INEC snubs Dasuki, says commission set for February elections

Attahiru Jega

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reiterated its commitment to the conduct of general elections in February, in reaction to the call for postponement by the National Security Adviser, NSA, Dasuki Sambo.

At a press briefing in London on Thursday, Mr. Dasuki had called for postponement of elections, according to him, to enable INEC distribute Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, to registered voters who are yet to collect.

The chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, said Friday that the commission remains ready to go ahead with the elections as planned.

Speaking at the launch of Mitigation Of Violence In Elections (MOVE) project by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, IFES, Mr. Jega said while he would not respond to media reports of Mr. Dasuki’s call, he could confirm that INEC is determined to hold elections in February.

“We have assured that the issue of concern, namely distribution of PVCs, will be addressed before elections; and the cards will be made for all registered voters. As evidenced in our preparations, we are ready to hold elections in February,” said the INEC Chairman.

He added that over 40 million cards had already been made available, while assuring that the remaining ones will be delivered before the end of January.

He explained that the delay over complete availability of the PVCs results from the fact that some cards are yet to be produced due to late registration during the continuous voters registration, CVR, exercise.

Mr. Jega’s Chief Press Secretary, Kayode Idowu, had earlier expressed the same commitment to PREMIUM TIMES, although he said INEC had not been officially communicated by Mr. Dasuki.

“We are yet to get official correspondence in respect of the reported call for postponement of elections by the NSA. So INEC can’t make decisions based on media report,” Mr. Idowu said Thursday.

“But I can say that INEC is not looking back. We are planning and working to ensure elections hold successfully next month as planned,” Mr. Idowu said.

The call by Mr. Dasuki has been rejected by the opposition All progressives Congress and some civil society groups.

Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, a coalition of civil society organisations, also rejected the call.

In a statement by its Executive Director, Clement Nwankwo, Situation Room described the call as “an unnecessary interference in the independence of INEC as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution stating that dates for the elections can only be set by INEC”.

INEC has enhanced access to collection of PVCs by Nigerians, with the decentralisation of the distribution to ward level. The time for collection is now 8.30a.m. to 5.30p.m., Mondays to Saturdays.

Dasuki is speaking the mind of PDP. The mor they come up with their dirty trick the more they embolden the electorate to vote PDP out of power.

The single reason for calling for the postponement of election is to remove Jega and replace him with someone that help gej rig election. It is clear from their security report that gej will lose to GMB on February 14, 2015. I SAY NO TO ELECTION POSTPONEMENT

    • Wähala

That’s right, because Jega has said it will be near-impossible to rig the coming elections… God Dey!

Nigerian youths earnestly demand for Jonathan’s BSc and MSc transcripts as well as his PhD thesis. We can no longer tolerate a man with fake degrees to preside over the affairs our dear country. Jonathan… show us your degree transcripts as well as your PhD thesis. All Nigerian youths, please share this demand.

    • Otile

You see, when I read the dialog between Imam Buhari ati Tinubu I thought Wähala
wrote it. It so clear, so accurate, in legal parlance it is called ad rem.

      Who knows what Wähala
can do, after all he is a consultant, he might as well take money from PDP and do a job for them on his master. Nobody knows the inner conversations that go on inside Buhari’s kitchen cabinet more than Wähala
and my good friend Abubakar tundemash?

Maria, thank your buddy Wähala for us for a job well done.

Wetin I tell you? Show me the man sho spits out sugar from his mouth? Prof. Jega will want to iconize his name as the man who conducted the first elections in Nigeria where the myth of incumbency was broken and a sitting failed president dumped by angry electorate due to mass failures in all departments. Jega will not miss his chance from the penalty spot to punish Dumbo for his role in today’s Nigeria, his PDP’s raid on our treasury for 16yrs, the high levels of insecurity, unemployment, impunity etc… Dumbo is done and like we all know, no praying in Hell. In the end, Jega is Aboki and every sane Northerner hated seeing Asari on barber chair insulting their people and religion. This is pay-back time. Dumbo is persona-non-grata in the North like we also told them last year. Hahahaha choi, indeed o!

