Buhari in historic election win, emerges Nigeria’s President-elect

President Muhammadu Buhari

After three previous failed shots at the presidency, Muhammadu Buhari is finally moving into Aso Rock, Nigeria’s presidential palace,as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A retired Major-General, Mr. Buhari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled a total of 15,416,221 votes to defeat the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, who got 12,853,162 votes.

The APC candidate got the highest number of votes in 21 states while Mr. Jonathan prevailed in 15 states and Abuja.

Mr. Buhari has also met the constitutional requirement to be declared President-elect by getting more than one quarter of the votes in 27 states.

The APC candidate won in Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara.

Mr. Jonathan on the other hand prevailed in Rivers, Plateau, Taraba, Nasarawa, Imo, Enugu, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Ebonyi, Cross River, Bayelsa, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Abia and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja).

The Independent National Electoral Commission is yet to announce Mr. Buhari’s victory because the commission is still expecting results of the presidential election from Borno.

But we can report that Mr. Buhari got 473,543 votes in Borno compared to the 25,640 earned by Mr. Jonathan.

So, the APC candidate has practically won the election by beating Mr. Jonathan by 2,563,059 votes.

Mr. Buhari’s victory makes it the second time since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democratic rule, that a retired military officer would become Nigeria’s president.

Mr. Buhari, who wields enormous support in Northern Nigeria, won in 21 states to emerge victorious.

The retired army officer’s journey to the presidency began in 2003 when he contested under the platform of the now defunct All Peoples Party, APP.

That year, he got 12.7 million votes to lose to Olusegun Obasanjo, also a retired army officer, who was seeking a second term as president.

Despite picking a southerner, the late Chuba Okadigbo, as a running mate, Mr. Buhari got a huge chunk of his votes from the north.

Four years later, Mr. Buhari, contesting under the ANPP, attempted another shot at the presidency, this time going head to head with a fellow northerner, Umar Yar’adua of the PDP.

Again, he lost.

Despite still picking a southerner as a running mate, his performance in 2007 was far worse than that of 2003 – he polled a meagre 6.6 million votes while the eventual winner got thrice his vote.

By 2011, Mr. Buhari helped found another party, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and, once again, he aimed a shot at becoming president.

Once again, he picked a southerner as running mate.

On April, 16, 2011, he ran against the incumbent, President Jonathan.

He polled 12.2 million votes to lose to Mr. Jonathan who got almost twice his votes.

After the 2011 general elections, three major political parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Mr. Buhari’s CPC – began talks on a merger that would enable it provide a formidable platform to challenge the dominant PDP.

On February 6, 2013, the APC was founded.

“We promise not to disappoint Nigerians who have reposed much confidence in us,” Lai Mohammed, then interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, said at the time.

“We say that contrary to the lies peddled by the naysayers, we are not seeking political power for the sake of getting it, but in order to use it to empower our people and allow their long-nursed hopes and dreams to become a reality.”

At the APC presidential primaries in December 2014, Mr. Buhari contested against political heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar, former vice president; Rabiu Kwankwaso, governor of Kano State; and Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo State.

At the end of the day, the retired general polled 3,430 delegates votes to defeat his challengers.

For his running mate in the run up to the 2015 general election, Mr. Buhari again picked a southwesterner as a running mate.

During his campaign, the 73-year-old traversed the length and breadth of the country canvassing for votes.

The 2015 presidential election was the first time Mr. Buhari won in states outside northern Nigeria, winning all the south-western states except Ekiti State.

To all those who remained resolute in defending the truth and promoting accountability and integrity , I SAY THANK YOU. May God Bless Nigeria!

  • Okey

I join in congratulating Gen. Buhari on his hard won victory. More so, at least, I am certain that as from May 29, a litre of petrol will be selling for N45 as he had told us that the PDP led government is cheating us by charging N87 per a litre. I also congratulate President Jonathan for unprecedented show of statesmanship in verily and earnestly congratulating Gen Buhari.

    • tundemash

Go and lick your wounds quietly and let Buhari run his govt.
Once we recover our stolen $20bn and repair the refineries, by the grace of God, you will buy fuel for N20/litre.

      • Okey

No, he did not make it conditional and I refuse to believe that a lie was told for votes. I am certain that by May 29, a litre of petrol will sell for N45.

        • tundemash

Go and learn the art of being in the opposition as u would do this for some time.
Meanwhile where is our $20bn? How much was your share there ?

        • tundemash

E-rat …. i understand your sadness at the loss of the free amnesty awoof but my advice is you go and mourn quietly and stop being a sore loser.

You can see “na only you waka come” as your fellow e-rats are on their way back to Otuoke for the great re-union. below is your invitation

          • Okey

Tunde Mess, this “card” you rushed out now confirmed you as E-rat specialist, yahoo-yahoo expert.

    • SAM .A

As u congratulate him , kindly reflect on all the trash u wrote about him , ask God to forgive you as you go through this ur mourning period . Do not weep too much , just leak ur wound .

      • Okey

Go through any position I took and tell me a single lie in it. You have a heart full of thorns and wounds and it is obvious it will take time to heal.

        • SAM .A

I have been soaking my beer since, we have won , why u lost, winner rejoice & merry ,while the loser leaks his wound , if you ride a Royce Roll in my stomach, it will go smoothly.
The success of GMB have confirmed all the trash you wrote here are bundles of fabrication & lies.
Please don’t push your luck , President Jonathan has accepted defeat and said you are on your own.

I am proud to be a Nigerian and wish the President-Elect God’s guidance and wisdom in the task of rebuilding Nigeria. I hope the so-called CAN President will bury his head in shame and sincerely seek for God’s mercies in being part of the cabal that steered this nation into a sorry state.

