Nigeria2015: PDP chairman, Mu’azu, rules out landslide victory for Jonathan, others

Former PDP Chairman, Adamu Mu'azu

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu, has ruled out a landslide victory for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

The PDP has formed the federal government as well as most of the state governments since the return of democracy in Nigeria 16 years ago, following its victory in the 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 elections.

President Goodluck Jonathan is the PDP candidate in the March 28 presidential poll.

In a statement on Thursday, Mr. Mu’azu said he did not foresee a landslide victory for his party in the coming elections billed for March 28 and April 11.

He however said he was confident the party will win the elections.

According to him, “Our major concern in the Peoples Democratic Party is not to allow the country to be hijacked by desperadoes masquerading as purveyors of good governance, who promise heaven and earth to the people without any intention of fulfilling their election promises in the name of change.

“While I do not see a landslide victory coming, I am convinced that our party will perform creditably in the Southwest and the North of Nigeria and elsewhere in all the elections this year because the evidence is clear that despite our travails at the beginning, we have done very well over the past fifteen years of our nascent democracy since 1999 to record victory. Those who disbelieve our resilience will be surprised for victory is ours.”

Mr. Mu’azu, whose relationship with Mr. Jonathan is allegedly frosty, said the last four years had seen Nigeria take the economic centre stage by pursuing policies that have made the country to be the economic hub of Africa, proactively investing heavily in agricultural production as the alternative to oil, pursuing legislation that will make its people to control its oil and gas resources through the petroleum industry bill which is due for enactment by this National Assembly, perhaps before the end of this parliament.

“I am delighted by the progress of our defence forces and their international collaborators in the war against insurgency in the Northeast of our country and the current mop up operations to sweep away the insurgents has progressed beyond our imagination,” the PDP national chairman said.

“I am sure that President Jonathan when re-elected for a second term will declare a Marshall Plan to rebuild the entire geopolitical zone affected by the war. Our party has this programme on the top of our agenda in the next four years. That will be the right way to wipe away the scars of war among the people of that area.”

Mr. Mu’azu, a former governor of Bauchi State, said he remained hopeful that the PDP “has not only taken the pole position in this tight two-horse race to win the 2015 presidential election, but will also go ahead to win the majority in the National Assembly and win many more states.”

He added, “A vote for the PDP candidate, President Jonathan, is a vote for democracy, human rights, freedom and good governance. Nigerians know that it would be more risky voting any other way as it would mean uncharted waters, an uncertain future that is a potentially fraught enterprise.”

The national chairman explained that after three weeks of town hall meetings, exchanges with traditional rulers and generally spreading the winning message of the PDP achievements and review of its activities since the 2011 presidential elections with supporters in the North East and South West of Nigeria, the party’s leadership is reassured it is inching its way to victory in the 2015 presidential elections.

He stated further, “We shall continue this interactive engagement with Nigerians until 26th March when campaigns officially end before the March 28th Presidential elections, presenting our scorecard in government, our programme in the next four years to 2019, using the town hall format and meeting our revered traditional rulers. The PDP has a special plan that will see them play more roles in government in the near future via the instrument of the constitution. We believe that the traditional institution is crucially important to the peace, harmony and progress of our father land.

“We are going around the country in search of undecided voters, who are the final battle ground where the election will be won or lost. The APC can continue to stir the rumour mills into believing that Mr. President and myself are in dispute, but we are very serious about winning a fourth presidential election and Insha Allah, we shall make it.”

Mr. Mu’azu denied the claim by the All Progressives Congress that Mr. Jonathan was distributing hard currency to traditional rulers to vote for him.

“The opposition party through one of its governors was shamefully saying that President Jonathan was giving away dollars to traditional rulers in the course of these visits.

“It is a pity, coming from one of their respected governors, but we shall remain undaunted because as a rule, our party must continue the tradition of respect to our traditional fathers whose contribution to the peace of our country cannot be measured in monetary terms.”

Our major concern in the Peoples Democratic Party is not to allow our country to be hijacked by desperados masquerading as purveyors of good governance, who promise heaven and earth to the people without any intention of fulfilling their election promises in the name of CHANGE.

Electricity, Second Niger Bridge, Security etc Adamu Mu’azu, have you fulfilled your promises to Bauchi State when you were Governor? If only Jonathan was more tolerant of the truth and less hateful against those who can tell him the truth, I am sure that some of his close aides would have told him by now that he will lose the election. So this is Muazu’s way of speaking the bitter truth without incurring the wrath of a conceited Jonathan.