        • tundemash

Just right-click on the pic and chose “save as” . Na for SaharaReporters i get the pic. Very humiliating but Dumbo will do anything just to be President even if Shekau ask him to donate Hipo to Boko Haram !

Don’t use this kind of talk to distract from the certifigate of Imam Buhari. Everybody is still waiting to hear from Cambridge. You schooled in ABU, you know how easy it is to forge safrikate in the North. We are still waiting for the real thing from Ingila.

          • Wähala

I’m referring to the man kneeling subdued in front of Emir of Kano, HRH Sanusi L Sanusi…

          • Olusola

dont deny your boss now! You can see this is un-presidential by any standard. In Yoruba we call such a man Omugo! But because he is president, I will not like to call him Omugo.

          Hahaha choi eee!
@tundemash: Thanx for the upload ooo!!
Emir Abu Muhammadu bin Sanusi Lamido el Sanusi, should have been holding a koboko while reminding the crawling Otuoke Clown Prince to remove his “fila” in front of the Kano Emirate… and, d’or bale! The Emir won’t mind Dumbo who’s currently owing him “severance pay” after illegally relieving him from his lucrative and prestigious CBN job, an action that humiliated the entire Ancient City of Kano citizens… Dumbo must go the distance and prostrate full length, maybe, Tinubu should teach him how to greet a Kabiyesi in Egba Land. Hahahahahaaaaa oooh! my eye don see my ears today… odeku, biko!

The man is purely a deceit. Hypocrite and impostor. He treats Nigeria as you would treat a kid whom you give a chocolate to set a bait for him! Sky News knew him earlier than most of us in Nigeria when they said: “Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigerian President who at his worst is naïve and at his best MANIPULATIVE.”
Unfortunately for him, Nigerians have known him so much now that he can never again beat them with his WILES AND ANTICS! The man is a goner! The Heaven rejects him, the Earth rejects him, the civilians reject him, the military reject him, Nigerians reject him and the foreign nations too reject him. The only thing that he still genuinely have with him now is Mama Peace and I don’t know what she will also do next. Do not be deceived by the e-rats and internet Almajiri, for they are only there to collect his money while doing their PAY PER POST contract; they all know he is a goner!

He then taught them because they are gullible, how to put ALL the blames for their loss on the Yorubas.

to finally CRUSH you and your Fraudulent Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Team. You have been told to do a simple thing: SINCE BUHARI EVEN GAVE YOU HIS EXAMINATION NUMBER THE COMMON SENSE THING IS FOR YOU To WRITE TO CAMBRIDGE TO VERIFY. But we Nigerian voters know that you will never write to Cambridge because you are afraid to hear about the real truth. You are scared stiff about what you will get from Cambridge-which is a confirmation of what Buhari gave you. Hence the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraud is dodging pretending that checking with the Cambridge option is not there!!! You are like the proverbial Ostrich that buries its head in the sand, and did not see anyone. But because the Ostrich did not see anyone it thinks that no one sees it!!! Let me give you a test and
grade your ‘Phd” in animal care!. This test will tell you where to go to “verify” (though you know you do not need to verify anything since you are a dubious person, you yourself know that there is nothing about Buhari records, and what the fraudulent Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraud is doing is called a “game” to escape being scrutinized on the achievement of their FAILED candidate-Outgoing President -Goodluck Jonathan) . This is the scenario. (i) You are
member of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraud. (ii) The Goodluck Jonathan
Campaign Fraud/Team has a stolen 20billion Naira (stolen from Nigerian people)
to pay you members of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraudulent Team. (iii) As
members you collect your pay based on the number of garbage online posts you
make daily. (iv) You are paid Ten Thousand Naira per post . (v) You Tawanda
told Otile that Reno Omokri-your coordinator- has just paid you your Ten
Thousand Naira per the present garbage post you just made. (vi) But Otile another
member of your Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraudulent team disagreed with you
since you members of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Fraud do not trust one
another because all of you are dubious and you know one another as mutually
dubious and dishonest people. Based on your mutual dishonesty and your mutual distrust for one another Otile
said your coordinator Reno Omokri gave you bribe of Ten Thousand Naira. So
Otile said you collected Twenty Thousand Naira from Reno Omokri the coordinator
of the fraudulent 20 billion Naira Fund. But you said No, that you agree that
all of you normally collect bribe from Reno Omokri but that you have not collected the one
for today, and that you only collected Ten Thousand Naira (for the post) and
not Twenty thousand naira (post money +bribe). Since Otile did not trust you as a
mutual member of a dishonest and corrupt team, what will you tell Otile? Who
will you ask Otile your fellow fraud to check with? Will you not ask your
mutually fraudulent and corrupt partner Otile to check from your main
fraudulent paymaster-Reno Omokri who normally pay you, and who you claim have
just paid you your Ten thousand naira and Not twenty thousand naira? Will you
not ask Otile to contact Reno Omokri as the supervisor and coordinator the
payer of your post, salary and bribe? We have started the process of endingNaija the
corrupt Goodluck Jonathan way hence we are testing your “Phd” with
this simple test. So please answer as best as you can and answer HONESTLY!!! Be honest in your answer please.

