Why Buhari did not release details of stolen asset recovered from corrupt officials – Lai Mohammed

Buhari-US-Chamber-Commerce

President Muhammadu Buhari did not release details of looted asset, recovered from corrupt persons, due to “legal reasons”, an official has said.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this on Sunday evening, hours after Mr. Buhari’s Democracy Day broadcast.

“Yes, he initially said so (that he’ll give specific details about recovered loot), but he was advised against doing so for legal reasons,” the Cable Newspapers quoted Mr. Mohammed as saying during an interview on Channels Television.

Mr. Buhari had on May 14 in London promised to provide specific details of stolen asset by former public officials.

“So far, what has come out, what has been recovered in whatever currency from each ministries, departments and individuals, I intend on the 29th to speak on this because all Nigerians are getting from the mass media because of the number of people arrested either by the EFCC, DSS. But we want to make a comprehensive report on the 29th,” Mr. Buhari had said.

But during his nation-wide address on Sunday morning, the President failed to make the details public. Instead, he said, the Information Ministry would soon release relevant details.

The development immediately drew the ire of Nigerians, who became outraged that their leader has once again failed to live up to his words.

But Mr. Mohammed said his principal has the right to reverse himself.

“Of course, he has a right to reverse himself on that,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed, however, said the administration will publish some details of recovered loot, but a far cry from what the president initially promised.

“We will get the list but not today; before the end of the week. But I must say not with the names,” he said.

But the claims that legal consequences prevented the president from announcing the names appear to be in sharp contrast with what the president did in January when he released the names of former military officials, private individuals and companies.

On January 15, Mr. Buhari published up to 41 names of former services chiefs, firms and individuals said to be responsible for over $2B arms procurement fund that was unaccounted for.

It is idiotic for anyone to expect the names of looters who paid back to be made public by the presidency. It is unprecedented. It will break loose legal wars against a famished administration. Anyways, most of the names are already in the public. This president is a poor politician. He speaks with good intentions but often forget diplomacy. He forgets he is swimming in the shark infested waters.

    • Manboggle

Hell no, it is not idiotic to inform the public about the name of the looter who returned part( I am sure it is not all their loot) their loot. Accountability matters. Remember that the Jonathan administration re-looted Abacha’s returned loot. Dasuki got $300 million fro that money. What did you mean by “a famished administration?” These guys don’t look anywhere near famished to me. I AM COLONEL MARIAM WHO IS NOT ALLOWED TO POST A WORD HERE.

      • Idy

        GBAM

    • CovertNigerian

Legal wars over what exactly? Certainly you’re not suggesting that under typical legal arrangements, a thief that returns stolen property is entitled to privacy and anonymity. Surely, Nigerian law has no such default provisions.

“Anyways, most of the names are already in the public.”
There is suspicion and innuendo, but few facts about who these people are. Now, facts are available and I think the public is entitled to that information.

      • Manboggle

I knew there was a lawyer in the house.
Now can you top that free legal opinion?

      • Idy

In no time all of that will be given out

    • sab

It is even more idiotic to have released names of alleged treasury looters and amounts they stole in the first place

      • Idy

        Story for d gods

  • joelaw

Even for some that might have a degree of soft spot for Buhari his penchant for reversing himself on his words makes him to appear confused and unfocused. He should think through statements before making them and get his facts right. Even if he is correct this time around his standing as a strong leader is eroded. Let APC not allow the label of a confused and inconsistent administration stick to it, this is not acceptable, 2019 is only 3years away. The party keeps controverting itself when trying to inform the public and, the impression is that of a communication gap. due to intra party chaos The administration must articulate her policies and connect with the public. Honestly, the party is burning out a lot of goodwill.

    • Idy

That’s not his message and choose to believe what you want, but sometimes when a man is in govt or power, some certain decisions can be changed at last min due to national security or for whatever reason… Think properly, he definitely wld have a good reason which will unfold to u soon

  • Rommel

The lawyers for the looters were praying fervently for the names to be released so that they will head to court and frustrate the fight in the name of judicial bias, hahahahahahahLol their folly was uncovered even Jonathan ran away from Nigeria, nothing will hinder Justice, they have to face the music

    • Manboggle

If looters exist shouldn’t the govt strive to release their names? What exactly are you prattling about in your usual dizzying
disjointed manner? Can you really say something and stop picking your finger nails? What are you going to do next-start twirling your hair and rolling your eyes? Colonel Mariam here anyway.

      • Idy

It’s something many of you will never understand

    • CovertNigerian

Judicial bias for naming people that have returned stolen monies or monies they can’t account for? How does that work exactly?

      • Idy

        I see

    • sab

Mr Rommel, you are gradually taking over from Lai Mohammed. Did PMB not know earlier there could be legal implications? Don’t he have speech writers? Don’t he have advisers, legal and otherwise to put him in tune with realities and implications of whatever he gives out to the public especially at diplomatic level? Rommel, would you have taken this position if it were another President, especially from another party? Are you being sincere to yourself or economical with the truth?

      • Idy

Truth is bitter!! But it must be said

      • Rommel

Presidents are human beings like everyone else,Obama made a promise 2009 to close Guantanamo but as you may be aware,it is still open with at least 80 inmates so presidents don’t always get to do what they wish because of certain constraints

    • B. Messi

@rommel, You cannot serve two masters.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

Mr rommel, STOP WORSHIPPING BUHARI. HE IS LIABLE TO ERRORS AS ANY HUMAN. HE IS A MERE MORTAL. HE IS NOT GOD! DID YOU SEE HIM ON TV DURING THE BROADCAST??

You will be disgraced relying on the arm of flesh.

      • Idy

Your words are the most disgraceful

        • B. Messi

          I quoted from the bible.
I guess you find the Bible disgusting.
Sorry, we are not on the same wavelength..

    • Idy

Gbam!! Lil by lil justice must be served

    • progressive

It shows that this government will surely deliver its a government of of sincerity.

    • Batotchu Onos

I want to imagine the list will be inconclusive without Amechi, The Jagaban Borgu, The Kachukwu Brothers (these boys will certainly make DEZIANI look like a saint just watch UK metropolitan police and National Crime agency please keep them on your watch list for post 2019 arrest and prosecution for all the kick backs through various law firms and cronies and surrogates list will soon be sent), Tunji Olowolafe of the Fashola Clan, Wale Tinubu in major global money laundering for APC elections the Morroco and UAE connection, The DANGOTEs $2m, Jafaru Isa, a detail email scan of Fayemis communication prior to the election for distribution of loots from Rivers, Kwara, and Lagos, the Monies found in the house of the former ARTONEY General yet to be accounted for in the recovered list of loots,

    • ayobamiba

Can you call funds that are still under investigation and judicial processes where the courts of the first instance are still hearing arguments and counter arguments recovered loot? This matters shall get to the apex courts.what if the cases turned out to be like the election petitions where APC manipulated the tribunals and the lower courts only to be shamed by the apex courts. APC is a terrible fraud against Nigeria.

  • B. Messi

Hahahaha! Lai don come again o!
I strongly advise you guys NOT to take this baba lai(e) serious at all!
I COMPLETELY GAVE UP ON ALHAJI LAI MOHAMMED WHEN I LISTENED TO HIM ON A CHANNELS TV PROGRAMME WHEN HE SAID THE EMBARRASSING TOMATO SCARCITY IN THE COUNTRY WAS CAUSED BY THE BOKO HARAM WAR!!
PLEASE DONT BELIEVE THAT MAN O!

*PLEASE WETHER APC OR PDP, PLEASE PRAY FOR MR PRESIDENT O! WHY WAS HE LOOKING THAT WAY DURING THE BROADCAST?? PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM! FAST IF YOU CAN!!

