No community under Boko Haram control in Nigeria – NEMA

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Sani Sidi, on Friday said there was no remaining community in the North East under the control of Boko Haram insurgents.

He made this statement at an award ceremony organized by Northern Youth Council in Kaduna.

“There is no community that has not been liberated from Boko Haram now.

“We should thank our soldiers and the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to making sure this has come to pass,” the D-G said.

Mr. Sidi also said President Muhammadu Buhari had reduced the work of the emergency agency from dealing with emergency situations to rehabilitation of victims of all kinds of emergency.

The NEMA boss said there were no victims of disaster brought to the IDPs camps anywhere in the country now.

“We are soon getting over with the emergency issues; we are heading towards rehabilitation of IDPs instead.

“The government is working with various international agencies to make sure those at the IDPs camps are fully rehabilitated,” Mr. Sidi said.

The youth council honoured Mr. Sidi with the award of Ambassador of Hope at an event held at the Kunfukun Hotel Kaduna.

Mr. Sidi however dedicated the award to staff of NEMA and displaced persons.

In his speech, the president of the group, Isah Abubakar, hailed the NEMA boss for his achievements at the emergency agency.

“Your commitment to making sure you give the best to the people especially those at the IDPs can never be over emphasised.

“Before now, NEMA was just an agency but you made it a working one during your tenure,” Mr. Isah said.

The event was attended by representatives of youth from all the Northern states.

Right on bro. With Imam Mohamed as our leader things are getting better. Prosperity is around the corner.

while i am a firm supporter of this regime i dont believe this news. I will only believe if i hear it from international relief agencies. NEMA is a government agency so they must sing praises of the government of the day lest they be jobless

    • staaaaaaaaaaa

i hear it on bbc already

      • Paul Young

        ok good news then

    • share Idea

Is it not mischief of the highest order that a president that accused his predecessor of not buying any arms for the military for BH and acknowledged that he has not bought any weapon to claim victory against BH. Does it mean that his Body language is working wonders as it did refineries and electricity the first few months of being sworn in. Nigeria we hail thee

      • Paul Young

Why do we nigerians always take politics personally? politicians are known for exaggerating their opponents weak points in other to score political points. In america all the republican candidates especially donald trump call obama a ‘failure’and that america isnt great now cos obama is president. is any of that true???

  • shola

Mission accomplished! What a PHD doktor doktor jonathan could not manage in SIX good years was accomplished within MONTHS from the pdp insinuated “brain dead” president of the federal republic of Nigeria. Salute, my commander in chief. The Germans would say: “gelernt ist gelernt.” Meaning, you are an expert in your field. Yes, Mr. president Buhari, YOU CAN!!!

  • Fairgame

Tribune is reporting breaking news that Boko Haram attacked a village Friday Night and massacred people and burnt down houses. The greatest danger Nigeria is in right now is the pushing of lies and the grand conspiracy of cover ups by the formidable media machinery of the ruling party in hope that if they tell the lies long enough the ignorant and gullible will start to believe.

  • Otile

Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Sidi is a seasoned propagandist. See how he has smoothly calmed frayed nerves saying that Boko Haram menace is no more, that in fact it never existed in the first place, only that people were uncomfortable with the Jonathan administration. According to him, under the leadership of Imam Buhari NEMA has no more hard work to do, Imam has found a way to lift their burden whereby people in IDPs can now go home happily and sleep sound. God help us.

  • edogara

Boko Haram is defeated because Buhari and northern leaders arranged a secret amnesty for them. Paid them money to return to normal civilian lives. Did they ever show any photo or video from the war front where they were fighting Boko Haram? No. They paid them to withdraw. Moreover, Boko Haram are Sunni muslims like Buhari. Sunni cannot fight Sunni. This takes us back to the original accusation that Buhari was one of those behind Boko Haram to destabilize Jonathan’s government. Now that northerners have regained power Boko Haram mysteriously disappears without a single gun shot. How come no sign of Shekau or the Chibok girls? So all that carnage and atrocities and loss of lives were for the purpose of re-gaining political power. Who do they think they are deceiving.