      Dear Editor Premium Times,

1999 Constitution dis-qualifies Muhammadu Buhari from having his name on the ballot.
It would be irresponsible for a supposedly enlightened country to overlook its Constitution.
I raise this issue because Nigeria’s journalists are not ringing the alarm bells on this issue.

Buhari has violated the Electoral Act demanding that copies of his certificates be attached.
And he’s presented a sworn affidavit saying he obtained a specific certificate called WASC.
There is no proof that Buhari earned such certificate for he’s never tendered it since 1962.

These two separate violations are compounding disqualifying offences by Muhammadu Buhari.
But for the on-going strike of court workers, an interim injunction would have restrained INEC.
Even then INEC should write now and notify Buhari of his violations of the two qualification laws.
Nothing bars INEC from expressing its views on the electoral law and the Constitution of Nigeria.
INEC keeping quiet on these violations (three weeks to election) sends wrong signal to Buhari.

  • annasuku

PDP and its paid agents have never been this frustrated, agitated and apprehensive over the daily rising popularity of Buhari among the good people of Nigerians. This is despite the various orchestrated negative propaganda and hate campaigns against our revered GMB. Nigerians cannot be taken for a ride any more by PDP. Unemployment is alarming, insecurity is unprecedented, economy is collapsing, corruption is monumental, and kidnapping and daily oil theft are worsening etc. PDP and its agents should address these myriad of problems rather than dissipate energy on the confirmed and authenticated certificate of GMB. Am quite glad that PDP and its sponsored agents have failed to distract Buhari and APC in their campaigns by these negative and false propaganda. Having failed in all their evil plots and machinations, and sensing that the outcome of the election is going to be shocking to them, they are now begging INEC to shift the polls by 6months. Thank God INEC has said it is on top of the situation, and that elections will go as originally planned. APC should still be on the watch out as PDP will never rest its oars in trying to bring the man causing them headache (GMB) down. No matter what they say again about Buhari, the situation will still remain the same- Buhari will win convincingly come Feb 14.

it is getting clearer each day that this election will be tensely fought. With the merger of all the parties to form apc, it won’t be business as usual for the pdp this time. There are 3 factors that makes this election different from 2011. Firstly the parties joined together to form the apc which has a broader and nationwide appeal which matches pdp’s reach 2. the defection of 5 pdp governors to apc thereby surrendering the states party structure to loyalists of incumbent plays a significant issue(this was precipitated by the fact gej allegedly renegade on his plan not to contest 2015 3. i must say bamabgar tukur really tore deep into the fabrics of pdp, he was the chef you did not want managing the kitchen. All in all nigerians should be the beneficiary of this kind of politics, as it only strenghens our democracy. We should all say no to violence and reap the rewards of nation building.thanks

So true, Buhari will most likely win all the states he’s won in the past, add the APC controlled states to those and widespread dissatisfaction with GEJ administration. Buhari is likely winning this election in landslide if the election if fair. May the best candidate win and Nigerians be the true winners