    • Austin Uduogu

Why are you bothered? I thought you already left by now to live in your so called Biafra. In one of your last posts, you called Nigeria a contraption, and lamented the Great Britain for making your region a part of it.

      • progressive

Biafra is dead already they are just looking for a way to make name , they are all thieves

  • Arabakpura

If that is the case, I suggest all things; legal and illegal are checked out before statements are made because it demystifies Presidents to speak and un-speak!

    • Idy

I feel u!! More efforts will be made to see that PMB succeeds in everything he says

      • abayomi

        Definitely

    • Dawood

This is one area I fervently disagree with Mr. Mohammed. Buhari dropped the ball. He shouldn’t have made the promise. Nigerians are suffering today because of these people, and no, the list would not have stopped their suffering, but it would’ve validated or given them a reason to suffer a little bit more so that this government can start delivering. Why should they not strike next time labor tells them to strike? This nonsense is how you start losing the support of the people.

      • Idy

I understand you, but be patient, cos sometimes it’s beyond what we think it is…. Nigeria is built under majority of these so called cabals so to jus name them out might lead to something you ppl are not ready for!! Jus be patient, n gradually everything will make sense

        • abayomi

By publishing those names wont help, it shows that this government has a good adviser not like what we used to have in the past when they were not been sincere with nigeria

      • abayomi

        My point precisely

      • Arabakpura

I accept your explanation! However, the way it was served was like an ambush! Anyway, I just don’t want them to be making these little mistakes because of my fidelity to the president!

      • woman leader1

Founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, takes Buhari to the laundry, dismisses his govt as incompetent.

PUNCH: What is your assessment of the Buhari administration in one year and your view about the ruling All Progressives Congress?

SOWORE: I was at President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration in May 2015. As we left the parade ground I was shocked at the level of unpreparedness of his government. I could tell you for sure that they all went back to bed hoping that someone else was in charge of Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress political party that is in power is the number 4th faction of the highly fragment(ed) People’s Democratic Party. In a nutshell the regime is highly disorganised and reeks of incompetence. Unfortunately, they still enjoy some goodwill from Nigerians.

If Lai Muhamed did his school examination all by himself he should know better
that RIGHT is the wrong word to use in explaining a breach of public promise
by President Muhamadu Buhari to release the names of looters to the public
along with exact figures returned or recovered from each looter up till date.
There’s no right issue involved in a breach of a self-assumed obligation
voluntarily announced by a public official by world-wide announcement.

Only haters of truth, lovers of darkness, hypocrites ,free educated judas race ,bewitched cretans etc shall find fault with the truth and facts .the truth is that Nigeria made a huge mistake on buhari. I cant comprehend why majority of yorubas are enemies of truth .Only one year on the saddle, buhari have ran Nigeria aground. This is the worst leader of Nigeria ever . so saddening that while a lot of nations are making progress ,Nigeria saddled itself with highly crafted organized deception that is leading our nation to bankruptcy at the speed of light. If not for hypocrisy, hatred of our selves, born to rule mentalities of the Hausa Fulani ,cunning craftiness and hypocrisy ,self centerdness and greed of the thieftnbu yoruba brigade, what will Nigeria be doing with a buhari as President at this time and date.for Gods sake, apart from being overcharged, overwhelmed and over enraged with anger ,revenge and hate bigotry, what else can Nigeria sincerely remark as buharis quality to make him our preferred destination at this auspicious hour of reckoning. Can any sincere Nigerian say in truth that buhari as President is versed in economy, democracy, rule of law, diplomacy, international politics, financial management, business management, wealth creation, political ,economic or diplomatic horse trading ,academic qualification. What credentials did buhari posses apart of not being financially rich, that made him most qualified out of over 170 million Nigerians.its a pity that Nigeria found herself in a position where her leaders have always been the below average qualified citizens. What have stopped this nation from having her best citizens managing her affairs , should be the concern of patriotic citizens of this nation. Buhari surely can never give what he don’t have the capacity to give because ab initio, buhari did not bring anything along except the highest level of conspirational propaganda and falsehoods peddled by yoruba media to justify their hatred of jonathan. who are the people that have graduated from buharis schools of human management, where are the businesses that buhari have built or managed, apart from some few cows and goats, what are the products of buharis wealth creations. why can’t Nigeria be ruled by the likes of Mkos, dangotes, adenuga,Jim ovia, tony elumelu, pat utomi, peter obi, soludo, okonjo iweala, oby ezekwesili, tunde bakare,David oyedepos,Sam adeyemi, shehu sani, kangiwa umar,Godswil akpabio ,magnus kpakpol etc . why should Nigeria be tied to the lordship of citizens who are below average on IQ levels, who are the very same leaders of Nigeria that destroyed the future and destinies of Nigeria and offered nothing , and have nothing to offer apart from mindless looting, corruption ,division, hatred, tribalism, ethnic/religious bigotry and injustice. It is up to Nigerians to rise now and decide to bury those divisive tendencies that threw up an obasanjo in the place of Ekwueme or Falae who are better leaders, yaradua in the place of sule lamido,Donald duke, pat utomi etc,Jonathan in the place of odili, duke, etc or buhari in the place of the array of distinguished Nigerians like soludo, peter obi, dangote, utomi, ovia, elumelu, etc.May God help Nigeria and preserve her within this remaining 3 years of class calamitous ineptitude ,promise and fail without remorse, and sleepwalking leadership. May God open our minds as a nation to choose the right people to lead Nigeria out of this self induced disaster ,and error of judgment called CHANGE.

Do you know, the surest way to save a virus infested host is to push it close to the point of death. The virus always dies first. It is risky but unless you have the time to break down the genome of the twisted coding and rearrange it, you do not have a choice. Things will turn around quicker if the people rally behind the mind trying to save the host. Nigeria needs to be saved for the sake of our children. We can’t have it any other way. Help push to clean our systems.

          • ayobamiba

Bros ,the analogy of the virus and the host is not applicable here except the virus contracted via the hate filled hallucinations and afflicted depraved souls of the hate bigots .Nigeria was doing pretty good with enough rooms for improvements when Mr integrity arrived. It is the effects of his hate, tribal, ethnic, religious bigotry coupled with malicious vengeance spirit that afflicted Nigeria ,and brought her into bankruptcy and comatose conditions. May God save our nation.

Anyone expecting anything positive from this government is simply wasting his/her time. Lai Muhammed has confirmed that Buhari can reverse himself anytime, same thing he has been doing all year. APC is simply a party built on lies, deceit and propaganda. Same way they have denied all their campaign promises yet exploiting the poor masses while asking for more sacrifice.

Olatubosun, Hope your pay for this job is worth it? You can invest some money in a proper English tutorial class, there you can learn the basics. Having such a long epistle as this one without comma nor full-stop is quite disappointing and leaves bad taste in the mouth. Brush up please or the world will leave you behind.

          • Olatubosun

            You are crazy

          • Martins

Go back to school, you’re a complete disgrace to your paymasters and family. Go and learn simple English, everything shouldn’t start and end with insults with you.

Most times there are no basic punctuation marks on your sentences, no comma nor full-stop. After one shambolic year of illiterate Bokohari, GEJ appears to be a genius in governance. It wouldn’t hurt to be a sympathizer.

        • No Bull …..

GEJ is a genius and a erudite who could not detect a crime going on right under his nose. Interesting. It wouldn’t hurt be a sympathizer indeed.