Fashola Blasts Striking Doctors, ‘no work, no pay’ Policy – A ‘no work, no pay’ policy is going to be applied to striking doctors in whose strike has went into the 3rd day, Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, declared on Wednesday at the commissioning of the recently built cardiac as well as renal centre at Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.

He disclosed that the state government did not owe any doctors their legitimately earned salaries, but the decision not to pay striking workers is not a policy of his government “but one that was enacted by a Federal Act”. Fasholaalso explained that the said salary which the doctors were demanding was not earned and so not legitimate.

“Doctors should understand that the issue about doctors who go on strike is not my choice. It is a provision of the Trade Dispute Act. It prescribes very clearly that if people go on strike, they will not be entitled to pay.

“They must also understand that the period when they went on strike was when we had Ebola. That was when we needed them most.

Gen Buhari, Why Why? I voted for you but your ‘Sai Buhari’ killers never believed i did.
Letter To Buhari From The Grave Of The Innocent Youth Cooper Mallam Yusuf Danfulani.

    Dear General Buhari.
I would’ve addressed this letter privately to you, but in the expectation that you may not receive it, I decided to make it an Open Letter, in the hope that you would stumble on it, read it and hopefully feel some of the pains and anguish that have been my lot. Having said that, permit me therefore to proceed with the rest of this missive from the grave of innocents departed.

Last night, while I was at my modest home in Katsina, relaxing and probably half-awake, I heard the voice of my cousin who was killed in the North/East in April 2011 during the post-election violence instigated by your loss of the presidential election.
With bloodshot sad eyes, my cousin, looking apparition-like, was wailing “Gen Buhari, why why”. My cousin’s name is (or was) Mallam Yusuf Danfulani, a bright young lad originally from Katsina State, who was slaughtered in cold blood and set on fire by youths chanting “Sai Buhari”, like they are again now chanting in 2015.

Oodua Peoples Congress will win this war to save Lagos state and
Yorubaland from the twin evil of BOLA TINUBU and RAJI FASHOLA –
the twin treasury robbers who’ve nearly destroyed Yoruba culture by
declaring STEALING as the culture of Yoruba people.

This street revolution which started March 16th must be continued everyday until
Bola Tinubu and Raji Fasola are caught and brought to revolutionary justice.
All their Commissioners, Advisers, Assistants and other appointees, must be
stripped of all assets they stole. THERE SHALL BE NO HIDING PLACE for this

Both Bola Tinubu and Raji Fashola must be arrested at the earliest opportunity,
as this REVOLUTION progresses on a daily basis. They’ll get revolutionary justice
on the streets. And so, all youths of conscience in Lagos state must rise and join
this REVOLUTION led by O’odua Peoples Congress to bring ACN/APC thieves

March 8, 2015 will be a payback day for President Goodluck Jonathan in North for annoying Northern elites throughout the 5 years he was in office.
The North are not used to development and Jonathan did not respect this and worked against the culture and principals of Northern cabals and brought some of these projects and development.

These are some of the annoying projects by the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in NORTHERN, Nigeria.

    Education:
*Nine New Federal Universities in Zamfara, Jigawa, Kogi, Yobe, Taraba, Gombe, Katsina, Nasarawa and Kebbi
    *125 Almajiri Schools
    *16 Girl Child Schools

    • Jibiya Hydro power project, Katsina
    • Rehabilitation of the Bakalori Irrigation and Hydropower project
    Zamfara
    • Construction of several sub-stations and injection substations within the North West Zone

    • You did not read the article that described Jonathan as a tinker and all his so called achievements are just tinkering with what others did. Jonathan’s achievements are like the works of a tinker not of a thinker. No serious world leader would list the items you listed as achievements. This government is really kindergarten.

  • Landslide or no landslide Jonathan is a gonner. Jonathan has become a byword for incompetency and stealing.

  • May Nigeria never be ruled again by anyone near the cluelessness of Jonathan. Amen
Jonathan can lavish all the country’s money bribing and dividing people, but he must leave power in May 2015. Nigeria cannot afford another four more years of stealing under Jonathan. Bye Jonathan.

    Nigerian Court Judges under-develop Nigeria

“An illterate farmer in a remote village sitting to mediate villagers’ dis-agreement on rights,
makes more sense to me than your robed Judges in the courts you have in Nigeria
    “, a foreign
lawyer said to me at an international conference in Madrid a few years ago. He is right.
Nigerian Court Judges lack lateral thinking ability and long lost society’s respect as mere
    relics of colonialism.

