EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Army releases academic records to Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday publicly released the academic details of former military leader, Muhammadu Buhari, but denied at the same time it could not vouch for the authenticity of his Senior Secondary Examinations results.

Speaking to the media, Army Spokesperson, Olajide Laleye, reversed the Army’s earlier position that it had copies of Mr. Buhari’s West African Secondary School Certificate.

Mr. Laleye said while military records showed Mr. Buhari obtained the WASC in 1961, with credits in English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, and Hausa, there were neither the original copy nor certified true copy nor statement of result to confirm the grades.

He also said the Army could not confirm whether Mr. Buhari’s claim of obtaining those results was verified by the Army in the 1960s.

But military sources say while the Army spokesperson was addressing the media, the Department of Military Secretary the same day was despatching to Mr. Buhari his academic records, which had been requested by the retired general.

PREMIUM TIMES has obtained copies of the records showing the military duly noted that Mr. Buhari obtained the requisite WASC qualifications.

  • Khafilat Adeoye

PT please upload Buhari academic record No.6 ……. it is missing in the upload above.

    • PROF

I STILL CANT SEEM TO SEE ANY CERTIFICATE, I AM ASHAMED TO HAVE BEEN CAMPAIGNING FOR BUHARI.

    • YorubaVoice

I can’t see it either. But it doesn’t matter either. I don’t want PhD holders with oppression and insensitivity; just give me kindergartner is with missing certificate if he can just assure me my future.
Look it all shows that 1960’s cert is more productive than 1990’s(?) PhD.

  • Dan

    So what now PDP?

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Presumably, PDP will now ask GMB for his parents’ birth certificates!

      • Okey

From this report, where did you see “WASC” Buhari claimed in his INEC form as his “qualification” ?

This matter is straightforward and very simple: “WAEC, I sat for the WASC in 1961 or 1962 at my school Katsina xyz college; my Number is xyz. My Original certificate is now missing. I do not have photocopy of it. Please, issue a statement reflecting the facts of my result/certificate you issued me.”

Why are we behaving as though the Nigerian Army is examination board ?

        • Wähala

          Go to court!
Evil Dumbo has failed, he’s going home… Give-up!

          • Okey

Pity, shame has no place anymore !

          • Wähala

Since shame has a place in your big head, are you proud of Dumbo? Is he not a shame to the Office of the President of Nigeria? Even arid Chad is sending troops to recapture Baga, a Nigerian town captured by a gang of armed thugs. You are a mad man to even mention ‘shame’ bcos you obviously don’t know the meaning of the word. Anu ohia.

        • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Okey, with your good command of English, why are you pretending that you have no conception of the word “minimum”?

          • Wähala

That’s Reno or Deri. I suspect Deri. He’s the only pfool that reposts the same crap allover the net, the reason he was banned by all self-respecting news orgs. No Igbo man is so stup*d and redundant. What good command of Englsih, the guy is a drunk, he made an honest mistake… forget him!

        • PROF

          Buhari is a fraud .simple

        • YorubaVoice

We already have the statement suggesting that really the military did have it. See item (4) showing that they have his record. It is not the same that the endorsement (3) by the principal. I don’t need anything more than this.
Besides Buhari has best grade in integrity among our politicians, and I know Nigeria will be safe under his reign.

      • Teju

If the Electoral Acts required that the birth certificates of candidates be presented, the PDP should do well to also insist that GMB present those of his. Simple. No sentiments in these things.

        • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

          “If”

Did you watch POTUS give the State of the Union Speech overnight?

        • Teju

Of course I meant if the birth certificates of candidates’ PARENTS were required by the Electoral Act….

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Like the “Constitution” asked to see his wife?

          • Teju

Like the Electoral Act is asking for evidence of his claimed certificates.

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Bruv, not only are you wasting your time and breath discussing a topic you are clearly not conversant with.

You are certainly getting diverted by the PDP attempts at not discussing real issues that should be the focus of this election.

Please see what the Electoral Act have to say about this. Seriously, do you think the INEC is that daft? Do you not wonder why the PDP has not dashed to the courts to get one of its spurious orders if it thought there was a snowflake’s chance in hel* of stopping GMB on this point?

Ask pertinent questions of the aspirants. Do not be lulled by the smoke and mirror tactics of the PDP.

“Section 131 (d) of the Constitution provides that a person shall be qualified for election to the office of the President if he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

Section 318 goes further to say that a “School Certificate or its equivalent means: a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and- Service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for a minimum of ten years, and attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totaling up to a minimum of one year, and the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and any other qualification acceptable by the Independent National Electoral Commission. “

          • Teju

Come on bro, you are not trying to ask the PDP to put all their eggs in one basket at this stage in the brawl, are you? The party is smarter than that, obviously. They are going to go on with the elections even though they are convinced that their main opponent in the presidential elections is damaged goods, credentials-wise. If they win the elections regardless of the certificate controversy, I can bet that they’ll let the matter rest there. But if they lose, then you can be absolutely certain there will be after-election legal fireworks. And the prognosis is that they’ll win if the provisions of the electoral act are anything to argue their case on.

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Teju, now that GMB has shown that he gives a damn about Nigerians by addressing this matter, would you now ask GEJ to show us copies of his Asset Declaration Forms?

Or should he continue telling us “I don’t give a damn”?

  • Okey

Premium Times, where is the “WASC” Certificate/Result that Gen. Buhari filled in INEC form ? Or, is it the SSCE as you prefer to call here ?

    • Wähala

Forget it. Go home! Evil Jona’s last card has backfired, it’s time to call it quits… drunkards!

      • Doctor Do Good

        MUMU, the lone voice!!!!

      • stan

The certificate saga is just gathering momentum , can you stop it? lol

  • Timothy Aseer

    Buhari show us your certificate!

    • Wähala

It’s over, go home. That line has run dry…

  • Ay Pointblank

Buhari shouldnt make any press statement now. Let this issue drag on and be a source of distraction to PDP until it’s too late for them … lazy politicians!!!

  • Ifeanyi Chukwujekwu

We have been vindicated by the Nigerian Army. Buhari’s certificate saga sends a clear message to Nigerians; that we ve been largely led by uneducated men on many fronts especially at the National Assembly and State Governments level. No wonder a richly educated Osibanjo finds nothing amusing and appalling in tagging behind a General who cannot pronounce his name irrespective of their collective ambition. Shame on all those who are too selfish to have a minimum standard, all those who have denied our generation opportunities after they have toiled at various accademics institutions in Nigeria to meet the minimum requirements. Shame on Osibanjo for telling his daughters through his actions, that ‘education is no longer the passport into the future’ as conceived by Malcom X.

  • Ademola Arowosaye

Honestly this is not even about GEJ or politics anymore this is a very serious issue that everyone should put down their swords and hit together, this is embarrassing, the world is watching usn Britain is laughing at us, this man has lied under oath 3 timesn forged results and even took the forged result to us war college, do you know what that means, every Nigerian will soon be labelled a fraud if you did not get your High school cert abroad, our collective future is on the line, this is not a funny issue, if PDP does not sue this guy then I will believe they too know something. This is outright embrassment, his ranks need to be called back, what yeye general is that, okay if this man had sense like OBJ and IBB and co did, he would have improved himself all this yearn but because he thrives on the gullibility of Nigerians, he unashamedly comes out to fight the government. We all need to be ashamed.

    • Wähala

The world is laughing at Dumbo not us, he’s the disgrace everyone in the world wants out. Go siddon!

  • Musa Yaro

Let’s be honest, the so called ‘ change ‘ will be very hard and not in the interest of the country. I don’t see Buhari offering any meaningful leadership to this country . I’m disappointed APC overlooked Atiku and Kwankwaso. They are both brilliant and energetic young men. We should be careful about the change we wish for Nigeria, anyway,I’m for GEJ ,Yero and PDP.

