Buhari needs “further rest” after results of tests emerged – Spokesperson

FILE PHOTO: Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives meet President Muhammadu Buhari in London

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja said the results of President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical tests suggested further rest.

Mr. Adesina, who stated this when he spoke with State House correspondents on the statement earlier issued on Mr. Buhari’s medical vacation, did not stipulate the period of time the resting will last.

“The President wants Nigerians to know that he appreciates their prayers; he appreciates their concerns and their goodwill. He has added that there is really no cause to worry.

“He is the one who owns the body and there is nobody who will know his body more than him and he says no cause to worry.

“It makes sense to say that, maybe from the results of the tests, further rests had been recommended. The statement did not say how long the rest would last.

“I speak for somebody; I do not speak for myself. So it is what he tells me to say that I say and the statement transmitted to me is that the President needs to rest for some further time,” he said.

The presidential aide stated that he was not in the position to talk about the nature of the President’s illness.

“Don’t you know that the Hippocratic Oath even forbids a doctor from speaking about the condition of his patient except the patient authorises it?

“It is only the patient himself who can speak about what he is going through.

“This is the person going through these series of tests and rest and he says no cause to worry, let us believe that.”

Mr. Buhari on Tuesday reassured Nigerians of his health conditions, thanking them for their consistent prayers for his well-being.

In a statement by Mr. Adesina, the president thanked millions of Nigerians who had been sending good wishes to him.

The President revealed that the results of the test conducted on him indicated that he needed a longer period of rest.

The president had proceeded on a 10-day vacation and a routine medical check in the UK on January 19.

In a letter sent to both arms of the National Assembly, the president said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would act as president pending his return.

The president, who could not make it back to the country on February 6, transmitted another letter to the Senate requesting extension of time to complete his medical check-up in London.

Osinbajo is doing wonderfully well; the political temperature in Nigeria has cooled tremendously since he took over in acting capacity; his educational attainment and social polish is showing in his methodical approach to governance. Certificate forger and perjurer Muhammadu Buhari can have as much rest as he wants (even permanent rest).

    • Factsay

it is better for Buhari to remain our high commissioner (ambassador) in London till 2019. We don’t need Buhari, his presence in Nigeria always brings ill-omen to Nigerians

      • Baka

Since Buhari defeated your lord, Jonathan, you have been living in trauma. Sorry ooo. Take your medication and overcome that trauma before Buhari return.

        • George

He isn’t returning because the bloods of the baboons and monkeys are awaiting him at the gate of Hell Fire

        • Factsay

Hunger seem to have battered ur mentality beyond repair

      • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

Would you believe that since the certificate forger “relocated” to London, even electricity supply has improved tremendously.

        • Factsay

          lol

    • Baka

Bad loser Omooba, Campaign is over. Wait for 2019 for another round of defeat that shall permanently put you and your likes- champions of primitive sentiments to untimely dead.

      • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

“…to untimely dead”!!! You, like Buhari, are an illiterate.

    • truth is bitter

“…his educational attainment”? What educational attainment? Where did he do his PhD? Where is the thesis? What is the topic of his thesis? Or you think Nigerians do not know that he has no PhD? That it is all lies? You yoruba fiple like to give yourselves ‘Professor’ just like that. Even Wole Soyanshka gave himself Professor even after he failed his PhD exams at Oxford and dropped out of the PhD program. Before u know it someone will come here to insult me and tell me that u dont need PhD to be a Professor. But when I call Mama Peace Dr Patience or Professor Patience they will want to run mad.

      • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

        Take/change your medication o.

    • Nicolas

The difference is clear..proper Education is a liberates and not quota system education

  • 1914

So Nigerians must wait until the physiotherapists are able to get Buhari’s paralyzed left hand, left jaw bones and left eyes balls/eye lids to begin to move again. Until that time that Buhari can move these paralyzed left parts of his body, Nigerians must wait. Millions must continue to be spent to keep him in a foreign hospital and more millions must be spent for every legislathief to hop on a plane to pay a visit and even more and more millions must be spent on photos and propaganda to convince us that the dead is alive. Oh Lord Laggard! 1914 was a grave disaster!

