US condemns postponement of Nigeria elections

The United States government has expressed ‘deep’ disappointment by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14.

A statement by U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, shortly after the announcement of the poll shift by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, on Saturday, said political interference with INEC is unacceptable.

Mr. Jega, while announcing the shift, said INEC’s decision follows a letter from security agencies informing the commission that security cannot be guaranteed if the elections go ahead as scheduled.

He said the Nigerian military is currently engaged in operations against Boko Haram insurgents in the north-eastern part of the country.

“Last Wednesday…the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) wrote a letter to the Commission, drawing attention to recent developments in four Northeast states of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Gombe currently experiencing the challenge of insurgency.

“The letter stated that security could not be guaranteed during the proposed period in February for the general elections,” Mr. Jega said.

But the U.S. government in its reaction said “it is critical that the government not use security concerns as a pretext for impeding the democratic process”.

Mr. Jega had also on Saturday announced new dates of March 28 and April 11 for national and state elections.

The US said the international community would be watching closely as the Nigerian government prepares for elections on the newly scheduled dates.

“The United States underscores the importance of ensuring that there are no further delays.

“As I reaffirmed when I visited Lagos last month, we support a free, transparent, and credible electoral process in Nigeria and renew our calls on all candidates, their supporters, and Nigerian citizens to maintain calm and reject election-related violence,” Mr. Kerry said.

America must NOT give Nigeria any ultimatum, whether covert or overt. Firstly, Nigeria is not part of America and is not in any way under American jurisdiction. Secondly, America must always learn to mind its own business and concentrate on its own domestic affairs as most countries are wont to do. I don’t know why America must be the outsider that weeps louder than the bereaved; what’s America’s business whether Nigeria held election or not?

    • Arabakpura

But your president said when he was being asked about the missing billions of dollars; I quote, ”do you think if that kind of money is missing, America will not know?” so, America knows what it is talking about. Let’s not doubt them this time

      • tsunami1earthquake

Since it is believed America could have known about the missing dollars but kept quiet, does that show friendliness in a situation the money could have been useful to the ordinary citizens? America is no true friend of Nigeria and has consistently disappointed Nigeria seriously during Nigeria’s hour of greatest need, like in the Boko Haram fight; and reading of that was that Nigeria should be its own man. Okay, we understand that. So why is America interfering now in a Nigeria it has abandoned? What is America’s interest in a country it has abandoned? Normally, your friend might comment or intervene/interfere when you have a problem but surely somebody who has declared himself unfriendly has no business interfering/intervening. America should leave Nigeria alone to continue being its own man. Surely this election matter will come to pass. Nigeria has always known how to solve its problem one way or the other.

        • Arabakpura

America did not abandon Nigeria. The Chibok girls could have been rescued when America and other foreign powers came to help Nigeria. Due to the fear and the shame of being disparaged by its citizenry if outsiders will come to Nigeria to do her job for her, the government decided to thwart their efforts by sabotage and blackmail and so they all left. We know these things. Our government told them that they would be the ones to execute any plan that they devised. The Americans knowing how corruption had eaten deep into the fabrics of Nigeria, decided not to play into the hands of ISIS an AL Qaeda and quietly went away with their credibility leaving the fate of the Chibok girls in the hands of Jonathan. Now, where are the girls?

          • tsunami1earthquake

Okay, if your story is perfectly true the bottom line from it is that the Americans finally quit because of what they perceived as ‘Nigerian corruption’. All the contents of your story are predicated on the fact that these ‘negotiations of leadership’ only started in Nigeria and NOT even before the Americans left their own shores? Don’t you think that all matters must have been dealt with in the normal agreements before the Americans came to Nigeria? And if the Americans so loathed the idea of Nigeria leading the operation the negotiations would have died instantly; and the Americans would not have come to Nigeria in the first place.

I think that something else could have made the Americans leave; not necessarily this ‘leadership of operations’ issue. After all, the Nigerians would have led an operation that would still have involved the Americans also; and the latter would not have allowed the ‘Nigerian corruption’ to rear its head. Remember also that the Americans usually prefer the citizens of the country they help to do the active chores in the military operations. So, there is really another reason that made the Americans leave. Accordingly, the bottom line was that America abandoned Nigeria.

          • Bibi

I think America should start repatriating the children of he destroyers of Nigeria such as Diezani Alison Madueke, Nkonjo Iweala, Jonathan himself if he has anybody in America, Reno Omokri, Doyin Okupe, Reuben Abati, Sambo Dasuki, Clerk, or is that one called Clark?, Kingsley Kuku, children of those so-called military service chiefs who have been bribed with Jonathan’s evil oil money, and all those hiding their faces in the private sector-America should deport their children right away. Because if America should not interfere in our affairs, then the destroyers of Nigeria should not send their children to America to study after they destroyed Nigeria.

          • tsunami1earthquake

There are two issues you’ve raised here. One is America’s interference in Nigeria’s affairs; the other is the education of the named Nigerians’ children in America. The first issue is very clear and America sure understands that. No nation must interfere in another nation’s internal affairs. That’s international law. Then the second issue is a matter of private law. The American schools have entered into a contract of educating those children for an agreed fee. America can therefore not just bundle those children away from America just because it is told not to interfere in another country’s internal affairs. But then it’s up to America to do what it wants.

          • Bibi

I am compiling the list of the parent-destroyers of Nigeria who have used Nigerian money to send their children to America and UK. UK and America should start deporting them now now. They are children and relatives of Diezani Alison Madueke, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Reno Omokri, Doyin Okupe, Femi Fanikayode, Reuben Abati, Sambo Dasuki, all the military service chiefs, Reuben Fasoranti, Edwin Clark, Femi Okuronmu, Ezeife, -we are compiling the list- America said she will deny these truncators of Nigerian democracy visa, but America and UK should go further-the children of these parent looters and destroyers of Nigerian economy and democracy should be deported and denied visa

          • tsunami1earthquake

Maybe such a move would make Nigeria to come back to its senses and rehabilitate the nation’s educational system, and bring back the shine and glory once more to Nigeria’s education! If one door closes another door will surely open. With a good educational system I don’t see why Nigerians would troop to America for education.

          • Arabakpura

You are now beginning to sound like a tower of wisdom. I like you like this. Keep it up!

          • tsunami1earthquake

            Thanks, bro!

          • Bibi

Why did yu not use the stolen money to establish schools here in Nigeria? Why steal it and use it to send spoilt children abroad? This is the time to start digging and publish names of the children of these Nigerian criminals under Goodluck Jonathan!!!.

          • tsunami1earthquake

Even though I loathe all these corruptions we see everywhere in Nigeria, one thing is still evident. Many of these looters of the Nigerian Commonwealth are silent billionaires. Unfortunately they cannot invest such stolen monies in Nigeria for obvious reasons. And, as we all know, such monies are used to develop an already developed economy round the world.

          • Bibi

You have just confirmed that you people steal our money and PUBLIC money is being used to train children of Nigerian criminal politicians/ministers /service chiefs etc abroad. Thank you. We will take appropriate action as we move forward. It is not a a mere online talk! We aew only putting this out there.

          • Bibi

You are scared-Right? We will compile the list and the list will be made PUBLIC. I have started with the names of the parents. We will dig more and bring this information out. You stole our money. You used that money to send the children abroad. You want to keep them there while you destroy here-eh? No way. We will dig and publish that list. Start shaking-which contract?

          • tsunami1earthquake

You see one thing in that? You may succeed in digging up all these info, and even give the entire coordinates of the benefiting children resident in the USA. But I tell you what, this same USA would protect those children on grounds of ‘human rights’, why? Because the US benefits from the fees these children pay.

          • Bibi

The children of the Nigerian bazzztaaards politicians will be denied visa.

          • tsunami1earthquake

America to deny them visa when the American Embassy knows these children are repatriating money to America? No way! Even if the embassy knew the money was dirty they would instantly christen it as ‘clean money’.

          • Bibi

Deport the children of the Baztarrrds

          • Bibi

Which contract? We will compile these names -the names of these children -and make them PUBLIC for Nigerians to see where our money is going. Which contract? yeye dey smell. Una eye go see wen. Una just start! Which contract? You are talking about contract. what about the major contract your Chief looter-Goodluck Jonathan has with Nigerian people and he defaulted? So which contract? You cannot be serious. We will compile these names and make them PUBLIC. You stole our money and you use that money to send these chldren abroad to study and come back to take over-which contract? Yeye don begin dey smell for body-una dey shake! Ol boy we just start!

          • tsunami1earthquake

That would be interesting! I can’t wait to see that.

          • Arabakpura

They came on the spurs of the moment ‘#bringbackourgirls’ which reverberated all over the world. But Nigerian government will not want disgrace in another form, acted true to style and we have been left to our devises. Where are we now?
The long suffering of those girls will continuously hunt those who should have done something but failed to do so.

          • tsunami1earthquake

All right, I understand; but America would have made sure conditions were ripe for them to come. Not ensuring that was strange, wasn’t it?

          • Arabakpura

How would you show mercy to the children of a woman whose mother has allowed herself to be husbanded by another man. All the ‘Mojo’ is gone.

          • tsunami1earthquake

Sorry, I don’t seem to catch this. Could you say it in another way?

          • Arabakpura

In other words, you don’t let another man do your job as the head of a household . It is quite demeaning!