  • endingNaija

From this report, I conclude that Mr. Goodluck Jonathan and his followers are of SATAN. Nigeria will regress if Mr. Goodluck Jonathan continues as President. I have just read the documentations of Mr. Buhari’s credentials as
returned to him by the military. I can now confirm the basis of the calamity and evil that has befallen Nigeria since six years under Mr. Jonathan’s rule. I wish to say as follows
    1. Mr. Goodluck Jonathan the present president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is EVIL and SATANIC THROUGH AND THROUGH.2.Mr. Goodluck Jonathan is a NEGATIVE SPIRIT . This explains the negativity and corrosion that follows everything he touches in NIgeria. 3.Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, the present President of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria must be VOTED OUT peacefully and democratically on February 14, if Nigeria will make any progress-THISMAN-GOODLUCK JONATHAN- IS EVIL AND SATANIC in and out. For him to encourage his Goodluck Jonathan
Campaign Fraud to LIE in a shameless manner on Buhari’s credentials as if the man did not even go to school, in a most evil manner is SATANIC. Who does not know the low level of documentation and archiving in Nigeria at that time for God’s sake-even today documentation in Nigeria does not meet International standard. Jonathan has to leave if Nigeria
will make progress. Goodluck Jonathan IS SATAN INCARNATE and his campaign people are followers of SATAN. Jonathan MUST LEAVE for causing so much un-necessary havoc and emotions around Buhari’s credentials. Buhari is qualified to contest under the law. His credentials have shown that. Those credentials and sentimens expressed around them in 1960s meet professional and academic STANDARDS. No wonder Mr. Buhari was un-pertubed, showing confidence, poise and unaffected by the negativity of the distractions all along. God Bless you Muhamadu Buhari. Nothing
will happen to you. God that places the burden of Change in Nigeria on your lean but effective shoulders and wise head will see you through. History shall be the judge. Nothing will shall happen to you. As you respond to duty to serve your motherland again, God will go before you. Our Lord Jesus will be behind you. Our Lord Jesus will be on your right hand. Our Lord Jesus will be on your left hand. May God Bless you and your family eternally. God put the enemies of Nigeria as represented by the Satanic Goodluck Jonathan to shame.

    • Okey

This matter is straightforward and very simple: “WAEC, I sat for my WASC in 1961 or 1962 at my school Katsina xyz college; my Number is xyz. My Original certificate is now missing. I do not have photocopy of it. Please, issue a statement reflecting the facts of my result/certificate you issued me.”

Why are we behaving as though the Nigerian Army is examination board ?

    • DESTINY,

you are not ashamed of supporting a presidential candidate that dose have WAEC, certificate.

    • Benny born

But guy, are you saying fraud is allowed? This guy sent most prominent people that are sound educationally to KiriKiri, not knowing he has no WASC. His in a big mess, It’s now beyond election, It’s a case of perjury. He should also be striped all his ranks and benefits. Mr. Integrity my bom bom

    • Brandon Landry

God bless you sir. God bless you and your family real good!

  • Olusegun Adekoya

All I keep seeing is that he is of “average intelligence”. ..is this the best the opposition can give to Nigerians..definitely not voting for this chap

    • Okikiola Beckley

      Jonathan is an Einstein!

  • Ette

Endearing GMB more in the hearts of Nigerians. Well done PDP for promoting the uprightness, simplicity, incorruptible, hardworking, honesty and fair mindedness of GMB. God Amighty is using GEJ and PDP to help GMB win the election roundedly. Nigeria will be better for it. To God be the glory.

    • Osogagba

As well as the average-ness of the man and his unsuitability to be an instructor in any staff college. Buhari has always been known to somewhat dull and no amount of ‘packaging’ by the APC can obscure that inconvenient truth. GMB hasn’t the intellectual capacity to be a state governor in Nigeria, let alone a president.

      • Wähala

Has Dumbo been exhibiting the intellectual capacity to be governor in Nigeria? Does he speak, read or react like an educated man, let alone a president?

        • Osogagba

Sorry my dear. Regardless of what you think about “Dumbo’, this is unfortunately not about him. This is about “DAFT-O.’ Deal with it.

          • Wähala

The sheer number of Reno’s rat online on this shows your desperation. If I were Buhari’s handlers, I would simply refer you fools to the courts and move on rather than waste time dwelling on nonsense. The Constitution said a level of education, not paper trails.

          • Osogagba

Are you saying you are proud of being LAI(R) Mohammadu’s e-rat too? Thumbs up to you. At least, you are earning your Thiefnubu pay assiduously.

    • Onike24

      Thank you

    • glo

      True talk.

  • Shuaibu Bola Victor

Why is BUHARI dragging the Nigerian
military into politics. Ok, was it not BUHARI that said and deposed affidavit that
his certificates are with Military. Hence, the Military has only came out in public
to say what and what(the records) they have on Buhari’s file. Buhari
should respect himself. IBB had told Buhari three days ago in Minna that
he(BUHARI) has refused to fade away.

    “You(BUHARI) have beaten
some of us in proving Gen. Douglas Macarthur’s theory that old soldiers
never die but fade away gradually. But you have refused to fade
    away”—IBB

WHY CANT BUHARI FADE AWAY TO ALLOW YOUNG NIGERIANS PADDLE THEIR FUTURE.

  • Akinwade Kolawole

So Mr. Muhammadu Buhari really does not have the West Africa School Certificate (WASC) as he claimed in the form which he filed with the Independent National Electoral Commission?
So Mr. Muhammadu Buhari was admitted into the Nigerian Army merely on the basis of a letter from the Principal of his secondary school assuring that he would pass his WASC Examination?
So Mr. Muhammadu Buhari cheated the system and became a “Major General” merely because he is a Muslim Fulani who must be pushed forward for “national unity” when many of his peers at the time were denied admission into the Nigerian Army for not being qualified?
This is scandalous. Does the All Progressives Congress (APC) still not realise the disservice it has done to itself by insisting that this FRAUDSTER be presented to Nigerians as its Presidential Candidate? Are Buharists saying fraud is OK or that formal education (confirmed by certification) is unnecessary simply because the culprit is Mr. Muhammadu Buhari?
Mr. Muhammadu Buhari should stop this nonsense and apologise to Nigerians for his scam! And the Nigerian Army should strip him of his military rank and all privileges related thereto.
It should now be evident to all that….
    ‪#‎BuhariWillNeverBePresident‬

    • DESTINY,

what a world my brother,I can see why the Hausa Fulani have been claiming that Nigeria is own by them.

  • Okikiola Beckley

What next? I think Buhari is a wanted Nazi war criminal,I saw the document in signed in 1942 that sent 100,000 Polish Jews to the gas chambers in Sobibor andTreblinka.

    • Wähala

Are you trying to be funny or what? You have a very wry sense of humor. Go back to your ogogoro, it’s too early in the day to get drunk. So, so silly and immature… see your head!

      • Brandon Landry

Wahala, i think Beckley was tryna mock the foolishness of PDP fabrication antics

    • Brandon Landry

lol excellent satiric sarcastic humor. Love it!

  • Maja

So among this 9 files, where is the certificate?

