_124

and if you want to win the heart of Buharists, just abuse Jonathan and his wife with most foul language you can muster.

    • abodes_124

i know that is not going to happen but we can dream can’t we

  • dami

Seems she is only worrying about other governors wives in the other states – this is the situation everywhere Aisha!! its a mess!!
but in all this the hospital adminisitrators smile home to the bank…the reality of nigeria

  • thisnigeria

In-spite of billions of Naira budgeted for this clinic? Can anyone imagine this happening under Buhari’s watch?

    • vic

BUHARI IS AS GOOD AS DEAD. THAT IS WHY BUHARI’S CORRUPT CABAL WANT DEADWOOD BUHARI THERE TO CONTINUE TO LOOT THE NATIONAL TREASURY.

    • Gary

Yes, that’s what happens when you have a sickly old man as President and he surrounded himself with kinsmen who are apparently taking advantage of him to feather their own nests in his name.
Have you ever had to care for parents or loved ones in the sunset of their lives? They increasingly lose cognitive skills and rational decision-making and you find yourself helping them decide like children. That is what may be happening to Buhari today. Others are running the country in his name. And his immediate family knows it and making their feelings public.

You get more kickbacks from starting new capital projects than stocking the Aso Rock Clinic with syringes and medicines.

Someone’s getting rich by awarding contracts, whether at the Aso Rock Clinic or at NNPC. We know how the system works in Nigeria.

      • abodes_124

No It is buhari not his cohorts.

      • man leader

Yet some clowns are joking about 2019 return. Hope he survives 2017. When people speak honestly, like Minister Aisha did, it is bitter.

    • Jon

He is a thief himself. A thief pursuing thief?

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

What can you do when no one is supporting him rather criticizing him even the judges are corrupt

    • Truthman

Yes nau. I have known him since 1983. He is never in control.

    • Mr.Val

The so called uprightness and integrity Buhari and his promoters parade as Buhari’s qualification in life have been proven to reside in Tunde Idiagbon NOT Buhari. Buhari’s ascension to the presidency has exposed the emasculated Buhari for what he is ,an incompetent, clannish, bigoted, vindictive retired sergeant, promoted far above his non-existent intellectual prowess or gallantry.

    • abodes_124

      No .Na Jonathan fault. Somehow.

  • vic

ROGUES, LOOTERS AND THIEVES EVERYWHERE IN NIGERIA.

    TOP TO BOTTOM IS ROTTEN.

  • vic

IT IS CLEAR NIGERIANS ELECTED THE DEADWOOD ROGUE PRESIDENT.

  • Jack Daniels

Nigeria is a hopelessly corrupt country from top to bottom. Even if money is budgeted for this, they will steal the money one way or the other. If the oga at the top is not doing the stealing, then someone down the ladder will do the stealing.

    • Alhaji

No, if the oga at the top is not doing the stealing, no someone down the ladder will do the stealing because they know they will be caught. For example, if Buhari is clean and free from stealing, Babashit, the grass cutter, Abba Kyari, Dambazzoo, and Dr. Barawo will not steal.

      • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

So do you agree now that president goodluck jonathan stole nigeria money

        • Alhaji

I may, but Buhari is worse than Jonathan. Buhari is a hypocrite who fooled lots of his fans in 2015, calling himself a man of integrity and a clean man. Babangida and Abacha are cleaner than him in terms of corruption.

        • abodes_124

The one president confirmed before the whole world for now is Abaca. Do you agree?

  • Dan Arewa

The only thing that will end corruption 95% in Nigeria is for the Nnational Assembly to amend the law on anti-corruption jail sentence to death penalty. It Is high time for Nigeria to follow the footsteps of China.

    • Reward for Good is always Good

      Truly! my brother.

    • 0tile

I thought you would say that no corruption is going on nowadays.

      • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

Even the president hasn’t said there’s no corruption

        • 0tile

You are right by half. He said that the last administration was corrupt, but he does not condemn his own corrupt people such as Babachir, Oke, Kyari, Buratai, Baru etc.

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

When he leaves office let another man probe him and his corrupt crew. If he talks now no one will listen

          • 0tile

That’s not right, waiting till he leaves is like closing the barn door after the horse has fled.

          • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

His administration can not probe his administration otherwise the may be elements of interest or worst YOU won’t trust panel reports

      • Dan Arewa

Baba Buhari never said he will make Nigeria 100% corruption free nation.

    • abodes_124

Hmm we will not have a President then.

    • man leader

You can be certain the first be hanged will be Buhari, then Saraki, Babachir, DG NIA; Lai M, Dino, the rest can follow. We need contract for hanging ropes. And jobs will be created for hanging personnel

  • mike

We know those insulting the President, how long would it take them to accept defeat?

  • Dennis Dennis

The president is a jackass while his wife Aisha is an angel.

  • Alex

We’re fighting corruption!!.even if you move the whole money in Switzerland banks and hand it over to those crooks managing that Aso rock Clinics, noting will change.they’re runing the whole dam place just ways the president is managing the affairs of the country.

    • Inieke Akpan Ekuma

If I were the type that could abuse,I would really abuse you because even your wife and children could have supported the corrupt people in the clinic to embezzle the funds, so stop abusing my president

    • abodes_124

This is the point Aisha is making cleverly

  • Timothy

When the doctors embarked on strike we didnt know why…some said it was for better pay…some say it was for better facility…some said it was for better facility…but one thing they (the doctors) didnt do was to identify quacks among them and sanctions hospitals who were not doing the right thing…they have a union and they should be able to identify hospitals with high death rates for cases they could easily resolve…we didnt hear what they were doing to treat this….with 3 billion and the state house couldnt even take care of basic medical requirements? So sad and even though this is the wife of the president she might not know much…but its good it came out so that we can get answers.

