Nigeria blasts America, says U.S has let Nigeria down in war against Boko Haram

Disappointed by the refusal of the United States to help Nigeria procure military weapons to combat Boko Haram, the federal government has now openly expressed its dissatisfaction with the American government decision, arguing that the Americans were letting Nigeria down at her hour of need, Empowered Newswire reports.

Speaking Monday while receiving a delegation of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations, the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Professor Ade Adefuye said both the Nigerian people and the government feel abandoned by America.

According to Mr. Adefuye “I am sad to inform you that the Nigerian leadership: military and political, and even the general populace, are not satisfied with the scope, nature and content of the United States’ support for us in our struggle against terrorists.”

Continuing, the Nigerian envoy stated that “we find it difficult to understand how and why in spite of the U.S. presence in Nigeria with their sophisticated military technology, Boko Haram should be expanding and becoming more deadly”.

Reviewing the situation further, Mr. Adefuye said that at first, Nigeria had problems with the manner in which intelligence was being shared, adding that even though the U.S. Government claims that the problem has been addressed, “it is still there”.

Categorically, Mr. Adefuye stated that “the U.S. Government has up till today refused to grant Nigeria’s request to purchase lethal equipment that would have brought down the terrorists within a short time on the basis of the allegations that Nigeria’s defence forces have been violating human rights of Boko Haram suspects when captured or arrested.”

Indeed the US government had equally explained that it would not be selling military weapons to Nigeria due to human rights allegations against the Nigerian military.

But Mr. Adefuye, in his meeting with the Council on Foreign Relations, dismissed such allegations.

Mr. Adefuye noted that Nigeria and the United States have had a long standing and healthy relationship reinforced by existing economic and geo-political realities. However he said in recent times “Nigeria has had reasons to complain about the style, nature and manner with which some United States’ policies are implemented with particular reference to terrorism in Nigeria.“

He said the United States was the first to respond to Nigeria’s call for support in its battle against terrorists and has remained a major pillar of support in the struggle against the terrorists.

But he said it is a sad commentary that right now inspite of the U.S. presence and help in Nigeria Boko Haram is becoming more deadly.

Alleging that the US might have been reacting upon claims from the opposition media with sympathy for opposition parties, Adefuye insisted that the allegations could not be substantiated as many of the allegations were meant to “embarrass the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Professor Adefuye further emphasised that allegations of human rights violation are based on rumours, hearsays and exaggerated accounts of clashes between the Nigerian forces and Boko Haram fighters.

He cited an example of an incident that happened in Baga in 2013, when human rights groups and the opposition press reported that based on pictures taken from satellite, over 1600 houses were destroyed in a village that has less than 600 houses.

Besides, Mr. Adefuye stated regarding the video reports of human rights violations involving attacks on women and children purported to have been carried out by Nigerian soldiers in Boko Haram affected areas that those activities were carried out by Boko Haram members wearing stolen Nigerian army uniforms.

He explained that disguise and subterfuge are standard practices of insurgent groups; and that the Chibok abduction of our school girls by Boko Haram succeeded because the girls thought that they were being carried to safety by soldiers of the Nigerian army.

The Nigerian Ambassador said opinions on human rights violations by Nigerian defence forces are biased and are not subjected to the necessary verification.

He went on to say that the Boko Haram issue is becoming heavily politicized especially with the approach of the general elections in 2015. Opposition media, he said, provide half-truths, exaggerated accounts which are then aired by the foreign media, forming the basis of reports sent to the capitals of Western nations.

He, therefore, implored the embassies of western nations based in Nigeria to check and re-check their facts, and not use half-truths and rumours as the basis of their reports and recommendations to their capitals.

He argued that the alleged violations are unfortunately the basis of U.S.’ refusal to sell necessary lethal equipment to Nigeria in order to fight Boko Haram.

The Nigerian ambassador then implored the Council on Foreign Affairs to put pressure on the US State Department and the US Department of Defence to re-examine the basis of their refusal to sell equipment to Nigeria, insisting that Boko Haram threatens Nigeria’s corporate existence and territorial integrity.

“A stable and secure Nigeria is an invaluable asset to America,” Mr. Adefuye said.