  • Parasitic foolani

Lets see how Buhari will rule this country peacefully. GEJ was tormented right from day one of his administration to the end. And the hausa Fulanis think they could make the country ungovernable for GEJ and go scot-free? Orubebe’s incidence is just a tip of the iceberg, Boko Haram will surely be a child’s play compared to what buhari will face..that is if he is even sworn in successfully. Nigerians should be on the look out!

This is a big lesson to Nigerian useless politician that they must shape up or be voted out of power by THE PEOPLE. GMB TOLD US ‘I DON’T HAVE MONEY BUT WILL GIVE THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE GOOD GOVERERNANCE’. I, A SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN VOTED FOR A MUSLIM CANDITATE BECAUSE HE HELD FOUR IMPORTANT POSTS AND NEVER STOLE OUR MONEY BUT THE SOUTHERN OUTGOING PRESIDENT CONSIDERED HIMSELF A NIGER DELTA PRESIDENT INSTEAD OF BEING A NIGERIAN PRESIDENT AND ONE OF HIS MANY SINS WAS THAT HE TOLD NIGERIANS THAT THE NAIRA IS A USELESS CURRENCY BY DOLLARIZING THE NIGERIAN CURRENCY.

  • Ukpaka

    Change at last!.
Congratulations to our people for having the courage to effect this needed change at this critical time. I believe the incoming administration will be made up of credible people devoted to uplifting the suffering of our people. I also hope that even those who did not vote for the APC ticket will give this new administration a chance to succeed.
While Buhari and his new cabinet need to concentrate on moving our country forward, I still believe they need to do some cleanup in the armed forces. Most of the military and policemen involved in electoral intimidation need to be dismissed from service. This should serve as a deterrent for others who might want to act in same manner in the future.
I also need to congratulate Tinubu for the part he played to make this change a reality. One take away from this is that sometimes you can use people who are not saints to effect a change. Say what you want about Tinubu, I salute his courage and I admire his political sagacity. You cannot ignore his role in making history today. For whatever offence you think he committed in the past, he has made an atonement and we have to move forward without pointing fingers.
Congrats again, I’m so hopeful for our country.

  • tundemash

    Congrats to :
    Buhari (great warrior),
Tinubu (master strategist & Jagban of the world),

Wahala, you were a great comrade and i feel honoured to have walked that tortuous journey with you in the last 7 (??) years .
Nothing more I wanted than this present feeling that a new Nigeria will emerge from this where my wife and kids can come visiting without dodging all over the place for fear of being robbed or kidnapped.
A Nigeria that I will be proud of among my mates during discussions.
A Nigeria where the politicians will respect the electorate and know that power lies with the people !
A Nigeria where the citizens can once again trust the leadership to do the right things.

        • Screw-em

@ Mash …The CROWN of this victory should be share by both Wahala and your humble self. You guys were just too HOT to handle. The PDP he/she- goats have all been buried for good..we owe both of you a whole load of gratitude. Thanks a million guys!!!

It has been my honour to be listed alongside your names, rather than the list of infamy.

          • otitokoro

I have watched and read Wahala’s comments over the past year and it should be said they are the equivalent of putting fire under the toes of this despicable government. Good riddance to bad rubbish. It is a new era for a country that has been subjected to unimaginable suffering in the midst of plenty. Thanks Wahala and other forumites. This is Omo Honorable LOL!

The real battle has started as we have to put these guys (APC) on their toes at all times. Please for the sake of the masses like me,I appeal to you to form an interactive online monitoring group to guard against any deviation from our hard labour. You can call for an inaugural meeting anywhere in Europe for those who might be interested in joining.we need it to put these guys in check.
        Once again,thank you sir.

        • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

          Many thanks, brothers and Sisters.

The day that the likes of Otile, the false aka the truth, B. Messi, BlackieUmukoro et al fought so hard to stave off and deny is finally here. Please allow me to share a drink with you to celebrate the well earned and deserved victory of APC and GMB.

As we each and all celebrate, please spare a thought and prayers for the victims of overzealous security personnel and fake boko harams deployed against voters and the expression of Nigerian suffrage. Also spare a moment to reflect upon the sacrifices and efforts of Nigerians who stood in the rain and sunshine to vote and protect their votes.

We all strove hard, fought hard and made sacrifices so that we can say we were part of the “obama Moment” in Nigerian history.

On my part, it has been a great pleasure to be listed among you untiring ladies and gentlemen who wanted a better Nigeria against all odds.

Now that we have supplanted the reactionary forces, the hard task of defending this hard won victory has just started.

Guys all, I lift my glass to you. Salute. Well done and thank you very much.

  • Yusuf

Its a moment for Change, Love and Unity…We have all learnt our lessons, lets move for once as one Nation

  • Ike Masha

I like to first thank our brothers and sisters from all over Africa, who have
made Abuja home in recent weeks, for their moral support in ensuring that this
election counted for the electorate in Nigeria.

Next, is the Western world for, behind the seen actions and activities. These two groups, while not casting any votes, saw to it that the will of Nigerians was not high jacked by the criminal elements in the
PDP as had always been the case in the past. They made sure that Prof. Jega and
his INEC acted by the rules and not commit any form of illegalities during this elections.

Lastly, I congratulate my fellow country men and women for making this historical
change possible. When it mattered most, our people rose up to the occasion.

By this singular action, hopefully we have laid to rest the divisive issues of
tribe and religion in our political affairs. Things would not have gotten this
bad if had acted much earlier.

From this day forward, let us make the BEST FOR NIGERIA our watch word.

For the General who never gave up on Nigeria, I salute you.

    • bib

You have said it all. May God give GMB the capacity, strength, exemplary character to reunite the country as it was before. In one1977 I served my youth service in the then Bendel State. I was in the same squad with an Ibo chap. We became friends and visited his village in Anambra State and stayed there for two nights. I pray we shall be able to that of brother and sisterhood.