They wholly engage in bribes and frivolities, without ever intelligently considering, addressing or
deciding any case submitted to them for its implication on law and order in Nigeria. In Nigeria,
the Judges simply under-develop Nigeria the country and hinder democracy impossible to start.
in the now blighted country, wholesale sack of all Judges – federal and state – is a desideratum.
Until that revolutionary step is taken, Nigerians will live in delusion that having named a brick house
as ‘court of law’ the brick building automatically becomes a court once a clutch of utterly dull fellows
are attired in black robes and given a gavel each to crouch behind a bench. It does not work like that.

    • Dulles2

……….(2) Nigerian Court Judges under-develop Nigeria

I followed the case of Buhari’s WASC certificate overseas here because Premium Times
got me interested in it. But now i regret it, because as an international lawyer i know that
the Buhari case died today by a silly adjournment to the 23rd of March – five days to election.
I can project without a doubt that the Buhari case is potentially moot and liable to be struck out
in any event, because NO SINGLE STEP in the proceeding has been taken by the court so far.
Yet, this was a case notified to the Chief Judge since 12th January and requested to be expedited,
as filed in court. But nothing was done.

This is a case that could be decided in 48 hours here in Europe since there’s just one ultimate issue.
But the Nigerian Court said it is still consolidating joinder applications as at today. That’s crap.
Consolidating what? When all the Court needed to do all along was use one of the 13 cases as the
“test case” – the result of which would dispose the remainder twelve (12) cases. “Did Buhari sit for
the Cambridge/Wasc certificate in 1961; if yes, where is the proof?”
That’s all there is to decide here.

Why should a prudent and responsible Court of law need two-and-a half months to prepare to start?
It is worse that the presiding Judge is yet to see the implication of allowing an alleged un-qualified
person to be put on the ballot with the very naive hope of later removing him as President of a country.
Which is easier to do? To schedule accelerated hearing now, before the election; or, disrupt the country
much later and months after an un-qualified candidate might have taken office were he to unlikely win?
There is no hope for Nigeria with a court system so bereft of thought and prudence – not to say sense.

          @Dulles:

I think you should also have lambasted the dull lawyers in Nigeria – very dull.
None of the lawyers (S.AN or so) filed any formal application for what you said.
Barrister Mike Ozekhome was only howling orally in court that the Judge should
take all joinders and objections “in one fell swoop”, as he called it. But oral howling
is not a formal application under Nigerian law or is it binding on court to do anything.
And “in one fell swoop”, as a phrase, has no meaning in law in any court in this world.

through newspapers. Justice Ademola then adjourned till 24th
March to rule on that irrelevancy. The Supreme Court precedent
on that point should have led him aright to dismiss their objection

          • Buzugbe

Irrelevancy indeed. I am myself dis-appointed at both WOLE OLANIPEKUN and LATEEF FAGBEMI over their excursion into extreme frivolity, just to impede hearing of Buhari’s Wasc case. In my own view, that is not lawyering. It is more akin to laxity. I hope junior lawyers will not learn these examples because that is not how law should be practised in my own understanding. How can anyone stand up in court to say he wants to contest the substituted service that brought him to court in the first place? What sort of lawyering is that? That sort of comedy can only happen in Nigeria where there’s no law.

By this statement I gather that the chief justice and the law courts are pro-Buhari. Why should the president be so unpopular that the courts known to be beholden to the president are now openly working against him. Do you mean the Judges cant be bought with all the dollars GEJ exchanged for Naira? Remember the dollar went from 160 to the dollar to now (as some speculate) 250 to the dollar. Only two men can do that to our money GEJ and IBB.

      • andy

That is the way you see it. If you are on ground you would decipher the plan. The plaintiffs and the judge are working in unison. The plan is to deliver a judgment very close to the election declaring Buhari in eligible to contest given him no room to appeal and even if he succeeds in getting any counter injunction, he would have a tough time convincing the the electorate since campaigns are not allowed after 26th of march. If this is done much earlier as you had expected it then Buhari would have allow the time to provide them the evidence and that would defeat the purpose. I can see your disappointment that Buhari is coasting to victory and your only way of stopping him is by obtaining a fraudulent judgment . this is beyond you and your fraudulent PDP

      • Etomi

Your misgivings are as good as mine….
But remain cool…with this certificate thingy, there is no way Buhari can become Nigeria’s president…
The courts may be slow..It is deliberate..
With the desperation of the opposition, the courts are scared to move swiftly..
Let the man test his popularity at the poll, any way…that appears the wiser route to toe..
But his popularity or not will not suffice, if he is not qualified, for we operate a constitutional democracy and not military rule…
The fact that Buhari’s lawyers are using interminable applications for joinder to frustrate the suit on his eligibility is tell-tale that Buhari has no certificate whatsoever and thus not qualified to contest or eligible to become Nigeria’s president….
Buhari’s is a dead case on arrival!