Shameless government, they blame everybody and everything for their failures. Soon they will blame Sambisa forest for allowing Shekau to live there.

    • Umar Jibril Abdulkadir

Haahhaahah lol that’s typical status quo advocate, it’s time to show his loyalty for him to retain his post after the general election.

    • $20 Billion (dollars) is still unaccounted for at NNPC.

      • Chris1408

With all these atrocities, this good for nothing president is talking of reelection

“Alleging that the US might have been reacting upon claims from the opposition media with sympathy for opposition parties, Adefuye insisted that the allegations could not be substantiated as many of the allegations were meant to “embarrass the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.” – Prof. Adefuye.

      There we go again!

And then, PDP would turn around and claim APC is “politicising” boko haram.

It now blames its failure on the US, which is now ostensibly acting on the behest of APC!!

Blame everyone for your failure. In fact, why not accuse the victims of boko haram for the crime of “dying wrongfully to embarrass Jonothing?

  • Northerner

Why do we need America to tackle BH?
I thought we have the best Military in Africa if i am correct?!

Boko Haram is a long term GEJ and CAN plan to destroy my people!
The dumbest president to ever exist will fall on his knee crying out his ass In 2015!

    • Guest_2

In fact the worse president in the history.

      • Alcindo Satori

… and he’ll rule another 4 years. How do you like that, butt ugly? !

        • Guest_2

@ Alcindo but one day it’ll be a history.

          • Alcindo Satori

  • Dan Fulani

Sambisa a deadly and thick forest in the desert.

  • Olu Ade

America is no Father Christmas like Babangida did for Liberia with ECOMOG. America expects countries like Nigeria, where she has little or no interest to carry their own cross, they will not fight our battle for us. America sees all the corruption, ethic, religious and especially, human right abuse palaver going on in the country.

Imagine what would have happened if the fake cease fire happened during Obasanjo! Heads would have roll and Sambisa Forest would have become Sahara desert by now. We need to get a President with a backbone. END OF DISCUSSION

  • deji

Continuing, the Nigerian envoy stated that “we find it difficult to understand how and why in spite of the U.S. presence in Nigeria with their sophisticated military technology, Boko Haram should be expanding and becoming more deadly”.

    I will suggest two things.
Either relocate Nigeria Presidency seat to Sambisa forest or the US Embassy in Nigeria to Sambisa forest. Somebody is still treating Boko Haram with kids glove……………..

  • Jerry

what of the $1 billion now. Dat one don enter personal pockets. Shameless government

    • $20 Billion (dollars) is still unaccounted for at NNPC.

    • Alcindo Satori

You brain fart!!! The money is meant for purchasing the weapons. But Nigeria is blocked from making the purchase. I know that’s to complex for your brain to comprehend.

      • tundemash

You are really working hard for Reno’s handout today. Olodo !

        • Alcindo Satori

Okay neanderthal! ! Whatever you say bozo the clown. Like I posed before, respond and you’re a moron. No response? You’re a doofus. Choose one!

  • Aboki

Are you all surprised? Believe that America has your country’s interest at heart and believe anything. America government is the most selfish and hypocritical. Whenever America goes to flex muscles it is always because there is something in it for them. Majority of Americans are good people but there is a handful of a cabal that run the government for ungodly reasons. America does not help any country with regional influence and power instead they strive to neutralize the influence.

  • growthengine

No report of the US Council response to the ambassador. Haba. How can the ambassador be admitting that BH stole Nigerian Army Uniform. That is already enough reason not to sell us weapons.

  • KMJA

I don.t think the Americans see the situation as their problem. It is our problem and we have to find the solutions ourselves. .

    • Alcindo Satori

Good statement! But we need weapons to solve it!! Not talk. Talk is cheap!!!

      • Guguru

        Then make your own weapons

      • tundemash

what weapons does Dumbo need to stop him and Modu Sheriff from funding Boko Haram ?
What weapons did the same soldiers use during the Ekiti and Osun state elections ?

  • Comfortkay

This is purely kindergarten statement even when a Nigeria Prof Adefuye made on behalf of PDP led government. If something better cannot come out of their mouth it should be completely shut.