They bomb Buhari in kaduna God save the man of truth, The said Buhari is a religious bigot, did not work, the said Buhari is sick having cancer, AIDS and all kind of diseases did not work, They assume to be God and said Buhari will die soon did not work, Buhari has no certificate did not work, Buhari is too tall to be president, the real Buhari is already dead, this one is a ghost did not work, finally they settle for postponement cannot work. what next? Now Can we move to the real issues? But wait for a while can any body give us an idea how we can access GEJ PhD thesis or even the title of his research, the name of his supervisor, publication in any Journal? Because google is not responding, we learnt that he is a postgraduate dropout claimed to have PhD but PDP in 2011 covered up since it is PDP affair. Can PDP Use the same energy chasing only certificate to rescue our Chibok girls or capture Shekau? Why GEJ being the best performing president want to shift the goal post at the middle of the game. No going back febuhary 14, GMB is our next president

For people who knows the story of King Saul and Prophet Samuel; Samuel turned to Saul and said God has torn your kingdom and given it to your neighbor (David) . From that moment the omnipotent & omnipresent favor of The Lord departed from him ,at the juncture Saul was stumbling from one mistake to other.
PDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 solid years , at this juncture they have bequeath the nation with the following after trillions had been spent:
    1) More darkness than light( 24 hrs electricity is a mirage).
2)Massive Corruption ( worst with GEJ : corruption has become a way of live, no sanctions but praises)
3)Massive unemployment ( immigration job episode , leaving behind tears of sorrow and gnashing of teeth)
4)Daily Insecurity (despite GEJ promise to protect every citizens / properties : it is daily blood letting & destruction of
properties in NE , other crimes like kidnapping &suicide bombing on the rise.)
    5) Poverty (in the mist of plenty majority are suffering ,while GEJ is turning up more billionaires / multiple Jet owners)
PDP /GEJ cup has now runneth over. People are calling for Change , he and his cohorts are making more mistakes like King Saul . FFK is weeping daily on media because of WASC of 1961, instead of providing people what to eat. GEJ has become the campaign manager for Bubari , all you need to do is give him mic. They forged illness for Buhari, wish him Death when they are not God his Creator.
The e-rats are becoming more desperate , bite anything @ site on the net.
Their time is up,their kingdom is wished away , another is taken their place
Buhari’s Tsunami of change is coming , it is Unstoppable, it has the power of God in it .
GEJ / PDP time up. The Change is here. Febuhari 14th is your date with Destiny.

true talk. many people are taking Nigeria for granted, forgetting that they need a country more than anything

  • Yusuf

Move on INEC, we are left with only one issue to worry now; the safety of our brothers and sisters in NE, we will keep praying to God Almighty. We hope the PDP(N)SA will focus his attention on protecting those innocent lives

  • Dr. Olalekan

When will Nigerians see that INEC’s Professor Jega utterly lacks in administrative skills?
Professor Jega has so far issued 48.5% of voter cards with three weeks to the election.
Secondly, he is confronted with Buhari’s probable perjury on affidavit but does nothing.
Yet he is required by law to certify the candidates for this election by issuing public notice.
With a befuddled INEC Chairman there’s really no hope for confidence of efficient election.

The addle-headed politicians in Nigeria are no less dull and mostly thievish and roguish.
None of the political parties even tries to uphold the law and the Constitution of Nigeria.
Of the dozen or so parties none has filed an objection notice to Buhari’s candidacy.
And so, the law in Nigeria remains just a sheer decorative thing in the doldrums for all times.
Oh, my God, what a country! If education can’t help these Nigerians to think, what else will?

    • Questioner

      General Muhammadu Buhari,

Did you commit perjury or not by filling out the Army Form 199A
shortly after 18th October, 1961, wherein you intentionally but falsely
wrote that you had obtained specific credits in English, Geography,
History, and, Hausa (with a pass in English Literature)?