  • According to Chief Mike Ozekome SAN ” Youth unemployment is the father of Boko Haram, Militancy, Kidnappings, Robbery etc”

Chief Wole Olanippekun SAN, former Unibadan Chancellor says …….. ” Go to the streets, you will see anger and frustration…….suffering, poverty, anguish and malady written boldly on the faces of several Nigerians”.

We are certainly in a state of economic anomie with a free fall of the Nigerian Naira which will lead to inflation and multiply poverty as we are principally an import dependent nation.

You cannot vote online. Reach out to your hangers on in the villages on the need to vote for an incorruptible Presidential Candidate.

Tell your wards in the villages and towns that they should accept the bribes in cash and freebies from these heartless politicians but should vote a leader that will stop the massive looting and corruption in government.

This decision of a simple call from Overseas or Cities, is yours to make because if you do not, you will be sentenced to another four years of sending your hard earned cash to the villages, to buffer our people from the failings of Government. You have been warned.

Gen Buhari, in case you have forgotten, Yusuf was slaughtered in your name even though he never did any wrong to you, and even voted for you against Dr Jonathan. He lost his life just because the murderers you encouraged by your many hate speeches believed Yusuf to be from middle belt or southern Nigeria, most probably because of his bulky looks and brave, patriotic attempts to prevent the killing of an innocent Youth Corper, Ukeoma Ikechukwu.WHAT A SHAME

Muazu, if sincere, needs to tell Nigerians why Jona will not win in a landslide as he did in 2011. Being incubent for six years, this suppose to give him more than landslide victory but because he has failled Nigerians, he chance of winnig is very slim.

PDP would be surprise to see a landslide victory for the opposition despite all dollars shared. The most annoying part of it is the stress Jona is making us go through almost everyday when he comes arround to share his stolen dollars

THAT IS WHAT WE CAN IMAGINATION—-The corps members KILLED BY BUHARI were chased to a police station where they sought refuge. But the rioters, who were raving mad with bloodlust and chanting “Sai Buhari”, overran the station and murdered the young Nigerians in cold blood.

So, Gen Buhari, as you can see from the Bauchi result and it’s aftermath, your supporters even shed blood when you win; still you have no qualms.

Today, you are jumping around the nation like a toad, arrogant and angry as usual, behaving like you have already won the election; and thus setting up another bloodletting if you are not announced winner.
The story of Obinna Okpokiri is as heart-wrenching as Yusuf’s. The 27-year-old was butchered and burnt to ashes, in the service of his fatherland. Okpokiri’s own circumstances as an ijaw youth were as gruesome as they could be.
He had run to the Corpers’ Lodge as the rampaging ‘Sai Buhari’ rioters targeted Youth Corper polling officers recruited by INEC for the election. As painful death loomed, the young Nigerians contemplated fleeing to the barracks. But they were not lucky enough. Your ‘Sai Buhari’ supporters caught up with them, slaughtered and set them on fire.

Hear Oh, Nigerians: “Behold APC’s Terror Machine in Aguda, Surulere in Lagos!! Is this the Face of Change In Lagos?!!!”

In Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, residents are suffering untold hardship because of the egregious insincerity of the APC led-government in Lagos. Nearly two years ago, the APC-led Lagos State Government descended on Adetola Street a major street in Aguda, Surulere, claiming it was working on it. They did about 2% of the work, destroyed most of the remaining part with their caterpillars and abandoned it. Now, most parts of Adetola, a prominent street in Aguda, are impassable. Next they descended on Brown Road, another prominent street. More than a year ago, they covered one side of the Brown Road with slabs for making gutters and left them there for several months, thereby bringing undue pressure on the remaining part which did not take time to degenerate and become impassable.