  • endingNaija

I have made my first response. My second response is simple. I advise all of us CHANGE VESSELS and CHANGE AGENTS to go back to the streets and continue our campaign for Buhari . With the documentation I have seen in PT story this matter is CLOSED-PERMANENTLY CLOSED. The tactics of the SATANIC AND EVIL GOODLUCK JONATHAN is to DISTRACT. This election is a REFERENDUM By Nigerian Voters and The International Community on the SIX YEARS of MISRULE by the SATANIC and SNAKEY Goodluck Jonathan. The verdict is out . This man called Goodluck Jonathan MUST BE BOOTED out with our votes. Sai Buhari oyoyo. Sai Change oyoyo. We are leaving this online nonsense and moving onto the streets, onto ALL Nigeria Neighborhoods . For LYING in this EVIL and SINFUL manner, for DESTROYING our military with his politics, the SATANIC and SNAKEY GOODLUCK JONATHAN must be BOOTED BACK to his Village. Sai Change oyoyo!
Sai Buhari. Peace , Unity and Love of God on all of you Buhari Change Agents Always. God Bless Nigeria. This country will arise with the exit of the EVIL and SATANIC Jonathan. One people, One Country Under same Loving God.
    Sai Buhari oyoyo

    • Nwokolo

Thanks my brother. I actually shed tears as I went through all the papers attached. Buhari is just a Great Man. Who you are is all over you! I pray God keeps him alive to see the Nigeria of his dream. So emotional for me.

    • PROF

I still cant see buharis waec certificate here , Or is buhari really a fraud ?

  • Sani Danladi

So much for man of integrity and anti-corruption czar when the very foundation of the man is premised on unassailable corruption. I’m so ashamed that some Nigerians are shamelessly defending Buhari’s deception on the Nigerian state and people when they should rightly be calling for the man to be brought to justice.

    • Spoken word

Mr fake Danladi. shows how unserious and fraudulent you are by using a fake name and you are talking about integrity.integrity indeed.

    • Okey

And here is a man that murdered 3 young Nigerians by firing squad for not complying with the law !

    • Ha

Are you exempting yourself from being Nigerian? Why should you resort to blaming Nigerians while you have equal chance to sue Buhari. Are you feeling too inferior to be listened to by the court? Lazy guy!!! You want to rely on other people to to do the job for you. Buhari had played his own part for signing an affidavit. The burden of proof is now on the shoulder of Nigerians who have different view to confirm to the court that he was lying.

  • Okafor Emeka

GEJ TILL Buhari presents his certificate.
Long Live Federal Republic Of Nigeria
Long live Mr president Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan ,GCFR, BNER, GCON

  • Spoken word

PDP are are all on a wild goose chase to nowhere. If you read the constitution clearly. It says that an evidence of six form education or its equivalent is required. The evidence does not have to be a certificate. Buhari got a written attestation by his school principal that he received such education. Those shouting about Buhari’s certificate are just making their ignorance and desperation very obvious

    • stan

The attestation received by the Army from GMD’s principal states that he expects that GMD will obtain the required credits.
      Fraud Fraud Fraud

      • Spoken word

read well before you post dummy. who is GMD.abi you don dey drink ogogoro this morning like Jona.

  • Abdullahi Adamu

This is yet to exonerate Buhari. The general lied under oath. A big dent to his famed integrity. I thought the General could be above this petty lies. I’m already disappointed in him. I won’t waste my vote on him, instead I will vote for GEJ.

  • OMAS

Am surprise at the response of a lot of people that are in support of buhari the military has come out with the fact the man dose not have school leaving certificate but he had other certificate which shows he was involve in certificate forgery and buhari call himself Mr Integrity Jona please send this man to kirikiri

    • Osebe

That’s it.He should be sent to kirikiri. What rubbish!

      • Guest

        Buhari is a fraud !

    • Wähala

The military came up with something, ask Univ. of Pitakwa to come up with Dumbo’s PhD Thesis, he’s involved in fraud for allowing people to refer to him as “Dr” while he has no doctorate in anything…

      • Doctor Do Good

        MUMU!!!!

Buhari where is your result which you said you have?

  • True Nigerian

I SUGGEST A MASS PROTEST TO WAEC’s OFFICE….WAEC should speak NOW!
    ================================================================

The strong wind has blown and fowl yansh don open waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……..!

Too bad! What a shame! Common Secondary school certificate, a former coup plotter has not. Yet, he had the guts to throw Professors of Medicine, Literature etc as well as Barristers into jail when he came to power via a coup…and now he dreams or hallucinates a come back.

When did Hausa become a prerequisite for enlisting in the army?

WAEC examination body MUST as a matter of national urgency come up with Buhari’s result…and we want to see the grades as it appears with other results (to avoid Bola applying his skills to doctor the results) So, WAEC should speak within 24hrs.

I suggest a mass protest to WAEC office.

    • Okey

Considering that this is a man that murdered 3 young Nigerians by firing squad for not complying with the law !

  • Bobo

Please where is the academic record number 6 maybe it is more complex that is why is eluding publication.

    • stan

Academic record no 6 is conspicuously missing, the silence on this particular record is deafening.
This same record happens to be to crux of the matter, who is fooling who? PT your integrity like that of GMD is at stake here

      • Okey

I guess PT did that deliberately to enable Nigerians ask Buhari: “Where is the “WASC” certificate you wrote in the INEC form and claimed on oath that you have ?”

        • Brandon Landry

The mundane vituperation of mischievous minds smh

    • Okey

I guess PT did that deliberately to enable Nigerians ask Buhari: Where is the “WASC” certificate you wrote in the INEC form and claimed on oath that you have ?

  • Pam Daylop

There’s knowledge of this anomaly by the APC and that’s why they have been sending emissaries to Channel television to paint another grandiose picture of a general instead of prevailing on their presidential candidate to simply present the certificate and we move , but l like the channel’s crew cos they have been asking them salient questions which bother on the repercussions of a false affidavit. They even mentioned a situation where Obama had to present his original birth certificate when Donald Trump cited citizenship concerns about Obama. PDP do not have to defend this. Legally, they need to watch the development and act at the appropriate time. This revelation has sunk APC aspirations and exposed their insensibilities.

    • Wähala

What certificate? The Constitution says educated up to a certain level, don’t you think the framers of the Constitution know the word ‘certificate’ and ignored it? Some of you should be banned from thinking, indeed.

      • ikenna

Buhari said he has WAEC. He said it himself so let him publish it.

        • dave

Why should only Buhari publish his wasc result, let Jonathan also publish his wasc result and phd.

          • Preye Aganaba

Hahhahahaha! GEJ result is not subject of controversy. It is clean and clear!

      • Preye Aganaba

Please I didn’t see any results. All i saw were letters and recommendation. Buhari should publish his results. Is this a case of certificate forgery?

    • Troublesome

Atleast there is FOI, Please go to WAEC and ask for Buhari result or better still you can go to court!

      • ikenna

        hahaha

      • Preye Aganaba

The onus of proof lies on Buhari now not WAEC. Get the issues right

  • endingNaija

This is my third response. It is simple. I do not think Mr. Buhari the Presidential Candidate of APC (who has been wrongly accused of credential manipulation by the evil, sinful, satanic and Un-Godly Mr. Goodluck Jonathan of PDP) need to address any Press Conference on this issue ANYMORE. Any TRAINED ARCHIVIST who reads through those 1960-20th CENTURY documents sent back to Buhari by the Nigerian military will see the innocence, authenticity, genuiness, honesty, sincerity in those documents and the assessors. I must commend the military for keeping those documents despite our weak and low documentation technology, standards, and memory. This is the military the Buharis contributed to. I salute the remains of that military before Goodluck Jonathan complete its destruction.

The issues are clear. Mr. Buhari DOES NOT NEED TO ADDRESS ANY PRESS CONFERENCE. Mr. BUHARI THE SATANIC, EVIL, UN-GODLY AND SINFUL NEGATIVE AND EVIL SPIRIT GOODLUCK JONATHAN IS DISTRACTING YOU FROM THIS NATIONAL CALL AND DUTY GOD HISTORY, NIGERIANS, AFRICANS AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY ARE PLACING ON YOU TO LEAD THE RESCUE OF NIGERIA AND BRING HER BACK TO GLORY AGAIN. Any press conference addressed by you is un-called for, it is useless, nobody needs it with this documentation-the matter is CLOSED . Buhari, Buhari, Buhari how man times have I called you? Go Back to the streets and Nigerian Neighborhoods and continue your issue based campaign and campaign of change. I am not interested in any press conference. Buhari, Buhari, Buhari, my family and I want to see you back on the streets on your feet leading this CHANGE crusade to rescue our dear and loving country from the JAWS OF EVIL AND DEATH AS REPRESENTED BY GOODLUCK JONATHAN. One people, one country, under One and same Loving God. Peace, Love, and Unity always. Sai Buhari, oyoyo. sai Change oyoyo.