Print, electronic, online and social media is there hype that’s why rather than focus on major micro and macro economic issues even the socio economic they rushed to deal with Media gaps

I am not any bothers Praise singer I am a voice speaking for the poor, down trodden and homeless people who do not have any one to speak for them

Believe me when the judgement of God will come every liar has a place in His curse

Let the people know the truth and that truth will set us all free

You are not paid and you are perverting the truth then even your judgement will be worse because for no reason you seek to subvert the poor in there understanding of the reality on ground

It is on record that middle aged people in Nigeria are dying in there numbers daily due to the hardship and the excruciating economic ENVIROMENT they find them selves

Am not here to defend government or criticise them just tell the truth the people millions of Nigerian masses are suffering period

Did the last administration not fight Ebola that would have wiped away millions of our people both poor and rich that today ordinary tomatoes got Ebola our people are now cooking with pepper and tatasi

I am beginning to see that this administration is unlucky and came by sorcery and charms except that Nigerians will not be going through what they are going through today

It is certain, this administration is already doing that

  • Austin Uduogu

The President is wise. Apart from the legal implications, releasing the names could put looters in harm’s way. We want a civilized system and not one in which mob justice reigns. Do recall the case with Saraki…We’d like to see stolen funds returned not the mobbing of thieves. At the right time the names could be made public for all the practical benefits of doing so

    • Cincinnatus

Everybody already know the people on the list. Nigerians won’t do anything. They’ll just be praying Jesus give them justice. No one is threatened by a mob.

I HOPE THE ADMINISTRSTION FAILS WOEFULLY AS IS NOW OBVIOUS. The man expended much energy fighting corruption this past year and yet has not recovered a kobo of looted fund. That is the real reason he did not give any names.

There are only about two groups of people that voted for buhari, the first set are the bewitched almajiri imbeciles who are incapable of thinking on their own,who were misguided by their immoral political, religious and traditional leadership that GEJ hated AREWA and was dividing the north, they were told that Jonathan was handing Nigeria over to those they defeated in the civil battle. was on this premise that they voted their most trusted religious and tribal warrior and fundamentalist war general to go retrieve their power which they saw as their birth right back.the second group was the tinubu led hollow minded free education products who were baptized with the treacherous mischievous evil spirit of awolowo and were suffering from ibophobia who were told that Jonathan have given all their jobs to their most hated rival .they trooped out in their treachery and used all the tricks they can lay hold on from awolowo book of treachery and betrayal to undermine Jonathan and opted for buhari who they were told that he hated their most hated rival with passion so as to give them back, what Jonathan have given to their rivals. to these two groups , so long as their aims and objectives are realised,to hell with performance indexes. Nigeria can be run aground, it is non of their businesses. To those who love Nigeria, who want to see their nation great, prosper, united ,peaceful ,etc . may I announce to you that if you put hope on this government fulfilling your desires, you shall be hugely disappointed. This government did not come to build economy, ensure unity, justice, equity or fairness. This government is not here to keep to any promises, this government is here to give power to those that owns it.let’s wait for 2019 ,so we can begin to talk about promises and keeping of it.this is my candid advice to patriotic citizens. Welcome to may 29.surely God shall deliver Nigeria from this self inflicted wound and calamitous ineptitude.

its Obvious you are a paid commentator at least the recovered loot is being put to some use

      • ayobamiba

Which recovered loot, which use, where is it been used.?
Can you call funds that are still under investigation and judicial processes where the courts of first instance are still hearing arguments and counter arguments , recovered loot? This matters shall get to the apex courts. what if the cases turned out to be like the election petitions where APC manipulated the tribunals and the lower courts , only to be shamed by the apex courts. APC is a terrible fraud against Nigeria. Open your eyes this thing Na big scamoooo

    • dele20

      Sure, Pmb is working great

  • Batotchu Onos

the truth may God search every one and reward them according to there deeds to the one that is subverting the truth while millions of Nigerians are dying He knows what to do and to the thief that stole He knows what to do but men its better we did not get a dime and pervert the truth all these paid molders of public opinion I pity you all

Are you seeing what people are going through in Nigeria and you say it is well

  • Dazmillion

Something funny going on here. Why this atiluogwu dance over releasing names and the amount of loot stolen by convicted criminals? I understand not wanting to release names of suspects in on going criminal cases. But why hid looters who returned money and were not charged to court?

I repeat, something fishy is going on here. Buhari you better redeem yourself because it seems you have started listening to politicians and want to start behaving like one.

    • Osakue

      Abi o

  • Dearyombo

The APC government can not be trusted in any capacity to deliver on her promises….APC is no different from PDP! >99 % of the APC members have been in the saddle of government rule since the start of democracy. SO NOTHING HAS CHANGED! APC only saw an opportunity to oust the past government because of its woeful performance but they themselves have no plan to do the right thing because of vested interests….

  • Otile

Buhari must be hiding something seriously near and dear to him. It is nonsense to say that he is deliberately hiding the name of the criminals for some legal reason. So far nobody has lynched or harmed the looters exposed by the Panama scandal. Col Danjuma, Dauda Mark, Tinubu, Saraki, Uba, Dangote among others are still walking freely as if they did not hide any money. Buhari may never reveal the hundreds of Nigerian criminals who hid away Nigerian money offshore for fear of exposing his friends and relatives among them.

  • ubinado23

    @dearyombo:disqus

    MUHAMADU BUHARI
shoots himself in the foot with his atrocious judgment. He has fallen from
grace to grass in consequence, with 32% approval rating in under nine months,
due to his usually faulty judgment calls. Since May 29th, 2015 that he took
office Buhari has not taken a correct decision – a single correct decision. By
appointing Lai Muhammed as his Information Minister, President Buhari signaled
to the world not to believe a word that comes from his crass and worsening
ramshackle government of lies and silly excuses for incompetence. No serious mind
reads what Lai Muhammed says, not even at leisure. His visceral lies-telling
propensity suggests to Nigerians that Lai Muhammed either needs a shrink
or some medical attention at the least. Lai Muhammed is an animal called man.

    • Figaro Antonio

BUHARI’s WORST MISTAKE IN MY OWN VIEW IS HIS FAILURE TO DISSOLVE CABINET TODAY.

HE IS NOW DEEMED TO COMMIT HIMSELF TO CARRYING HIS FAILURES INTO HIS MID-TERM.

      • ayobamiba

The point had been that buhari was thinking 1983 and living 1984 . little did he understand this is 2016 .1983-84,buhari can conjure anything and do anything with ouster clauses but that isn’t possible by today.hate Jonathan as much as you like, peddle falsehoods as much as you desire against the best leader Nigeria ever came across, but the truth remained that he lifted democracy and rule of law beyond buharis capacities and comprehension. Nigerians, what buhari and his axis of evil party APC have been broadcasting to us had been a highly crafted ,formulated lies, falsehoods, hearsays, half truths and malicious propaganda and evil blackmails to permanently destroy and tarnish the good image and great esteem of Jonathan in the minds and estimation of Nigerians.buhari through EFCC have been the formulator, the accuser, the broadcaster, the trial courts and the enforcement agents against those who hate .the reason for his macabre dance is simply to deny nigerians the alternative choices having known Ab initio that he has nothing to offer and that sooner than later the impatient Nigerians shall ask that Jonathan should come back having tasted the wine and the water.this is the reason why APC started on an evil frenzy of completely undermining and demarketing Jonathan and PDP with the highest level of lies, falsehoods, malicious propaganda and blackmail unrivalled in the history of Nigeria. Many myopic empty followers of buhari can’t see beyond their nose because their souls have been depraved and blighted by APC .at the end of this naked almajiri dance,it will be a huge surprise to Nigerians that what APC is calling recovered loot is the unsubstantiated hate filled hallucinations in their hollow brains where they saw Jonathan looting $15b from a budget of $10b.APC government is a huge fraud.

    • KennBest

I honestly agree with you. Not a single individual has been prosecuted and convicted. One full year of back and forth promises. So empty an administration.