    • CeeCee1818

Are you saying Buhari had a stroke? Looking at that picture his left side seems fine, he does look emaciated though, understandably.

      • Otile

Are you still saying his is hale and hearty? How long will this deception last, and at what cost to poor Nigerians. Get him home, share the exorbitant treatment money into half, use one half to equip hospitals in Nigeria. Buffoons

      • Curious

Have you seen any of the pictures so far where his left hand was left in the air? or where it was holding something? His left hand is either RESTING or DANGLING. People have been saying he should raise the left hand and wave it but Liar Mohammed says people must not dictate to Buhari which hand he must use to wave. He is paralyzed. The photos tell it all.

  • Frank Bassey

To be frank with you, Nigeria is not a country. Even if M. Buhari had a
certificate or even a PhD, that would still not make him a candidate anywhere
else but in a warped Nigeria where anyone however iddddiotic can become a
President on the dual principles of ETHNICITY & RELIGION. Were the 4
regions in Nigeria (North, South, East and West) to be countries (which they
should be), would a Buhari ever win any presidential primaries? Your guess is
as good as mine. BUT in a Nigeria, any man walking the street in the North just
want to know 2 things – The Religion and Ethnicity of the candidate…and these
2 determine how he and his household votes. Sad. But true. Is this the Nigeria
    we must continue with?

Until we begin to dismantle Nigeria’s present structure i.e., allow real
countries emerge from Nigeria, Nigeria will always have misfits like Buhari in
position of authority and retardation in everything will be our lot.

  • Papa Ogihwriodo

    MY CHILDREN,

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace

You people say you went to university and you read big books, not so?
Did you read common sense with it? I don’t think so at all. Let me explain.
Look at the photograph above in this news. You see three (3) people there,
not so? Now, start to use your sense! The first person is Bukola Saraki looking
straight at something else and smiling, not so? The second person there is who?

It is Muhamadu Buhari looking at OPPOSITE DIRECTION of Saraki and laughing.
And the third person there is who? It is the Speaker Dogara looking at OPPOSITE
DIRECTION to laughing Buhari, and, smiling but with his lips only. Now, think please!!

First of all can two people visiting the president of a country IGNORE that president
who is LAUGHING and be looking in opposite direction to the president? Answer is, no!
So it means this is a fake photograph. The three people were not communicating at all.
Therefore, it means that the three people were not in the same room at the same time.

    • Extee2000

“Nigerians are particularly sensitive about presidential overseas visits for medical care, after a former president, Umaru Yar’Adua, disappeared for months for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia in 2009 and 2010, leaving a
power vacuum before dying suddenly in office. Officials close to Yar’Adua had persistently denied to the public
      – and other members of the government – that his health was failing.

Many other African leaders have died suddenly in foreign hospitals, while government officials back home
insisted they were healthy. Ethiopia’s prime minister, Meles Zenawi, died in a Belgian hospital in 2012 and the president of Guinea Bissau, Malam Bacai Sanha, died in a Paris military hospital the same year. Zambia’s
President Michael Sata died in a British hospital in 2010, while his predecessor, Levy Mwanawasa, died
in a Paris hospital in 2008. Gabonese President Omar Bongo Ondimba died in a Spanish hospital
in 2009, after more than four decades in power.”

      ……………..Los Angeles Times

      (February 21, 2017)

    • Etomi

      LOL!

  • DanJ

I urge Mr. President to consider the predicament of people who have similar health challenges but do not have the financial muscle to seek treatment overseas. More so, as he may be receiving medical attention paid by Nigeria and, in extension Nigerians.

