Why I can’t disclose what my govt gave Boko Haram for Chibok girls – Buhari

President Buhari has denied knowledge of what his government exchanged with Boko Haram for the 21 abducted Chibok girls, saying he would need to return from Germany to be fully briefed.

“This is what I don’t know until I go back. I said the release is on the morning I left and this is not something we will discuss on the telephone,” Mr. Buhari said in the interview with German broadcaster, Deutsche Welle.

Twenty Chibok girls were released on Thursday and some government officials said the administration did not give Boko Haram anything in return.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, denied a report that the government released Boko Haram detainees for the girls.

“Please note that this is not a swap. It is a release,” Mr. Mohammed told reporters Thursday.

Mr. Mohammed said President Buhari assigned the State Security Service to proceed with the negotiation and credited the release to “painstaking negotiations and trust on both sides”.

During the exchange with Mr. Buhari, Deutsche Welle’s Phil Gayle asked the president if he was aware of an exchange of Boko Haram commanders for the girls as widely reported in the media.

“Until I go back, I will receive a formal briefing on how the negotiations went,” Mr. Buhari said. “As soon as I go back home I will find out the written confirmation of how it all went.”

The president had stated his readiness to negotiate with the terrorists but only after their genuine leaders are identified.

Mr. Buhari traveled to Germany on Thursday for talks with that country’s leader, Angela Merkel.

He returned to Abuja on Saturday.

There is a reason why in many war situations, activities such as this are done with transparency. It is to ensure there is no room for innuendoes. So how do I know these girls were not kept as a bargaining chip by some Northern Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri notable interested in exacting concession for some undisclosed purpose? How do I know current government officials who took over after May 29, 2015 are not involved in this deal? Nigeria – More Questions, than Answers.

    • Otile

It goes without saying that crooked deals have been made, money has changed hands. Northern elites are corrupt to the teeth. They are only deceiving their salves and morons.

  • Otile

Imam can’t disclose how much money they have paid out in this deal, it’s too soon and too sensitive to disclose now. Understand that out of the money some millions have gone to Abba Kyari, some to Dambazua etc. One can say that Mamman Daura is even receiving more millions of this money than Imam Shekau himself.

ABSURDITY OF THE CHIBOK RIP-OFF————————-Red Cross Refutes Nigerian Presidency’s Story On Release Of Chibok Girls——-they were not involved in the negotiations————————-

After more than two years in captivity by Boko Haram, Nigeria’s government now said today that 21 of the schoolgirls whose abduction triggered the #BringBackOurGirls campaign have been released. But in APRIL 2014, the Nigerian military said over 100 of these abducted girls were freed; IN APRIL 2015, same army said it rescued 200 of the same girls; then May 2016 (this year), the very same military again claimed it rescued over 100 of the hostages. Please read the links below and be the judge in the CHIBOK SCAM – the biggest CAMPAIGN RIP-OFF in Nigeria’s history.

KANO, Nigeria (CNN) – According to the Nigerian government officials–Heavily armed men descended on the school as the girls slept. Bullets flew as guards fought back, but they lost. The men, Boko Haram militants, herded more than 100 students onto buses, vans and trucks and drove off, flanked by motorcycles, authorities said. Until now, it is still not immediately clear how the girls became free in Nigeria since the denial of any involvement in the release of the girls by the Red Cross. Their conditions of freedom are yet not clear several hours after their release.

So, muslims have to be rewarded for kidnapping and killing over 40000 innocent people?

  • George

    He can’t disclose his illness

    He can’t disclose his certificate

And again he can’t disclose what he gave as exchange to Boko Haram his boys to Nigerians.

This is getting funny day by day and I hope Tinubu is very much happy now.