When, in fact, you had not sat for WAEC examination as of that date
or at any time provable afterwards, which (inferred) perjury was compounded
by the affidavit you swore in the year 2014, stating on oath you sat for WAEC
exam in 1961 and got WASC certificate; being a false statement tantamount
to perjury – insofar as you had not sat for WAEC or obtained any score by then?

A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if he has
presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

        @ Questioner:

This whole thing is so suspicious to the rest of the world that since 1962
Buhari has relied on affidavits which NEVER explain the WAEC certificate’s
whereabouts. It is however a disqualifying offence under the law to present
a false declaration to INEC for an election. Also, it is a criminal offence
punishable by imprisonment to make a false declaration by affidavit.

“When this Buhari school certificate matter came before us in the APC presidential
screening committee, we demanded for Buhari’s school certificate, but there was
an affidavit, and you know, once you swear to an affidavit, it definitely gives you
whatever protection in any matter, not just in this case. So, if there is evidence that
somebody has attended military schools that are tertiary institutions, up to War College
of the United States of America, why should you really go into school certificate and so on?”

But General Buhari has NOT said till today that the dubious result published

by the Katsina State Ministry of Education are his own result. General Buhari

did NOT even present that Katsina state result to INEC. So where is the perjury?

          • Dauda

hm hm hm President Jonathan you are still eating your teeth. Continue. Nigerian voters are filing their PVC to throw you out into the cold come Febuhari 14th.

The word is FailBuhari not Febuhari.

      • Dauda

President Jonathan you are still deluding yourself!!! Continue. We like your sense of illusion. You have already lost the job of the president of this country. And you know. From May 2015, you will be out of job. Please come to that reality and stop this nonsense. Or simply go to court . You will be JOKING if you think the election will not hold on Febuhari 14th. It will and you have lost your job President Jonathan.

Dr. Olalekan, you are right. An objection notice on Buhari’s candidacy
is the way to go, not the serial press statements the PDP, for example, does
in vain (most of the time) just for Femi Fani-Kayode’s speaking pleasure.

For three (3) weeks till now Buhari is yet to account for his original WASC certificate.
Yet, no Nigerian journalist raises this issue with Buhari or with APC national officers.
What’s going in Nigeria is NOT journalism – it’s roguery,

        • Akindolamu

You are a human being. You also have rights. You have right to information. So? Do what you are afraid to do because of the REAL TRUTH that will EXPLODE on your face that you have INVENTED a LIE and an un-necessary controversy. Buhari has given you information. You have the right to write to Cambridge to confirm the information from Buhari. Please write to Cambridge and come back here and share Cambridge’s response with us on this platform. If you can not exercise your right then SHUT UP and go or HANG yourself!

          • Supo

Do you have to abuse him? Has he told any lie in what he said?
Has Buhari accounted for the whereabouts of his WASC certificate?

          • Eke

            @ Akindolamu,

Please respect yourself. It is an insult that you are telling us to go and buy flight ticket
and fly to Cambridge to know if Muhammadu Buhari did WASC in 1961. When we get
there now, Cambridge will abuse us as illiterates because we are supposed to know
that the purpose of giving every student a certificate is to answer that same question.
That’s why we are doing the right thing to ask Buhari for his WASC/Cambridge certificate.

          • Eke

Old boy, is it AFFIDAVIT Cambridge gave to Buhari in 1961?
If not, what exactly did Cambridge give Muhammadu Buhari in 1961?
It is that thing Cambridge gave to Buhari we want to see, biko, no vex o!

    8th Wonder of the World

Well, looking at this issue, Buhari’s WAEC certificate is now the 8th wonder

of the world since no employer of his ever saw the original or a photocopy.

That is the stuff a thriller story is made of – sheer amazing stuff in Nigeria!

His iniquities have caught up with him. All those donkey years he has been basking in the glory of his fraudulent achievements. He has never faced this kind of disgrace before, and he thought good days would never end. Now his inordinate ambition has turned his life upside down. On FailBuhari 14 he’s gonna meet his waterloo.

A bloody war may ensue from his catastrophic defeat because his minions are not going to take his humiliation lying down.