    • If boko haram had any territory in Nigeria under their control by now, the argument would be that Buhari is incompetent as was the case in the first few months of his administration.
Now, boko haram has no single territory in Nigeria under their control and the argument is that they’ve been paid to drop their arms (this at least shows it’s accepted that boko haram has no territory in our nation).
It’s looking like some people just can’t accept that good things happen because some other good people worked hard at achieving it.
Strange how some persons think. Cynicism should at least be done objectively.

      • Reason-ability

God bless you. Amen. I did not know that evil has taken this deep a root in Nigeria, that people will actually spite their noses to cut their faces. It is as if these people do not even want Nigeria to survive and succeed. What would they gain if we all become so wretched and pauperised? Do these people actually think at all? I find that I cannot defend even my Father if he stole money not to imagine stealing money meant for arms. The statements of these people have gone past cynicism. I pray that God protects PMB, there is just too much hate for this man as is the lot of all redeemers.

      • Julius

They cant because it doesnt fit their narratives . What else would they be complaining about if they admit the good things happening ?. Nothing. This is their lives.

    • musa aliyu

      Hear this moron

  • i dey hear

Boko Haram invades on Christmas Day!!

    At least 11 (eleven)
people were killed and dozens injured yesterday when insurgents
belonging to Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, invaded Kimba, a
    pastoral community in Borno State.

Two members of a local vigilante group in the besieged community told
SaharaReporters that the Islamist fighters rode into the town on
bicycles since Kimba, which is in Biu local government area, is remote.

He said the attackers sneaked into the town at dusk, and began their
killing spree. He disclosed that the insurgents also burnt most of the
    homes in the town.

    • Otile

Tactics comrade tactics, actually what happened is that Boko Haram assembled to invade Kimba but when they remembered the power of our leader Imam Buhari they withdrew, no shot was fired, nobody was hurt. Imam deserves the glory, comrade.

      • i dey laugh

“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won. I can confidently say this because
just recently, I led a group of 33 journalists from both the local and international media to the hotbed
of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama. Today, I can report to you that the
entire 70 plus kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to
Cameroun and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops. They have so
degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that the terrorists can no longer hold on to any territory
just as they can no longer carry out any spectacular attack.”

        ………….(General) Lai Muhammed of APC

        [December 23, 2015]

        • Otile

Well, this is Liar Muhammed lying in his own words.

          • musa aliyu

Just the way Otile is hired to cry over his lord’s failure in the 2015 polls

      • Reason-ability

What did PMB do to you personally? This hatred goes beyond GEJ losing the election. If it is because of GEJ’s loss then this must be a psychological problem, because every one needs to move on away from a situation. It has become an obsessive compulsion disorder with you and this is worrisome. I pray the Lord should deliver you from this affliction IJN. Amen

        • Otile

Don’t ask me what Imam did to me personally. Be told that Imam Mohamed hates my people. He discriminates against my people in important Federal positions. He oppresses my people badly. On assuming power he borrowed $2.1 billion with interest from the Wold Bank to help his people. He did not give us any part of that money, but yet oil money from my place is going pay back that money. Is this fair? Recently Imam Buhari carried out massacres against my people. Dd you ever condemn him for that? People do not like their oppressors. You hear?

          • Reason-ability

You truly are a clown. A real life clown. Why are you acting like some beggar? Just in 8 months he has done all these things to your people? Poor you. You really want to reap where you did not sow. Yorubas were discriminated against byt GEJ yet I did not hear them wailing about discrimination. Get a life please and stop defending your very industriuos people, who are marginalising the whole of Nigeria with their comments and actions. Get a life and find something else to occupy your emptiness. This is an advice please and not an abuse.

          • musa aliyu

“My people, my people “. Lame duck liar. Mtchewww

        • Julius

Join me in praying for the loser. His problem is either the Yorubas or the Fulanis. He just cant escape his inferiority complex. The moron has no life . I hope he has family to look after him. He is a loser.