A state of emergency needs to be declared in the Medical sector as Health, they say, is Wealth. All hands (Governors, Ministers, Council Chairmen, Business Entities, Students and all other stakeholders) must be on deck to revamp the education sector to ensure we get a steady supply of tested graduates because highly trained personnel are essential for proper healthcare delivery, and indeed, for development of other sectors including power, manufacturing, Agriculture, plough back to education, etc.

Provision of equipment and the ongoing pursuit of improved power supply should remain a priority.

For the sake of the weak and most vulnerable in our society, continue to do your best. Godspeed!

Eternal rest with the devil. Which Lord? Buhari is an agent of the devil who will be visted with te wrath of 70 asewo’s in hell.
Buhari deserve no sympathy, he forged certificate and published it in his facebook page. He has besieged Nigeria with foolanis from all over West Africa and they even have benefit of first refusal in anything Nigeria before the indegenous people. Such men should not return

  • emmanuel

May God punish Jega, Thiefnubu, Obasanjo and Obama who packaged a useless man for Nigeria as President. Orubebe the thief who stole East-West Road money should just have truncated the last election so we sort ourselves out.
It is horrendous to note that in less than twenty four months, my businesses have almost all crumbled, thanks to the disaster called Buhari.
He has set Nigeria back for thirty years and i wonder what the Yorubas who programmed to be beneficiaries of what is on ground now would achieve when and if Osibande takes over – For sure, Buhari is history.
I also advise any foolani person who wants to aspire to rule Nigeria to think twice, because just like Nebuccadnezer, God has taken away Nigeria Presidency from them and any of them who go near that seat will die – It is a morbid job for them, because they have set Nigeria backward for so long and nature now takes its pound of flesh

    • Pat

The same way Jonathan was packaged for Nigerians as president by the same people. Meanwhile, you praised them then. You are part of the problem!

      • emmanuel

Without any government patronage, i ran my business and my staff too enjoyed, but today underyour leave him to clean the stable in 6 months, i am in great financial pains.
Even Aisha has given up Mishel Obama. She has finished her mourning period and have left him in the UK to manage his cocodiosis.
Aisha nor worry, if you nor see anything inherit like your baba said yesterday, your state governor can still arrange 1,000 marriages and do your own secretly to anyone

  • Joe

    Dear Lord,
Please call Buhari home for eternal rest (not in peace because his sins are legion) so that his soul can rest eternally…so that inflation rates, exchange rates, suicide rates, kidnapping rates, and all other rates can go down.

  • Kevin Peter

May God return our president in peace and in good health. Amen.

    • I did it 4 Love

Amen and Amen o, so shall it be.

    • emmanuel

I reject it. We have had enough problems in less than twenty four months. We okay him to be permanent resident at the Abuja House in the Uk, so that our Presidential Jet can return back and all those feeding with our onies and collecting estacode on a dying mans head will stop

  • I did it 4 Love

Kay is your patience running out now? Abeg cool down, Presido need plenty of rest, do you think to undo last administration squandering easy? But I am shocked you are getting agitated and I am still waiting for Keu4success to say something. Remember Keupikin predicted all we are seeing today, go check his comments you replied during the election campaign 2014/2015. My prayer today and always is that President Buhari must be well whether the enemies like it or not because I am loading my account monthly waiting for him to turn one naira to one dollar, abi you no wan be dollar millionaire over night? I don play euromillion tire no luck, carry numbers give pastors yet no luck, so my only hope na PMB to make me a very rich man.

You are a lawyer please interpret these statement credited to Femi, and consider the words that followed his “Maybe” and “it is what he tells me to say that I say” said Femi. So Femi himself is in the dark.

“It makes sense to say that, maybe from the results of the tests, further rests had been recommended. The statement did not say how long the rest would last .
“I speak for somebody; I do not speak for myself. So it is what he tells me to say that I say and the statement transmitted to me is that the President needs to rest for some further time,” he said

    • emmanuel

Guy understand Adesina, he is trying to play Dora Akinyuli’s role, but doing it in Buhari’s blockhead style.
I thought we were given Adesina’s profile then that he is a erudite and savvy Journalist? But he has never come across as one who knows his job.
Anyway, which rest is better? There is a rest called ‘in peace’ and there yet another called rest from all of man’s labour. which one be Buharis own now?