          • tsunami1earthquake

Now I catch the joke. Yes of course.

          • Arabakpura

Therefore, don’t associate with a man who has failed to defend his family!

          • MrFesh+Ifebuche+Paschal

Omg. You waste reasoning on people like that. You tried sha.

        • Bibi

And America should send home the children of all Nigerian thieves studying in America-right? It is not enough for America to say they will deny visa to looters of Nigerian economy and truncators of Nigerian democracy. America should start denying visas to children of Nigerian govt robbers. And we know them-period. First and foremost those abroad now should be denied their stay and those who want to go afresh should be refused visa-period.

    • Jack

You’re just ranting, america is no1 powerbroker,u daft ijaw people don’t know the world politics, first time you blew it all up. America s disappointment is welcomed and America must help Nigeria to make sure, gej does not stay longer than his tenure

    • Bibi

You know all the children of Nigerian looters under Goodluck Jonathan study in America. So If you are right, then America should repatriate all these children of thieves and govt robbers under Goodluck Jonathan quick quick-And we know them -from Diezani Alison Madueke, to Ngozi Iweala, to all of them looting and stealing under this useless govt. America should send home these children of robbers who are using our money to train their children.

    • Wähala

Stop demonstrate crass knowledge of global politics online, this is not Baba Iyabo writing letters to Dr. Dumbo which you creek creeps took to insulting the messenger, we’re talking real superpower power here. GEJ rubbished all the work that has been carried out by past Nigerian governments in the last 50 years. Within 5 years he messed the economy, within 5 years he corrupted the military, police, intelligence service. No other country Leader out there will like to even be seen dining with the devil. GEJ is a dead president. Nigeria is a laughing stock.

    • Arabakpura

He has also invaded the church of God now!

Dumbo, having finished making enemies in all regions of Nigeria has taken his mental illness abroad by causing more hostilities between Nigeria and her traditional friends. The evil jinx from Otuoke is bent on destroying everything Nigeria has worked 53yrs for, and dismantling a 100yr amalgamation of peoples who have endured hardships to live amicably together. The US feels slighted that having sent a busy John Kerry to emphasize the need to sustain our democratic gains, Dumbo would disrespect the Almighty America by shifting the goal posts for elections. Only a rookie analyst would not see the underlying effects Jega’s blunder, but discerning minds only have to look at Putin and Russia to gauge the consequence of a US applying “the squeeze” on 3rd World Nigeria. The naira shock we’re experiencing today is one “ripple effect” of America’s deliberate choke-hold on Russian rubble because of Putin’s incursions in Ukraine. Any sanctions imposed on prostrate-lying Nigeria will simply put, result in pogrom that would make the Biafran blockage look like kindergarten spiel… all bcos of one man’s bloated ambition. Nigeria is losing the war on terror today because the US refuses to sell armament to us, and are using their influence to block others from selling even 2nd-hand military equipment to Nigeria. Yet, those corrupt PDP goons and Dumbo have put their Party above the faith of 170million others, that’s arrogance Made-in-Hell. My advise: Dumbo-handlers had better keep mute and not mouth-off insults at Obama ati US, that would aggravate an irritated Superpower to the detriment of ordinary Nigerians because bluntly put… The AfriCom is only a short distance away from obliterating that geographical expression called Nigeria. Ende!

    • MrFesh+Ifebuche+Paschal

      US is your international friend?
It’s more unfortunate for someone to insult you and you don’t even realise it. They refused to sell u weapons to do the needful and you without shame count on what they think about what you do. Pity your shameless skull.

      • Wähala

There’s no pity from me to an osu from Anambra like you, your uncles Ekwueme na Ezeife were instrumental in pressuring Jega into his folly. The US listens to all Presidents’ telephone conversations and know darn well your creek psychopath is behind the Boko Haram that’s why they’re blocking arms sales to Nigeria. Only Onitsha Head Brigdge traders like you cannot read the writing on the wall. Stay tuned, this is just the opening salvo, Dumbo and his ignorant goons at the presidency will mistakingly attack Obama and end up in a body bag like Abacha. What do you know about who rules the world? It’s better you take a hard look at toughie communist Putin and you may realize a didinrin like Dumbo will not require much effort to blow away and save the Americans the troubles of cleaning up a messy ripple effects of collapsed Nigeria. Punk, show this response to your Amnesty Camp handlers for interpretation, it’s too deep for your punk-ass to understand. Anu mpam… OSU!

        • Otile

Nigeria must split. The hatred you Yorubas have for us is unbearable. It is shameful that some of you haters come here and lie to us that you are Igbo while we know you are pure Yorubas. I am glad all Yoruba people are not like you.

    • Chris1408

GEJ is a curse on Nigeria. He’s going to make the honorable list of number three Aso Rock body baggers

      • Wähala

He’s an evil jinx… that’s why OBJ was not at the Council of State meeting, Baba Iyabo should be crucified for his role in making Dumbo Jaja. The old fox has to come out and categorically tell Nigerians not to vote for Dumbo, and apologize for selecting him as VP to Yar’Adua… he owes it to us, wallahi!

    • Otile

SORRY, if this is a way to exhibit your inferiority complex before a foreigner, you have only spoken to youself

      • Wähala

Are you superior to Americans? Is Obama a white man? Name one African country totally run by Africans that is not a basket case. The problem with folks like you is you own no mirrors to see the face of your st*pidity. Well, let me tell you the hardest fact: Your life depends on foreigners if you don’t know, know it henceforth! Nigeria’s mono-economy is oil powered and it foreigners to extract, export, buy and remit the proceeds to you. All we Africans do is steal same revenue and give it back to same foreigners to bank for us… see your life now, Mr. Pan Africanist? By the way, why is your name, “John West” ??? Stuuupid Aschloch!

        • John West

@wahala, my friend keep quite and stop disgracing yourself with expression of mental slavery and inferiority complex. i still maintain my stand that the best thing is for we south east and south south to leave the rest of you and have our own state because is only people from this side that believe they can do what an American, British, etc can do. take a look at philip emeagwali, osita onuma, and chuka umunna who has ascend to an enviable height in British politics of which no other black man has gotten to that level before. You were asking me whether obama is a white man, then i asked who was talking about a white man?, i only said foreigners in my previous comments not a white man okay. obama’s performers has a lot to do with his mentality not color okay,SO YOU GOT TO THINK BIG NOW, LOW MIND

          • Wähala

            Go-sitdon!

  • Dankasa

America has already endorsed who they want be the next Nigerian President and are only looking at Jonathan and his small rats like Femi Kayode who always tell him he is; C-in-C and can do whatever he likes. The month of March is around the conner and even if election is postpone five times in Nigeria, Jonathan will lose this year’s election, in fact, all these childish intrigues or can I called them candigati theories are only making him unpopular and rejected in the eyes of millions Nigerians. If PDP likes, let them appoint Femi, Muazu or even De Clark as INEC Chair, non can declare Jona winner of March election. Rigging is not possible, I keep telling this and if they think is possible, they should go ahead!

    • Arabakpura

”Beware of the Ides of March!”

    • John West

@dankasa, you see your life, you are intellectually bankrupt, if America has already endorsed who they want to be the next president it means our vote will not count since they (america) will manipulate to put their own choice candidate. No wonder maybe one of the reasons the election was postponed as it could be that it has been unearthed they they (AMERICA) has already started implementing their evil plan. let me use this opportunity to tell you that Nigerians mainly from southern part of nigeria are also the reason why america is doing well (take a look at Philip emeagwali, osita onuma) even in UK take a look at Chuka umunna who has emerged to an enviable height in uk politics. we have as more inteligent people as they have, we can not worship them and they can not be the final say in Nigeria politics.COME UP WITH MORE COMMENTS man!

  • Ananas_yolawa.

America, what your problem with Nigeria’s election. You send your intelligent soldiers to my country in the pretext of fighting Boko Harram. But you end up gatherings intelligent report about Nigeria. Now that you have plan dirty work during February election and the plan don go solo. We Nigerians should continue to pray for good change in Nigeria.
And for PDPig, as long as their is free and fair election in Nigeria, you are finish. We Nigerians are going to slaughter PDPig come March4Buhari.

    • Bibi

America said she will deny visa to those who truncate Nigerian democracy. But I think America should go beyond that. The children of those who truncate our democracy should be denied visa. And those already in America should be identified wherever they are hiding and be given the marching order back to the country-Nigeria-their parents have destroyed. The children shall be asked to also bear part of their parents’ sin against Nigeria since they have also profited from the looting.

      • the truth

America is not heaven and will never be. There are many civilized country someone can go or take his/her children to and still get the same result like America. Let us stop glorifying America as if the streets are plated with gold. Meanwhile, I think America is up to something sinister in Nigeria and that’s why they’re over looking the security problems we have in 4 states of the federation to push for election. America have not been happy with Nigeria since they were denied building base in Nigeria, America expressed that dislike by not coming to Nigeria when Obama visited some west African countries and few days after that visit, Nigeria in retaliation went to China and signed contracts worth 16billion dollars to Americas astonishment, America have not forgiven Nigeria on this and thirdly, Nigeria signed into law “laws against gay marriages” which America being the country the devil is using to champion that course is still not happy with Nigeria. This is the time all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion should join hand together and shame this secret enemy[America]

        • Bibi

Thank you, you have just agreed that you stole our money. Rather than use that money to build schools here, you are stolen money to send children of criminal politicians, ministers etc to America, China, UK, France etc. That is what you have just said. And I thank you for that.