    • ikenna

Please did you see any results with form waec written on it from what Premium just published? I want to see waec with Buhari name and number.Don’t you know what a waec result should look-like?

    • Preye Aganaba

you got it wrong, read the dictum of Lord Justice Diplock in the case of Storer v Manchester city Council 1976. The fundamental legal question is the stipulation of the Constitution and I have taken my time to read the provisions of section 318. The constitution did not stipulate any
affidavits nor its equivalent. Certificate in English language has nothing to do with affidavit neither is it its synonym. If Buhari wins the election, PDP would over turn the result on basis of APC failing to meet up with the electoral tribunal. The case would be won by PDP at the Court of Appeal where the full meaning would be read to the Provision. PDP knows the game and are just waiting for APC victory first. The Law is not fulfilled yet in the candidacy of Buhari, for this reason he is at disadvantage in all round.

      • George Ager.A

Buhari has complied with the requirement of the constituition and the Electoral Act. Note that all candidates are mandated by the electoral act to submit their information with Affidavits. So every contestant submited a sworn affidavit! Secondly, look at the portion of section 318 below and tell us that Buhari does not meet the requirements. A school leaving certificate for primary 6 is sufficient not even WASC

:Just to elaborate on the intepretation of school certificate under the Nigerian constitution, the interpretation section states thus:”School Certificate or its equivalent” means
        (a) a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or
        (b) education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or
        (c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and –
        (i) service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for a minimum of ten years, and
(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totalling up to a minimum of one year, and
(iii) the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and
        (d) any other qualification acceptable by the Independent National Electoral Commission

        • Okey

Buhari was emphatic and stated that he has “WASC,” not the “equivalent.” He MUST produce it.

          • George Ager.A

He will. He has publicly quoted his WASC number for independent verification if you are interested.

          • Okey

I think a society with some sense of dignity will feel sufficiently embarrassed by this evidence-fishing exercise by Buhari.

He said he has been deposing to affidavits based on assumptions, not on facts. He implied that in all his attempts he had not considered it appropriate to approach WAEC for a statement of his certificate, if it was missing; he has now considered it most appropriate, rational and believable to approach a sitting Principal to write a result for him of an examination written 53 years ago (and which document was still kept in an office of a community school in Nigeria in the last 53 years ?). That WAEC is not the appropriate place to ask to write out his result from their records.

Now, it is not without saying that Buhari has (1) thrown up the School and its present principal for a thorough investgation of the source, the age of the souce and authenticity of the result he is now writing for Buhari, and (2) what ever result he writes should be cross-checked with WAEC’s 1961 records of Provincial Secondary School, Katsina.

          • George Ager.A

he provided his exam number if i have to state again.Any one should be able to independently verify.

          • Okey

Once one lie is told, a million more would be need to cover it. Remember, by 1959 Shehu Musa Yar’Adua had completed his military training and started serving Nigeria as a young military officer. So, only Gen. Buhari could explain what the young military officer Yar’Adua came BACK to do with him in a secondary school class in 1961.

          • Okey

Once one lie is told, a million more would be needed to cover it. Remember, by 1959 Shehu Musa Yar’Adua he claimed here to be his classmate had completed his military training and started serving Nigeria as a young military officer. So, only Gen. • Brandon Landry

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was emphatic and stated that the report of the missing $20 billion will be produced. GEJ’s govt MUST produce it.

        • Preye Aganaba

Buhari said in the oath that he has a WASC. Stop doing copy and paste. Use your brain if you have any.

          • George Ager.A

Bros you don’t need to be abusive. I copied and pasted sections of the constitution i posted on another platform.
Infact in using my brain i concluded that most of you are coughing up the same sentiments and there was no need to use my brain any further on this matter. If you have any thing different to say i can go back to my brain otherwise enjoy the copy and paste!

  • solozo

This is really an anti-climax. While it is true that GMB still meets the minimum requirement under the constitution, there is need for him to explain to Nigerians what exactly is going on and what happened in the past. Could it be that he failed to take the WAEC exams because he got admitted into the Army and he forgot that he did not eventually write the exam? If he did, even though our institutions are infamous for not keeping records, can he at least make an effort to request for a copy of his certificate from WAEC? Big distraction for everyone even though I wonder if the voters in certain parts of the country are following this saga and whether it will affect how they vote.

    • ikenna

They gave him Quota and forged his waec for him

    • ikenna

But we need to know answers to these questions or are we not?

    • pheliciti

Exercise a bit of patience and read the story again. It states clearly that he had WASCE credits in 5 subjects. How is that possible if he didn’t take the exàms ?

      • ikenna

I didn’t see any results from waec with Buhari name written on it. If you were looking for a job where they asked you to bring your certificate, will you present what Premium news just published as your results?

        • pheliciti

He applied through INEC and they cleared him on our behalf. While we are at it, we couldn’t find GEJ’s doctoral thesis, can you ask him to release a copy at least as contribution to academic discourse?

          • Preye Aganaba

His PhD certificate was attached to his nomination form. Stop betraying your ignorance in a public forum like this.

          • Wähala

Nigerian certificates can be bought, the proof is in his spoken English and inability to articulate proper answers to benign questions on spontaneous basis… watch CNN or any documentary on Nigeria. He has no thesis yet, has a PhD. Ask the Univ. of Pitakwa to proudly display his thesis since they produced a president… Zik’s PhD Thesis is displayed at the library at the Univ. of Pennsylvania!

          • pheliciti

Ignorance? Haba, I’m only mimicking the best; i.e. the clueless from top of the chain to the ones like you scrapped from the bottom end of barrel! You’ve made the issue about the preliminary steps leading to the final certificates. Now that you can confirm that Buhari sat for WASCE, now can we confirm the content of GEJ’s doctoral thesis?

          • Ikenna

God forbid! INEC cleared Buhari on your behalf. Not on our behalf. Be careful what you say.

  • ikenna

I thought they say the news conference is at 9 am and now it is all most 12 pm and nothing rather than a bogus publication from Premium news without any certificate. Buhari where is your waec certificate?

  • Barrister Cooke

The basis of the decision in this instance is the statement: “The Constitution requires a MINIMUM of secondary school certificate or its equivalent for election to the office of the president.”

The phrase “minimum or its equivalent” forms the basis of the decision in courts. In law, we call it ‘ratio decidendi’ . What APC is trying to say is that a primary school certificate and some yrs of public service suffices. This is mere ‘orbiter dicta’ in legal parlance and will certainly not form the basis for clearance because nowhere in Nigeria is a Primary certificate an equivalent to secondary certificate, rather it is an obvious prerequisite.

    • ikenna

      Thanks

    • pheliciti

    • Okey

Even at that, the man, Buhari, did not hinge his claim on “equivalent,” he emphatically stated “I have “WASC.” So, fishing now for alternative or “equivalent” is an admission that he has been living a lie all long.

Please can Nigerians tell me you can be recommended into secondary school without passing you common entrance .please I need an answer.

It’s a century too late to dismiss Buhari from the Army…
Nigerians are ready to dismiss the current C-in-C for failure to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria and mammoth corruption, and that’s what matters. Nigerians do not own APC Party, take your complain to the chieftain of that Party to dismiss their presidential candidate, Nigerians have constitutionally No Stakes in the internal affairs of the APC… kapisch?

