The committee is co-chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, who represents the outgoing government, and former Bayelsa state Governor, Timipre Sylva, who leads the delegation of the incoming government.

The terms of reference for the Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee include drawing up the programme of activities for the inauguration ceremony; arranging invitation and accommodation of local and foreign dignitaries; drawing up budget for the programme of activities; organising the approved programme of activities; and co-opting into subcommittees persons that may be necessary to assist the committees.

Members of the Anyim led committee include; Chief of Defence, Air Chief Marshall, Alex Badeh; Ministers of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, Aviation, Osita Chidoka, Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Edem Duke, Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Akon Eyakenyi, Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, Interior, Abba Moro, office of National Security Adviser, Bello Fadile, IGP Solomon Aresa, Minister of State Defence, Austin Akobundu, Commander Brigades of Guards, A. B. Omozoje, and Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, Permanent Secretary, Presidency (Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation).

Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa, Mr. Anyim said the committee has planned a one-week programme of activity.

They include press briefing, Jumat prayers, inter-denominational church service, inauguration dinner, swearing-in ceremony, and a gala night.

“We have accordingly created sub-committees to focus on each activity,” he added. “The co-chairmen and members of the sub-committees may now or later take their turns in briefing the public on their activities.”

Please what are the likes of Temepreye sylva and Babagana Kingibe still doing here?? I tot Sylva still has an EFCC case to answer to? I will advise this in coming government to beware of shady charters who have made a career out of hanging around any government in power. Nigerians are watching.

IS ALHAJI MUHAMMADU BUHARI AUTHORIZED UNDER SECTION 137 (j)
TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA?
THE OBVIOUS ANSWER IS, “NO!”. THEREFORE IT IS NOW THE DUTY
OF EVERYONE – INCLUDING THE UNIFORMED SERVICES – TO STOP
HIS ILLEGAL TAKE-OVER OF THE GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA.

Is Jonathan’s government celebrating the overthrow of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution,

by smoothing the way for Buhari’s illegal government? It would seem so, because

Jonathan should know better, especially having an attorney-general who in other
countries would to stop Jonathan’s blunder which looks more or less like naked dance
over Section 137 (j) of the 1999 Constitution which is choked and begging for life.

of Nigeria or any part thereof, except in

      • delebright

        @zartoali:disqus:

Can you read and write? If yes, please read this first section of Nigeria’s Constitution; viz:

        • The Federal Republic of Nigeria shall not be
governed, nor shall any person or group of
persons take control of the Government
of Nigeria or any part thereof, except in
accordance with the provisions of this
        Constitution.

        …………….Section 1(2) of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution

It is therefore unconstitutional for anyone in violation of the Constitution to be
sworn in as President of Nigeria without President Jonathan firstly declaring the
1999 Constitution null and void for him to achieve his own vain ambition of being
called a ‘statesman’. That’s because “….a person shall not be qualified for election
to the office of President if he has presented a forged certificate to the Independent

        National Electoral Commission“.

        • Jude

IT IS INFERIORITY COMPLEX THAT MAKES JONATHAN BELIEVE THAT
THOSE FLATTERING HIM AS STATESMAN FOR LOSING ALL THE STATES
IN THE FEDERATION EXCEPT HIS REGION + GOMBE AND EKITI STATES
MEANT WHAT THEY WERE SAYING. THAT IS NOT THE MEANING OF THE
WORD ‘STATESMAN’. THEY WERE MERELY FLATTERING HIM TO GET OUT
AND MAKE THE PAIN OF HIS TOTAL DEFEAT LESS PAINFUL. THAT IS ALL.

      • agaracha

@zartoali:disqus: i don’t see Muhammadu Buhari being sworn in,
despite rumours that he’s struck a criminal agreement with
President Jonathan. The enlightened Nigerians will see to it
that he’s not sworn in or allowed to benefit from his wrong.

  • shams

Kingibe is a very experienced person so Buhari is right to include him. Sylva’s records doesn’t say good about him but he know the govt he is working for. I thought GEJ will include Femi kayode or Okupe

    • i dey hear

I don’t like APC but I respect them. They are master strategists. You can imagine how they want to humiliate Jonathan all round – showing him he is a small boy. Former Bayelsa state Governor, Timipre Sylva chair the incoming government committee??????????? Hmmmm…..another slap on Jona

  • Proud Yoruba

The only good thing about using the former Bayelsa governor is that he’ll not have a place in Buhati’s administration, because they said anyone who is part of the transition team will net be hired in the administration. Also that Dabiri woman seems like she is all emotion and not much sense!