  • CONGRATULATIONS. Sai Buhari, Fe Buhari, Love Buhari, March 28, Nigerians Voted Buhari, DESTROYER of

  • dada udo

A’las!!! After several fights and quarrels with family and friends over my continued preaching of Buhari’s gospel, God has done His will by making today possible. My grateful heart! Borne out of due analysis and sampling, I as a Southern Christian who voted in a polling unit away from Gov. Akpabio decided to cast my only vote for a Northen Muslim amidst serious threats and intimidations. Now I’m smiling home from work, but my earnest prayers remain that Buhari will shut up the doubting Thomases by outperforming his predecessors and making Nigeria what ‘she’ should be.Change has come finally!!!

  • Rommel

I don’t know what to say,I am one damn happy dude,I’m just too happy, long live Nigeria

    • tundemash

Rommel …. thanks for your doggedness.

  • the truth

This is democracy at work. First of all let us thank GEJ for accepting defeat, but the courts could still be an option due to so many irregularities that affected this election. This is just heartbreaking. Nigeria may have stepped 50 steps back or we may move 2 steps forward, depending on how u see it. APC would take the next 4 years to blame GEJ and PDP for not performing

    • tundemash

      Mr. Career Liar,

A feeling of sinking deeper. This government would blame their lack of performance to PDP for years to come. I want to see heaven in Nigeria as promised by buhari. I also want 1 naira to be 1 dollar, i want to see steady power, i want to see steady electricity. etc

They can’t survive anywhere else outside Nigeria so they would simply go deeper into the creek. No shaking about those ones.

Don’t forget Ngozi Iweala and Stella Oduah, the time for progressive change in Nigeria has began, all corrupt politicians please don’t try to flee the country as a woman we will know. Just turn yourself in or face the holy bulala of the Nigerian people.

          • Mosaku 147

You forgot Reuben Abati, buruji kashamu, jide Omokore and Edwin Clark.

    • Papashango77

It will still be better than GEJ’s govt.

      • the truth

how do u know that. with a criminal like tinubu. I guess he is a saint now cos he is in apc. We are watching and i hope u would be critical of this new government too.

        • Sincerely Yours

Ah! ah! Don’t bust our bubble now. Let us savour the moment.

        • Papashango77

Buhari will be in charge and not like GEJ who is not in charge. Tinibu cannot dictate for Buhari. Buhari is an independent man.

Let me be the first Kenyan to congratulate the good people of Nigeria for a job well done.

Irrespective of which party you belong to, as long as you are a Nigerian, you are a winner today.

Through your vote, you have played a critical role in building the nation. You have helped reinforce the image of Nigeria as the backbone of the African continent as a whole.

Now is the time to forget your political differences and move forward in unity and fraternity toward your ideals and aspirations. The incoming government and its supporters should humble themselves in the face of triumph, knowing full well the enormity of the responsibilities that they must now bear as leaders of this great nation. By the same token, the outgoing government, together with its supporters, should rise to the occasion in the face of defeat, aware that the government does not represent the interests of only a section of society but of the country as a whole.

Finally, this is not only a win for Nigeria but for Africa as a whole. Nigeria has pointed the way, and the rest of Africa is sure to follow.

    Congratulations–and God bless Nigeria!

    • The Truth

Our Kenyan friend thank you for word of encouragement

    • Nigeria Rap Lamar

God bless your Country Kenya, We Africa will all grow together to be a great continent. We are very happy today in Nigeria, not because Buhari won, but because a new change has come, no more apathy. everybody wants change, everybody wants the same thing. Sooner than later, all Nigerians will speak ONE VOICE …..GOD bless Nigeria

DON’T CONTAIN IT MY BROTHER, CONGRATULATIONS LONG LIVE NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS, REMAIN BLESSED.

      • Guguru

        Thank you.

    • Mosaku 147

      Thank Guguru.you have been great.

      • Guguru

        Mosaku,

Thank you so much. God bless you.

  • boliatepa

It is a milestone in Nigeria’s political development. The significance is not really the assumption of Buhari. There is no evidence that APC will do better. The important thing is that today, democracy has come to Nigeria. The evidence of democratic maturity is that political candidates are able to concede defeat and come back stronger in the next election cycle. This is what Nigerians should be celebrating, not Buhari’s victory. The APC and PDP are two sides of a coin. Buhari is a coin toss, much like Jonathan. For his concession, Jonathan has become a historic figure. He is a patriot misled, misguided and reformed.

    • Guguru

Buhari is no criminal. He does not lie in people’s faces. He does not mutter when $20 billion goes missing.

      • boliatepa

No one has called him a criminal, but his history shows corruption and abuse of power too. What about the missing $2.8m? The missing suitcases of the Emir of Daura. The abuse of human rights in 1984-86. The retroactive decrees that got Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor jailed when they were telling the truth. The killing of drug traffickers whose cases did not attract the death penalty at the time they committed the offense? See, let’s leave that for now. That’s not the issue, but Buhari is no saint – are you too young to know? The issue is that Nigeria has moved from a one-party democracy. That is what we want.

        • Guguru

No one is a saint in Nigeria. We are in the present and not in the past. Try making an argument of the present about Buhari and let us see how far you go with that. LOL.

          • tundemash

Why are u still arguing with sore losers ?

          • Guguru

            tunde,

            Nice idea.

          • boliatepa

If you don’t know where you are coming from, you can’t know where you are going. That is why they teach history and have museums. They have value.

          • Guguru

            Boli,

Just deal with the loss. Stop trying to spoil my joyful day. Jonathan was king of corruption. Where is our $20 billion?

        • Sincerely Yours

Who told you suitcases were missing. And talking about Tunde Thompson, the man has moved on and forgiven Buhari. What’s your own. Crying more than the bereaved.

      • Wale

        Congratulations, Guguru.
we try o or what do you think.
we succeeded in trying to correct the wrong, more grease to your elbow brother-man.

        • Guguru

          Wale,

Thank you so much. God bless you.