        • mc

Thank you brother, you deserve an award, quite on point, don’t mind others talking about JONATHAN and BUHARI as if without two of them Nigeria cannot go forward, when we have tasted the two of them and they have nothing tangible to offer .

      • Major General OPC

what an idiotic thinking.. shut your filthy mouth up..

      • Hassan Lawal

….very good point! They should be hit where it’ll pain the most.Their priced assets, which is their children, tucked away somewhere in US,UK and other better climes, must equally be made to feel the pang created by their parents. Those countries should deport them back home….,I agree in totality!

  • Ananas_yolawa.

Every Nigeria should MARCH4BUHARI for Good Change in these Country.

  • Olu Ade

Jona and his cabal are trying to destroy the last standing national structures- military and INEC. If elections could be held in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan that are epitome of terrorism, Nigerians can read the intentions of the jittery cabal. The ides of March will surely catch up with this Dundee and Clueless man running Nigeria down. Jona needs to know that 6weeks can not suppress the wind of change.

  • chukwu smart

All dis anti- Jonathan ranting their mouth any how, pls if u e-rats has nothing meaningful to say while not keep ur rotten mouths quite and watch GEJ defeat Buhari massively come march 28th 2015, GEJ all d way.

    • Bibi

America please start repatriating the children of the destroyers of Nigeria- Edwin Clark, Doyin Okupe, Jonathan, Doezani Madueke, Nkonjo Iweala, Sambo Dasuki, Femi Okuronmu, Ezeife, Falae, -deport their children just as yo deny their parents visa.

      • John West

@BIBI, you did not include children of obasanjo

    • Abdul

Jonadumb is already dodging election, he is so afraid of Buhari now.

      Look how confused they are.

    • Arabakpura

I can easily tell that you also have grammar problems like GEJ. Why don’t you just keep quiet rather than make it obvious

      • John West

@arabakpura, stop all these bullshit about knowing English and not knowing English. write a comment with up to 500 words then i will show you couple of mistakes their, or sit for toefl i bet you can never score up to 120. JUST KEEP QUITE, NO BODY KNOWS IT ALL WHEN IT COMES TO LANGUAGES

    • Maitama Tambari

Chukwu, you see how shallow you are because of low level of education and IQ. You have not added value to the discourse but resulted to abuses. CHANGE! YES WE CAN.

  • djay

I ask ,Nigerians should be patient. We have waited for 4yrs so 6 wks is not far infact it will come faster than we think. They say every disappointment is a blessing as this can not only encourage undecided voters to support CHANGE it also exposes what Gej and pdp truly stands for. The world is watching as May 29 is sacrosanct.

    • Arabakpura

He has scored another first in mis-achievement!

  • Thepeople

The will of the people for change is sacrosant. It can only be postponed but it will come. CHANGE MUST COME TO NIGERIA.

  • Uzoma John

This evil postponement will enable Nigerians to know who GEJ is- how evil and manipulative his ways are. If what the military has just done was in clear sincerity of purpose, why not isolate the 3 affected States in North East while election holds in other parts of Nigeria (then send all the security agencies in Nigeria to the North East to secure the elections there on the day they decide to hold it)? Why is it that the commencement of their so called operation coincides with February 14 date fixed for election? Was there no BH when elections held in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun? There was also local govt elections last year in Borno and Kano States. Election to replace Adamawa State Governor has already been scheduled before the court upheld that Ngilari, the Deputy Governor was wrongly removed. Is Adamawa not in the North East. Did Jonathan not campaign in all these North Eastern States last week? Defeat is obvious, the only reason for shifting the election. We are watching and waiting.

    • Major General OPC

so shameful that such people like u will open there filthy mouth to support the US opinion towards the Nigerian governmental polices. you should really shut those your disgusting mouth close for talking such shits about GEJ supporting BH. The bible even said it that my people perish cos they lack knowledge which i can really see in u. The US that are showing there concerning of the election postponement are those sponsoring BH, if u don’t know u should. Dont just come out from nowhere and start talking some disgusting and idiotic things online. First think before u comment.

      • Uzoma John

Block head. All of you supporting Jona, no doubt, reason like him. All you know is how to insult people without making any sensible contribution. If America is sponsoring BH, what is your incompetent Jona and his pot-bellied Generals doing? Aiding and abetting BH. You see, that’s why I’ve always said some of you require re-orientation because the mediocrity GEJ has subjected you guys to, require total brain and thinking faculty overhaul. Just read you comment and see if you’ve made any sense. Devil’s advocate

        • John West

@uzoma john,if jonathan is now an advocate of mediocrity i don’t know what buhari will be without or with a fake certificate and you still call him a candidate.
An advocate of mediocrity can’t be establishing almajari schools, and how many did buhari establish during his time, if we are bent on change it should not be buhari whose regime did not transform nigeria in anyway but only always remembered for abysmal brutality and deprivation of freedom of speech.

When evil people scheme their evil ways, they forget there is God. My fellow Nigerians, this so called evil postponement by jonathan, pdp and the buffon military is a big referendum on them. The military and jonathan said they need six weeks to wipe out Bh, but I can assure my fellow Nigerians that this is when Bh will step up their attacks and at the end of the day, jonathan, pdp and the irresponsible military will be the losers because they can never defeat bh within six weeks. As a matter of fact, by taking this evil action, it will draw more sympathetic votes to APC and GMB. The next Plan B is for the evil jonathan and pdp to use the corrupt judge niyi ademola to disqualify GMB, then let it go all the way to the Supreme Court, then jonathan and pdp will say since the case is still in court, the election will not hold. This is another repeat of 1993 but this time around, all their evil plans will fail. jonathan and pdp cannot force themselves on Nigerians anymore. No matter what, whenever we hold the election, GMB and APC will WIN IN A BIG WAY. THE MILITARY SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY WILL SOON HAVE A NEW C-IN-C AND IF THEY CONTINUE MEDDLING IN NIGERIAN POLITICS, THE PRISONS ARE WAITING FOR ALL OF THEM. NO WONDER FOR FIVE YEARS THE MILITARY CAAN’T DEFEAT BH COS OF POLITICAL CONSIDERATION, CORRUPTION AND TOTAL INEFFICIENCY OF THE MMILITARY TOP BRASS.

    • John West

if you have confirmed that buhari has won already, why are we waiting for election, after all APC have broom as their ak 47, let them arm buhari with that and let him march forward to aso rock tomorrow and sweep out the presidency and install his own. it is a very painful dream to use rolls royce in the dream only for you to wake up and find out that you are yet to make up money for a bicycle. VERY STUUPID TALK BY US
    ===================
The US govt shud shup up its dirty and stinky mouth for daring to speak now. Who cares about their opinion anyway? While the Karate Black Belt – Putin is turning US inside out, it roars at Nigeria out of frustration. When over 2,000 were killed at Baga, the US looked to France where 17 had been shot dead…Nigeria asked for Corrbra Helipcopters to fight terrorists and US said no…instead it sent 3 warships ostensibly to protect its oil companies and investments in the Niger Delta…What form of diplomacy is that? Methinks, without any doubts whatsoever, that the US govt must be very STUUUUPID to take over 200m Nigerians for a ride…and John with his over grown nose had the effrontery to threaten our politicians with non visa issuance should they turn violent. We don’t blame them…we blame our past leaders who were so daft that one of them on getting to the White house in 2010, declared, “This is the happiest moment of my life”. Imagine! Yes…True, a former sitting president made that statement in US…Why then will John De Big Nose not come threaten Nigerians with Visa? Nonsense!

This is why we need break up and we can have our Niger Delta and have our respect in the committee of Nations and not have these folks who kill blacks with reckless abandon come and tell us rubbish.

America have been tolerating GEJ atrocities in Nigeria for long, but now it has reach a point they can no longer tolerate it, GEJ thought he can manipulate the electoral process using BH, and the blood of North east people, but ended up exposing his evils and attracting more hatred within and outside the country. America have stated categorically to GEJ and his politicized pot belly Generals who smiled to the bank with millions of dollars to the do this dirty job, that they are now put under watch Dog of the international community, further postponement beyond the newly schedule dates is unacceptable and they would be made to face consequences.

You are using a few isolated incident to judge American when majority of Nigerian are thriving in an alarming rates on USA soil. Something many of the Nigerian masses cannot boast of.

I left Nigeria as a teenage girl and living a very successful life, without having to cut any corners, in comparison to my mates in Nigeria. In the city of my residence alone, there are many Nigerian born and trained doctors, my husband being one of them, who have majority “say” in the health care sectors. They are highly respected in their respective field of expertise. Each with his/her own health care center. NOW, HOW MANY OF THEIR COUNTERPARTS LIVING IN NIGERIA CAN BOAST OF SUCH SUCCESS, COMFORT AND SECURITY?

AMERICA IS MUCH OF A LAND OF OPPORTUNITY TO MANY OF US THAT ARE NIGERIANS THAN NIGERIA WILL EVER BE, and this is only due to self-centered people like you and a blood thirsty government.

