We have defeated Boko Haram, December deadline met, Nigeria says

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

The minister said this during his maiden meeting with editorial heads of media houses in Lagos.

President Mohammadu Buhari had, upon assuming office, issued a December 31 deadline to the military to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won.

“I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a group of 33 journalists from both the local and international media to the hotbed of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama.

“Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to Cameroun and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.”

He said the military presence could be felt ”every few metres along the road; at a point along that road we were just a kilometre to Sambisa forest.

“They have so degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that the terrorists can no longer hold on to any territory just as they can no longer carry out any spectacular attack.”

Mr. Mohammed, however, said that although there were still cases of suicide bombings, it was pertinent to note that such was the nature of insurgency globally.

“Unlike a war between two armies, an insurgency never ends with arms victory

“Even in countries like Colombia where insurgency was supposed to have ended decades ago, attacks like this still happen.”

He said that the insurgents had adopted a new style of attacking soft targets like motor parks, schools, entertainment centres, religious centres, killing innocent people mostly women and children.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the military in the fight against terrorism in the country, saying that the military had availed itself creditably.

“It is our turn as civilians to give them our support; to realise that the war they are fighting is not their war alone, but our war, hence we must own the war.”

The minister disclosed that a national security campaign had commenced to raise awareness among Nigerians about the war, the sacrifices of our troops, and how to stamp out the remnant of the war.

“Jingles are being played on national radio and television as part of the campaign in order to keep the media better informed about the war, so that they can also better inform Nigerians,’’ he said.

Mr. Mohammed also said that an ad-hoc committee, comprising media representatives as well as intelligence agencies, would be inaugurated to regularly be updated about the war in order to better inform the public.

DEAR GENERAL LAI MUHAMMED OF APC ARMY,

I want to congratulate you and your troops for finally defeating Boko Haram. Congratulations!
You should now bring back our troops if you cannot bring back our girls. That is the next step.
When a war has been won you withdraw the troops to the barracks. You too should know that.
Or are you not the limping man who is so forward to announce the defeat of the Boko Haram?
In your self-given right as a military commander you should have announced troops’ withdrawal.
Nowhere in modern history are combat troops left stranded on the BATTLE FIELD after a victory.
Do bring back our troops tomorrow morning and do declare Tuesday a public holiday to mark it.

    _PREDICTIONS _FOR_2016
    =======================

    1.WORKERS STRIKE
There will be so much industrial unrest, especially in the first quarter of the year.

    2. SUBSIDY
There will be removal of fuel subsidy and petrol (PMS) will sell over and above N100/litre, leaving the masses in more serious hardship. Product will not be available and long queue in petrol stations will persist throughout the first quarter of 2016 and beyond.

Power generation will drop to the lowest ebb. Still, Federal Government will increase tariff in 2016.

    4. UNEMPLOYMENT
Millions of jobs will be lost in 2016 as against the three million jobs promised by the APC yearly. Most States and Federal Government will retrench workers as evident in the over 2,000 Federal University workers already sacked.

    5. ECONOMIC POLICY
Most private owned middle-class businesses will fold up because of bad economic policies of the Buhari-led government.

    6. DEVALUATION
The Naira will continue to have a free fall which will take it to as low as N320 to one Dollar.

    7. ECONOMY
The Buhari-led FG will have no solution to country’s economic problems.

    8. SECURITY
Boko Haram will keep spreading and the Shiite Muslims will get more emboldened.

    9. HUMAN RIGHTS
Penchant for dictatorship will rise with rampant human rights abuses and disobedience to court orders.

    10. ANTI-CORRUPTION
Insincerity in the fight against corruption will continue and the fight will not only be selective and political, but targeted more at Southerners.

    11. ELECTIONS
Attempt to forcefully control any of the South South States of Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa by the APC will lead to unprecedented deaths.