  • ed

Nigerian get a government that reflect our value. Corruption fighting corruption. President winnig party are busy looting the recoved loot. We don’t demand accountability. President Buhari is just as corrupt as the others. Buhari is good at persecution of others.
    The best defence is offence,

  • KennBest

Very useless country currently being run by incompetent persons. We all voted for you but unfortunately, you have become ineffective in running Nigeria. Today it is ‘we have recovered stolen money’. Tomorrow it is ‘we will release their name’. Not one of them is in jail. Ordinary Saraki you can’t do anything about him. Dieziani is holidaying in London right under your nose and its one year after. Buhari, Nigerians are fast losing faith in your administration. Get to working and do something or else, you’re a gonna come next presidential election. Quite honestly, you’ve failed our expectations so far. Those you have dared to prosecute are light weight idiots like Metuh and NIMASA DG. Please get to work and forget all the back and forth approach to governance. So frustrating.

    • elnas

It is disgusting to see people make claims that “we voted for you…” when they did not just to score cheap points..smh

    • Gbola

Do you know that there’s separation of powers AND that Buhari belongs to the Executive branch and NOT the Judiciary ??

Outcomes of cases can’t be determined by Buhari.

If he was to ORDER & AUTHORIZE for the Outcomes Of cases, it’s this same you that would label Buhari a Dictator.

      Saraki is in Court.
      Dasuki is in Court.
      Metuh is in court.
      Fani-Kayode is also in court.
Some Mds of Banks are also there as well.

      And the list goes on.

What else do you want Buhari to do ??

      Abegiiii.

As per not naming the looters, imagine this scenario —

Suppose some of the looters Plea bargained to return ALL STOLEN MONEY on Conditions that they are not Publicly Shamed.

Even though Buhari promised before all this that he would name the looters, hasn’t events changed assuming he accepts the bargain ??

By these Looters not fighting the cases in court where we know the case can take decades, is it wrong for EFCC to accept this Bargain ??

And once the bargain has been accepted, do you expect the President to renege and disclose their names ??

If he does this, would others even bother returning stolen loot ??
Wouldn’t they rather choose to go the Saraki way by fighting the case for decades in the Court where they might even be lucky enough to find a Kafarati type of judge who might accept Ghana-must-go bags and pronounce them not guilty ??

      Abegiii ojare.
Wether he names them or not, I’m more concerned with him disclosing how much has been so far recovered NOT the names.

      • Pete

        Another APC robot!
Who forced Presidiot Buhari to make the promise?
Can a man who truly merits to be promoted to the rank of General continually talk without understanding the meaning and implications of his words?
Even if Presidiot Buhari climbs your sister, you will look for ways to defend him.

        • Gbola

Well you’re free to jump into the lagoon since he’s changed his mind.

          • MC

OK, so you’ve run out of clear reasoning, so he is now free to ‘jump into the lagoon’? Why start what you can’t finish oga?

        • Gbola

          Yep.

It’s no different to Jonathan who said — ” I don’t give a damn ” despite the fact that he did claim to intially give a damn regarding Asset Declarations.

So cry me a river biko.

      • MC

Separation of powers indeed. But he was quick to announce publicly that Kanu can never be released on bail and still kept his words when courts granted him bails. Pls shut up abeg.

      • Chris Osborne

They are in the court for galleries, Buharis with his mouth declared them criminals which is prejudice to the case already in the court as you said. You Buhari guys seems to think from you anus…

        • Gbola

          Good for you..

Take Buhari to Court for prejudicing your caae.

    • Pete

Just for your information since you and other APC gullibloes were masturbating over the ex-NIMASA DG’s conviction, that man was arraigned in 2013.
Presidiot Buhari hasn’t secured any conviction.

      • bootypoppin

Well i am sure if he had jailed anyone not by the rule of law you would be the first person to take a mic and shout dictator!!

      • dele20

        Sharaaap, you are drunk

  • Lanre

This jungle administration will be worse than Jonathan’s. And you can eventually thank me when they are out of office. Even without reading Lai’s comments, I knew Buhari was falling foul of the law, the reason he could not give names of those he claims have returned money. If you know what you are doing and you are either not senile or incompetent, you will not make a claim and two weeks after reverse yourself. As for Lai Mohammed, I have no comments and cannot be disappointed. Before him there was Jerry Gana, Walter Ofonagoro, Tom Ikimi, Uche Chukwumerije. I know Nigeria like the back of my minds and Lai Mohammed is the least of individuals to meet any expectation or standard from me.

    • wallnuts

      @disqus_oMAXjVRhNR:disqus

      Muhamadu Buhari does not
know the difference between being the President of a country and being a
Constable in a Police station looking for thieves. His primitive understanding
of country administration, his crude and rustic persona, alienate people.

Nigeria is now between the rock and the hard place. It cannot exit the Buhari mess
without a passed Senate resolution for impeachment, or by a military coup d’etat,
and yet, cannot live in peace and prosperity under Buhari’s utter mis-direction.

    • Osakue

My brother fine he did not give us names what AMOUNT RECOVERED SO FAR.

  • Osakue

I don’t trust this government anymore. I see no difference with past government. It is a petty we have a country called Nigeria. Leadership is hopeless. Now I believe those who say we entered one chance

    • Catch-22

      @Osakue:disqus

How RAJI FASHOLA destroyed the Buhari government

MUHAMADU BUHARI is his own worst enemy. He was warned but he did not listen. He was warned by
the APC party members not to appoint a dullard like RAJI FASHOLA as Minister. Buhari did not listen.
At last, it is RAJI FASHOLA who brought President Buhari to a great fall and into utter disrepute.

By totally failing on the job of ENERGY MINISTER, and for throwing Nigeria into utter darkness
for six months running, the zero megawatts Raji Fashola tied Muhamadu Buhari to the stakes
for execution by a firing squad of history. That is what happens to an adamant president
who sees ulterior motive in a honest advice.

Raji Fashola is a nobody. He has no original thoughts of his own. He is a rogue, publicly
declared wanted for financial crimes by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission
{ICPC] on 3rd September, 2015. Three weeks later, President Muhamadu Buhari appointed
the same indicted Raji Fashola as a Minister just so as to impede Raji Fashola’s detention
in prison cell for later arraignment in a court of law. Whilst doing this tomfoolery,
President Buhari believed himself to be smart and clever, but a prudent man

would do none of those things and start out with a theft-tainted Cabinet of rogues
and thieves. Now, President Buhari must face the consequence of his buffoonery.
Buhari must be let to stew in his own juice. Fools die.

      • Osakue

Bros I thought the discussion was about the looted funds. I am sorry but I can’t agree with you on Fashola

    • Public Accountant

@Osakue:disqus : Between May 29th last year and now President Buhari has spent over THREE TRILLION NAIRA.
Where is the impact? And if there’s no impact, where is the money? That’s the question. Buhari strikes poses
for the camera inside a presidential jet whilst his country sinks in a mess. What sort of presidency is this?
Not one thing made better but instead made worse in a year! This is a tragedy that’s befallen Nigeria.

This govt is committed to deliver unlike the former govt that was characterized by cluelessness and corruption

      • Chris Osborne

Can you stop posting for a month?

  • Jeno Cosi

Why is APC and Buhari becoming more and more like PDP and Jonathan in every way.

    • Pete

In your diseased heart you know that Jonathan was never like this pit-of-h hell liar called Presidiot Buhari.
      Enjoy your stup1d choice.

      • bootypoppin

I doubt lying is a character popularly known bout PMB unless u choose to believe what you want to believe. Every one knows Buhari is very blunt and honest. Communication with the Nigerian people is something he really needs to work with. And yes GEJ is not like PMB. If Jonathan was confronted with this much pressure and turmoil in naija today he would have flipped and buckled under pressure by now.