    • Alcindo Satori

The truth hurts doesn’t it. Butt ugly!

      • tundemash

Is crying to America the truth ?

You are so d@ft ! If America will not sell you weapons, how about UK, France, Russia, China ?

What happened to the Defence Industry in Kaduna Dumbo claimed he resuscitated 3 years ago ? Reality is overtaking fantasy for Dumbo and his band of mugu supporters. The whole world is against you … not so ? Everyone is to blame except the Clown of Otuoke ! I am surprised Dumbo has not accused America of sponsoring Boko Haram !

        • Alcindo Satori

Boy! This is ignorance redefined. And if you don’t respond, you’re a moron. It toy do respond, you’re a doofus! Choose one clown!!

    • bikky

The man is a disgrace to the class of professorship, how can Bokoharam unsolved issues be a fault

of America when we decided not to take bull by the horn.Nigeria needs to be sincere before any country support her.

  • Dr. Kay

So Nigeria is now the 51st state of the US abi? These clueless bunch of good for nothing mob wants the U.S. to soil their reputation by harming terrorists indirectly ? Their intelligence network has unmasked who the real Bokoharam is ,and it’s not shekau led ragtag but Dumbo inspired shadowy figures lurking in the underground ,preying ,maiming and creating wanton chaos and destruction in their wake. So wake up Nigerians and smell the coffee , we are on our own and we have to be decisive in sacking these clueless clowns next year.

    • Alcindo Satori

Yoruba double tongue. You should be sacked

      • Dr. Kay

And you should be hired abi? Imbecilic moronic harse hole!you no even have the gut to show which tribe your exposed yansh belongs to , oloshi suegbe oloriburuku .

        • Tonnero

You should know which tribe now. How many talk like that?

          • Dr. Kay

Lol I want the arsehole to expose himself

          • Alcindo Satori

you can’t handle the truth that’s why you sound like a swine – butt hole!!!

          • Alcindo Satori

…and I am as Ibo as you can find. GEJ shall rule 4 more years, like it or not.

        • Alcindo Satori

your mother is a bastard, mongrel pup!!! I don’t need to expose myself to your fart-filled head.

          • Dr. Kay

Mr. Alcindo no need to be abusing our parents on this forum be man enough to direct the abuse straight at me abi you dey fear double tongued Yoruba man? Now that you’ve outed yourself as an Igbo man I wonder why you so obsessed with Dumbo who by the way is a shoeless ijaw man, a Dumbo to the core,I mean ,a clueless clown ,inept and bereft of ideas and innovation.
You see why it’s gonna be difficult for an Igbo man to be Naija president is because slimes like you will rather support someone from another tribe instead of promoting and agitating for an Igbo man. You see bad belle for anything Yoruba or anything Yoruba people supports is something I cannot understand in some Igbo people(before you misquote me ,I said some Igbo people not ALL igbo people) .
The fact that many of us (Yoruba and Igbo )inter marry , share the same religion , think alike and share some cultural similarities ,is not enough . There are some in the Igbo population that will rather see the country implode than see our two tribes unite and speak with one voice.
Let me tell you a secret , the day we both sing from the same hymn sheet and agree without malice or rancour will be the day this country will turn a corner for good . So my friend continue the hating , just know the joke is on you, the Dumbo you are supporting ,list 10 projects he’s successfully completed in his first term? I will help you why not start with electricity.

          • Alcindo Satori

…I am a Nigerian first and foremost and have more Yoruba friends than Ibos (no pun intended). I supported OBJ when he was running for presidency and continued my support until he was done. Point is, I love facts, not emotional outbursts from individuals – doofuses I meant to say. No one denies the fact that Nigeria is at crossroads; I don’t that’s for sure. But what’s the alternative to GEJ? Now that’s the question… Look at the playing field! Believe me, from a vantage position (and I mean it), there’s no better alternative.

          • tundemash

Kay has asked you “list 10 projects he’s successfully completed in his first term?” and you responded with ” what’s the alternative to GEJ? Now that’s the question… Look at the playing field! Believe me, from a vantage position (and I mean it), there’s no better alternative.”