      • hard truth

You need deliverance from illusion. Can you ever enjoyed the liberty you have in Nigeria in your wonderland? Are you as a black not being treated like second class citizen? Travon Martins case is still fresh and many after that. Your impartial ruled afterwards that police have treated you blacks fairly. Is that the truth.

        • Koffa0319

In case you missed it in my above write up, I left Nigeria as a teenager, meaning everything I have achieved is through the opportunities given to me by the USA and God’s grace. Something many of my 9ja mates living on their mother’s soil called Nigeria cannot say about her. Thanks to the bastard children in Nigeria! awon omo atoko wa Dale ru; ako tile ta; apa, arugun omo ale gbogbo.

Moreover, I own houses in Nigeria as well as the USA and visit Nigeria on a yearly basis, many times twice a year for weeks at a time. Having lived in both part of the world, I know which of the two countries (NIGERIA & USA) has afforded me liberties in terms of life’s great opportunities, securities, advancement, comfortable/peaceful living, good health care etc., and NIGERIA IS NOT IT.

Even among the tribes of Nigeria, there is constant unwillingness to accommodate one another in the individual’s so-called region and YOU ARE UP HEAR CALLING AMERICAN RACIST.

Our hope and prayers is for the Almighty God to rescue Nigeria from the demon and its agents that have plagued her soil, just so that many of us can finally return to serve the masses; but it’s quite obvious that you, the affected ones, don’t give a damn about your own life and ones of your future generations.

My children are safe and secure by God’s grace outside of Nigeria, meaning I am not up here fighting for them. It’s simply for the love of my beloved birth country and the people. NOTHING ELSE!

Like I have said, won fe gba omo ediye yin lowo iku, eni won jeke re akitan lo jeun to ma payin.

WHY NIGERIA MUST NOT BREAK!!! WHY NIGERIA MUST BOIL NOW!!!
Nigerians! Nigerians!! Nigerians!!! The time for war is finally here. The elites have fired the first shots of war.
The long suffering long oppressed Nigerian electorate must fire back, viciously! This is not a war to be fought with violence because the elites have calculated their options and are prepared to waste precious Nigerian lives to sustain their grip on the jugular of Nigeria. When AIG Mbu and other military commanders were redeployed recently, it was to prepare the ground for the unleashing of governmental instruments of violence on unarmed Nigerian masses. The elites have already calculated and prepared for these unfolding events. So Nigerians, this is a war that must be fought by slow, protracted and sustained strangulation of the elites by overwhelming massive indefinite sit at home strikes by govt workers, internal insurrection within the security agencies by patriotic soldiers, policemen and security agents, coordinated massive demonstrations at ALL Nigeria’s embassies abroad, unrelenting mass media excoriation and condemnation of the elites and so forth. Nigerians hear me well. The problem of Nigeria is CORRUPT ELITES!!! The problem of Nigeria is neither regionalism, ethnic separatism nor religious separatism. The problem of Nigeria is the problem of class war being waged by corrupt elite class against the Nigerian masses using Boko Haram, ethnic, religious, lying propaganda, blackmail, bribery and violence weapons. The political, economic, religious and military elites in the North, South, East and West of Nigeria are only interested in the perpetuation of the class status quo that oppresses and plunders the common man in the North, South, East and West of Nigeria and they are deploying lies, smear campaigns, Boko Haram, regionalism and ethnic fears to divide and confuse the masses. Postponing the elections is merely a prelude to a far more sinister and far reaching plot to perpetuate themselves in power. Nigerians must resist the temptation to clamor for breaking up Nigeria into splinter units. It is not the panacea. For example, let us look at states creation. State government structures are a microcosm of regionalism. In short, state government structures are regional governments on a smaller scale. States creation represents Nigeria’s recurrent attempt at catering to ethnic self determination within the federal complex. But this has not solved Nigeria’s problems. Rather it has only exacerbated it by creating new classes of plundering, looting oppressive elites in those created states. Same failures obtains in carved out local governments. The institution of local govts is supposed to bring national resources and government even closer to the grassroots to cater to the common man’s social development needs. But what has emerged in the Nigerian case is that new elites have merely emerged within all those localized government structures to plunder and oppress the common man even the more. This shows that breaking up Nigeria into South-South, South-East and so forth will not address the fundamental question plaguing the Nigerian entity. The fundamental problem tormenting the Nigerian nation is the allocation of resources between the competing needs and interests of the elites vis a vis the interests and needs of the masses. The common man wants the wealth of Nigeria to be evenly distributed among all Nigerians. The elites of Nigeria want the wealth of Nigeria to be exclusively shared only among the elites. The solution? Get rid of the corrupt elites. Stamp out corruption and misappropriation of public resources. Then deploy the wealth of Nigeria towards the betterment of the ordinary Nigerian. Nigeria’s problem will be solved! Nigerians every where in the North, South, East and West are loving, peaceful, hardworking people. Solve their common problems of poverty, unemployment, infrastructure development, power and water supply, good roads, housing, healthcare, security, education and civil rights and there will no longer be need to resort to regional or ethnic agitations. The United States govt knew what the evil Nigerian elites were up to all along. That was why President Obama dispatched Secretary Kerry on short notice to Nigeria a few weeks ago. The United States itself is the world’s largest and most diverse federal system democracy. Yet the federal structure functions so well it has made the US the world’s strongest and wealthiest nation in the world because the tenets of transparency, accountability, rule of law, fairness and equity are rigorously upheld! These tenets are what Nigeria is sorely lacking. Sectarian sentiments arise when corruption, inequality and lopsidedness at the central level characterize the allocation of resources, rights and opportunities among the nation’s component units and peoples. Once equity is deployed in solving the common problems common to all Nigerians in all regions, Nigeria’s problem is solved. Nigeria will thrive. Nigeria’s collective strength is better than her fractured strength. Nigeria is better together and stronger together as a unified entity, properly led and dynamically ruled by an altruistic minded champion of the common man. Not misled and mis-ruled by a clueless, corrupt, treacherous and callous simpleton who does not give a damn about the common Nigerian masses and had the temerity to bluntly tell them so to their faces! What an insult! Goodluck Johnathan is an insanely evil, devious, dangerous and ruthless snake. Nigerians better wake up and realize they are dealing with a smiling despot, dubious devil, calculating criminal and bloodthirsty ba*stard!
Thus this should be the collective message of ordinary Nigerians to the ruling cabal……”Listen up you parasitic elites, you constitute only 1% of the total population. But you have held us 169 million Nigerians in bondage and squalor for too long. Your time is up. You can no longer succeed in manipulating, confusing and dividing us masses with your lies, divisiveness and distractions of inane, inconsequential and irrelevant issues of paper qualification, religious sentiments and ethnic divisiveness. Be wise while you have the chance to peacefully exit the corridors of power to go enjoy the stupendous wealth you have stolen from us the oppressed common Nigerians. Nigeria and we Nigerians can and will heal from the horrific wounds you have inflicted on us if you exit and a champion of the common Nigerian takes office. He will stamp out corruption. The elections must not be postponed, aborted nor cancelled. The elections must hold and the will of the common Nigerian must prevail. But you elites must exit or be consumed by the wrath of the masses.
A word is enough for the wise”

@brandon Landry, yesterday i was sitting with a man who survived the riot that erupted when renhered bonnke a german preacher came and preached in kano in 1992, he had to flee kano and till today he vowed not to visit there again and his concept about hausas is that they are more than the wicked.THE question is, WAS IT THE RICH ELITES IN THE NORTH THAT TOLD THEM TO GO ON RAMPAGE KILLING INNOCENT CHRISTIANS JUST BECAUSE A MAN OF GOD WAS PREACHING?, and remember that was during military regime of babangida, THE question again is, WHO WERE THE POLITICIANS/ELITES THEN THAT DIVIDED US MAINLY ALONG RELIQIUS LINE KNOWING FULLY WELL THAT NO BODY CAN EVER DARE TO CONTEST WITH A MILITARY HEAD OF STATE ON ANY DECISION.
my dear stop wasting your precious time writing a very long story, there is hate every where in Nigeria but we are only forcing ourselves together mainly because of oil. No body shown love will afford to reject it, and the way things are in Nigeria we can not afford to stay together any longer unless we want to be sorry for our future or generation unborn

Those Churches he has been visiting frequently needs Spiritual cleansing against Bad luck as it visited Late Yar adua.
Nigerians has to pray & be vigilant that his bad luck will not touch the Foundation & Unity of Nigeria As you are all witnesses to more than 21 LGAs has already been taken away from him by BH despite he sworn in 2011 to protect the Territorial Integrity, Live and properties of Nigerians.

There can be no “free and fair” elections if the INEC has yet to distribute voters cards to more than 30% of registered voters and they cannot effectively participate in the elections. The Americans must realise that no election worker or observer can operate in the NE in it’s present state, the security agencies know very well that the region is not safe and rightly communicated these concerns to INEC.

Last but not the least, the USA refused to supply us hardware needed to fight terror, they supplied the same equipment to the tyrant in Egypt whose army killed more than a thousand unarmed protesters in Egypt. The US should stop taking sides in our internal politics,it is now clear from the actions of the US that they are taking sides with the opposition and that disposition has led to armed conflicts in many countries of the world. Saudi Arabia is just not democratic nor does that country give a toss about human rights yet they are best friends to the US. The double standards and the bully tactics on Nigeria will set off an inferno which will be regrettable indeed because we have managed no matter how imperfect our democracy may be to pilot our affairs in the past.