    12. ECONOMY
Crude oil price will fall to below and about $30 per barrel.

I think President Barack Obama has a lot to learn from Muhammadu Buhari
who has today conquered Boko Haram – despite not having captured any
of the top 200 commanders of that militia. This is real magic defeat –
no body bags, no capture of the enemies, no surrender ceremony,
just announce victory through the puff-puff mouth of Lai Muhammed,
and pronto, Boko Haram is dead forever, even if the Chief of Army
dare not say that. What a country, what a people wedged to idiocy!

Boko Haram: Jonathan’s Govt Bought Arms: But With Raw Cash –Buhari. Yet Buhari does not know there is an arms embargo against Nigeria abi?

President Muhammadu Buhari, have confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration actually bought arms for the war on terror against the allegations that it was squandered, but it was done on cash basis. Buhari claimed that Jonathan’s government procure arms to fight Boko Haram by simply stuffing dollars in suitcases.

Mr President disclosed that his administration was taking urgent and appropriate actions to restore order, due process and probity to the procurement processes of the Armed Forces.
He made the disclosure at a meeting with the British Secretary of State for Defence, Mr. Michael Fallon, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President regretted that procurement of equipment for Nigeria’s Armed Forces, which followed due process in the past, became open to corruption and shady deals under the last administration.

“They just put foreign exchange in a briefcase and traveled to procure equipment for the military. That is why we have found ourselves in the crisis we are now facing,” he said.
Welcoming the offer by the British Government to assist Nigeria in defence procurement, intelligence gathering and training, Buhari restated his conviction that the inter- national community must collaborate more and work with greater unity of purpose to overcome global terrorism.

“Terrorism has become very sophisticated now. If developed nations can be at- tacked, and hundreds of lives lost, how much more developing countries?

      • Burbank

And GEJ failed to tackle the BH militants for 6 years!

Buhari has not captured the leader of Boko Haram, or anybody, yet he declares victory. If indeed Boko Haram does stop attacking us, then somebody had the power to tell them to lay low, or stop for a little, consequently, also had the power to tell them to start in the first place.

OUR JOURNALISTS ARE NOT DIGGING DEEP ENOUGH. THERE’S A CRISIS DEVELOPING.
LIES-TELLING BY LAI MUHAMMED AT OVER 60 YEARS IS NEITHER NATURAL NOR NORMAL.
THE 1999 CONSTITUTION FORBIDS THAT SICK PEOPLE BE APPOINTED IN PUBLIC OFFICE.
A PSYCHIATRIST WILL TELL YOU THERE’S EITHER PSYCHOSIS OR NEUROSIS OCCURRING.

  • Enemona

Well, this is not true, I think it’s just propaganda. The war with BH continues. Though they have been degraded, they still operate very strong sleeper cells. The remaining work should be more of intelligence gathering.

    • Otile

In other words you are saying that the war has entered a low level phase where people will still be beheaded but not many. You are right, the lesser the beheading the better.

Muhammadu Buhari’s headship of Nigeria is a
classic case of the blind leading the blind. Neither he nor they know better.
Once Buhari chose treasury thieves as Ministers, out of 100 million other competent
and better-educated Nigerians, the coin dropped, since birds of a feather flock
together. Buhari attempts the impossible. He wants the illiterate masses to
call him honest whilst he flocks with thieves. But that witty old wit holds true.
Show me your friends and I will tell who you are. Buhari either does not know
that olden truth or takes the illiteracy and ignorance for granted. He won’t get
away with it beginning January. Nigerians are already seeing through and what
they see is incompetence and dubiousness rolled into one. Buhari and the masses
he takes for granted may soon getting into a pitched battle anytime in the year 2016.
Insulting statements like this one Lai Muhammed makes that Boko Haram is what
will still come back to haunt a wobbly government and stoke the clashes to come.

    • Julius

Thank you. The war against terrorism continues every where. You cant defeat them in totality. The U S has found that out as well and they came out to let us know. Now, we are being told if we see something, we should say something, which I agree with 100%. This is inside the Country, not in some forrest or bush.