  • Egbu Yugo

    Sigh!

  • Africa

Aisha; beautiful, intelligent and a caring mother. What a breath of fresh air. Patience Jonathan so zombie like looking and a low life criminal.

    • 0tile

Your are too opinionated. Do you have anything reasonable to contribute? Odua tout.

      • Africa

I have put in too much into my personal development to be a tout: I work very hard at a 9-5 job, have never begged for a government handout and don’t even know anyone in government. My opinions are influenced by the every day realities of Nigerian politics and society. Whereas, you (Otile) is a well known PDP apologists and paid troll:

        • 0tile

Dan iska yariban yaro, ubanka ya mutu.

    • abodes_124

You may have some point but please be a gentleman and choose your words more care fully for our ladies.

  • BEN IKARI

Mrs. Aisha Buhari, you’ve tried. I applaud you! Thank you very much, and please continue on other issues including resource control and restructuring. Meanwhile, I wish you’re open and quick, sensitive and understanding
enough to use ordinary and poor women and children, men in Nigeria to make your case instead of the
governors’ wives who are seemingly wasting states’ resources hence corrupt like their husbands. In addition, you should please criticize Mr. Buhari for being deeply tribal and vindictive. Also criticize Mr. Buhari for the corruption allegation in the petroleum ministry he’s the overseeing minister and his unwillingness to support setting a committee to organize possible restructuring but turning the issue to the so-called national assembly knowing that the North, especially Hausa-Fulanis, his tribal people have the most vote and control over the assembly due to unfair military state creation by fiat. The North alone has 19 out of 36 states. In this number Hausa-Fulanis alone have about 12 states. This means the North has more representatives hence votes in the assembly than all the other states combined. Therefore, Mr. Buhari understand his people will kick against any restructuring that may change current cheating and evil status quo which they benefit unjustifiably. Try and honestly bring up these issues and I bet you most in the country will love and honor you as the first and only president’s spouse who cares and can relate to the people. They will support and fight for you to be president. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!!!

    • 0tile

I for one will vote for her if she runs.

      • Owejah

Ha ha ha haaaa! You??? Vote for who, Otile? Lie-lie wey full your mouth …! Aisha is a northerner o! Abi Otile wey I been kno don change?

What kind of country is this for christ sake?

  • Bassey Frank

I see this as crocodile tears. Why bother over Aso Rock clinic when people can fly to London for better medicare? Your hubby is occupied by something more important for now. Look at this:

    1. Shaibu Musa – MD, NNPC Medical Services
    2. Ibrahim Birma – Group General Manager, Audit Division

Interestingly , Baru ,in putting up his defence is implying today that he got permission from the Minister of Petroleum.. let us see what the ‘presidency’ will say about this.

How could madam be so naive, construction contract can be very rewarding to the party who awards the contract. It is the route of choice used by thieving politicians to enrich themselves. Just ask your husband’s cronies, e.g., Tinibu, Amaechi or even his funny-face Chief of Staff, Kyari.

    • abodes_124

madam knows what she is doing. Before it was direct through the BBC. Now na from sideways.

  • SeniO.

Budget is 3billion. But how much has been allocated? This piece of information is vital to get the full picture…

    • persona

Even is if its 1m released, they should have what makes it a clinic…equipment and medicine.
If they are building and not having equipment, what are the staff doing and why are they being paid?
Aso rock clinic falls under the purview of the Chief Of Staff, Kyari. He must be sacked. He knows Buhari will not be treated there and even his family should go elsewhere, why do they then have a budget. #BuhariSackKyariNow.

    • abodes_124

What o you mean by ‘allocation’. if it has not been chopped downstream . it means it has been chopped upstream. No wait it is Jonathan that chopped 2016 Aso rock allocation and si they cannot afford to stock Paracetamol. If Aso rock is being run like this what chance has the rest of Nigeria got!?

  • kenmege

Dr Munir, the CMD,is a very honest professional that will never corruptly enrich himself but the civil servants e.g. the perm.sec that is very corrupt, will never allow him succeed. What a country.

    • persona

So, the civil servants are denying the presidency adequate treatment and the head should be spared?
Is a building more important than equipment?
There is no way he will derelict his duties and allow civil servants dictate to him because he is powerless. If he doesn’t like to be in charge, he should resign. Leadership is not a title, its a responsibility and the man is not responsible if he watches helplessly as contracts to equip where he is head be diverted for buildings that will still house nothing?
If he as the head has no equipment, why does he have staff since they do nothing?

      • abodes_124

The ongoing practice now exemplified by buhari is to blame someone else for your failure.

Another diversionary tactics by this propaganda and lying party. We are talking about NNPC scandal, and Aisha is telling us about Aso Rock Clinic

      • abodes_124

They say when a child is crying and pointing either his mother or father will be found there. Yes Aisha may appear to be pointing at the performance of Aso Rock clinic [after budget allocation of more than 4 billion Naira] but she is pointing at something bigger. I do get it. Please use your tongue to count your teeth if you are smart enough.

        • share Idea

I agree with you that she is pointing for something bigger. However, I know that this is diversionary tactics from the main corruption issue in NNPC.

Because the NNPC issue have dealt a heavy blow to the corruption fighting charade. Hence, APC is using the Aso Clinic issue to divert the gullible attention.

Remember the issue of Grass-cutting. When it fight broke the president kept mute and when the issue real corruption in Ikoyi came up, the president hurriedly setup a committee to probe both the Ikoyi and Grass-cutting issue.

          • Patriot01