You are a disgrace to common sense if within 160m people, you see no alternative to Dumbo whom you acknowledged has performed below par. Assuming you wouldn’t want Buhari because obviously, you are a ethnic bigot, how about Okorochas ….. are you saying he’s not better than the Dumbo misfit ?

Once again, back to Kay’s query “list 10 projects he’s successfully completed in his first term?”.

          • Alcindo Satori

            Yawn. .. ape!

          • tundemash

No supririse ….. when an e-rat is cornered by superior intelligence, he usually result rto religious/ethnic jargons or runs !!!!

      • tundemash

f00l is the ambassador Adefuye not a Yoruba man ? Or is it because he’s supporting Dumbo that makes a different yoruba man?

Only an id10t like you resolves all issues to ethnicity !

        • Alcindo Satori

Yawn. … Wake me up when you’re well versed in spoken word!

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are unbelievably and pitifully ignorant !!

      • Dr. Kay

Sorry oh mr know it all , I wonder why with your know it all persona , Dumbo is still fumbling and waffling and you not helping him out from your bottomless pit of knowledge and Magic . Olodo , dindinrin .

Adefuye is not a professor but a dumb asshole professor who is playing to the gallery because his likes must defend the useless jonathan. The USA refused to sell arms to Nigeria because of Nigeria’s constant continuous human rights abuse of Nigerians but our useless government always deny there is nothing like that which has always been the talking trade of all Nigerian governments especially the clueless irresponsible jonathan government. In 2013, the military got SIX BILLION DOLLARS to prosecute book haram, in 2014, the budget was around N942 Billion plus the One Billion Dollars the useless senate approved for jonathan, so the question begging for answer is what did jonathan spend all these monies on? If Usa and her allies won’t sell arms, what about despotic Russia and fake Chinese? This is not a serious government and the likes of adefuye should shut up and not blame Usa for the crimes against humanity that the jonathan government has committed against the Nigerian state and her people. adefuye is just trying to justify nonsense because jonathan is declaring his immoral second term tomorrow.

    • Alcindo Satori

so book haram should be allowed to overrun the country? is that what you mean??

My brother ask them ! So called progressives ! Crazy people

Our human rights record might not be crisp but wait a second…….what about Egypt where the Egyptian Army killed more than a thousand unarmed civilians protesting against a coup which removed a democratically elected government. The Americans only delayed the delivery of Apache attack helicopters for a few weeks and later approved the delivery of Ten Apache Attack helicopters because they felt Egypt needed them to fight terrorists at the Sainai………what about Bahrain…..what about Saudi-Arabia……? Are our own terrorists different ? or is there something deeper than we know? Nigerians love the USA,I love the USA to bits but it is heart-breaking that it took 3 years for the USA to officially designate the Boko-haram a terrorist organisation even as they were bombing and killing Christians in their places of worship including the Christmas day church bombing and the bombing of the UN building at Abuja which killed international diplomats.
Even if our government is disliked by the present administration at Washinghton, what about the nearly 200 million Nigerians. We have watched with alarm and dismay as President Obama would fly over us to visit our neighbours, what did we do to deserve such cold shoulder from a “friendly”.We always vote and support the west at the UN,Nigeria also supports the western foreign policy positions.
At our time of need we have been abandoned and this will go down in history,Yes we have issues to sort like corruption, bad governance etc but punishing us during a war because we did not observe human rights of captured terrorists is an over-kill. The USA had issues with her renditions,Guantanamo,Abu Graib etc but Nigeria stood by her.

Thanks nothing more to add ! Straight to the point no bulls just the hard facts ! Now watch the way the half-baked semi literate hate filled janjaweed merchants of the vast criminal enterprise asiwaju people congress aka APC bare their fangs like rabid dogs !