    • Thepeople

Intelligent Nigerians must agree with you. This is what democracy is all about.

      • osas efoghe

Wow!! How skewd. This is ‘what democracy is all about’ and not about delivering any good..I now see why some like Arewabetter above are proposing the annihilation of PDP as a party..they are practically beyond reform by virtue of this showing

      • tundemash

Only d@ft Nigerians will make a dubious attempt to change history within days !

    • Sincerely Yours

What historic figure. Did he have a choice? What patriot, what transformation? Please spare me

      • boliatepa

He could have chosen to declare the election annulled like Babangida now and you would not be smiling with your large mouth, would you?

        • Sincerely Yours

Who gave him that power. Annulment ko, annulment ni.

        • tundemash

Olodo …. with which law will he annul?

    • tundemash

      Historic ko, dinosaur ni!
If Jega did not insist on not resigning and on usage of PVC and card reader, where will we be by now ?
If Capt. Koli did not expose the Ekiti rigging method, same would have been used at Osun state and now the Presidential election and u think Dumbo wasn’t in the know with his response to the Ekiti tape ?

  • Arewabetter

While I sincerely congratulate GBM’s supporters in this forum, I would like to mention that we still need to do a lot to get rid of the cancer called PDP. The good results achieved by PDP really surprised me. I thought that PDP was no longer a force to reckon with. Apparently, I underestimated the party. Anyway, the South-West did not do a better job for Buhari. It was my believe that the Yorubas will deliver the South-West region to Buhari with a landslide. Tinubu, Fasola and others in that region have a lot of work to do in order to bury PDP. Now the THING called femi fani-kayode should go back to his main area of productivity as depicted below in a cartoon.

    • osas efoghe

Stop being an ingrate…what is important now is GMB won…the southwest voted for him. They gave him all their states but one…I think that is a landslide…what do you really want from them….if you underestimat d the party in power as u claimed..that’s your naivity..not the yorubas’
There is more to be grateful about than fuming..consider how bola tinubu so irresistibly packaged GMB ..that really made a lot going foward for the three times loser.
And what is this thing about annihilating the PDP..have you formed a replacement opposition party..or would u rather make GMB a monarch ? Not in Nigeria…let’s share

  • Screw-em

Mr President Elect Buhari, The road ahead will not be paved in gold. There will be bumps and potholes, even huge craters created by the onerous policies of your predecessor. The troops of well wishers queued up congratulating you today, will turn against you tomorrow if what we all believe will be a positive change, turns into sour grapes. As they say….God forbid!!. You have the pedigree to confront the arduous task ahead with enormous zeal and might. My two cents advice to you is one: Begin by slashing your salary by 75%, then propose a drastic cut of the outlandish salaries and emoluments of the legislators by the same percentile. For laughs, go after 2.3GPA spread -em Eagle Diezani with a vociferous tackle to make her cough out every kobo she hid in her bra and pantyhose while at the helm at NNPC. As for Madam head Scarf, Okonjo, she will soon throw away her Phd from Harvard when the truth about how she bastardized our economy is finally revealed…. .$20billion still missing funds must be tracked down.and our chibok girls must be found and brought back home….to be continued…..CONGRATULATIONS to all the progressive internet WARRIORS on SR and PT…..today is truly a day to REJOICE. The Angels are shedding tears of JOY….God Speed.everyone……..Sai BUHARI!!!!!…….lol

You are the winner in all of these for keeping the APC flame alight in the blogosphere. I still don’t know how you do it. Even a robot would struggle to match your writing prowess and consistency. You need some sleep now. Kudos bruv!!!

      • Omoagunmate

Abeg, full respect and the humour you bring on board brov gave us all hope. Well done bro, and the spirit of the yet unborn generations of our great nation will bless and pray for you for the rest of your life. Men, I will drink one cold Odeku for you no doubt.

It is easier to criticize, now they would wear the shoes, buhari first of all has to pay back all those guys that financed his campaign. I hope nigeria does not have censorship and papers like premium times are now in 5th heaven, there candidate has won

Was that what jonathan did when he won in 2011? who financed GEJ? you must have quite some experience

        • seun

          good,i am a bus driver.

  • Rearction Time

Questions discerning Nigerians MUST now bother about:

    1. Are there poor & uneducated people in the Niger Delta?
    2. Do these poor people have a right to protest their neglect as Boko haram did?
    3. Will they have the capacity to make the country ungovernable for the next 4yrs?
    4. Will the South accept the Northern President, given that they rejected a Southern President?
    5. Will the South allow the central govt access to its resources?
    6. Is this going to be another 4yr insurgency to force whoever is there to submission?

A dangerous precedent is been set. And those who orchestrated it might end up biting their lips forever. Is this the end of Nigeria? Or is it the beginning of the end? When oil ALL oil wells and installations are blown off by those who feel neglected just like Boko haram claimed, will people remember to blame whoever claims to be President of Nigeria?

What goes around comes around. James Baldwin once wrote: The most dangerous creation of mankind is he who has nothing to lose” In contemporary Niger Delta there exist an army of young, fearless, educated but unemployed boys, girls, men & women in the midst of plenty. Is this their turn to react?

    Bye for now!

    • pete

Do you mean they are unemployed. That should be Jonathan’s fault. So, in their unemployment, they kept mute but are only going to react now that there is a turn

    • Zarto Ali

The president himself has answer all yur questions.

    • kola

But they have something to lose. When they had the opportunity to develop their land, they were busy building universities in other peoples land , buying jets and war ships. Go to Ajah and high profile estates in Abuja they ere the arms contractor. i was thinking that GEj would have used the opportunity to open up at least Bayelsa by building an economic free trade zone or small port, but he was busy buying Jets and farms in Abuja.

    • tundemash

      Shut up there ,dindinrin !
Dumbo neglected the generality of the Niger Delta people and made Asari, Tompolo and Edwin Clark billionaires ! Olodo
Bye and crawl back into that smelly hole you came from !