  • Shimei

Dr Bukola Saraki, Chief Timipre Sylva and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe are new converts to a new Nigeria having pulled back from the leprous influence of the PDP. So they are suitably qualified to join the new ‘kids’ on the block.President-Elect had said he will be firm in dealing with corruption and these men will help him in the battle.

  • ikpeba

No matter how much energy puts into this transition of power to Buhari
he will get the same result as an outlaw who broke the law of his country.
If Jonathan is looking for a place in history it is not for destroying his party
    – taking it from a ruling party to near extinction in five years. History abhors
such tragic failure. He should remove the borrowed robes of statesman for
that electoral catastrophe. History cares about success at enduring legacy.
If President Jonathan is to rescue himself from the dustbin of history, the way
to go is to stand for constitutional correctness by giving constitutional effect
to Section 137 (j) of the 1999 Constitution. Otherwise, he’ll soon be written off
as just another criminal accomplice in the toga of president of Nigeria.

    • msvivian

Hahahaha! Jonarthan has no liver; no courage, no principles, no convictions.
He can not give effect to any high principle in life. He only cares about fun and money.
A man like him can hand over power to Abubakar Shekahu if he’s promised free escape.

      • msvivian

THIS JONATHAN CAN HAND OVER POWER TO ABUBAKAR SHEKAU

    Can’t wait for may29

  • Peter

All of you APC fools on this blog are in a for a rough ride with this Buhari government. How on earth do you expect a 73-year old military cupist and who by the barrel of the gun ruled the country some 30 years ago to be still relevant politically. This is democracy and not ‘militocracy’. Mark my word today and quote me: Buhari’s tenure will be the worst. A man who came at the behest of corruption cannot fight corruption.

    • Eniriches

Am sure, you’re writing under the influence of some illicit substances.

    • Tunsj

You sound like a psychopath. How do you know that Buhari’s tenure will be the worst? I’m sure that APC fools are more intelligent than PDP fools like you. You talk a lot without saying anything of significance. The election is over and it is time to return to your cave.

Some pple are dreaming. Don’t worry u will wakeup by may 29 wen buhari is sworn in as the new president. And I bet u, u will come to say pls buhari continue. Had we knw we cld have given u dis country long before. Mark my words. Buhari is selfless

    • burning spear

The Apes in APC are not even aware that Nigerians—do not have anything to admire in buhari–practically -nothing——-From–his enlistment into the army from his home country Senegal-to his certificate forgery case———————-beyond the USA and UK governments imposing him on us—-buhari is too empty to be president-

How can a country blessed with million of proffessors———–have a man who could not even pass his maths as president—-?——-Jonathan it was who paved way for the Fulanis and Yoruba traitors to take over from him–because he is a gentleman—————————–he does not want trouble————–that is why even thought he won the election which was rigged for buhari by the USA—he decided to quit—sadly Nigeria is still going to depend on the resources of the SS————without which there will be no Nigeria———period———

      • Mr Wise

        That one concern you

  • burning spear

U may have witnessed what happened during the Buhari regime and that was why Buhari was removed through the cries of the masses according to IBB. People who had contracts with government and voluntarily executed the contracts were accused of corruption. We know all the black and white of award of contracts in most of the countries in Africa and even overseas. What happened was not the business of Buhari to send the people to jail. I remember, Mallam Ishaku Rabiu in Kano was jailed too. Well, we wouldn’t call it jail; they were incarcerated unnecessarily without term, indefinitely. Some of them died from the complications, arising from such an action. Some, who had money, just paid to free themselves, not because the law said so, they paid because they didn’t want to remain there. Hypertension, stroke, diabetes, blood pressure, so many things killed most of those who remained there–such as Tai Solarin –Sam Mbakwe——Pa Ajasin————–what about the murder of over 1,000 9jas and 11 youth corpers———————————added to the blood of those he executed————–?————-show your certificate to my children–biko Buhari

  • Gilbert

First things first: First thing you do once you get into office, please Buhari, change the dark, background color in the President’s office to something clean and bright. The present color is uninspiring, just like the outgoing president.