        • Dr. Kay

Are you a voyeur? Are you a homosexual ? Why are so fixated on Asiwaju ,is he mentioned at all in the above write up ? Why not just put your points across and let us crush them as you know using the connotation of janjaweed is so lame , we know who the real Janjaweed are ,go ask Dumbo ,he said as much when he said members of his cabinet are Bokoharam janjaweed . You feeling me abi? Sorry if my fang don tear some of your flesh, I assure you my canines are not rabid infested, but it goes for the bigoted lying and confused jugular tearing it to pieces until all the poisoned blood of corruption , egunje and olodoism is removed from una system.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Those who jump around foreign diplomats selling their father-land are a disgrace. No American or European would disgracefully sell out the way the so-called opposition do in the name of opposition politics !!

          • sharp shape

Thanks as usual no intelligent rebuttal to your post ! The usual fringe issue is the specialty of APC supporters ! Nobody can intelligently tell you why America will sell arms to Egypt after they massacre over a thousand demostrators or Saudi Arabia with the most appalling human right record in the middle east or— even Bahrain where the sunni minority is actively eliminating the shite majority ! All they know how to do the tinubu/buharam slaves is insult GEJ even in situations when its clear that GEJ is not at fault !

          • sharp shape

There was no mention or reference about homos in my post ! Now we know that you are not only retarded but you are also a pervert ! An abomination in our African culture ! Better stop practising your demoni* act ! Low life degenerate peasant troll

      • Guguru

        Tawanda,

So, if your neighbor killed a stray cat, does that justify you killing a stray dog? This is the crux of your argument.

      • Mamapikin

Have you heard that Egyptian troop units abandoned these weapons supplied them to terrorists? You know the value of a single shoulder fired stinger weapons in the hands of a terrorist group? The Nigerian government is directly speaking, the biggest donor of arms, money and men to boko haram. When you alienate and divide people along ethno-religious lines, when you deliberately miscieviously and openly accuse a regional government or regional government s of being sponsors, just to make them politically irrelevant and loosen the grip of moral and physical authority in territories they preside over, what do you expect the peasant youths to do when boko haram come to conscript them physically? When all boko haram’s weapons were seized from regular units of the army, what do you expect. You talk of Egypt. You wanna compare Nigeria’s army as it is now with Egyptian army?
You know what? We heard all these before. Samuel Doe said as much as his Armed Forces of Liberia was being whipped in battle after battle by the NPLF. He tried to blackmail, he cajoled, he flattered, he threatened and finally begged America because they helped to found the republic of Liberia. But he was ignored
        History repeats itself on cycles.

        • sharp shape

The simple solution is separation ! Think about it you get your own caliphate ! The rest of us get our own democracy and secular society where your religious beliefs is confined to you and your family ! In our neck of the woods government money will not be spent on any religious exercise no christian laws or Islamic laws all that will be personal ! Think about it you go your way we go our way period !

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Your analogy did not fall in line with the issue at stake here however it is worthy to remind you that those who sought to impose Sharia on a secular state and deploy Islam as a weapon of politics caused the greatest polarization in Nigerian society and radicalised poor Almajeris to use as canon fodder.
I advise you to think more broadly and stop your beer-palour analysis !

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Tawanda, if it hurts that much, and knowing that the boko haram commanders are in PDP, why not ask them to bomb the US embassy in Abuja?

Perhaps then, that might wake America up from the slumber and make them do the work for which Jonothing was elected.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

          Shameless Scallywag !!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

You forgot that I am not Mr. Jonothing?

It’s him you need to address your ire to, not me!

    • sharp shape

Who are you ? Do you even have the credentials Adefuye’s students have !

  • UNAFFECTED

There is nothing more refreshing than living in a country with a government filled with individuals who never take responsibility for anything. I was a journalist covering the Boko Haram crisis in 2009 and watched in absolute horror as mobile policemen and soldiers shot children on the street. I saw them shoot a 12 year old who was in crutches and sitting in front of an uncompleted building. When I challenged them, a soldier said he will shoot me and label me one of them. Even after Al-Jazeera aired a video of these atrocities; even when the Internet is flooded with videos of these atrocities, all we get from the government is denial. Policemen and soldiers will run away from those they are supposed to fight and whenever they catch their breath, they rain bullets on bystanders and label them Boko Haram. Now Adefuye is blaming the US over a decision taken in 2004 by the US Congress not to give funds or sell weapons to Nigeria over the killings in Benue. Come to think of it, France, UK, Russia all sell arms why not buy from them? Going by comments on this page, it is clear that Nigerians are evolving beyond their government. That too is so refreshing.

