Gambian foreign minister resigns as Jammeh becomes more isolated

President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia

Two days to what is supposed to be his handover date, President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia has lost a close ally as his foreign minister, Neneh MacDouall-Gaye, has resigned from office.

Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye’s resignation comes barely a week after Gambia’s information minister, Sheriff Bojang, resigned and fled the country in protest over the refusal of Mr. Jammeh to accept the result of December’s presidential election.

Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye on Monday resigned from Mr. Jammeh’s cabinet saying she could no longer perform her duties effectively under “the prevailing circumstances.”

“This letter serves as a formal notice of my resignation as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia,” Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye wrote.

“After due deliberation, I am of the conviction that under the prevailing circumstances I cannot effectively serve as foreign minister,” she added.

She thanked Mr. Jammeh for the opportunity to serve the country while praying to Allah that the country’s political “impasse be resolved peacefully to the pride of The Gambia nation.”

Mrs. MacDouall-Gaye, one of the country’s famous broadcasters was one the most trusted allies of Mr. Jammeh. She had served as the country’s ambassador to the United States, minister of trade, industry and employment, and minister of communication, information and technology.

There are reports that she had fled the country before turning in her resignation.

Her resignation is an indication that Mr. Jammeh is increasingly being isolated by his close allies.

There are unconfirmed reports that the country’s minister of finance and economic affairs, Addou kolley, minister of trade, industry and employment, Abdou Jobe, minister of Environment, Ousman Jarju, may have also resigned from the government.

Mr. Jammeh has come under increasing pressure from the African Union, AU, and the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to accept the result of the December 1 presidential election and hand over to the President-elect, Adama Barrow.

While still utilising peaceful negotiations to convince him to step down when his tenure ends on Wednesday, the AU and the ECOWAS are also considering the deployment of a regional military to forcibly remove Mr. Jammeh from office.

Yesterday, the country’s Supreme Court refused Mr. Jammeh and his party’s application to stop the inauguration of Mr. Barrow thereby rendering his stay in office after Wednesday illegal.

Why Yahya Jammeh is a disgrace to black Africans

Yahya Jammeh is a misfit as head of state. He is one of those General Obasanjo was breaking bread with,
and believing himself to be engaged in ‘diplomacy’. No well-read person would tolerate Yahya Jammeh
but Obasanjo could and did – with embrace and kisses planted on each other’s face. Here again,
Yahya Jammeh exhibits the crass conduct that should repel anyone possessed of average
intelligence in logical thinking. He got cameramen into the State House in Banjul to film
him making a phone call to the President of Liberia in Monrovia – who was in a car
at the time President Jammeh phoned un-expectedly. To sound less illiterate,
Yahya Jammeh was reading what should be a conversation from a prepared
text typed for the purpose. The Liberian President was not told she was
being recorded overseas in Gambia or was she told that Yahya Jammeh
would later take the video of the phone conversation to the national
television station headquarters for national broadcast in Gambia.

  • RAPE on the Niger DELTA

    Dear AVENGERS,
There is massive poverty in the Niger Delta. There is nothing to show for the wealth of the region as monies from the region are used to develop Abuja and the rest of the country. The only benefit the oil producing and resource owners – Biafra and Niger Delta regions benefit from Nigeria are :
    – Pollution
    – Neglect
    – Violence
    – Military Occupation
    – Wanton arrest of its citizens
    – Harassment
    – Sponsored propaganda to defame
    – Bypass in political appointments
    – Hate, hate and more hate
    – Etc etc, etc

…yet, the parasitic regions (Vultures) that feast on the resources of the Niger Delta want it to remain part of Nigeria even as they care not about the many artificial problems that oil exploration has brought to the people –Health issues / Diseases arising from toxic pollutants. Buhari never borrowed to clean up the Niger Delta or rehabilitate the displaced farmers and fishermen. But he borrows to resettle those reportedly displaced by Islamic terrorists – a people (Terrorists) he claims must not be killed.

SECESSION is the only way for the Niger Delta and Biafran regions if they must achieve their potentials. Buhari can remain president of the rest of Nigeria and those of us who do not want to be associated with Nigeria in any way should be left alone to live our dreams and fly to our destination – have our own country. And this is what we must do.

May God be with our freedom fighting comrades – the AVENGERS…and we look forward to Operation Hurricane Joshua and Jericho Wall.

This is what should be happening in Nigeria’s Eastern and Southern states to compel the Government to restructure Nigeria.

***The Senators and Members of house of reps from the states from these regions should resign their seats and refuse to go to parliament UNTIL the Nigerian government RESTRUCTURES Nigeria into proper Federalism or Confederation.

***Additionally, all state Governors should abstain from Governors forum that includes other Governors from parasitic states

***And finally, and most importantly the people of the East and South should ABSTAIN from voting in the 2019 Presidential elections and that of the National Assembly elections.

With the above, Buhari and his gang will be paralyzed.

government officials reading Premium Times, including the security agents
spying amongst them, should have concluded and told President Buhari that
enlightened Nigerians don’t support his adventure in The Gambia because there’s
no sensible principle involved in huffing and puffing to exclude the Supreme
Court of The Gambia from deciding the legality of the Gambian election where
the Electoral Commision issued and signed two contradictory results, to make it
impossible for anyone to know who actually won the Gambia’s presidential

“Allies of President Jammeh said there could be no inauguration (of a president) with petitions still pending
before Supreme court. “In the interest of justice, the petition must be heard and determined before
      the inauguration can take place
,” said Edward Gomez, a lawyer for Jammeh’s APRC political party.

The Supreme Court has not sat for over a year and all the judge’s seats bar that of the chief justice
are unoccupied. Jammeh has hired judges from Nigeria and Sierra Leone to hear the petitions,
but they have failed to arrive in Gambia. Tensions are rising in the capital Banjul as Barrow’s
January 19 inauguration approaches. Heavily armed security forces man checkpoints
throughout the city. Barrow, who is visiting neighbouring Senegal, insists the
swearing in ceremony will go ahead.”