      • Wale

        Congrats, Tunde.
You deserve a pat on the back.
We all played a role, a very good one, Thanks for helping Nigeria get back on track.

Allah Akbah… God is Great, indeed. God Bless Nigeria!
And, Thanks to all online warriors who made this Change possible. RESPECT!!
    Special Dedication: @Ibrahim Sa’ad Nagodi (PBUH), #BringBackOurGirls, #BH-Victims… survivors!!!

    • Alchemy

Yeah!! Free at last from PDP’s shackles and strangulation. It must be said that Jonathan meant well for Nigeria/Nigerians but he became the architect of his own downfall by surrounding himself with the wrong people—those who could barely see beyond their flat noses. However, he has set a precedence other African leaders must aspire to. To me, that singular act has restored my full respect for him.

    • Wale

you are one of the best; brother-man.
      Congratulations,
You were great, your courage will carry you far in this world.
You are a heartening example of many others.
      stay blessed.

    • TC

Yes sir, free at last…… Much respect

  • Thepeople

This is victory for the Nigerian people. All hail the people of our country on a great victory. The right of the people to remove a government that failed them must remain sacrosant. We as a people must jealously protect this right and use it when necessary. We reserve the right to use it again if Buhari fails us. CHANGE HAS COME TO NIGERIA.

  • Northerner

How I wish Igbos are not part of Nigeria!

    • Sunny

      why?

    • TC

I”m a notherner and that is just wrong, we are all Nigerians. The issue was leadership not Ethinicity or region, the Igbo’s were amongst the first to donate the most towrds his campaign. Just cause their will was subverted by a few doesn’t mean we should feel this way, remember they live amongst us in the north, productive and peaceful lives. So I totally disagree with you on that. Its a victory for all Nigerians lets stick to issues and not sentiments, we are a new generation in 2015, leave the archaic way of thinking in for the 1960’s….God bless the FRN and may she live long.

    • tundemash

Go and sit with that your Boko Haram thinking and stop polluting the environment !

    • Otitokoro

You have to stop this Mr. Northerner. Your comment is UNACCEPTABLE. And you MUST apologise to Nigerians who worked for this change. Your silly comment is NOT the new Nigeria we are building with the well deserved victory of APC and Buhari/Osinbajo. You may just belong to the category of Nigerians we will start another round of battle against. And trust, we will start it right away if you continue with your backwardness. The new Nigeria is a Nigeria of love, mercy, kindness, peace, unity, collective and progress. It is ETHNIC NEUTRAL. We will battle your tribalism and terminate, and NIgerian people have the civil means to do it. A Nigerian free of division is what we Nigerian people fought for and for against Jonathan for. In this new Nigeria, there is NO VICTOR AND NO VANQUISHED. If you are not okay with this new Nigeria Mr. Northerner you just have to keep quiet or get out. I will be very hard and blunt with you. Look, Nigerian people have the power to change you, convince you and if you dont change then we will overwhelm you with arguments and peaceful, civil and democratic means and expose your extreme backwardness. One Love, One People, One Country Under Same Kind and Loving God. After Buhari-the new slogan is Sai Change and that is for backward medieval relics like you. Sai Change, Sai Nigeria oyoyo.

      • TC

Forgive him danwa, Ignorance knows no bounds…

      • tundemash

I believe he’s a PDP man trying to set one against the other; that is their trademark !

        • racino

          You caught him red handed

    • boliatepa

I think your comment is deplorable. Every part of Nigeria belongs to Nigeria. None is more deserving than another. However, I also think the Ibos need to think. Ibo ronu. Of all the ethnic groups, they are the only ones with one way of voting, except in Imo State. The time has come for Nigerians to embrace all sides of political ideology, rather than choose a linear path constructed by tribal considerations.

    • Nigeria Rap Lamar

Your poisonous thoughts will kill you and no one else. Congrats Nigeria for the New Change. God Bless Nigeria

      • End _Nigeria

What is poisonous there? U think every1 is as cowardly as your Yoruba people?

        • Nigeria Rap Lamar

I can see that foolishness is infectious, instead of you to encourage one Nigeria, you are here in defense of your fellow brainless moron. I welcome the wind of change, please do the same

          • End_Nigeria

Where is the Oba of Ilorin? Cowardice is not only infectious but hereditary. Sadly, you inherited a far worse mutant strand of weird cowardice. Mumuist mumu!

    • Mosaku 147

Mumu, you are not a northerner.you are an impostor who wants to cause division amongst us.we will not fall.every tribe contributed in no small way to this victory as one Nigeria.

      • tundemash

        You nailed him bro !

  • CHRISTOPHER AGBO

ALL YOU CORRUPT POLITICIANS YOUR TIME HAS ENDED, NO CORRUPT POLITICIAN WILL ESCAPE THE HOLY BULALA OF BUHARI, CONGRATULATIONS MY FELLOW NIGERIANS.

  • Raphael

First I want to congratulate the winner of the election. But I hope that in future many Nigerians won’t wish they had voted Jonathan back into power. Congrats one more time. General.

  • Niger Delta Spring – NOW?

    INSURGENCY – Part 2 — Coming soon?

Jonathan remains our courageous comrade with whom we are pleased. He confronted an evil cult of the North & West of Nigeria who have had their way since 1966. He kept Nigeria one and fought a war against terrorists who were supervised by his political opponent whose supporters were always willing to personally offer their daughters to the terrorists to prime for a suicide bombing mission.

The insurgency will now shift. From the desert to the Atlantic ocean webbed by the notorious creeks and highly inflammable pipelines which sustain Nigeria and Nigerians. Lets see how Buhari & Nigeria will survive a most imminent and volatile insurgency.

    • tundemash

Good on you. General Buhari and the new Nigerian Army we will build would need to test their new weapons. Pls being it on !