  • warry

Buhari’s supporters say he has no stain as far as integrity is concerned, though i see him differently as a man who lies, hypocritical, deceitful, manipulative, and corrupt. The school certificate is not with the Army,so let WAEC come to the rescue so that we can move on.This is a man who receives over #250 million as pension every year but who deceives Nigerians that he is very poor..A man who could fund four presidential campaigns cannot be a poor man.

    • Wähala

If he’s all those, what is Jona Dumbo… Saint Satan?

  • Ekwekwe

Kudos to PT for getting these documents and publishing them for the public to view. A few points from those papers: Buhari noted on his army form that he had 5 credits and one pass in WASC. Was WASC not graded as C4, C5, C6 for credit level passes? The principal only wrote his prospective WASC score while Buhari wrote the subjects he had credits in by himself. There is no evidence he obtained those scores. He noted that he had been in that school for “4 years.” The so called War College training he attended was another arms handling course like the 2-month course he attended at Aldershot, UK. My conclusion is that this man has no WASC as he claimed and swore to oath. I think this man should profoundly apologise to many people and get himself ready to face trial for an Kilimanjaro-size deception of the Army and a whole nation.

    • ikenna

Which results? I didn’t see any wasc results with Buhari name on it. All i saw were letters and recommendations but let Buhari publish his results or say his wasc candidate number, he should have a candidate number for the exam.

      • Okey

You did not get Ekwekwe. Read him again.

The 1999 Constitution is explicit in its interpretation of Section 131 of the 1999 Constitution by Section 318.

Section 131 states: “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if (a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth; (b) he has attained the age of forty (40) years; (c )he is a member of a political party; and (d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

“In Section 318, School certificate or equivalent means (a) a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or (b) education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or

“(c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and (i) service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for a minimum of 10 years; and

“(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totalling up to a minimum of one year, and

“(iii) the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English Language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); and

“(d) Any other qualification acceptable by INEC.”

    • Okey

The man was emphatic in his claim/assertion. He said “I have WASC,” NOT “equivalent.”

      • Wähala

Revert to court of law to argue your stupid*ty. Why is the PDP afraid of approaching the courts while an e-rat like you comes here to infest the forum with wacko ideas? Buhari is in the race to win it this time, if previous INEC Chairmen considered him qualified, current chairman sees nothing wrong with his credentials… why do babies cry after breast feeding? The Army is not an examination board, mark you. What stops our man from demanding from WAEC a written statement on his result if he actually sat for the WASC in 1961 or 1962 and same now “missing”?

    • ikenna

The question here is Buhari’s integrity. He said he has wasc and presented it it as his educational qualification which inec published. Now it seems he didn’t have wasc so his integrity is at sake here. Let him publish his wasc and move on or even say his wasc candidate number.

      • dd

He didn’t want to measure WASC. He wanted to be sincere, but uncle Bola said he should put it or forget primaries. The plan was to take over once Buhari is disqualified. However, plan failed….ok?

      • Gideon Orkar

It was a letter restating his grade by the school and that is the practise every where. All I see here are hand written statements on plain paper!

      • dan

He went back to his University who gave him a True Certified Copy of his degree certificate. Having said that, and having gone through all the PM Times published, including Buhari’s writings about himself, which was largely incomprehensible, it appears Buhari actually sat for the WAEC (May/June) exam of that year 1961 but made a very bad result which could have disqualified him if he had presented it to the Army after having been enlisted and commissioned . At the time, you could get into the Army if you presented a letter from your principle indicating you have taken the WAEC exam and are awaiting result. That was the letter of recommendation his principal sent to the army, hoping that Buhari would be able to make 5 credits, which was the minimum qualification. Obviously, Buhari didn’t make the necessary credits and didn’t bother about it again since nobody asked. This is how the North has been filling up our institutions with unqualified persons all these years while Southerners struggle to meet and beat the stipulated qualifications. Buhari should just do the needful, the game is up!

I NEED A REASONABLE DEFENCE TO THIS PROVISION OF LAW BELOW:

A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if he has
presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

    ……SECTION 137 (1) 1999 CONSTITUTION

    • General Buhari, did you commit perjury by filling the Army Form 1999A
shortly after 18th October 1961, wherein you intentionally but falsely wrote that
you had obtained specific credits in English, Geography, History, and, Hausa
(with a pass in English Literature) when, in fact, you did not sit for any WAEC
examination as of the date you filled that Army Form, or at any time afterwards,
which (inferred) perjury was compounded by the affidavit you swore in the year
2015, stating falsely on oath that you sat for WAEC exam in 1961 and got
WASC certificate – being an intentionally false statement; and, tantamount to perjury,
in so far as you never sat for WAEC exam or obtained any score in any subject?

    • Fijabi

      @ Encore:

      Without a doubt Muhahhadu Buhari is in soup, but not because he doesn’t have school cert;
no, but for filling out INEC FORM and stating in writing that he has WASC – a specific certificate.
Whereas, Buhari didn’t sit for school certificate exam and he NEVER obtained WASC since 1961.

Buhari strayed into criminal circle when he simultaneously swore on oath that he has WASC.
As acronym, WASC means West African School Certificate, a specific type of school certificate.
Under Nigerian law false swearing on oath is a criminal offence and it disqualifies a candidate.

    • Duru

Yeparipa, na wa for dem o! Buhari just sat in his house
and started giving himself C6, C5, C4 and so on,
and this same Buhari now gave himself P7 in Literature
He then swore affidavit on Holy Koran that he passed WAEC!

    • George Ager.A

According to the letter from the Army attaced in this article, form 199A was filled at the point of documentation after commisssion into the service. So this entry was made after he was commissioned into the offcer Cadre of the Army.He just quoted his exam number while back in a press release(Cambridge/wasc number 8280002) I am sure this can be independently verififed.

All interpretations and citations are contained in the constituition.
The interpretation section states thus:”School Certificate or its equivalent” means

  • George Ager.A

GMB has just made availbale his Cambridge/wasc number 8280002. Those who want to verify can go ahead and do that. He has requested from his school to provide a copy of his WASC. We hope he will get to it before PDP!

    • BankyMons

You can write an examination but will not have a certificate, is that too difficult for you to understand? How come there is no copy of the said result anywhere in the world not even WASC? We are no fools, let the DPP prosecute him for perjury – aka lying under oath. GEJ and PDP has nothing to do with this, it is him who set himself up for this.

      • George Ager.A

The constituition does not stipulate that he must pass the exam. Besides, the essence of providing the Exam number is for independent verification.

        • BankyMons

You guys keep amazing, any wonder why Nigeria ranks highest on the advance fee fraud all over the world? The only evidence that you attained a particular level of education is the certificate/degree/diploma obtained at end of such programme. This is a universal thing and not just for Nigeria. The only way will know that he attended secondary school and finished over 53 years ago when more than 65% Nigerians who are currently living were not born is the certificate. He is not going to get out of this just wait and see. There is what is called certified true copy and he should have sort and obtain that (assuming he has a certificate at all) before submitting his form. He is suppose to do that within seven days for your information. See the constituion + the electoral act as amended and not just the constitution. The APC and its handlers are just brandishing the constitution to illiterate and uninformed Nigerians without any mention of the electoral act as amended.

          • George Ager.A

In press release a while back,he said in Katsina that he has applied for another copy from his school. Let us wait for that. Like i said early, the WASC number is for independent verification. If you verify independently then i am sure you will rest your case that he is not WASC qualified.

