Nigeria govt appoints new prosecutor for corruption trial of Supreme Court justice

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta

The Federal Government has appointed Olufemi Fakunle of the Federal Ministry of Justice as the lead prosecutor in the trial of Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, a Supreme Court Justice who is standing trial for alleged corruption.

At the resumed hearing on Monday at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Mrs. Fakunle announced appearance as the new head of the prosecution team following the withdrawal of the former head of the team, Charles Adeogun-Philips.

Shortly after announcing her appearance, Mrs. Fakunle made an oral application seeking an adjournment of the case, to enable her to study the file and also interview the witnesses.

The lawyer to the defendant, Kanu Agabi, however, did not oppose the application.

Justice John Tsoho, adjourned the case to March 16 and 17, 2017, for continuation of trial.

Justice Ngwuta is one of the justices arrested and detained by the Department of State Services, DSS, on October 8, 2016 for alleged corruption and breach of professional ethics.

In November, he had entered a not guilty plea to the 15-count charge levelled against him by the Federal Government.

The former prosecutor knew they was no case against Ngwuta. Mrs. Fakunle will also come and discover the same thing. This trial and conviction of “suspects” in the media, a tactic that this government has employed, and deployed to bamboozle Nigerians has to stop. For two years we have heard of humongous amounts being recovered, but nobody has ever been convicted. We are tired of this propagandist government.

Nigeria has no government in place, just a bunch of classless politicians and opportunist who are taking their pound of flesh from Nigeria.
Imagine a confused Kemi scamming Nigeria with Euro Bond at 7.5%? By the way, what is Libor plus today and why would the bond be so costly? We may eventually find a huge haul of Dollar cash in her grandmother’s slum house in the future.
It is government by deceit, for a few and by a few for the ultimate destruction of the people!
Why did it take Andrew Yakubu all the while to jin APC, see now he has forfeited his share of the booty to the crooks.
They recovered N151 billion in a month plus, only Yakubu we know, who are the other two? Buhari wonders.