    • sharp shape

Stop your crap ! Hatred for GEJ and extreme prejudice and bigotry will soon choke you !

      • tundemash

Yeah right … America also hates Jona the dumb !

        • sharp shape

Your sarcasm means nothing ! It amazing how you APC revisionist think you have the right to insult the president your leader whether you like him or not ! Meanwhile your insults are not even based on facts ! The real dumbo buhari a semi literate bigot gets a free pass from your clan of hyenas ! Look we don’t have to be one country why can’t we agree that this silly union is not working and go our separate ways ! There are plenty of precedents ! Yugoslavia , Czec
Republic former USSR etc ! Get it into your thick skull we don’t have to be a single country !

          • Guguru

But Jonathan has been insulting himself with the lies he has been telling since he came to power. For example, he said in Turkey that he would not run for election again. His direct statement was captured in a Vanguard article.

If you and Jonathan do not want Nigeria to be a single country, then why don’t you all come out and say so rather than paying for the unnecessary death of innocent Nigerians? Does it make sense going our separate ways on the back of aimless violence?

          • sharp shape

What about your buhari that cried and vowed on camera that he will never contest any election ? I have never seen a post in which you condemned him ! Jonathan is an allegation that the accusers must show us the proof while buhari was on camera for all to see ! Why the double standards ! Why

          • Guguru

            Sharp,

If you produce the camera where this Buhari crying you talk about occurred, I will produce the newspaper article where Jonathan lied to Nigerians.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

As far as Jonathan is concerned,he reserves the right to change his mind and he is not breaking any law when it comes to contesting….better get ready to hang because he is gonna win !!
Your pain is bound to increase,he will be replaced by no Fulani goon either after 2019 !

          • Guguru

But when you change your mind so often, you become inconsistent and by extension, incoherent. This is a bad attribute to have as a leader. And, In fact, it is a reason why Boko Haram has not been defeated. Jonathan’s inconsistency is a problem. Boko Haram knows this and is taking advantage of it.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Any time you guys are tired you call your boys to order. No amount of blackmail will shake the SS/SE.

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Nobody wants to shake the SS/SE. US shale oil will do the shaking of the SS once it they start exporting it. Why would anyone want to shake a region where the air is so polluted with hydrocarbons being released into the air? No one is interested in a region where the life expectancy is much lower than in a region like Sokoto state which has cleaner air, lots of agricultural produce and a relatively stress free life.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Igbo man was always sidelined from Nigerian oil and gas since the end of the war 1970 by the Abokis who stole the country blind. Check the list of Nigerian oil millionaires and billioniares, you will find Abokis and their Youruba looting accomplices. We depend on our hard work ingenuity, dexterity to survive and we strongly believe that if we could control our destiny as per policies,we do not need oil.
Having made my point we have enough untapped oil and gas in three Igbo states to last for many decades.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Oh ! how happy you must be that “America hates your President”. OYA, THREE HAPPY CHEERS…..hip….hip…hip

          Bufoon !!

          • Ide4u

Americans don’t hate GEJ, they just despise him because they know what the heck GEJ is doing being the president of Nigeria

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Speak for yourself !! do not speak for the American people !

          • Gaskiya

Nobody is happy because Jonathan is being despise, people just felt vindicated that America is informing him what they have been telling him. Let him take right actions expected of him and people will like him. It is madness to expect right thinking people accept what is so obviously incorrect.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

No Aboki will control that oil and gas again….are you aware of that? You guys have been in power for almost 40 years but just a few years for the SS and you are going around every embassy dishing out lies to diplomats…….we go see….we dey kamkpe !!

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Sharp shape, please let the truth set you free.

We are all victims of this madness that the federal government has allowed to grow unchecked.

If you truly love Nigeria, ask your fellow party men to go for everybody behind boko haram and not to exclude Mr. Modu or Namadi or Iherjika.