          • BankyMons

Ha! When did schools begin to issue WASC? Sorry gentleman that is an insult to ask any Nigerian to verrify his results? He needed to have to submitted his documents (certificates inclusive) as required by the relevant sections of the constitution and other acts of parliament. It is he (Buhari) who wants to become President of Nigeria, why should I be the one to do his duties for him? Like I said in my previous posts, nobody asked him for his examination number why is he giving us that? It is ludicruous that he couldn’t remember where his certificates were but can remember his number for an exam he purportedly sat for over half a century ago! He only needs to submit his certificates and again he has been found out and this is the end of the road for him. He has hanged himself with his own rope. Go read my other posts in this article. I sat for WAEC less than 25 years ago and I can’t never remember my exam number except I look it up in my WASC, how and where then did he get his number from? It is important to remember what the army said yesterday, what they have in their records is a recommendation letter from his school principal and I ask how come a letter could found but important docs like certificates, results notification slips were not in that same file? Anybody with 2 brain cells knows that if their WASC is missing, they applied to WAEC for a certified true copy of the original, why didnt Mr Buhari do that before he submitted his application forms? His former employers have no case in this, he only brought them in so he can cause distraction and confusion and then buy time. But again he has been found out sorry.

          • George Ager.A

Bro, 1.Buhari has met the requirements of the Electoral Act and the Nigerian Constituition i refer you to both documents, read and digest all sections relevant to qualifications and submissions of information.2. No one is directly asking you to go and do a check on his behalf.I have stated this earlier, the essence of providing his EXAM number is for independent verification so that in case guys like you claim what ever he presents (he has applied to his school) is fake.3. I wrote my exams too about the same time you did and i can still remember my number, the freedom number i wrote on my shirt! do you want it for independent verification i can provided ASAP? 4. The question of the certificate not being found in the file is to be put to the Nigerian Army not Buhari. If your university file (assuming you attended no dis-respect intended) is opened today and your qualification documentation is not found who do put the question of its whereabouts to? Note that Buhari has never said that his certificates are missing, he had stated earlier that they were with the Army.During the 1985 coup, his residence was ransacked and co,items were confisicated and he was sent to jail.He belives they hold his documents.

          • BankyMons

That’s absolute nonsense! There is no point continuing this debate, let’s wait and see. But for the very last time, if the army seized his certificate as you claimed here because he (Buhari) has never mentioned that in his speech today. The honourable thing to do is for Buhari to collect the certified true copy from WAEC and attach to his forms. For your information he is required to attach documents that evidence his qualifications (at least for the required minimum qualification). The Nigerian army has no dog in this fight, Mr Buhari is just trying to use that excuse to buy time. And again, schools in Nigeria do not issue WASC or SSSC in case you forgot that.
Oh and yes, without running the risk of being accused of immodesty, I hold four University degrees including the highest degree a University can award anywhere in the world!

          • George Ager.A

I shall close the debate as you wish. I never said schools issued or issue certificates. Schools have copies of statements of results and certificates.
What are you doing with 4 degrees anyway? or are you a PHD holder in zoology? just joking!

          • BankyMons

Are you a prophet? lol. Honestly I don’t give a flying duck who wins elections or who leads Nigeria. All I want is fairness and good governance. There is something beautiful about democracy and that is what we are doing now. You remember that we couldn’t do this under the best military government one will ever dream of. Democracy gives us 4 years to access our actions and then make changes if need be. So peradventure Buhari becomes Nigerian president come May 29, we have the coming four years to learn and make corrections. So whatever happens we should be wise to allow democracy to continue. This is my two cents. Have a good day.

          • George Ager.A

            One love!

          • reiffa

Really! So you had this in you and all the while acting like a diehard bigot, convicting someone in your backyard moot court on the basis of speculation, as if someone had dangled a share of 21 billion before your eyes. The one language we ought to speak is truth, integrity and ability to vote out bad, corrupt government evrytime. We dont want to hear sentiments, ethnoreligious bigotry and stomach infrastructure at work.

          • BankyMons

You have the choice to moderate your language now please. If you are not going to be civil do not comment on posts again! This is a stern warning to you. You can check my posts on Disqus, I engage in mature and enlightened debate. Your problem in Nigeria is that you try to shut up debate and any dissenting voice must be an opposition. What made you think and say that because I was demanding for Buhari’s certificate, I must have shared in 21 billion loot? And I must be a diehard bigot? For your information, I don’t have voter’s card and I am not a member of any party (this is for personal reason that I can’t disclose here). It is shameful that any Nigerian is supporting a man who is a stark illiterate to lead us in 21st century. GEJ is bad but I have no adjective to qualify Buhari’s case. What do you guys know about governance more especially on a global scale? The strong western countries determine what happens in most developing countries and having a man like Buhari as President will send us back to the colonial days. It does not matter whether you are Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba, Igbo or Tiv, the negative effect will be equal on everyone of us. To be honest you don’t want me to come down very hard on you here on cif. If try spouting garbage on my posts again, I will take you out of this place platform.

          • reiffa

I really wish you hadnt mentioned the 4 university degrees. Because thats where the story gets sadder. What’s the point in having degrees which do not reflect in your disposition, speech and arguments? Case in point is GEJ with a PhD yet reasons like a toddler. And Dame Patience who also claims to have some kind of tertiary education yet cannot correctly construct a sentence in English, worse still, behaves like a complete illiterate.

          • BankyMons

Of all that I said in that post the only thing you got was the 4 degrees? I had to mention it because that guy was being sarcastic in his post, I am going to delete it now. But its your right to say anything you want after all we are on cif.

          • blueeyedkitten

young man, go to court now….since you have enough evidence to nail buhari. and while you’re filing your case, make sure you include inec for unlawfully admitting general buhari as a candidate for the election. goodluck with your endevour.

      • MB

WEAC office is in Nigeria. Today under the leadership of crooks they can seal the weac office or ramshackle even before their claims. Why are they not disputing the ones not under the control of Nigerian criminals like your uncle? grow up, wind of change has blown and the chicken’s ass will be exposed for the whole world to see.

    • Sufiano

How many secondary schools keep documents for that long in Nigeria? I doubt if I, a much younger person than Buhari can succeed in getting mine from my secondary school. I also wonder if there was WASC during Buhari’s time. I think what they had then was Cambridge.

      • George Ager.A

I went to catholic secondary school and my school was set up in 1964. We have a record store where all previous records are stored. As far back as 1990 my principal (the only principal of the school till date) an irish stored records on computers. All wasc/ssce result sheets can still be found there. The school is called Mount saint Gabriel secondary school Makurdi and still standing firm. Buhari said in a press release that he sat for cambridge wasc

      • pure2mind

Sometimes I tend to suspect fowl play in the way buhari handled his certificate case? I have most times tried to picture the same senerio using myself as the subject i wonder why he had to take this approach. I have practice this same senerio with over 15 persons who I know are graduates and all responsed differently from the way Buhari is responding.

This issue should have giving GMB an edge if he responded well. But, to my surprise and that of many Nigeria it is believe that he did not have WACE, although many still want him to contest.

  • abbadd

All this GEJs deceit and lies as usual wii not work the American college were buhari attended is ready to vouch and defend him. Wether they like it or not buhari is not only academically qualified but also an experienced candidate who can solve Nigeria’s challenges unlike other that know only how to steal money and kill the masses.

  • Observer

    BUHARI :
“I am the above-named person and deponent to this affidavit therein. All my academic qualifications, documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary, Military Board as of the time of presenting this affidavit. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purposes,”

    NIGERIAN ARMY :
We dont have it because you did not submit it.

Public office lies are a fraud. Prosecute & jail b4 the virus spreads.

    • BankyMons

It is left for the DPP to arrest Mr Buhari, charge and prosecute for lying under oath. It is called perjury guys in simple legal terms.