        • Pete

What pressure are you talking about; is it the one he brought upon himself by his divisive and jaundiced policies of exclusion?
And what turmoil can be worse than the evil activities and sabotage by Buhari and his APC gang that Jonathan glided over for 2 years or more?
Any problems that Presidiot Buhari is facing today are creations of his morbid religious and ethnic fanaticism as well as his mental limitations.
GEJ remains the best Nigerian president in recent history.
The gains of his administration are being reversed daily by this imbecile as you can see.

          • bootypoppin

Yes that one that nigerians external reserves were depleted and not saved for rainy days ahead even though we had an oil boom jence causing a forex crisis. Yes that one is his fault evem though he met it at the inception of his administration. The chibok girls..boko haram and the new kids on the block called the avengers are all his faults too. I get you

          • bootypoppin

Like i mentiones earlier..Buhari keeps his promises but not exactly when you want him to or how you want it. I cannot remember any president nigeria has ever had that has recovered this much and made it public…just saying

          • Pete

I admire your faith in Presidiot Buhari but Buhari and his government have been one big lying machine.
I’ll let u in on a secret about his so-called recoveries.
Liar Mohammed has just tallied EFCC, ICPC’s seizures and recoveries over the years and presented them as Buhari’s.
            What a government!

          • bootypoppin

            Wait..how do u know this???

          • Pete

Because humans like me were part of those who collated the seizures and recoveries after the fraudulent government requested the info from the anti-corruption agencies.

          • bootypoppin

Since you have insider information. Would you then say that this administration has not recover anything significant? Or has taken any significant measure to curb curroption? The way I see it you are looking at the glass half empty while I am looking at it half full

          • Pete

I can see that some people, in spite of the overwhelming evidence staring them in the face about the duplicity, incompetence, and religio-ethnic slant of Presidiot Buhari’s government, are desperately rummaging for something to hold on to as the achievement of the government they gullibly supported.
If you have made significant recoveries, why spice with lies?
Why are the words LIES and LYING being consistently associated with this gang since its campaign days?

    • dpfrank

PMB is far far better than Jonathan

      • dele20

        You are right

    • dele20

The difference is clear,…………. Pdp is dead

  • tsunami1earthquake

Lai Mohammed, the minister of propaganda and the Squealer of the Buhari administration, is at it again! Yea, the president has the right to reverse himself, says the minister of propaganda. Yea, for legal reasons, the president could not disclose the amount of loot recovered, says the minister of propaganda. Yea, the president was advised against disclosing the amount for legal reasons, says the minister of propaganda. On and on and on!

A government that dwells on lies and deception.

    • dpfrank

Please go and cure yourself of hatred, it will destroy your life

      • dele20

        Better

    • dele20

More loots, we still need to recover for the betterment of this country…

Apart from that, do you think the corrupt officials are not willing to have the clue on how much has yet been recovered from their surplus loots.? The legal reasons as to refrain from disclosure yet, it is a best step …… Use your deep thought

  • Mizch

Angry Peoples Country. A rule of Wailing Wailers with a President who eats his own vomit. “But Mr. Mohammed said his principal has the right to reverse himself.”

    • dpfrank

You really have displayed your hate, we understand

      • dele20

Do not mind him, he has no insight, he lacks deep thought

      • Mizch

Dpfrnak, learn to attack ideas. “Wailing wailers” and “eating of one’s vomit” are the words of the presidential spoken and the the president himself. And most Nigerians are suffering and angry, are they not?

  • favourtalk

It is better, so that others can release those stolen money on time and not be too afraid, what we need is our money back

  • ayobamiba

Welcome to may 29.surely God shall deliver Nigeria from this self inflicted wound and calamitous ineptitude.oh

    • bootypoppin

This jingle is getting old abeg. Use another one. Shebi una said he is boko haram now?? That jingle don dey die small small…now is almajiri abi? Since u are very learned why dont u use your wisdom and exposure to became village head of ur kingdom then make ur kingdom as a model example for nigerians.

      • ayobamiba

What jingle do you think that will amuse the dead,it is not about old and new jingles,it is about making right and wrong choices based on convictions. The choice of A buhari is traumatic error of judgment for our nation. That’s the point . Another time don’t choose based on myopic considerations, choose right so there shall be no regret as Nigerians are doing today across board.on a day Nigerians are supposed to be celebrating democracy, instead of joyful music ,celebrations and dancing, citizens across board are agonizing ,wailing, lamenting and are in painful moods.may God take away this sorrow from Nigeria.

        • bootypoppin

Obviously Nigerians are in pain we get that. But Concrete solutions and policies do not take effect over night. For example you want a budget that can address the problems of the country yet you want it to be signed within a week or two. Theres certainly one thing about this gov and iy is rule of law..it is the bases of a great country. The government does make some ill timed decisions sometime but what about the good calls they have made so far?? We havent acknowledged what good this goverment has done but we keep hammering and hammering on its cracks. Buhari does keep to his promises to the best of his abilities but certainly not exactly when and how you want it. He does delay but he will fulfill it eventually. If you look around you even in your own house you will see a reflection of nigeria in at least one of your family members but we only expect gov to be the ones changing and making a difference not us the common people too. Personally i think its tough being PMB now and i also think he needs to communicate more with the people he is serving since its not his personal business

          • ayobamiba

. ‘For example you want a budget that can address the problems of the country yet you want it to be signed within a week or two. Theres certainly one thing about this gov and iy is rule of law..it is the bases of a great country. The government does make some ill timed decisions sometime but what about the good calls they have made so far?? ‘My bro let’s stop hypocrisy, hypocrisy and deciet is the reason why Nigeria is in this shape today.please can you say this your rule of law to dasuki,FFKShites, ipob peaceful protesters being killed at Onitsha today, please what rule of law is buhari following in his lopsided appointments ,what rule of law did buhari follow when he single handedly opened the vault and released about a trillion naira to APC governors who used their workers salaries to fund APC presidential campaign. What rule of law did buhari follow when he unilaterally increased pump price of fuel without ppra board, what rule of law did buhari follow when they awards nnpc refinery contracts without due process, quoting kachikwu, what rule of law is buhari following by arresting opposition party members and keeping them incommunicado while shopping for clues and evidences against them.what rule of law is buhari following in placing travel ban on governors of opposition party without valid court order, what rule of law did buhari followed in sacking 15 VC s and replacing them with his cronies contrary to the law.please don’t make me irritated. Buhari is an unrepentant dictator. I have not seen any good part from buhari since may 29 except pains, sorrow and tears he brought on Nigeria. If you have any please state it in black and white let’s see it.buhari is a national error of judgment on Nigeria.

    • dpfrank

Story for the gods, we know that PMB will deliver, 16years rot by PDP cannot be fixed within few months in power, keep your hatred to yourself

      • Senator D

I recall Obasanjo telling us that decades of rot brought about by military rule in Nigeria cannot be changed overnight… I Love this blame game in Nigeria… Total failures them all I say! Did Buhari NOT know that PDP has been ruling for 16-years? In 2019 if another party wins they will tell us that 4-years of the failure of APC cannot be fixed overnight then the circle of blame continues…. Shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • ayobamiba

Already the man have delivered according to your agreements ,baba kekere is number two, fashola is 3 in 1,kemi has taken okonjos seat.etc what else ,the guy have over performed jare .

  • MC

Buhari is gaining so much reputation as a man who never keeps promises. Liar Moha himself dances to every tone, even that of death, in order to please Buhari, exposing himself for what he is; a classical sycophant.

    • dpfrank

But you have not made any point here

    • dele20

I see this comment senseless, I do believe someone else typed it for you because I do not believe in downgrading your brain

    • dele20

Pmb fights corruption with his strength in courage, sacrificiality and altruism just for you and me to gain freedom from corrupt leaders, for our nation to become worthy, for Nigerian wealth to become stable,…… Why must you be an ingrate?