  • yukkmouff

Buffoonery doesn’t even begin to describe your words and action mr propaganda!

  • Romberg

What a perfect match between a name and a person. Mr Lie, you got to the gate of Sambisa forest and turned back, because Nigeria has decimated the lords of Sambisa, abi no be so? If anything happens again, I hope you won’t turn back and say it’s PDP’s fault. Finish Sambisa war and head to the second Biafra war. It’s such a long day ahead. Good luck.

I propose that BUHARI be decorated as Field Marshal for totally defeating Boko Haram
in a way that there is no single Boko Haram militiaman left standing again inside Nigeria.
All hail the chief – Sai Baba – Up APC!!!

  • Omotolaaraujo

We ask Almighty God to keep Nigeria safe and to deliver His sweet mercy to the sick, poor, and displaced.

    • VeeCross

  • kayode Olufade

That boko Haram cannot claim any territory on Nigerian soil is good news but we shouldn’t be too hasty in dislodging the region of troops as this will just invite them back. Now we get ready for the deadliest phase of the war against terror. From now on will be the intelligence war in which we are deficit in. We need to be vigilant as the terrorists now live among us and will want to perpetrate their evil when we least expect it

    • Peter Onuorah

      GOD bless u

    • Burning spear

If the boko haram war has really ended as being claimed by the moaning mourners of the visionless government of Buhari, is it the Minister of Misinformation–Liar Mohamed whom every Nigerian knows is a pathological story teller? That should tell us more Fabus about the war-which Buhari created because of his luist for power?—The coming to an end of the war that killed over 30,000 Nigerians cannot be announced by Liar Mohamed—It should come to Nigerians through a live broadcast from rthe lying lips of Buhari—ati the Apes in APC Certainly not Liar Mohamed–

  • kayode Olufade

    Also, God bless us all

  • Man_Enough

There is no need for this announcement.chibok girls are the real evidence of fait acompli.

    • Oh!

Sir, we thank you for that comment!
It seems our people here can not think their ways out of tribal bigotry (almost every single one of them).

Morons keep throwing ‘red herrings’ant them and they keep gobbling it up. .
We have been waiting for someone to with a mind strong enough to fathom that which is no longer in vogue (Chibok Girls). No one did,!

In our bid to soothe their retarded minds, we offered the fact that no Government can say Boko Haram is done! When our people can go to thew market, chrch, mosque, shopping centers and all the other things we do, they will inform the Government that Boko Haram is over,

  • Peter Onuorah

Even America never said they have defeated terrorism since 9-11 attack.SO DON’T BE QUICK jubilat Mr man.talk less beside i think is the military who are in a better position to announce such good news.but i pray is true.lets us all support our government no matter the president on seat.

    • Julius

Thank you. The American are still in afghanistan all these years.

  • MushinSpeaks

The Nigerian government is giving its best to end insurgency. Towns and civilians have been liberated and we seeing results. Change is here

We dont even know how many we are in Nigeria. We dont have no criminal data base The boarders are so porous. The terrorists capture we dont know who they are. Nigeria looks like a jungle We can start to rectify this by making use of some of the information collected through the PVC cards, the bank BVN cards,Student ID numbers, registration of children at the day care centers up to the university level . Compulsory registration of birth in hospitals and local government councils. All elderly should register at their local government offices. This special number will be required for anybody to function in Nigeria. This will allow us to fish out criminals any where they may be. Those state governors must play a major roll in this exercise. .The fed must tie the state allocation they collect to this exercise. This ID NO may require a passport photograph depending on what service you are requesting I think we should look into this. We can not just be groping in the dark.

Good job President Muhammadu Buhari for your decisive actions, good job Nigerian Army for being so gallant (I always have confidence in you), good job Nigerians for your tireless prayers; unity and resilience. May God bless you all together.