  • DecodeDaRiddle

The army is behaving badly here I guess. First they say they have copies of his documents like every other officer, then they say it was not the culture to ask for the copies back then till the 80s.
Buhari had accused the army that after he was overthrown, they ransacked his house and took valuables alongside his documents. He stands on the basis that they took his documents illegally and the man has held the position that since it was illegally taken, he will not beg for it. He has however requested for his file and as you may have noticed, some are even ripped at the edges, an indication of improper filling.
WAEC should debunk that he passed or sat for the exams and the consequent grades he wrote. That he swore that the army has his papers is indicative that he is not in possession after they were illegally taken.
The argument thus is this: If the testimonial of principal and his attestation was good enough for the army as entry qualification while he obtained the form, he met their condition and went ahead to excel.
According to relevant section of the constitution and electoral act, he is qualified. According to his affidavit, he has not perjured himself by saying his documents are with the army since his house was ransacked and valuables taken illegally.
Nigeria needs to move on. If in doubt of his grades, let someone ask WAEC for validation and that will suffice the naysayers.
If only we go this length for good governance, we wont be where we are today. PDP and this government that refused to be accountable for $20B audit now has the temerity to ask for a person’s certificate. What a shame.

    • pure2mind

WAEC said he is the only person that can request for his result. pls can you ask him to please request, Nigerians seriously need to know the truth.
What we i tell a younger pupil if I find him/her cheating during an examination? Stop it is not good and what do thing he/she will reply me. ????????
We seriously need to get to final root of this issue?

  • wode

May your road be rough. That’s exactly what is happening to GMB. It’s not easy to unseat an incumbent Government. They will go any mile to place stumbling blocks. However, it’s the Will of God that will ultimately prevail. In this case, it seems God and the people are with this man. Let PDP continue expressing the pang of their inevitable death. It’s natural. The change is just around the corner.

    • BankyMons

Let him bring ‘Oluwale’ and he will still be disqualified. You guys do not under that in legal terms Buhari has committed perjury for lying uner oath and that is a matter for DPP to arrest him immediately and prosecute him for that. Because in Nigeria we do not understand what it means to live in a civil society we take everything with levity.Even Buhari who wants lead a democratic Nigeria does seem to understand that either. And this is the change you guys are looking for, shame on all you who called good evil and evil good. Mr Buhari’s bubble has burst sorry you can’t do nothing against it. Keep blaming PDP and GEJ, in Nigeria we dont like to take responsibility for our own actions and inactions and this is why we are in such a mess, it is always some else’s fault. Again shame on Mr Buhari and his co-travellers.

      • MB

    “Buhari and the certificate issue

    At our editorial board
meeting yesterday, this issue came up. I was privileged to have in the
board very erudite legal luminary Chris Akiri and Prof.Ajayi among
others. I am the least educated in that board, but what I lack in
education, I make up in being a fast learner. I have learnt from them
far more than I got from Nsukka.

At the end of deliberation, it was clear that contrary to general ( but uninformed) opinion, General Buhari is doubly qualified to contest even if he did not attend secondary school if we follow the provisions of our Constitution.

However, the sang was the affidavit he deposited with INEC.

He has to prove that as at the time he claimed that his certificates
were indeed with the Secretary of Army Board. If not, he has lied
under oath. Which in itself can disqualify him from running. That
was not all. My learned friends equally highlighted that he must before
the expiration of the date allotted for this, present to INEC those
certificates in whatever acceptable format as required by the electoral
act as amende” This is what a very senior lawyer has to say on this issue. He is in hot water and he knows it.

    • D1

You and your legal luminary are Jokers! What was the first statement from the Military secretary?

  • Observer

    NIGERIAN ARMY:
“His application was duly endorsed by the principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him suitable for military commission.”
“It is a practice in the Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the service; the selection board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented. However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed …”

    QUESTION:
    1. What is the name of the principal? It must be on that document he endorsed for Buhari.
    2. What are the names of the board members who verified Buhari’s supposed claims?
    3. Where are these people (School Principal & Result verification Board members)

If the Principal and all Board member in 1961 are dead, then let’s speak to his classmates. If they are all dead too, then lets speak to the Head of WAEC in 1961. If he is dead too, then someone should wake them up. We must see the end of this matter. There is nowhere to hide.

    • M Bukar

Please can you verify if people do form 6 in those days or is just a flop in their desperation to discredit Buhari?

NA OVER INTEGRITY DEY WORRY BUHARI

    Presidential
candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, has
finally broken his silence on the school certificate issue.

Buhari, in an address to the press on Wednesday, January 21,
categorically stated that he attended Provincial Secondary School,
Katsina, where he obtained a Cambridge/West African School Certificate.

The erstwhile head of state, said he has requested for a copy of the
result from his old school, and once it is available, he would present
    it to the world.

Buhari said: “I only consented to address you this morning because of
the genuine concern expressed by many supporters and other well-meaning
Nigerians that the issue be addressed. Otherwise, I would have dismissed
it for what it is; ‘sheer mischief’, and would not have considered it
an issue worth the nation’s while.”

“I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of the
Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now
told that although a record of the result is available, there are no
copies of the certificates in my personal file. This is why I formally
requested my old school the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina [which
is now known as Government College, Katsina] to make available the
school’s copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School
Certificate. This will be made available to the press the moment this is
    available.”

“However, before we obtain that, let me say for the record that I
attended Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. I graduated in 1961 with
many prominent Nigerians, including General Shehu Yar’adua, former chief
of staff at the Supreme Headquarters, and Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a
former President of the Court of Appeal. We sat for the University of
Cambridge/WASC Examination together in 1961, the year we graduated. My
examination number was 8280002, and I passed the examination in the
    Second Division,” the statement added.

Furthermore, Buhari bemoaned the fact that a certificate “obtained 53
years ago” has become the major talking point in a political campaign,
that should ordinarily be centered on pertinent issues.

He said: “And although the ruling party may want to wish this away, the
issue in this campaign cannot be my certificate which I obtained 53
years ago. The issues are the scandalous level of unemployment of
millions of our young people, the state of insecurity, the pervasive
official corruption which has impoverished our people and the lack of
concern of the government for anything other than the retention of power
    at all costs.

If we have use same zeal and pursued all our missing monies ($10billion, $20billion, $9million….) and contract papers made open the way Buhari is been made to now show his records , we would have gone very far as a nation.

    • D1

Not only that, if GEJ used the same zeal, with the Military to fight Boko Haram, we won’t be where we are today!

  • And certificates suddenly became so important in Nigeria!.. there is God oh! Many Nigerians with plentyllions of certificates are roaming the streets, riding okada because nobody wants to employ us and our certificates. Nobody wants to equip our institutions so that we merit the ‘certificates’ we carry, instead they term us half-baked. Why build more universities when you can equip the existing ones. there is God ooo.

  • the cat is out the bag, it cant be hidden , what change will buhari bring, GEJ has done better than any of them , even when buhari was there, well be wise , dont give buhari the dictator chance to repeat thesame thing

    • Change2015

Where is this cat Mr. Olushola? The fact that pdp focused their campaign on a certificate which has now been produced. Can you explain in detail what exactly GEJ has done to deserve another four years. The nation is still corrupt, our economy is declining, unemployment is high, Chibok girls still missing, $20 billion is still unaccounted for? so please tell me how GEJ is worth another four years. God Bless Nigeria!

          • @post_nigeria

So why release 9 pages of rubbish documents, when u could just release one page of the result? or have u not asked yourself that?

        • D1

Are you daft? Have you checked the statement of results released by his school? Go ask GEJ to produce his own credentials and Phd thesis, if he can? Buffoon!
What certificate is given after Secondary, if not statement of results, even by WAEC. Ode

          • Debo

I have checked and its even more spurious.
By the way, WAEC gives certificate with a minimum condition of a pass in one subject, otherwise they will give a statement of result. Maybe you didnt get one because you scored a flat F9.

          • D1

            F9? Lol!
You probably don’t know who you are talking to, if you do, you won’t be yapping nonsense.
I’m not surprised, that you are full of mischief, being a GEJ e-rat. All you have in your arsenal, is ‘awada’, that’s what you guys have been turned to, ZOMBIES with your mind set at zero.
You have no sense of dignity, masturbating to certificate palaver, whilst neglecting real issues bedeviling the nation.
Keep chasing your tail, till the dusk is set.