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

      Lol, I like your logic.

Funny enough, my irritation was with Mr. Adeshina.

He’s a “Special Adviser” and he should behave like one or resign instead of repeating platitudes.

I do not like excuses and he just gave us one.

  • emmanuel

Kay Soyemi you are talking like a retro. We want Buhari, Adesina, Liar Mohammed, Amaechi, Kemi the super stars you said we should leave to clear the stable and things would get better.
Soyemi na God go punish all of una. Una neva see anything, not even Osinbade can turn Nigeria around, because Buharis damage will take more than thirty years to right, by which time you may have died.

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Whether I die today or tomorrow is up to God, not a retard like you.

Who knows, I may get to even read about the demise of a nonentity that could just be you.

      • emmanuel

Hard times orchestrated by Buhari’s ineptitude is what will kill you. It is an outcome of your indiscretion and selfish judgement.
Do not be confused, we want you to stay put with your undivided love for Buhari. You may be lucky to get appointed after Adesina losses out from his under-delivery of well paid for services.
I have seen your band already praising Osinbajo for doing excellently well in less than two weeks.
What a senseless generation and country were lots of id*ots are public affairs analyst around.
These same allusions were rife a few weeks after the dead brain Buhari took over as President.

  • Pat

After all, Abati may be right about the “demons” in Aso Rock.

  • Otile

Up till today nobody knows what killed Yar’Adua.

    • AryLoyds

Fulani leaders have shown that they will hang on to power until they die, may be Abati was right that there is somthing in Aso rock that kills northern leaders that even marabouts cant be of help

  • Mentus

The president would have been aware that he was not a well man, he knew and knows
his body as said above. He also told Pastor Tunde Bakare he chose him in 2011 because he wanted a Vice President that could steer this nation in the right direction if he died confirming the state of his health. Why then did he persist in contesting for the near impossible job of Nigeria presidency when he was already in poor health. One is tempted to think it was a deliberate plan to get the Nigerian tax payer to foot the bill for his medical care which judging from what NHS is charging health tourists now must be already running into hundreds of million of pounds.

  • AryLoyds

since the test result came out if the cancer was clear he would have been allowed back home , but may be the Thing might have spread and needs Cemo, and at that age i dont think he can go through that treatment .

  • Repost by Popular Demand

    @aryloyds:disqus

This thing I am reading here is like bad news to make me a bit sad somehow.
You people are saying that penis is paining the president. That is very painful. It is bad news.
What I don’t know is how ear infection turn to penis problem. You have to explain that. It’s not clear.
President said it was ear that was paining him before. That was the last time he went to the hospital.

So how come that the ear now transfer to make penis pain him too? What sort of sickness is that one?
Even the ear problem he has not solved that one before penis come and join the disease doing him.
Penis own is not even serious. What does he need penis for again at 74? The real issue is the ear.
If he is hearing voices it can confuse him to make mistake like declaring war on innocent country.

  • Alfsanni

We wish our President Speedy recovery. At this point The President should be giving Honorable Discharge from duty of President. If Nigerian Presidents are sick, they should be Honorably discharged to end the numbers of Nigerian Leaders death on duty. From Ironsi, Abacha, Yaraduah, Huups I left Muritala. Am getting old school historian, some one help if I forgot something. Yes Tafawa.

  • Uzoma

“[…] Femi Adesina,on Tuesday in Abuja said the results of President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical tests suggested further rest.”

I think his test results should suggest he is suffering from such and such an ailment while his doctors recommend further rest. What are we missing here?

  • isaac

May the Almighty God grant you healing in Jesus name. Amen.