  • Chuks

The mission of the past government was to bankrupt Nigeria. An incompetent leadership looked the other way and fed fat on the security budget meant for the safety of our field soldiers and innocent citizens. The same arrogance and impunity that made PDP lose miserably in the last election will make them go into extinction before the next election. A bunch of disgraceful wolfs called PDP that feasted on our commonwealth have no moral ground to come near Buhari with their stink. Soon they will realise that it pays to have integrity! Olisah ‘con man’ Metuh, Nduka ‘one chance’ Obaigbena, Tony ‘anini’ Anenih, Jim ‘prison’ Nwobodo, Iyorchia ‘gentle looter’ Ayu, Doyin ‘bastard’ Okupe, Bode ‘kirikiri’ George, Peter ‘injunction’ Odili, David ‘left over’ Mark, Ayo ‘psychiatric’ Fayose, Femi ‘dancer’ Fani-Kayode, Femi ‘hate monger’ Aribisala, Reuben ‘join them’ Abati, Ike ‘nonentity’ Ekweremadu, Edwin ‘my share’ Clark, etc. did no job for Nigeria but got paid by a possibly drunk president outrageous amounts no civil servant can earn in his career life. They are the worst group of Nigerians to belong to a decent political party.

    • Very Proud Oily IZON Redeemer

Ibo man wahala See why it would be very hard for the South south to trust the average Ibo man? Show us the arms that Buhari bought to fight the boko haram war-?———The number of bullets fired by our soldiers——I mean-as the commander of the boko haram Fulani soldiers—–Buhari and the sultan of sokoto has the right–to consult ISIS—-enable them call their boys to order–Meanwhile the Chibok girls which APC used in deceiving Nigerians are still no where to be found——-Happy that u are an Ibo man who is now busy insulting Jonathan——I wish u the Ibos the best-in their striggle for Biafra with the Fulanis ati Yorubas-

      • Otile

Deri, the tragic thing about you is that you are a traitor among other things. You know very well that the idiot_is Odua faking Igbo name. Each time you get drunk and want to insult Igbo people you hide under one Odua or the other as if we don’t see through your treachery. Drop dead traitor.

  • Domingos

Some people ask the questions below as a result of Buhari’s past utterances and tacit support for Boko haram:
    1. What is the difference between Buhari and Boko Haram?
    2. Is Buhari not the sponsor of Boko haram?
    3. Why did Boko haram refuse to strike during the elections? Where they told to cease fire?
    4. Why were there always military men giving information to Boko haram members of Nigerian army’s logistics/
    5. Why have all those 3rd columnists or 5th columnists stopped aiding the Islamist terrorists?

I need anwers. Let me hear from you.

These Moaning mourners in APC, should stop this rubbish! If the war in the North East, has officially ended, then the President and Commander in Chief of the armed forces, should announce the end of hostilities with the Fulani fighters killing Nigerians in Boko haram. Not for every Tom, Dick and Harry to go on air to tell us the war is over—-This is an insult to Nigerians—The boko haram war took the lives of over 30,000 NIGERIANS—These people are not goats—–but humans——Buhari should lift his lazy body from his hide out in aso rock and address the Nation–now!

Boko-haram has killed more than 15 Nigerians in the past 24hours and completely burnt a village down. Let’s stop this cosmetic approach to issues which border on Security of lives and property.

    • Julius

It is not cosmetic Tawanda. 6 brave Americans just lost their lives by the terrorists in a control area of Iraq. This is the way it is. They are not the conventional army that you can defeat in the battle filed . The government had done well. Better than under Jonathan if I may add. Lets thank the soldiers for their service. Those territories were control by the BK under Jonathan while the money for the weapons were been shared by him and his NSA. Be fair bro, we are moving forward for the better.

    • musa aliyu

But are you not part of them? Where you not celebrating their massacre when your lord, Jonadumb was in power?

  • Bombing and terrorism will never stop…that is the new reality of our lives…people are laying down their lives daily and u call that cosmetic?….from 17 LGAS called CALIPHATE under GEJ we now have terrorist bombers without admin control of any LGA and u call that cosmetic?…u forgot however to tell us when it will be non-cosmetic!

  • MushinSpeaks

This speaks to the success the Buhari government is recording against insurgency… Let the wailing wailers keep wailing…APC will not only win the war against insurgents but also deliver on its CHANGE promises.

  • cajaegbu

The Government Spokesman, Lai Muhammed, said only two Local Government Areas in Borno State are still under the control of Boko Haram; and here is the NEMA DG saying that all our communities have been freed from the sect!
    Whom should we believe?