  • bootypoppin

The comments below reminds me of someone whos nagging, complaining and condeming a car for sale. The person checks the car no scratches, good engine, good suspension and good interior but just because the insurance has expired or not comprehensive enough. He takes a microphone and condemns the car and discredit the seller. They call these people the “apethetic type”, always bitter and complaining and looking for holes in everything. Its clear a lot of people in this comment section are the apethetic type. Its clear their senses go numb when it comes to observing any good this regime has done. But trust me they have a PHD in digging up and exagerrating faults. Since Buhari is a human being it is natural that he will flop in some areas. Hence till 2019 una get plenty work wo. As for me i would rather like PMB in the helms of affairs during these very trying period for Nigeria and majority of oil producing nations than GEJ any day anytime. But thats me. Keep up with the nagging and hole picking its good for administration and online frenzy! Plus newspapers are making tonnes of money with feedbacks from wailers!!!

  • dele20

recovery of the loots, that is the most importance and using it for our economic growth and development,…… We really appreciate your efforts, our president

  • MC

The reason he didn’t release the names of these looters is because there are too many top APC members involved

    • dele20

Stop lying, the previous president, gej is pdp who absolutely supported corruption and engage in it, he gave excessive room for the pdp leaders to sabotage our nation in corruption….. We Nigerians are not blind to reason and to discern the fact

      • Max Jon

You sound educated but give pointless arguments, even though deep down your conscience tells you otherwise, reasons could be you are directly or indirectly getting financial benefits from this administration. Bros always strive to speak the truth regardless of political, tribe or religious affiliation. Cheers!

    • dpfrank

It’s is an open secret that PDP members are the looters, they are Jonathan ‘s cronies

      • MC

They’re here! Buhari’s defenders. There’s no way Buhari would mention those names and exclude Raji Fashola, Rothiefmi Amechi, Rauf Aregbeshola and co and these are guys that funded his campaign. He wouldn’t want to stir the hornet’s nest.

        • dpfrank

Do you have any prove that they stole? Can you defend your allegations in court against them?

        • Senator D

By 2019 when I become President… I will spend 8-years probing APC’s source of campaign funds whilst Nigeria burns… If anyone complain by then I will send fire and brimstone to burn that person. Mind you I will ONLY give appointment according to how you vote. So beware of how you and your kinsmen vote for me in 2019….Hahahahahahaaaa

    • dele20

To call a spade a spade, the problem Nigeria is facing today, is through the damage caused by the previous administation,Pmb is an incorruptible president who is still in power and antagonises corruption, everywhere is now tight, anti-corruption is now rampantly championing corruption ……. It means that the freedom of corruption was in the previous regime, favorably to the pdp leaders…………. I mean the PDP are the corrupt

      • Senator D

Just like the Buhari led government topled Shagari and said the problem Nigeria was facing was caused by Shagari? Bros abeg make we hear word jare… Unah think say nah only unah vote for Buhari? Please! Please!! don’t defend what is wrong. He did wrong by saying one thing and rescinding later. It smacks of lack of integrity.

        • dele20

I disagree that pmb was wrong,……… Do you think you are the only one anticipating the details of the loot recovered? What of the corrupt officials that wants to use the information to compare and contrast the not- yet recovered loot? …..I understand your feelings, but this administation understands the best step

I personally support and advise this administation to conceal her intention as to recover more loots

          • Senator D

Bros are you talking to a kid? Probably I think you know better. What was the legal implications of the Panama Papers? Please spare me the defence… Are you now the de facto defence minister?

  • dele20

for some legal reasons, I really concur that it is not yet to disclosed the details of the recovered loot……….

    • Factsay

Since when did Buhari start obeying law?

      • dele20

He always obeys law……. But as well says No to corruption…… I do believe I have given you best reply

        • Senator D

Who obeys the laws? Buhari??? AAAhhh Ogbodo kparo! Kini? You dare look Nigerians in the face and tell them that Buhari respects the rule of law? Are we that daft??? Becareful ooo if NOT I will swear for you, beni ma begi fun yin…

PBM is in leaning process he should know before giving information out for public he must first discuss with his council members.

  • dpfrank

This simply shows that Mr President respects the rule of law, you have my support sir

    • dele20

      I agree with you

    • Amareal

      I agree with you completely

      • Chris Osborne

Why wont you Paid bot. you do the work of your pay master so you must agree.

    • Odus

Especially when some of the culprit are still in court defending themselves. In a democracy, you’re not guilty until it’s proven beyond the reasonable doubt.

      • Chris Osborne

So when he said they are criminals and has refused the court order … he still obeys the rule of law… and in the media its paid bots like you that tries them and praises the actions. Now you want soft spot for him obeying the rule of law…….

        • Odus

A “reasonable” person (s) will no comment outside the court on a case before a court. The case is being reviewed by the court and not in the public. Doing so will deny the defendants their rights! kapish???

    • Chris Osborne

Oya carry on …. how much were you paid and how much did you charge per post….

  • George

This callous man Liar Mohammed is worst than Chikwumerije, Tim Ikimi and Wadas Nas put together. Very shameful man. I learn he has a family.

      • Chris Osborne

        paid bot is here

    • dele20

How do you mean? I really see the minister Lai Muhammad as a good man who loves his country and doing everything possible as to uplift his nation……………

      • Senator D

Yes he must “Lie” to protect his taskmaster… If nah you nko? Bros Nigeria hard now so you need to defend the one who plays the piper. Just as Prof Sagay doesn’t understand what “sketchy” means anymore! Bros I Love Naija die…

        • dele20

If we love Nigeria, let us be the source of light to reflect to this Nigeria and support this administation for the benefit of our nation

          • Senator D

And do I look like am not supporting this administration? Please do you know the price of Transport fare from Mile 2 to Oshodi? Or Mile 2 to CMS? Bros abeg Nigerians are suffering and it’s not Jonathan… Stop the blame game for now! Have you gone to eat mama-put recently? Have you seen the piece of tire they cut-out for you calling it meat? Is this also PDP’s fault? I expect the minister for Agriculture to hit the ground running and NOT looking for grazing grounds for fulani herdsmen. Bros abeg just leave me alone I dey vex!!!!

        • Chris Osborne

          dele20 is Lai mohamed…

    • dele20

HMIC is Sacrificial and altruistic he is not callous

  • Ologunguntere

Hahahaha After all Boko Is not Haram. Doesn’t this presidunce think b4 he speaks? What a shameful nation

    • dele20

By their fruits, we shall know them, you are a Nigerian enemy of progress

  • dele20

I do not even expect the details of the loot recovered from the corrupt officials to be yet released as we still need more loots to be recovered from the corrupt officials

    • Factsay

Current officials are looting the recovered money thats why they want the details to remain secret

      • Senator D

When I said that Buhari’s family members and allies are looting Nigeria dry I was abused by many. Maybe they thought I was PDP… The truth is the monies being recovered by EFCC is being stolen. Recently, some monies returned (Foreign Currencies) by some top military officers are gone from the EFCC vaults. Who ordered that? They are plunging the foreign currencies back into the BLACK MARKET! Nigerians are too blind to see the abracadabra happening. Buhari is preparing for 2019 and he is beginning to lose focus of his first tenure…

      • dele20

Wrong imagination……… Tell me that you are a comedian

        • Factsay

          Fantastically corrupt bingo

          • dele20

            Sharaaap

    • Chris Osborne

@dele20 when a criminal is arrested and charged to court his face is show to the world and he remains innocent until the court proves him guilty…. Buhari said criminals returned our looted money so let us know these criminals as they are already guilty….. He has condemned Dasuki when the court has not even said this man is guilty..why not release the names if there were any recovered fund>

  • Factsay

    Secrecy promotes corruption.
Lack of transparency and accountability leads to re-looting of recovered money.