      • Niger Delta Spring – NOW?

Ok. We shall meet at Phillipi

  • Curious?

He fought the greatest battles not with Boko haram terrorists but with the terrorists within his government many of whom would openly refuse a handshake or stand by him during a photo session. Some openly insulted him. Others made fun of him directly or indirectly. He absorbed all and never for once became vindictive or overly reactionary. He maintained his cool in the face of the most bizarre antagonism from the Hausa North and the Yoruba West – who from day one, wanted him out even before he had the opportunity to perform.

The threat to make the country ungovernable had been perfected with Boko haram as the tool. It succeeded in obscuring the gains of a hardworking President who is unwanted just bcos of his ethnicity.

The election results have shown clearly that Nigeria is not a country. Jonathan won in his SS&SE and the Yoruba West sold their birth right on a promised plate of porridge. These results once again show that Nigeria is better off if divided into separate countries, and this is inevitably imminent.

Will the South & East accept this coup by the North & their enslaved West?

    Will MEND accept this coup?

    • boliatepa

Either a moron, is deranged or just melancholic.

    • TC

You have a problem, serious one…. one that no amount of self or external help will cure. A leader should be unflinching in carrying out his duties, he could have sought out and eliminated those not carrying out the policies set out by his government. Nothing stopped him from dismissing those trying to sabotage his government wether they be from the north south, chad, Liberia or space….. he did it to Sanusi so its no excuse. He had a problem being firm, why? cause he was in bed with the enemy….. so your argument is baseless and dis ingenious to say the least.

    • tundemash

Hmmmm …. you just confirmed what we have been saying about Jonathan.. that is a wimp and clueless.

You claimed “He fought the greatest battles not with Boko haram terrorists but with the terrorists within his government many of whom would openly refuse a handshake or stand by him during a photo session. Some openly insulted him. Others made fun of him directly or indirectly.”

And I ask you ….. is what have you said above a good attribute of a leader ?????? Good riddance to jatijati

My dear parasite, don’t worry. You will come back here in few months begging for negotiations but it will be too late.

  • Bobokowerimo

There is no airport, water, and even fish anymore in my Oloibiri since 1957. Wont I have a right to start an insurgency and blow up things like all oil & gas installations? Just asking a question.

    • TC

If you were intelligent or smart, you can instead use civil means to address your problems and see its heard so that your future generations can live better than you, or you can carry out your myopic view and your children will inherit same problem. you have a brain don’t you?…….. Did it take bombs or citizens actions to bring about this change? THINK………….you can see it happening yet you ask a dumb question.

” the need to stop intrigues, domination and internal colonization of the Nigerian state by the so-called chosen few. This, in our view, has been and is still responsible for 90 percent of the problems of Nigerians….” —– Gideon Orkar (April 22, 1990 Revolutionary Speech)

“…Our history is replete with numerous and uncontrollable instances of callous and insensitive dominatory repressive intrigues by those who think it is their birthright to dominate till eternity the political and economic privileges of this great country to the exclusion of the people of the Middle Belt and the south….”

    OUR FIRST (true) INDEPENDENCE

Now begins the huge task of rebuilding Nigeria’s economy,

character, reputation, image, society, and infra-structure.
    The economy, of

course, will be very important, but Mr. President-elect,
your first task is to restore hope

in the populace, and reassure them that the days of madness
    (blatant corruption, immorality,

wickedness, etc) are over. The populace wants to know that
    they don’t have shameless

unrepentant, and uncaring criminals as their leaders
anymore. They want a sense of transparency and

fairness in the populace, and a sense that they can enjoy
    the basic things a

blessed country like Nigeria (three-square meals a day,
    security, constant

electricity, clean water and environment, and competent
    education) guarantees

them. Nigerians want to know that they can go through
    airports with their heads

held high. Nigerians want to proudly announce their
    citizenship wherever they

go. Nigerians want to be the Singapore of Africa. Nigerians
    just want to …come

home. This home may be the physical space we call Nigeria,
    or the emotional and

psychological space we know exists that’s truly Nigerian,
    and truly unique.

Nigerians are one of the smartest, dynamic peoples on earth,
    and we want to…live.

No more Goodluck Jonathans, no more Patience Jonathans, no

more Ikonjo-Iwealas, no more Fani-Kayodes, no more Maduekes,
    no more…NO MORE!

We will be the wind behind Mohammed Buhari’s back. We will

support him where he keeps his word, gently caution him when
    he errs, and fight

him when he reverts to (bad) business as usual.

We urge him to watch his back; not all that surround him are
    friends or democrat.

The next Dimka is already plotting.Do like Obama does:

get someone else to taste your food before you eat it.

    We know we can’t get our wish to have you around forever;

we’ll take as-long-as-possible instead. We hunger for
    accountability of

past leadership, but we know you had to make a deal with the
    devil(s) for this

    to come to pass.

Going forward, we will watch you like a hawk, because for
    the

first time ever, the power is (truely) in the people’s
    hands.

    God Bless Nigeria.

Nigerians need to understand the meaning of ‘corruption’ and use the word correctly.
Corruption means dis-honest intention expressed by finessing a crooked outcome.
Within that precise definition of corruption, Buhari is the most corrupt Nigerian.

Anyone aspiring to rule a country must not lie, conceal or hide his qualifications to rule.

Since December 10th, 2014, Buhari lied against the Army on his supposed WAEC certificate.
Till today, he’s hung onto delay tactics and long adjournments in court to avoid a confession.
He plots to wangle the presidency of Nigeria without confessing the truth of his qualifications

That’s equivalent to forging an instrument to defraud a whole country and take over the treasury.