Nigeria is a very dangerous place to play geo-politics or imperialism because the whole west African sub-region will collapse should any armed conflict take place, better let the sleeping dog lie !!

        • Arabakpura

Common! Don’t be too hard he just misunderstood you thinking that you meant 30% has been distributed. But, let’s even try to find out the percentage that has been previously registered and what percent voted etc. This game is becoming interesting and I am quite sure Nigerians will be the real beneficiaries in the end

          • John West

@ARABAKPURA, if bla need an eyes glass to read he would have used one and would have seen clearly that TAWANDA meant that 35% of the cards are yet to be issued, he would not have resorted to telling him short up

    • SAM .A

Why are u always pouring out the garbage in you on this medium and u think everybody read & take the trash.u claimed to have knowledge of international politics, which is deficient & full of fallacy.
Your drum of war will not materialize, if anything , the North and the West will flush out you war mongrels/ war mongers in SS , as an alternative to allow Nigeria to explode. How old are you in 1967when the civil war broke out.
Ask people for their experience on both side. There will be no more war , the war mongers will be given Abacha treatment .

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Treats of genocide or pogroms from a nonentity will not suppress the legitimate democratic aspirations of any part of Nigeria. You should first destroy the BH insurgents who operate in the open savannah beforeopening up another front in the swampy dense forests of the delta. You just wrote the “North and West” so you are the one drawing the battle lines with drumbeats of war not me,and for you information this is 2015 not 1967,the dynamics are not nearly the same..

Your cynical rebuttals often lacks substance, you did not cancel out one iota of fact contained in my comment nor is their any logic behind your childish tantrums !!

  • warry

To give us weapons to fight terrorists, they said no deal, according to them it is better for Boko Haram to continue killing than to give our security weapons to prevent them from killing.
Now some of our countrymen will be disenfranchised, and we decided to move our elections forward, they cry blue murder.we are no fools

    • e_orpheus

Put yourself in their shoes warry.
Shekau after annexing Baga displayed the arsenal of the fleeing Nigerian army, assault rifles, ammunition, tank and rocket shells, the lot of which had now become theirs.
Friday there was an audio recording about one Gen. Momoh being the military muscle employed by unsavory elements to enforce their will in Ekiti state.
These are more recent; go through the news archives and see the rot that exists in the Nigerian army.
How do you, armed with such information about someone you’re about to do business with, proceed with the deal?
They owe us absolutely nothing, save perhaps a moral obligation to be their brother’s keeper. But how do you deal with that when this brother is cavorting with the enemy?
How does one explain that INEC had 365 days x4 (x3 at least) to verify, print and distribute cards to Nigerians and couldn’t? If the concern was only disenfranchisement, there wouldn’t be the current reactions that are trailing the postponement.
From me, a Nigerian and internal observer, it is annoyingly frustrating. How would it appear to an external observer?

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are right to state that they owe us nothing hence they declined tangible help in our hour of need…BUT one wonders why they intrude in our local politics. They wrecked Syria,Iraq,Lybia,Yemen and Ukraine by taking sides in the internal politics of those countries. They also look the other way when worse atrocities are taking place in Egypt,Saudi Arabia and other parts of the middle East.It is time for Nigerians to put their peace and national interests before the geo-political interests of any world power because when young men enter the bushes with AK47,we will be the ones ducking and suffering not Kerry or Obama.

IN THE INTEREST OF PEACE,THEY MUST LEARN TO ALLOW US HANDLE OUR ISSUES !

        • e_orpheus

“You are right to state that they owe us nothing hence they declined tangible help in our hour of need”.

That’s not what I said. They declined us help because they had evidence to strongly suggest that their help (intelligence, weapons etc.) could very well end up in the hands of Boko Haram.
They’ve been in this business for over a hundred years (democracy etc.). They have enough experience to know that if you go down a certain road, destruction awaits. If they refuse to help out in one way but still go ahead to give counsel or advice in another, I don’t see anything wrong in that. If I know my younger brother fritters away his money on booze and women (no veiled reference intended), I won’t continue to dole out money to him. Nonetheless I would still provide counsel and help in other ways. That’s what the US is doing.
Not that we swallow whatever they advise wholesale, but to ask them to turn their backs and leave us to our devices, especially at this point in our existence, is simply childish petulance.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are a huge joke !! The much brandished experience in the exportation of democracy has led to the practical destruction of Iraq,Syria,Lybia,East Ukraine,Yemen etc whilst propping up the worst dictatorships in Saudi Arabia,Egypt, gulf states and elsewhere.

Democracy is a product of free-will,it cannot be forced upon a people. Nigerians have chosen the path of democracy but we also need the time to nurture, develop and customise own democracy because we do not have the same historical background, ethnic or religious circumstances with the USA or any western democracy.Further intrusions into our internal politics will polarise our already fractured make-up. The cosmetic amalgamation of 1914 is still not behind us,we have fought a genocidal civil war,we have had pogroms and massacres so these powers need to thread with caution !

          • e_orpheus

No doubt we have peculiarities that compel us to look inwards and be very creative in fashioning out solutions to some of our challenges with most things, including governance.
But if we had it all figured out and could go it all on our own, we wouldn’t be in the situation we find ourselves today.
Some have charted this path before, have made mistakes, recovered and moved forward. We are in the process of charting our own way, have been making mistakes, and so far don’t show any sign that we’re beginning to get it right.
Regardless of our ‘background, ethnic or religious circumstances’, JFK mentioned “we all share this same basic common language: We all inhabit this same planet, we all breathe in the same air, we all cherish our children’s future and were are all mortal”. In other words, we all have the same basic needs.
The same pain the US expresses over us could have been expressed by Russia, China, Kenya or India. The message is the same.. Be wary this path you tread, all who have gone this way paid dearly for it. That is in no way an intrusion.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Do I sense a threat from your last sentence or even blackmail ? Well the truth is that the USA fought a bloody civil war, they made mistakes, the same for the UK ,Germany and other democracies of the west. They should allow us to fashion out our democracy to suit our own requirements.
They must not take sides, they must stand as neutral “friends” to all political camps !

          • e_orpheus

It is not a threat. They are only offering sound advice based on experience.
What side have they taken? Where did you get that impression of them taking sides?
Senator Kerry was quoted a couple of times in that article but not once was there anything to suggest the US was setting up camp with one candidate or party.

The US will be the happiest country in planet earth if Nigeria go down as they predicted some few years ago !the backing they gave to free Siria and now ISIS is enough for her to cover her face in shame and in Libya when Gadafi was yelling these people that invaded Libya were aquaida they US with all their intelligence didn”t know it untill three years later and in Iraq they said they were invading it because their intelligence found weapons of mass murder while Bush was on a revenge mission to kill the man who defeated his father Bush sr in Iraq /Kuwait war?
To keep the story short US should mind their bussiness when we needed then for the Ebola vacine they turned us down bluntly and also for the weapon to defeat boko haram same now that we have the arsenals without their imput they are ofcourse not happy and will want to see us fail GEJ carry go after your electoral victory they will all come begging as usual through their so called diplomatic missions then we will also make them to understand that we can do things in our term with them and not their term all the time.

  • Guguru

USA needs to begin to prepare the set of sanctions that they will impose on Nigeria either immediately or in the next 6 weeks. If they do not help Nigerians, Nigerians will not help themselves because they are the most selfish and indifferent people in the world who refuse to see how their selfish actions drains their nation of its much needed progress. The USA is here to help Nigerians since they cannot help themselves. If Nigeria could help themselves then how come they have not helped themselves to more electricity like other nations are doing? Why stick with 4000 MW of electricity as the biggest economy in Africa, while smaller economies like South Africa are able to produce over 40,000 MW of electricity?

    • umolu

Nigeria is not as vulnerable to sanctions as you may think .Already the people have their back to the wall. They were threatened many times before;like refusing to be all gay;like not going to buy our oil because we refused to buy their wheat since we could produce it in Nigeria and now what the US can refuse do for us if we don’t conduct a creadable election etc.

      • Guguru

        umolu,

You have no idea how vulnerable Nigeria is. Nigeria’s foreign currency reserve can be depleted in three months. The value of the naira has been falling for the last three months. When that happens, it will depend on loans to survive. Already, Nigeria is going on a borrowing binge to meet its budget obligations. With sanctions, this will become increasingly difficult. Even China will be unwilling to loan money to Nigeria without some tough criteria. So, Nigeria is very much vulnerable to sanctions or any sort of external shock to its economic system.

    • Change for the Worse

The US currently buys zero oil from Nigeria, so to hell with US sanctions. If Nigeria had been that important to the US, the US would have joined in bombing Boko Haram bases as it is currently bombing Islamist terrorist groups in Somalia, Iraq and Syria. After all, the US is near a state of war with Syria’s leaders yet it is shelling ISIS in Syria.