          • Debo

Sorry o, Buhari e-goat! I didnt realise my comment will get to you this much. On this forum, who you are is what you post, thats all that matters – not too difficult to sum up going by some of your comments i have read. Essentially speaking, you have sweet-talked without making any sense let alone address the issue of whether WAEC issues certificate or not. I kind of like the sound of that “e-rat” thing though, very creative and keeps me laughing anytime i see it – whatever it means.

          • D1

            I’m not ruffled one bit!
You guys are the ones being entertained with issues that are inconsequential and nonsensical. It’s a pity, that a grown man like you, Debo, from Yoruba stock, could reason like a creek monkey.
            Enough said!

          • Debo

Creek monkey! I didnt see that coming. I reason only on the line of objectivity, reality and logic rather than along ethnic lines. You dont come across to me as an intelligent person at all; inspite of all my efforts to avoid the introduction of personal jibes into this discussion, you still went ahead stupidishly. You habour a lot of hatred in you and you are just letting it off carelessly. Making you sound like more like someone that had an accident that affected your brain while you were growing up. You are a classical example of someone who is on the wrong road and moving with the speed of light; you will never get there! See how PDP goons and e-rats are discussing Buhari’s certificate with glee, masturbating frantically to it. Should we be surprise? No, cos they have nothing to offer, issue based campaign turned to comics and jokes, and they are glorifying in it. Just mere distractions to keep us occupied from GEJ’S gaffes.
The recent one is, ‘HE WILL OFFER FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT’ if voted in, from someone that can’t confidently visit chibok and Bornu, that has avoided Eagles square for the past 4 years until recent. Laughable really!

Buhari’s story does not add up

“Shehu Musa Yar Adua joined the Army in 1959, aged 17, and so,
how could Muhammadu Buhari have passed out with Shehu Yar’Adua
from the Katsina Provincial secondary school in 1961?

Does it then mean Shehu Yar;Adua was still in secondary school
when he joined the army? They obviously never joined the Army
    in the same year.

Shehu Yar’Adua was even senior to Buhari in rank. Shehu Yar’Adua was born
on 5th March 1943, in Katsina, British Nigeria, and died 8th December 1997
(aged 54), whilst Buhari was born in 1941 and he joined the Army, aged 20”.

    ……………….Musa Yaro

    • mstysmt

      Stop Chatting shit

Buhari is December 1942. Shehu is March 1943. Same academic year dimwit

All you have to do is google what year Shehu Musa Yar’Adua was born (1943). by 1961 (age 17 turning 18) he joined the military.

      • Rockson

Date of birth is not so much the issue as the military record confirming
that Shehu Yar’Adua completed his own military training in 1958/1959.

        • pure2mind

i support you, the documents/result seriously did not add up, Sometimes I wonder if they don’t know that some Nigerians are educated.
          (1). How
can the date of a signature be earlier than the period of review. Check document 4 presented the report was stated to cover Jan
1956 to Dec. 1961, but the signature underneath is dated “18 October, 1961.”

(2). It was stated in the same document 4 that He entered in 1954 and spent the normal 6yrs, by my calculation his 6yrs of school calender suppose to end in Dec 1959. not 61

So many things don’t add up. My question is do we as Nigeria really want to fight corruption? I pray God help us.

Thank you premium times for sharing this.

  • Tunde

The back and front of the military on this matter is a testimony to the corruption and incompetence that have eroded the
Nigerian Amy. I guess I should not be surprised considering this is their hallmark on the fight against Boko Haram.

  • Akib Abiola

You people are desperate. When does hand written notes constitutes WASC by WAEC?

  • YorubaVoice

Some in this forum asked they can see the WASC. I can’t see it either. But it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t want PhD holders with oppression and insensitivity; just give me kindergartner with missing certificate. If he can just assure me my future, then I’m safe.
Look, it all shows that 1960’s cert is more productive than 1990’s(?) PhD. If you don’t believe me, ask Jonathan what PhD really stands for: is it not Philosophy in Doctorate …Laugh!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ajayi Ifayemi

Of interest to me is the fact that this man has always been a leader. Not only did he complete the secondary school and passed his WASC. The notation on his form also indicated that he was the head boy of the school. I am satisfied with all that has been released. Those who are not satisfied can either go to court or go jump in a lake somewhere. It is their prerogative.

  • uduakomiri

We want to see Gej’s certificate oh…we should subject his Ph.D. to public scrutiny now that we have seen Buhari’s record. Is it not a bit surprising that Buhari who attended a secondary school in far away North, the so-called educationally backward corner o Nigeria could speak better, clearer, more understandable and correct English than a so-called lecturer and Ph.D. holder in Zoology?
Ph.D actually means a doctor of philosopy, someone who is able to think and communicate ideas and be able to analyse and comprehend complex concepts, someone who is intellectually sound, a master of knowledge in his area of studies and also a well versed intellectual able to grasp and express clearly in a concise manner complex logic. Jonathan is none of these, and as such we must begin to ask questions. This Jonathan is no better than an average primary school pupil both in his grasp of the English language and even his understanding of basic logic and reasoning. It is shocking that he can’t even speak proper English, he is unable to express himself in English which leaves one to wonder whether he obtained his Ph.D in ‘broken’ English.
    Show us your certificates Jonathan!!!!

    • D1

      Seconded here!

  • Haruna Birniwa

Thank you very much, Premium Times.

  • Gaskiya

Jonathan’s PhD may be scam. Let us see the copies of the thesis and publications resulting from such thesis. Which journal has published Jonathan’s publications? Or is this the typical Nigerian PhD that can not even be read??? Please we need to see the following components of the thesis as soon as possible.

    1. Abstract
    2. Introduction
    3. Literature Reviews
    4. Materials and Methods
    5. Results
    6. Discussion
    7. Conclusion
    8. Recommendations
    9. References
    10. One or two publications resulting from the thesis.

In fact, any 2 of the above suffice.

    • D1

Seconded! That is the next agenda, since PDP has turned the electioneering campaign to entertainment! GEJ must show his Phd thesis!

Contradiction in Document 4 and tampering of document 5

    1. document 4 presented the report was stated to cover Jan 1956 to Dec. 1961,

but the signature underneath is dated “18 October, 1961.”

    2. In the same document 4 it was stated that He enrolled in 1954 and spent
the normal 6yrs, by my calculation his 6yrs of school calender suppose
to end in Dec 1959. not 61 except if there was 2yrs strike.

    3. Document 5 can not be accepted because it has been tampered with. in the print there was no evidence of the date the letter was sent and tearing suspects intention to hide valauble information.

Why can’t GMB just write cambridge WACE and request for his result, I sure they will have a clean genuie and trusted result.
and this whole issue will end.

    • Enemona

See yaself? Nobody thinks you’re worthy of any reply except me. I am even ashamed of posting this response.

  • Bidemi Lukman

    Outdated!!!! Story don change

  • Etomi

    What’s all this???
    Where is the result????
Only saw assurance that he would pass his WASC…
Also saw he has credits in certain subjects without indication of the grades…
    Conclusion: NO INFORMATION!!!!

    My respect, sir.

Respectfully, I have to concur with the Professor, on this write up. Absolutely. However, there is one thing the Professor apparently reflected little on concerning the way forward. I am reminded of the story of Elijah who complained to God that he was the only faithful one in Israel and thus the Almighty should destroy the land. The Lord’s response was epic,’I know 7000 who have not bowed their knees to other gods’. I know, I have confident knowledge that the visible patroits are scarcely seen now due to the fog of corruption; the wheat is lost in chaff, and the gold in dross, till the sifting, refining, separation is done. The refining has started, the patroits will conquer.