On the Niger Delta. In the last 7-8. Years, we have had: NDAP. NDDC. Ministry of the Niger Delta. Billions have been spent, mostly through Niger Delta leaders and elite. Resultant effects anyone?
Going by the effects I see it would seem as if there are no women and children in the Niger Delta. That cannot be true, but it’s clear those who have benefited the most are those with guns. Is that how a nation is born? In this day and age?I do not see any evidence of a successful Niger Delta nation at this time, resources alone do not make a nation, The Niger Delta simply does not possess the prerequisite institutions and will to stand alone and succeed. Think of those that will suffer, if you love the Niger Delta, education, healthcare, etc should be foremost in your mind instead of inflicting more suffering on the real Niger Delta people.
As a united nation, Ijaw vs itsekiri wars and various other vicious conflicts come to mind. This of course puts the idea a united Niger delta nation to rigorous test. Results anyone? It will be pertinent to note that the niger delta region does not have an exclusive franchise of regional inter ethnic strife, ife vs modakeke in the south west comes most. Readily to mind.

As for threats of war etc. I am sure you are joking. Mr Orubebe’s reaction made things worse instead of better. You would do well to think about organizing, politicking, and other effective means of securing your “Niger Delta” rather than threatening the existence of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria. Millions at home and abroad are interested and invested in the country, materially, spiritually, physically, mentally, surely you do not think your malevolent solutions can over power their will to bring the Light to the country. Take note: you have four years.

How Professor Jega ‘defeated’ Jonathan in the 2015 election

On this 2015 election, history will question Jonathan’s claim to being an educated man.
An educated person must think, plan, anticipate, pre-empt and leap over booby traps.
Goodluck Jonathan did none of those things in this 2015 election and he imploded today.
Conceding defeat without the PDP executives’ input is the height of his serial blunders.

Once Professor Jega had manipulated PVC distribution to reduce Igbo voters by four million,
and with President Jonathan then blithely ignorant of the consequences of that shenanigan,
he lost the election even before voting started on 28th March – but with ignorant confidence,
President Jonathan naively assumed that his Igbo voters also existed as accredited voters,
but they didn’t, they only existed on INEC’s other files as mere registered voters without PVC.
Goodluck Jonathan’s ignorant confidence on this point was his greatest un-doing.

He had six years, it’s enough cry baby…..

    • Orphic

No his greatest undoing was in not attempting to win away Tinubu and Saraki from the coalition that created APC. He saw all his political foes uniting and he did nothing. He saw that with a Buhari and Tinubu alliance a powerful political force of the North and South West was being created yet he and his supporters believed that Buhari as a serial loser could not unseat them.
Through political arrogance and insouciance Mr Jonathan lost the presidency rather than Mr Buhari winning it. In the end he was politically cornered into a SS, SE pocket dependent on the accumulation of votes from this region for his political survival. Without the rest of Nigeria his strategy of accumulating 95% of votes cast in these regions was a recipe for political instability. The longer he held out the more likely an unstable political outcome and in this he was wise to listen to the counsel of those at home and abroad who urged that he concede the contest.

JONATHAN SHOULD HAVE CONCEDED AS QUICKLY AS HE DID.
The election of this senile, illiterate certificate forger, perjurer, coup plotter, Islamic extremist and pedophile (he married his current wife when she was 9 years of age, and he, 43) is proof that the majority can sometimes be wrong. Apart from the fact that he was credited with millions of fraudulent votes (there was massive and rampant under-age voting, over-voting, as well as involvement of otherwise ineligible voters from neighbouring Chad and Niger republics), the sod was not even qualified to contest because he failed to attach evidence of his non-existent academic qualifications to his nomination form as required by law. Even the way he displayed his ballot paper in the photo above contravenes Nigeria’s electoral laws and is sufficient to earn him disqualification. Furthermore, there are at least 12 cases in Nigerian courts pending against him in respect of perjury and forgery allegations. If Nigeria was not the jungle that it is, this guy belongs either in jail or in the grave. How this character, whose First School Leaving Certificate has not been sighted would be leading a country in the 21st century is something some of us are still battling with. Anyone still wondering why Africa is the way it is? I certainly am not. The most surprising part of all this is that Obama of the U.S (or Kenya) and Cameron of GB have virtually forced this guy on Nigeria and Nigerians by constantly admonishing the electoral Commission to expedite his declaration as the President of Nigeria and I wonder why. I am sure ashamed to be a Nigerian. How can we reward someone who has truncated democracy before, with the highest office in the land?
(This is a reproduction of what I posted on Yahoo. I’ll be taking a break from posting online because Jonathan has left me completely heart-broken with his premature concession and condemnable cowardice).

    @pereajere,

2nd Niger Bridge in Igboland goes falling down

Agreed that Yoruba Muslims and northern Muslims have now taken over Nigeria
    – using Yoruba Christians plus the Tiv and Idoma in Benue state; and the Birom
in Plateau state as useful idiots, what did Igbo themselves do in defence?

Igbo went to school. What’s the purpose of schooling if the Igbo couldn’t reason?
properly by themselves. How did the five [5] Igbo states expect to make an impact
on the 2015 presidential election with mere 300,000 votes or so in each Igbo state?

When four [4] years ago Jonathan scored 1.1 million votes in Abia state alone?
I can’t blame Jonathan alone for this mess, silly as he was for not looking out
for his own. Interest. The Igbo who stood to lose by his loss should have checked
Professor Jega’s virtual pre-election rigging in each of the five states in Igboland.

(2)…………….2nd Niger Bridge in Igboland goes falling down

      Now i think Igbo people of Nigeria can forget any 2nd Niger Bridge for the next 20 years;
and along with it the hope of likely ever producing a president of Nigeria from Igboland
because Goodluck’s Jonathan’s election in 2011 marked the end of zoning and rotation.

The Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri Muslims will fight to retain the presidency of Nigeria, forever, in alliance
with the Yoruba Muslims. That is what has happened in Nigeria today. There is danger ahead.
As northern and Yoruba Christians unite to yearn for Islamic State, the omens are bad.