Buhari is known for abuse of Rule of Law and impunity, using legal reason for avoiding to keep his promise has undermined his self-claimed integrity status

    • Cincinnatus

You’re right on secrecy but the game is too complex not to play coy when needed. I don’t recommend it sha. The government needs to act and prove to the people they are working for them or it’ll erode their support.

      • Chris Osborne

        emmm!!!!!!!!!! Recommend it bro….

  • KennBest

With all this back and forth, Nigerians already know you’ll doctor the names on the list. Publishing names but not even securing a conviction is nonsense to us. Enough of the politics, already. Nigerians are getting tired of Buhari and his ministers. Too many excuses from APC. Quite honestly, I’m fast losing faith in this government and its approach to governance. You can’t secure Saraki’s conviction as he still galivants on the Senate floor. Dieziani is living in London on a fake cancer and Jonathan was given a safe passage way to Cote D’Ivoire. Nigeri under APC is fast becoming another joke like it was under Jonathan.

    • Chris Osborne

Do you have common sense? There is a law that will convict any criminal when the educated heads prosecute it not when the academically disadvantaged heads prosecute the wrong cases at the wrong places.

  • tundemash

—How can Buhari release list when he himself has refused to declare his assets?
—How can Buhari release the list when he knows he is a serial liar?
—How can he release the list when he knows he cheated and lied to INEC about his certificate? ..that he never passed his high school exams

Buhari is a shame not only to Nigeria but to the whole of Africa and humanity. Such a clueless fellow who believes that 97% Votes + 5% Votes are EQUAL to 100% going by his assertion in US does not deserve to be even a District head in a Banana Republic.

    • Senator D

This is NOT Tundemash! I believe his account has been hacked!

      • MC

        Really!? Hahaha!

        • Senator D

          Doesn’t sound like the Tunde I know…

          • Chris Osborne

That is change….. APC want us to change…. Tundemash is changing we will see the end of the change very soon… may be he will want Yoruba Avangers to take over the west…. who knows where the change will land us all….

  • Senator D

Every government tells us that they have the solutions to our problem. But when they get into power they say, “We never knew it was this bad”… We are tired of the high cost of survival in Nigeria.

  • Senator D

By the way… Is Buhari answerable to any of you? Please leave the old fella alone… By the way can anyone borrow me Kerosine? The thing don scarce for my area for nearly 8-months now….

    • Chris Osborne

Try Gas bro now that some are still seen… soon it may go dry as well

  • thusspokez

… “Of course, he has a right to reverse himself on that,” he said.

What on earth is this man talking about? This is not about rights! Every time Lai Mohammed opens his mouth, he puts his foot into it. He is a complete disaster as a spokesperson for the Buhari government.

  • thusspokez

… “Yes, he initially said so (that he’ll give specific details about recovered loot), but he was advised against doing so for legal reasons,”

What are the legal reasons? Surely, a prevarication!

    • Darlington

A confirmation that our president is an illiterate. Was he not aware of the legal reasons before he made the promise?

      • jude L/A USA

You are so rude. My guy, that is the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Rubbish!

        • Darlington

Why won’t a president know legal implications of his unguarded utterances? Our president is rude not me. Insufferable hypocrite!

        • Chris Osborne

Not rude, he is very modest. Did he lie????????????

      • thusspokez

Indeed if the government has recovered assets from some rogues, — as it claims to have done — what could possibly be the reason not to disclose the identities of the rogues and the assets recovered. I don’t see the logic.

      • Chris Osborne

hahahaha bro you are a true citizen of this gone country Nigeria. Very good response.

    • Chris Osborne

When did he start taking advice form people????????????

  • forestgee

By the time those details are released, they will be incomplete…some of the loots will disappear into private pockets

  • Truth

“Why Buhari did not release details of stolen asset recovered from corrupt officials is because want to keep the public in darkness so to have a chance of looting the money for the second time” – Lai Mohammed

  • Truth

“Why Buhari did not release details of stolen asset recovered from corrupt officials is because he want to keep the public in darkness so to have a chance of looting the money for the second time” – Lai Mohammed

  • Truth

Its astonishing to him (Buhari) that almost the entire list comprises of APC leaders including Prof Atahiru Jega, Bola Tinubu, A Abubaka, OBJ, Lai Mohamed among others. He wants to doctor it, remove names, loot as much as he can and then tell Nigerians of left coins.

    • Adelabu Olumide

      U don’t know that…..pls don’t be a confusionist

    • Cincinnatus

Hmmmm, How do you know this??

    • Julius

lolz. There you go ! I bet you have the list an d you were at the meeting where the decision was made.

    • Jacky

It’s unfortunate that Nigeria is made up of many half-humans, miscreants, thieves, irresponsible, spineless and senseless individuals as its citizens. Those half-humans don’t think of their future or their children’s future but only the temporary crumbs from the table of looters….the crumbs will soon runout! But God shall shame our enemies and strengthen President Buhari for the job at hand.

      • Chris Osborne

Sorry to tell you that its only you who is the most unworthy citizen of this gone country called Nigeria. In the face of the glaring truth you still carry the propaganda…………..

    • Senator D

Prof Attahiru Jega did not collect much money ooooo… It was just the small Ghana-Must go brought to his official Abuja residence that he received from APC. And also he was threatened not to return home if he fails to install Buhari…. Please leave him out of this…

With the glitter of fool’s gold, Nigeria’s recently elected President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in the United States in July uttering time-worn democracy vows to President Barack Obama and his administration. Among other things, he pledged at the United States Institute for Peace to combat graft with procedures that would be “fair, just, and scrupulously follow due process and the rule of law, as enshrined in our constitution.”

Skepticism is in order—a conclusion reinforced by the ongoing persecution of of former National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki for alleged money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.

    But first some background.

Mr. Buhari initially tasted power as a military dictator following a coup de tat in 1983. His dictatorship was earmarked by chilling human rights abuses. Take the word of Nigerian Nobel Prize laureate Wole Soyinka.

Among other things, Mr. Soyinka highlights Mr. Buhari’s draconian edicts, exemplified by Decree 20 under which the judicial murders of Nigerian citizens Lawal Ojuolape, Bernard Ogedengbe, and Bartholomew Owoh were authorized. Mr. Obedengbe was executed for a crime that did not carry the death penalty at the time it was committed in violation of the universal revulsion of ex post facto laws.

Soyinka adds that these crimes were executed in defiance of pleas from virtually every sector of Nigeria and the international community—a grisly precedent for subsequent dictator Sani Abasha’s hanging of Ogoni activist Ken Sara-Wiwi in contempt of international opinion.

  • Cincinnatus

Lai o, you sabi work. No be so you go talk am. It looks like you people have no head or tail.

But seriously, These guys have to try and fix things as they go along. The country and it’s constitution is in that much of a mess, i know. Not sure how much time we have left sha. There are other foreign and domestic factors in collusion gearing up against us and we are still here telling stories.

Act against these criminals quickly; recklessly if you have to. Time is of more value.

  • Abo Eti bi aja

You folks should stop over-thinking things.
It is the nature of the nature of the beast that in certain circumstances, certain things CAN NOT be made public.

W are talking about the recovery of funds looted from Nigeria where the Looters are yet to be convicted.

Releasing info at this stage does nothing but counter balance your recovery efforts.

Put your mouths in the position of “sum” and rest assured , Buhari has you covered!
To put things in terms most identify with, there is No cause for alarm!

Try not to be the freaking tortoise locked in a toilet for 7 years!

When time was ripe for his release, he starts yelling at people to hurry up!.

  • C3kwe

Since when has Buhari put priority to legal consideration? He never did in his first regime nor is he listening to court orders. The truth is that there is nothing to declare. He prefers propaganda, speculation and trial on the pages of newspapers.