Now, as the elections approached (that is February 14, before the postponement), they returned to Brown Road. They cut off virtually all the streets joining the road in the name of constructing gutters; majority of them are still like that, posing great hardship to road users. Then they used their caterpillars and rendered Brown impassable, I mean impassable. Every morning now, for people to drive to work, they would have navigate through several shut cuts to get out of Aguda. It is very horrible. Only God knows the number of people that may have been punished at work or sacked since this terror commenced. And when the elections were postponed, they abandoned the road again. If there is a small rain in Aguda today, you would weep watching little children going to school and workers going to work, even those who are driving. Everywhere will become muddy with read earth soiling all the cars. But the more heart-breaking sight is watching school children getting stuck in the mud and destroying their shoes, with some of them slipping and falling and damaging their uniforms, books and even their bodies. Despite this, the APC workers still left greater part of Brown Road in that horrible state and descended on a short stretch of road between Brown Junction (By Olorunda Presbyterian Church) and Aguda Market, a road that is not up to a kilometer, but a very important escape route for the hapless, trapped Aguda people. For a very long time they have destroyed that one too, making it impassable and locking out residents of the adjoining streets. Soon, they began to place interlocks on the road (a work that should otherwise take about two days), but till now, they are yet to even done half of it, assuming they are still plan to do it. These people are experts in raising and quashing hopes. Their heartlessness is unparalleled.

Next, they descended on Nuro Oniwo Street – another escape route, closed it, and now, to get out of Aguda every morning has become the worst nightmare.

I learnt that nobody can say anything about this, not even Gov Fashola, because the company unleashing this terror on Aguda residents is owned by the wife of the Lagos godfather himself, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, who is contesting to return to the Senate. There is a suspicion that if the APC wins in Lagos, that the work will be abandoned completely so that the new government that renegotiate the contract. This is rainy season will be hell for people living in Aguda.

Now, my question is: why not at least take one road and finish it before descending on others? Why cut off almost every street that empty into these roads, thereby making it very difficult for people to drive out? Why destroy virtually all the roads without sincerely intending to work on any of them, thereby imposing untold hardship on the people? One can only imagine the trauma Aguda people will go through once the rains arrive, given that virtually all the road that take people out of Aguda has been horribly destroyed by these merciless APC tractors, without any of them done. Anyone in Aguda who votes for the APC (the party that has brought the people so much hardship) should have his head reexamined. That is the solid truth

I expeirenced first hand the story u are telling us aboput the deplorable condition of roads in Lagos——the biggest fraud in Nigeria is this APC—again how do u expect—————drug addicts–abnd certificate forgers–in APC———to have the milk of human kindness in them–to have the welfare of the masses at heart—Fashola went about Lagos sharing biscuits–and noddles to lagosians the other day—its really sad–that we still have Nigerians aided by the Nigerian press–buying into the rubbish—————by APC–

PDP leaders cannot stop lying and living in denial. Common sense should let Muazu know that Jonothin didn’t dole out the money to animal who could not talk or morons who could hide their mouth but respected leaders who did not like the act of stealing. Thus, they chose to expose the intense corruption that is on going before the elections. Nigerians need more than this from their President his party. Who is plotting to kill President Jonathan?

“Nigeria is aspiring very hard to become a failed state. There are clear
indications of a military intervention. I just hope we don’t wake up one day
with our complacent attitude and find out that we, as a people, have been
overthrown by very sinister, illegal and useless forces. Ex-military officers
and security officers are trying to push aside the political contestants and
use the (Boko Haram) unrest in the North-East as an excuse to establish
    an interim government”.

    …………..Professor Wole Soyinka

    (18th March, 2015)

    • Newsbreak

………..(2) Who is plotting to kill President Jonathan?

“The nature of the interim government wants to pretend it’s not really a military
intervention. A few political leaders, well-known civilians, want to give the veneer
of civilian structure, but basically it’s a kind of political intervention. It is now an
established fact that there had been moves towards scuttling the democratic process
by instituting a so-called interim government. But the proof is there of some
participants in meetings for the formation of an interim government. Why form an
interim government when there is an electoral process?”

      …………..Professor Wole Soyinka

      (18th March, 2015)

      • Delta Liberation Movement

Ah, ah! Soyinka has exposed them. Let anybody in this coup know one thing for sure.
The first shot these coup plotters fire will be the death-knell of a country called Nigeria.
A word is enough for the wise. Anyone told ex-military officers in Nigeria, will think NORTH.
Any northern officer in this treasonous plot should withdraw forthwith in his own interest.
This is not 1966. This is 2015. The North will be totally destroyed if this coup is launched.
General Muhammadu Buhari will naturally be a suspect. So will General Olusegun Obasanjo.
The acidic hatred both men show toward President Jonathan will logically raise eyebrows.
General Obasanjo said early on this year that President Jonathan may be inviting a coup.