The Ohanaeze would need to meet and confer, urgently, to assess this tectonic shift in Nigeria.
For never since 1960 has Nigeria been made into an explicit Islamic State like has just happened.
This 2015 election is a renunciation of Christianity in Nigeria by Yoruba and northern Christians.

“Sharia should be introduced all over Nigeria.
I will continue to show openly and inside me,
the total commitment to the Sharia movement
that is sweeping all over Nigeria. God willing,
we will NOT stop the agitation for total
implementation of Sharia in the country.

It is a legal responsibility which God has given us,
within the context of one Nigeria, to continue to
uphold the practice of Sharia wholeheartedly.

What remains for Muslims in Nigeria is for them
to re-double their efforts and educate Muslims on
the need to promote the full implementation of Sharia law.”

At least now the news and online news media of The Punch, The Vanguard, The premium Times, Saharanewsreporters, PM News can now truly go back to source for news materials now that Jonathan they talk about is out of the way.
My guess is that it will be difficult though, since 90% of the news items are based on GEJ.
That said, congratulations to the people general.
It is a lot easier to get to the top, but staying at the top is a different story altogether.
Four year will tell, Nigerians are watchin as usual.
My thought though, GEJ is just too gentle for Nigeria and he is a man ahead of his time. The Nigerian political space of today does not welcome his types but posterity will see him as larger than life.

SEE WHAT CHRISTIANS WROUGHT ON NIGERIA

“We must prove to them that NORTHERNERS will rise again to glory because the
problem of the North is the North; and so, we the northerners must resolve our
differences for the betterment of our children. The North is determined and is
insisting that the leadership of this country will rotate to it in 2015. With zoning dead,
i am making it very clear to you that if it is on the basis of one man, one vote, the
demography shows that the North can keep power as long as it wants
because the North will always win presidential election

      This is 100% Buhari’s government – NOT Yemi Oshinbajo’s

@aljihadi: The Yoruba Christians are educated for nothing. They and their Pastors don’t think.
They delusively say an Islamic APC party looking for votes by fielding a Christian running mate has
become a secular party. What ignorance! Whereas, in all Islamic parties worldwide, it is standard
to hire submissive Christians into subordinate positions, mostly as scribes.

Buhari’s running mate – Pastor Yemi Oshinbajo – is like another insignificant scribe working for Islamic
party. The northern Muslims did not undertake this virtual Jihad to handover power to Yemi Oshinbajo.
Of course not! He was put on the ticket on conditions and just to bait Christian voters into false belief.
Yemi Oshinbajo has no right to sign ONE NAIRA treasury cheque. Buhari has 100% control of everything.

Yemi Oshinbajo has NO right under the laws or the Constitution of Nigeria to check or stop anything Buhari
decides to do. This is 100% Buhari’s government. Yemi Oshinbajo’s role under the 1999 Constitution is to
do only those things Buhari instructs him to do. So, the hungry Yoruba Pastors who egged the body of Christ
into embracing Sharia Law in the hope of stealing the treasury through Yemi Oshinbajo, are insanely ignorant.

    Muhammadu Buhari’s Islamist recklessness

If the secular status of Nigeria is threatened by Buhari’s announcement to
foster nationwide Sharia law, the Nigerian federation becomes automatically
dissolved in law. The Christian states in eastern region would be entitled to

unilaterally declare independence. That’s the effect of Muhammadu Buhari’s
recklessness. We may be close to witnessing that dissolution if Buhari does
not forthwith retract his reckless statement through a signed public notice.

No Nigerian can be compelled in international law to live inside a forbidden
Islamic State of Nigeria. The earlier Muhammadu Buhari gets that, the better.

WHY 2015 ELECTION IS WASTE OF MONEY FOR BUHARI

For a poor country, Nigeria can actually afford to be frugal This election was pure waste of money.
It has no consequence; regardless that Buhari had 2.5million more votes than his closest contestant.
The election was at best an entertainment after Buhari presented affidavit in December 2014 saying
he obtained WASC but can’t show it or prove it. So, why waste money staging an election for such dubious
claimant? That’s prodigal. The number of votes Buhari won is moot. He can’t be sworn in under the law.

    • alawee

……(2) WHY 2015 ELECTION IS WASTE OF MONEY FOR BUHARI

Buhari is deemed constitutionally dis-qualified for giving false certificate by recitation in affidavit to INEC.
Unless he shows his WASC by tendering it – which he’s not done since December – he ‘s wasting his time.
By common sense he may never be able to show it, actually, so, what’s an election worth for such person?
The number of votes Buhari won cannot replace the Constitution stipulating MANDATORY dis-qualification.
Or does a concession of defeat by President Jonathan give Buhari the WASC Buhari does not have or show.
The 1999 Constitution of Nigeria is the greatest will of the people; and, it nullifies all the votes Buhari got.

      • JustMe

Is that all you have got! Please Nigerians have moved on from these rants…Even Jonathan has moved on…So what is your own. Nigeria is greater than any political interest. Sink or swim guy.

          @justme,

Not quite. Buhari has a date in court on 22nd April. Nobody in Nigeria can set aside
the Constitution of Nigeria, not even the Judge in the court. The Constitution says
SHALL NOT BE QUALIFIED. When the Constitution uses the word ‘shall’, no court,
nobody, not even President Jonathan, has the power to re-qualify Buhari.

          • JustMe

alawee, you are a very bitter loser,a jobless upstart, its either u are blinded by bitterness over the loss of your preferred candidate or your senses have gone on a vacation to planet Mars, for you to realise that the issue of Buhari’s certificate his a feeble attempt, that its absolutely immaterial in the scheme of things. Mind you its secondary school had release his result, so there is no doubt that he did not go to secondary school. If you must know there are millions of Nigerians in top position of authority either in public or private, within and outside Nigeria, that have never set eyes on their WASC certificate. So move past your pettiness and embrace the sweet gentle wind of change.