      @c3kwe:disqus

      • Senator D

Thirty Three years after he left power he never improved on his qualification academically or socially. That was why PDP got the guts to ask him how he got admitted into the military the first place… Now he globe trotting about as if he a network marketing agent for Forever Living Products… He will go abroad to break nesw for us and come back to Nigeria and keep silent as herdsmen kill Nigerians. Can you imagine Col Usman claiming the herdsmen are foreigners? Does that sound becoming of a military officer? It means failure to protect our borders incase he doesn’t know the implications of his statements. It means people from Benin Republic or Ghana can come kill Nigerians at will here and go freely…

      • Chris Osborne

Because he is from academically disadvantaged zone he was allowed to be enrolled into the military just for federal character representation. Because he was from the same zone he was mad a minister of petroleum. In 1983 he took power by force knowing he will not be giving a chance on a normal electoral platform. In 1999 he came again after he was chased out in 1984 and arrested by Dasuki now corrupt. He came back 2003 and was rejected by educated Nigerians. 2007, 2011 he did same and was still rejected. 2015 he came back and was granted another chance by the virtue of treat to lives and properties but most importantly with the help of the Haters with the reason that the Academically disadvantaged should be recorgainsed as enshrined in the constitution “Fraud” ………………….

From the above you will know that only very few from the North who gained thorough education can do this job and you and I know they will not be allowed by the northern Fulanis. who grew up in the bush educate in the bush practice in the bush ….. how can they match with people who build house for homes, build ranches for rearing of animals roads for transports… NoNoNO We Nigerians know the fact that Nigeria is taken aback 2000 years for allowing this man to be there.

  • JomiJoke

Corruption is fighting back and Mr. President, you’re the first casualty. Don’t promise what you cannot deliver. List without names won’t cut it. Name ’em and we’ll shame ’em. Naming and shaming is better than capital punishment!

He is always making promises and failing to live up to his words! I wonder why that is…

Shut up if you do not know what to say!!!!!!!!!

  • Colonel M. M.

This Lai guy does not make any sense to me. I don’t know about you guys, whenever the man speaks for the administration he sounds very kindergarten.

    • excel

You must be a joker, The HMIC is doing a great job only if you want to deceive yourself.

      • Lt, Col. Mariam

No, I am not a joker at all. Actually I am dead serious here. How can I deceive myself? Are you trying to be funny with that comment or what? Try saying something intelligent for once in your life.

      • Chris Osborne

why would he not be a joker while a jerk like you would sheepishly follow orders….

Fellow Nigerians!!! Let us borrow a page from USA, when former President Busch left the office, a gallon of gasoline was sold for $4 and in some states it went up to about $5 or more. The unemployment was also very high and the stock market was nothing to write home about as your 401k retirement plan balances went south and your properties are undervalued. (these was a worldwide phenomena if you remember). Not only that, the entire world was waiting on newly elected President. Obama to find and kill Osama Ben Ladin. (sp) The Obama administration brought together teams of able Americans to tackle each and every problem facing the nation and the world at large. It took them sometime, and he was called all kinds of names, but today the American economy is so robust and the envy of the world. Osama Ben Ladin was caught and killed, unemployment rate is down, you can get a gallon of gasoline for a about $1.50 in some states with a nationwide average of $2.00 per gallon, the stock market has rallied and housing market is doing very well again.
Based on the displayed creditability by PMB, the entire world is ready to support his administration to tackle each and everyone of the problems outlined above. It would take some patience and some painful decision to get us to promise land.
You and I have to be ready to make more sacrifices for our beloved country. You do your part and I’ll do mine!!! It will require all the moving parts to actually move something.

    • Chris Osborne

I hate Nigeria because of people like you. Stand up for once and face the truth. many leaders in the world has resigned their offices because of none performance for just a period of six months and here we are asking for patience and sacrifices to make it worse. Wake up its time the house should probe his capabilities of square up for his impeachment over his incompetency.

      • Odus

Go ahead and HATE all you want. It doesn’t change anything but makes you bitter.
Be a part of the CHANGE and make a better life for yourself and people around you. There can be no progress where there’s HATE.
Think of what you can do for your country and not what she can do for you!!!

        • Chris Osborne

Many Nigerians are bitter and that is why you can see Nigeria as a state is suffering. We are only but living in self denials even you because we are sentimental we can not say the truth.

  • excel

What is paramount here is the recovered loots which runs to almost 90billions of Naira anybody crying over the list of the looters are unserious fellow.

    • Chris Osborne

How much were you paid. in my place people bears a name Ekwueme …. meaning “Doing as said” or “talk and do” which buhari is not

IMO, President Buhari says certain things that are not quite Presidential, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he is a good man. He made that promise in faraway London and to the hearing of the entire World. Why didn’t he just promise to release details without attaching a timeline or date? His flippancy is constantly putting the Information Minister and Presidential Spokesmen in tight corners. Today again, he has praised Jonathan for his patriotism just because he conceded election defeat to him……but relegated the economic destruction and looting perpetrated by the administration of the former President to the background. With the facts available to Nigerians, I don’t know how anyone can defend the reckless utterance that Jonathan is “patriotic”. I’m no longer comfortable with the way President Buhari talks and his handlers have a big job in hand.

    • ayobamiba

Jonathan is the most patriotic and best President of Nigeria ever .u may hate him as you like, lie against him as you like, peddle falsehood against him as you like .the truth remained that he is unmatched, incomparable to this calamitous ineptitude we have presently. all the one sided malicious vengeance propaganda, sponsored blackmail, hate bigotry , nothing have been established against Jonathan nor any court of competent jurisdictions ever found him culpable. His haters and their hired crucify him mob are the accusers, the prosecutors ,the courts and the judges. His sincere stewardship to Nigeria is unparalleled in the history of this nation. His giant footprints in all sectors, name them, economy, sports, agriculture, democracy, rule of law, justice, equity fairness, aviation, railway, roads, power, energy, banking ,stock market, energy and gas ,education ,security is unparalleled .no amount of propaganda will erase the memory of Benin ore road, oshodi appapa, almajiri schools, 22 power stations, giant strides in agriculture and food security. Jonathan may God continue to bless you and your generation .

    • Olayinka Osibodu

Patriotic for not plunging Nigeria into a senseless war like Gbagbo did in ivory coast and most unpatriotic for looting and allowing further looting of d resources of Nigeria while busy drinking ogogoro

  • McAlfred Uta

This means that the liar in chief Liar Mohammed will not release the list this week as directed by PMB. It is now obvious that no moneys were recovered fueling the need to continue borrowing left right and centre and increase cost of government services (petrol, electricity etc) in order to generate more money. What happened to the N3 trillion in TSA and $2 billion recovered loot? More than one year after taking over the lies and propaganda of APC continues relentlessly.

  • Aragon

Legal reasons indeed. A man who has shown utter disregard for rule of law is now suddenly hiding under the same rule of law to renege on his promise. Goat.

  • Chris Osborne

May 29th will vindicate my statements here time over time. Even though I thought APC will do better than PDP but never knew how wrong I were then until I saw Buharis’ List of cabinets and major federal Office holders.

There were no recovered funds that is worth the news propagandized over the media by Lai Mohamed. The FG said they will by December last year and they did not, they said January this year and they did not and later by may 29th and a gain they did not. What this simply meant for most of us is that all that this regime has been telling starting form its inception till now are all lies.

Buhari said Abacha did not loot and now we have the USA agreeing to release $480m to Nigeria with conditions attached…. So it informs us that its either Abacha was not able to hide his loots very well or that Buhari aided the looting as well because he was part and parcel of the Abacha administration. One day We will see his own loots…