      • Guguru

        Change,

You are so clueless about the world you live in. India is now the highest buyer of Nigeria’s oil and India is a strong ally of the US. The US sells high tech military equipment to India. The US can convince India to start buying shale oil instead of oil from Nigeria. You are so behind the curve on how the world works. This is a global world and mono-economies like Nigeria have a lot more to lose when sanctions are placed on them. If you doubt me, then take a good look at Russia which is a regional power with a mono-economy as well. Sanctions have caused Russia to bleed foreign currency reserves, high inflation, and depreciation of the ruble. Unless you are suggesting that Nigeria is stronger than Russia, you whole thesis is pure nonsense.

It is very unfortunate the government is making INEC to use the Security in the North East as the reason for the postponement. It is a pity we can not be sure that come March 28 the security situation will be different. It is a pity. The military has been at this not only 6 weeks. The Chibok girls are now nearly one year in Boko Haram captivity. Six weeks will soon be here and then. PDP has not perfected rigging methods.

    • Suleiman Dikko

it’s unfortunate here, it’s unfortunate there…. they’ve asked for 6 weeks. let’s give them the time. if nothing changes, then we would know that they actually scammed us. it’s just disheartening that the first thing that comes to mind before even the supposed idea of safety is that PDP wants to use the opportunity to rig.

INEC Manipulating PVCs to Favour Buhari, – Balarabe Musa.

A political interest organization, Credible Alternative Alliance (CAA) led by former Kaduna state Governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is tilting the distribution of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to favour areas believed to be strongholds of All Progressives Congress’ candidate, General Muhammed Buhari.

The group presented a statistical analysis of the distribution of PVCs which showed the number of registered voters yet to collect their PVCs in various zones.

    According to CAA, South-East has (3,287, 530) , South West (7,411,205), South-South (3,844,370) , North-East (2,429,763), North West (4,835,556), North Central (3,907,849) and FCT(421,559).

On the distribution of PVCs, CAA said it has observed “a criminal gross disparity of voter spread designed to tilt the election to a pre-determined outcome.

The group insists that all the 68.8 million registered voters must be given unfettered access to freely collect their PVCs and cast their vote as provided for in the constitution, adding that it would be forced to take INEC to court if that condition was not met.

“Let us call a spade, a spade. There are two main contenders for the Presidency in this election. The analyzed data above depicts a worrying trend. Voters in the zones that tend to support President Goodluck Jonathan are massively disenfranchised by the application of the so-called PVCs debacle, 40% to 50% of voters in the these regions who are lawfully and duly registered to vote will be denied their right to vote by INEC.
“That is nearly half of the support base of the President, simply nullified by administrative (failure) prior to the election. By comparison, the zones that tend to support Buhari are handed a massive voter advantage, nearly 80% of his support base will be allowed to cast their votes by INEC.

In an election, which many say will be won or lost by a slim margin, to now disenfranchise 26million voters through a questionable and unlawful rule by INEC is not acceptable by any measure.

” CAA condemns in its entirety. This attempt by INEC to undermine our nescient democracy through this criminal enterprise to determine the outcome of this electioneer before the ballot is cast.

While speaking on the controversy raging over the coming election, Balarabe Musa said there is no way INEC can be able to distribute the outstanding PVCs within the remaining two weeks.

“INEC cannot meet up with the issuance voters card to all registered voters, even the PVCs is not being realistic because of the past failures in the past. For example, INEC is talking about distributing permanent voters cards. Let us assume that sufficient PVCs have been produced the commission, how is the PVC is still being distributed.

” We have credible information that in some places in the rural areas, INEC staff take the PVCs for distribution and because of the disappointments of the past refuse to come out for collection of PVC. The commission staff then leave the PVCs to community leaders to distribute. I believe that should not be the responsibility of the village heads to do that but INEC.

“Again, how can we realistically expect INEC to make PVCs available to every registered voter within two weeks, something they failed to do in many years.

If Jega had not postponed the election, the same people condemning his action would cry out dat they were disenfranchised from voting during the election. Election was postponed for the good of Nigerians and it is rated as a step for PDP to rig the election. Na wa for this APC supporters ooo! #GEJ4Naija #NO2Buhari

Everything you said does not make any sense at all.

  • Tanko Awul

The USA statement on postponement of the election is more of an observation than a condemination. Nigerians that are reactiong to this change should ask themselves what USA would have done if their is an impending danger on her citizens during election. Their response wont be far from what INEC has done in NIgeria. Besides, USA has no or little say in Nigeria democracy. It must be stated that INEC has not acted unconstitutional.#GEJ4NAIJA

  • Aisha Mammud

The USA should concern herself with what happens in her own country, and leave us to control our own things the way we think is best for us. Obama even dey against Jonathan! #NO2Buhari #GEJ4Naija

PS: it is constitutional to postpone the elections on ground of security. #GEJ4Naija

  • Aisha Mammud

The USA are no strangers to delving into the affairs of nations. i wil like to state exclusively that we do not care whether the USA are in support of us postponing the elections or not. when we passd the bill against Gay acts, USA was all up in our business, threatening one sanction or the other. when we sort out their help to help us battle BH, what was d outcome? the sent a “Specail Unit” to help us do nothing exactly: units that were sent because we had to give out some of our oil to them. the same USA that claimed to want to help us fight BH denied us use / purchase of specialized weapons to end the insurgency. now its time to vote and they’ve come all up in our faces to tell us how disappointed they are? like some big Uncle or Daddy. they can go eat dust. their opinions mean little to us right now, we’ve being handling things by ourselves for a while now. and we can manage. thank u very much……………….. #GEJ4Naija

    • Guguru

Very lousy statement. Do you use the US dollar or not in Nigeria? By using the US dollar, are you not the one inviting the US into your business? Do you see how lousy your thoughts are?

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Oh !! The US dollar is the currency used to as a yardstick in world trade ? are you so under-informed or just mal-educated ? The USD is in that sense a world currency till maybe China decides to trade in their currency alone but that may not happen soon !!

        • Guguru

          Tawanda,

Are you back from the zoo? Your teacher told me you struggle with education. Well, for your information, the US dfollar remains the currency and property of the United States of America, whether or not the world chooses to use it as a global currency. So, i am not sure what you are arguing about. Do you mind barking up another tree, thing? LOL

  • Wise Head

The US should keep quiet. Nigeria is for Nigeria, the US is for Americans. We know what is good for us. There is a state of emergency in Nigeria caused by those seeking to use the terror to gain political power and people are being slaughtered in droves by savages almost daily. They should be dealt with first. We need peace first. Then after that we can vote. Outsiders weeping more than the bereaved.

    • Guguru

Then, solve your Nigerian problem and stop making excuses. Why bother us with your rants when you can simply stop the violence and death and despondency in Nigeria? So, why are you complaining about another entity with the heart, mind and ability to help you, if not for the ignorance and pride of Nigerians?

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

“Why bother us” who is “us” ?

        • Guguru

“Us” is whoever your mind decides it should be. By the way, did Reno Omokri place you on vacation or suspension for the last few days? You have been quiet. I guess you are now back to continue your task of misinformation and misleading others.

      • Wise Head

Your problem is inferiority complex. In the US, violent acts take place virtually everyday. People shoot others almost every other hour and violent robbery is a daily experience. Has the US been able to stop this? Have they solved all their problems? One day, the US will dictate to you what to have for breakfast. Because of your complex. What a pity.

        • Guguru

Your problem is willful ignorance capped with a hint of denial. The USA has the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms, which all but guarantees the violence you talk about.

  • Change for the Worse

While Mr Kerry is on the phone to Nigeria, can he finally ask Mr Bokohari if he is sitting for NECO and/or SSCE next year? With his “certipicate” ever elusive, that clarification would help ensure a freer, peaceful election than anything else.

    • IS.JESUS.CHRIST.A.CHRISTIAN

      OBAMA ANSWERED YOU.

    • IbrahimM

Well, regardless of what Kerry and the U.S. think, Jonathan must know within his conscience that this move is terribly wrong, that’s if at all he has any conscience. There is no doubt that the U.S. wanted to see Jonathan fail and leave Aso Rock in ignominy due to the culture of corruption in his government, but I have no problem with that. What Jona doesn’t know is that even if Boko Haram leader Shekau is killed before the new election day that will not change the perception of most Nigerians of him, which implies he will still lose the election. It safer for him to leave Aso Rock by election, rather than by military coup. If by election he may be able to go into exile with his stolen billions, but if at gun point, well they can place a few of his dollars beside his body in his coffin, just in case he needs to buy some snacks in the spirit world.

      • Ray Effiom

Was it not this same USA that refused to sell guns to Nigeria to fight Boko Haram and blocked us where ever we tried to get arms. U SA is treating Nigeria like Russia placing sanctions on Nigeria militarily and otherwise

  • IS.JESUS.CHRIST.A.CHRISTIAN

    OBAMA LAUGHING JONATHAN GOODLOCK!

  • evi

The US is only protecting their interest because Jonathan has tightened regulation on companies like shell, they are now held accountable and made to pay adequate compensation for exploitation of our crude and the environmental hazards that they wreck on the niger delta, something they had been getting away with for decades. Jonathan stopped them from causing havoc in the niger delta without appropriate compensation and they are not happy about it. They don’t care that million of voters from the south has been disenfranchised and that Jega has compromised. He in collaboration with apc, planned to disenfranchise voters from the south and pdp stronghold and also reduce the voting strength in these areas to clear a path for apc to win the election. How do yu explain the fact that the states in the core north have recorded 80% pvc collection while the southern states have barely 30% pvc collection rate? Their are even stories of how children, chadians and nigeriens have collected pvc in the north but eligible voters in the south are still struggling to collect pvc?

    • Critical

My friend the US no longer buys or needs oil from Nigeria. They now have their own shale oil. Do you know that Shell is selling off all its oil wells in Nigeria? Shell is gradually trying to pull off from Nigeria as they have started oil exploration in the US. You are simply being biased here. Let the USA sanction all those that attempt to rig and subvert the will of the people.

      • evi

The US stopped buying our oil because it is no longer business as usual for the them, they cannot continue plundering our crude, causing havoc on land, sea and air without paying the price unlike before, shell left because Jonathan forced them to be more accountable and more responsible. US may produce and export oil but they are the second importer of oil,China only recently took the first position from them,so if they have an opportunity to come back and continue oil exploration without bothering about paying proper compensation, they will return and they feel they can achieve this under Buhari’s administration

        • Tope

Stop deceiving yourself, the demand for oil has declined because of shale production all around the world and advent of electric cars. Soon, oil prices will fall to $35 from $150. You are in total darkness in Nigeria but you don’t really know. Your future has been mortgaged by the corrupt governments.

          • evi

You have already mortgaged your future by supporting an illiterate result forger quota system general , shale oil or not, falling oil price or not, america is still the second highest importer of fuel, did they not have shale oil before they invaded iraq, under the guise of weapons of mass destruction but were really after iraq’s oil? America still needs oil anywhere it can get it.

          • Tope

The time that you Nigerians use to plan evil, to rig election process and the time that you use to plan how to embezzle money that belong to all Nigeria should be devoted to plan good things that will of national benefits. You have oil but you depend of sHELL to dig it out for you, foreign countries bought the oil, you cannot even use the money for any development, instead, all the money got stolen and squandered. What sort of human being are you? Are you just bunch of animals? Election was held in far away Sri-Lanka, it was successful, election was held in Ghana, there was no problems, even election was held in iRAQ, there was no problem. How come it’s only you Nigerians that carries bondage of problems? WHY ARE YOU SO BAD IN NIGERIA? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR BRAINS?

        • Ray Effiom

Jonathan administration took Dick Cheney to court for something but settled out of court and paid a big some. What was that for? They do bear grudge, you know

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Straight to the point ! Thanks a lot,you also forgot the oil blocs due for review this year which were shared to the imperialists by the northern dictators in order to safeguard their grip on power as it were. The west always prefer northern oligarchs because they cannot play hard-ball.

        • Critical

That is too shallow and myopic view from you. US started a Shale oil exploration project 6 years ago to enable them stop importation of oil and be self dependent. So are you saying they have the same challenge with Libya, Angola, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar etc? They have stopped importing from these countries becos they have other source of getting it in the US soil therefore they no longer need it. That is simply why the price of oil crashed today because the major buyer (the USA) no longer imports like it used to. So what has that got to do with your phantom Jonathan story that never happened? Jonathan never asked anybody to pay any compensation. What happened was some people from a community took Shell to International court and used their money to prosecute the case. Government was even prevailing on them to drop the charges so they will settle out of court with Shell but they refused and got compensation now you are saying it is Jonathan that forced them to pay in which world?

      • paul preston

let Jega distribute pvc to everybody so that whoever wins or loses will not have any excuse to resort to violence.America does not care about you so let them mind their business,INEC have not breach any Law in shifting polls

So who is more corrupt? Nigerians empty our treasuries for West banks and you accuse Nigerians of being corrupt

My friend nobody can stop corruption in Nigeria, except young military offices takes power and eliminates all the past leaders and the present corrupt politicians, in addition to top civil servants. Nigerians are so mingled with corruption that even the food we eat in our homes, the tv we watch in our homes, the cars we drive, the house we live in, are all in bondage crying for deliverance.

  • Primate

Please, somebody should tell Mr. John Kerry to mind his bloody business. Nigeria is not in the business of secumbing to your wishes or demands, and besides, I think you should stay in your own lane, and only talk when you ate invited.

But Nigeria wanted to purchase weapons and Apache helicopters from USA to fight BH since you have no brain to manufacture weapons by yourselves.

      • Guguru

        Well done. Thank you.

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Can you name how many countries in the first world who are self dependent on weapons, every country imports something from somewhere, even the USA imports some of its weaponry from other NATO countries and Israel .You are ignorant !!

      • odogwu

And what is wrong with that? has USA not been purchasing things they could not Manufacture from other countries, tell me one country that is independent of other countries in terms of every thing or you can go to hell with the so called US

  • udoudo mama

i think America should send its citizens to conduct elections in northern nigeria

    • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

Bad idea as this will run into a roadblock with BH’s belief that anything Western is haram.
Guess what will happen to these election judges? They will not live to tell their stories at all.
I am against any outside group meddling with our internal affairs since they predicted our disintegration in the first place and then refused to sell us weapons to engage these terrorists. They might very well shut up and not be heard.

      • Guguru

You cannot solve your problem but you will not allow the entity that can solve your problem to interfere as hundreds of Nigerians die daily? Are you really serious?

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

I assume @udoudo mama was being sarcastic, If Kerry and the Americans think the NE is safe then he should send his people to work or observe elections in that safe region !

There is no moral high-ground for the USA on this issue,I agree with you, they should just buzz off and let us be !!

  • Ray Effiom

USA, mind your bloody business. Nigeria souvergn state. She does not have to take any dictation from you. It is Not a state in USA. Leave us alone and stop meddling in internal politics of every country in the world

  • Tope

Nigerian are being taken as fold, they should rise and fight for revolution and let the corrupt government pay the ultimate prices just like in Arab Nations.

  • paul preston

Kerry, you want Nigreria to scatter that is why you will support INEC to organise a charade.Well this country cares about her unity so do not make noise.Election will be conducted and properly so that we will have a clear winner and loser

  • Joe

US is rushing Nigerians so that their prophecy can come to pass immediately. God is in control, US may disintegrate before Nigeria. The government of Nigeria just wanted to buy weapons to fight boko haram that killed nearly 200,000 people and US declined and askedits allies not to sell to Nigeria, is now criticizing election postponement.

    • Guguru

You are one of the reasons why those in the civilized world think of Nigerians as being below standard intelligence. Why would the US not decline weapons to a nation where more than 8- percent of the people reason like you? You think those weapons were designed for people with sub-par intelligence?

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Your comment has deep roots in inferiority complex, ignorance and a crass under-estimation of the proven intellectual prowess of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

        • Guguru

          Tawanda,

Before you use any weapon made by the USA, you go through intense training. You have to pass exams and meet certain scores. Your remarks reflect a high degree of ignorance about how things really work on this planet. We are not surprised. You said you just left the zoo lately, did you not?

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Nigerians have been training in the US military for decades,it takes a few months for a qualified airforce pilot to do a conversion course on any helicopter. The avionics training is what we are talking about here and not how to fly a chopper.

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Training in the US on aircrafts for decades? This shows you have no idea what you are talking about. The US does not even fly an y serious US aircraft except the Hercules C-130 and some small helicopter. Most of Nigeria’s aircrafts are either West or Eastern European. So, what conversion are you talking about? What avionics are you also talking about? So, a pilot will train for an avionics system without the aircraft? You hardly make any sense at all. Stop the mediocrity before it is too late.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The US war college and other military training formations has had a working arrangement which churned out officers for years. Also since the inception of AFRICOM,that working arrangement has progressed to a strategic corporation as the US during the years of Bush (jnr) picked Nigeria,Kenya,Uganda and to some extent Rwanda as countries to forge a strategic relation with in addition to Djibouti and Egypt. A conversion course is a programme which any qualified pilot undertakes to fly a particular aircraft.Nigeria has a load of qualified pilots in the air-force who can undergo such training in a few months if the go-ahead to sell such hardware was approved by the US government. My cousin who is currently wasting as a diplomat is one of those and such courses mostly centres on getting acquainted to the avionics since these pilots can already fly choppers made elsewhere .

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

LOL. Are you okay today? What working arrangement are you talking about? Did you see any document signed as an arrangement? Does Nigeria have any treaty with the USA to train Nigerian soldiers on specific equipment or techniques? What conversion course are you talking about? And what has Egypt to do with the discussion? Please, take a nap to rest your tired head because i am very concerned about you. I care about you and i do not want you to go mad so soon in life.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Nincompoop, you often display your ill-education for the public. Buhari received some of his military qualification from the US war college more than 34 years ago as a Colonel !! If there is no working arrangement, there would have been no training…Olodo !!

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

I simply asked a few pertinent questions. How did that lead to your growls from your zoo cage? Did your handlers feed you this evening? LOL. We were discussing aircrafts and now you are talking about US War College? Is your hunger making it difficult for you to think straight and stay focused?

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Read your last comment then read through my reply and you will realise how inarticulate you are and move on !

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

I agree I do not operate on your level. Why would I want to operate on the level of a creature that seems to have escaped from its zoo? What did you want me to read again? LOL

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

This is a public forum so I will leave judgement to the public, you should be ashamed of yourself.

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Only human beings can feel shame. And so, i am grateful to my creator for making me feel shame because it confirms that i am human. Praise the Lord. Zoo creatures like yourself, on the other hand, are incapable of feeling or experiencing shame. I am surprised you are not using your tongue to lick your nut sack. I am not even sure how you arrived at the fact that something like “shame” exists. I think your handlers have done a great job of teaching you how to exhibit human qualities. So, do not feel too excited.

I bet most of the uninformed about the USA on this matter are the very same sorry people who wake up at 5am every morning to go and line up either in Abuja or Lagos for a visa. These are angry and desperate people who have been denied US visa numerous times. And so, they are now in the business of chiding the US based on nothing more than spiteful indignation and jealousy for the USA.

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Usually most countries would play neutrality during election period hence the meeting of the opposition candidate and the President in a neutral ground was arranged on purpose. If Kerry had gone to Abuja,it could be misconstrued as support for the President.

In fact David Cameron had to pay his last visit to Obama earlier than scheduled in order to avoid the same scenario because he is facing re-election in a few months .

I have said it before that America is acting their script to ensure Nigeria disintegrate in 2015. God will not allow it. America fundamentally in principle is not sympathetic to APC but to use APC to destroy Nigeria so that their prediction will come to pass. Nigerians should be wise and learn from example. We can’t afford to be like Libya, Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan. the sympathy of America has not brought peace to all the countries they have extended it to. Why do we think it will be different in Nigeria. The elders, statesmen, and other well meaning Nigerians should speak out. A country that will not sell arms to Nigeria to fight our common enemy (Boko Haram) can not be dictating our election as they are frantically doing now, should not be and must not be seen as a friend or well wisher. I am deeply worries about the role of America in our election. God help us.

  • David

Maybe the usa knows something that you super smart Nigerians don’t know.
By the time all the truth about Boko haram is known, you will be shocked.
Hint: America doesn’t wants it’s arms in Boko haram hands.
Your military is sorely compromised and porous.
Foxes are in charge of keeping chickens safe.
The sooner you get rid of badluck, a the sooner Nigeria will regain respect of others.
Now we depend on chad,Niger, and Cameroon to save us from Boko haram. How about that?

    • Tope

Thank you David, a lot of people here are in total darkness. USA knows where Jonathan and his fellow thieves hide their loots.

  • odogwu

To hell with US, we will not legalize your Evil policy on Nigeria, if that is the reason you are fighting Jonathan, be prepared to fight him more for another four years because he will #Marredbuharam on march just as he has already #failedbuhari on February, to hell with you Obama and Kerry the gay brothers.

    • Tope

Ah ah ah: What a failure!!!! The USA will place a debilitating sanction on Nigeria and you will all just suffer for nothing. Go and ask Russia. Your situation will be worse, you will not even get tissue paper to clean your dirty back passage because you produce nothing.

      • odogwu

We all ways knows when a meatally dearnged ewedu fat buffoon talk, i am not suprised that a coward like you will sound this way, because that is your trade mark, you will remain a born coward you are, because that is your destiny, you and your USA my foot.. NKAKWU

        • Tope

My brace man, you are yet to produce a President since 1966, that is 47 years. When are you gong to use your bravery to select someone credible to win a party nomination. But it is all about trusts but you are not trusted therefore stay in political wilderness.
Pen is clearly mightier than sword. Try use your bravery to fix all those eroded roads in your regions and make those places habitable for your people.
Lest I forget, Jonathan is now a Igbo not Ijaw anymore. Was he adopted or something? What a failure!!!

    • Tope

If we provide you with a USA visa today, you will gracefully accept it.

  • odogwu

USA has not been able to fight their own problems like unemployment, unconstitutional killings and so many other vices, yet, they like to to poke their fat nose on other people business, you people has a lot of log on your eyes, you should leave the spec on other peoples eye, China, USA India, Indonesia, Nigeria, are some of the countries in the world with high rate of unemployment, while other countries are trying to solve their own problem, USA are busy meddling into issues that are not their concern fighting those who have not buy into their ugly policy, I wish all country leaders will summon the courage of Robert Mugabe, they should ask Obama to divorce Michelle and marry his Vice to serve as a precedent to the countries they are forcing to legalize gay relationship. to hell with you the gluttony USA and your allies, GEJ has come to stay and nothing will change this no matter all the noise from #marredbuhari and co!!

    • Tope

Why then do the Nigerians queue up in their thousands at USA EMBASSIES for Visa to travel to America? How many Americans queue up to obtain NIGERIAN Visas? You and your retarded brain!!

      • odogwu

A Moronic goblin like you will always like to spread false Rumor as it is in your Coward tribe and your failed apc, until you provide the house number and the name of schools they where this people you moronically mentioned here study and live, you still remain a carcass, go and lick the ass of Obama to show how enormous your inferiority complex is, Gabon bingo. what are you still waiting in Ajengunle, why not queue for the the visa of your Heaven USA, Billy goat.

        • Tope

You actually failed to answer my questions, all you did was irresponsible ramblings and whinging. If Nigeria is fantastic and everything works well as you falsely claimed, why did your sister Okonjo kept all her kids in USA? her husband is in USA, Why did Jonathan keep his kids in USA? Ojukwu preferred to die overseas, he knew how useless you people are, you could not even run a mortuary, Chinua Achebe knew how useless you are, he went overseas to die, the same applies to the beautiful woman Late Akinyuli. These people knew you are a useless bunch. You are worthy of nothing. Why do you like to tell lies? Is it just in your blood to cover the truths?

  • HONEST MAN

WE NIGERIANS ARE NOT SURPRISED WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE POSTPONEMENT OF FEBRUARY ELECTIONS.
A COUNTRY LIKE LIKE WHERE CORRUPTION AND POLITICIZATION OF GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IS THE ORDER OF THE DAY. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ARE MISSING EVERYDAY.
1-FEW DAYS A GO IN FOREIGN LAND, SPECIAL ADVISER CALLED FOR THE POSTPONEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE MOST CORRUPT GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA.
2- NIGER DELTA EX-TERRORIST SAID THAT IF THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT FAIL ELECTION THERE WILL BE WAR IN NIGERIA.THEY SPOKE ON BEHALF OF THE GOVERNMENT IN BAYELSA STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE TOGETHER WITH THE GOVERNOR.
3- OUT OF 774 LOCAL GOVERNMENT THE POLITICIZED AND CORRUPT ARMY WHO ARE RECEIVING COMMAND FROM OUR SO-CALLED GOVERNMENT CANNOT 7 OUT THE 774. IT IS THE BIGGEST SHAME EVER, AND AFTER THE 6 WEEKS

I am somewhat neutral in this situation because GEJ may not have performed optimally but GMB is by no means an alternative. This man (GMB) took Nigeria 16yrs backwards by overthrowing a democratically elected govt, how can he want to reap from the same democracy he jettisoned. Its morally wrong. I have read through this thread and observed that APC/GMB faithfuls are so abusive and hateful in their words. They seem to harbour so much hatred for PDP/GEJ and all those who remotely support PDP. It shows the kind of mindset they have. I also realized that they hail any Pastor who shows support for GMB bt any Pastor who remotely identifies with GEJ is condemned and verbally insulted and abused. Why? PDP/APC/GEJ/GMB are all Nigerians! Don’t be so hateful on such public fora, make your points without insulting anyone. Lets all look inwards, America doesnt hold the solution to our problems, we do! And the solution cannot be GMB.

    • thusspokez

I agree that GEJ is useless and would have been a total disaster if not for the economy — his saving grace –, thanks to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, but Buhari is even worst going by his past record. I also don’t know what Buhari has been doing with himself since the late 1980s.

      • Tope

Why do we now need to vote a useless GEJ. You did agreed that GEJ is useless.

        • thusspokez

Because Buhari is even more useless. And have you listened the interview he gave the Arab Al Jazeera biko-haram-sympathiser TV?

          • Tope

At least you know Jonathan is useless, and that explains why the cOUNTRY is in a mess. why should we vote for a useless President?

You are one of the reasons why those in the civilized world think of Nigerians as being below standard intelligence. Why would the US not decline weapons to a nation where more than 8- percent of the people reason like you? You think those weapons were designed for people with sub-par intelligence

  • otuuchi nwanneka

the issues discussed here are too serious to be relegated to the
background. Who says GEJ is clueless? I’ve never seen any Nigerian
President who loves Nigeria like Goodluck, he’s indeed Goodluck to
Nigeria. Nigeria needs to get it right this time around, no manipulation
of elections, Jonathan made sure we had a Free and Fair Elections in
2011, he’s still committed to doing that, let’s all support him. Say NO
to rigging of Elections by using underaged voters and foreigners, Say NO
to Election Rigging by using cloned PVCs. Say NO to Febuhari and
    March4Goodluck

  • Abubakar Gaidam

What is US foreign policy concerning Nigeria?prediction of disintegration, and not providing avenues for integration.US had always been in Nigeria for selfish interest,it is now obvious to them somebody is not dancing to their tune and they are not happy.what has been their support to our military since the advent of insurgency?what has been their support to PIB?Yet they want to dictate to us when to hold elections.we can’t be spoon fed any longer,we decide our future henceforth. To hell with US and i pray our government remains firm on this.If you refuse to be their puppet you become enemy,if you do their biddings you become a pally. Why has Saudi not been questioned all the while, but they attack Russia or Cuba on any flimsy excuse. I pray Nigerians begin to see things objectively and stop being partisan about every issue that affects Nigeria