        • sharp shape

Kay the truth is that ! I respect your views but don’t agree with them ! First there is no proof that ihejirika is sponsoring BH ! The APC party only started to call modu Sheriff a terror sponsor after he defected ! Why ? Lastly I hope you are not basing your allegations on the testimony of the discredited Australian goon who by the way did not mention any ones name ! I read the interview and there was no mention of any of the names except perhaps modu Sheriff ! Lastly papa awo vision of a confederacy or outright separation is the best for Nigeria ! We can never be one people not with the kind of mentality and outright bigotry that the core north is displaying ! You pride yourself as someone who stands for the rights of the oppressed ! What about the oppressed people of the Niger delta whose land has been rendered useless by pollution whose water ways has been poisoned by the greedy oligarchy in the north ! Are we supposed to just stand aside and watch ? We are determined to cast off the burden of oppression a group of clueless thugs has placed on us by any means necessary including the use of WMD may Allah determine the winners but most of us who come from this region have vowed that the entire country will go up in flames if the religious bigots in the north continue with their genocide against our people ! Remember Odi ! What happened to the perpetrators of that crime ! See Kay , the entire concept of Nigeria is a fraud and we want out ! We also wish those who want to continue with the nigerian concept goodluck and God speed ! But for God sake we also have a right to our dignity

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Thanks for the polite response, Sharp Shape.

I understand the points you made so eloquently about the Niger Delta. I share some of those sentiments too. But there is no point in blaming one part of the country solely for the ills you mentioned.

Even during the current dispensation, the greatest perfidious within the public services have occurred within same region; by its own offsprings – I chose not to mention names for the moment because that would also be playing the blame game.

Even the despoliation of the environment in the Delta has not attracted the attention of Mr. President, who is of Ijaw extraction in his 6 years as President and 2 as VP. That fines for spillage by Shell remain unpaid and yet it continues to operate and extract profits from the Niger Delta should be an indication of where priorities lie for those who are saddled with protecting Nigeria’s common interest; certainly not in the right direction.

If you require further proof of the malfeasance going on, you need look no further than the Malabu deal. I have adumbrated the aforegoing, not to disparage anyone, but to illustrate the fact that the moribund spirit of irredentism that you expressed is not shared by those who are in a position to effect positive change.

Have you wondered why the PIB Bill remain un passed in the NASS after how many years despite the GEJ Presidency and the presence of Niger Deltans in the House? Food for thoughts.

Moving onto more urgent matters, reasonable people have kept on asking that the government should, without fear or favour, tackle EVERYONE suspected of funding boko haram either covertly or openly, but it has refused to effect a single arrest and prosecution. Do you seriously believe the joke told by Mr. President that they are spirits or that they are not known to our Security Services? I don’t. Please join the chorus of voices asking for an all out war against the sponsors and the foot soldiers. Every single Nigerian life lost to this madness in the face of inaction is a moral burden on the same FGN that the dead ones were expecting to protect as Constitutionally required. We cannot afford to run away from that truth.

As another worthy contributor, Lanre, posited yesterday, “we have created a mess in the North East and cannot leave the place like that”, likewise, I will state the same about the Niger Delta.

If we have to part, fine, let us do so. But before we do, the concerns and problems of both must be resolved first. There is nothing cut and dried in the whole matter because simply just turning away at this point can only be planting a deadlier time bomb that may yet consume ALL OF US.

Bruv, I urge you to revisit these matters again in a very dispassionate view and totally devoid of the usual emotions.

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Blinded by hateful bigotry, you may be “unaffected” and live in a foreign land but you still have roots and relatives in Nigeria !!

      • Ide4u

Not hateful bigotry, GEJ is grossly incompetent.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Yes your Boko-haram boys are your idea of competence !

          • Ide4u

Of course!! Boko boys have proven to be more competent than GEJ and his armies

  • clairvoyance

This man should please shut up and tell dumbo to stop killing Nigerians using Boko haram, why shed innocent blood to hold on to power, the blood of the innocent shed as a result of state sponsored Boko haram attacks will not go unpunished.

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Keep your self deceit going !! NINCOMPOOP !!

      • Dr. Kay

Why the anger now? You know he just hit the nail on the head , can you convey the message to Dumbo then if you jealous the ambassador will steal your glory and thunder . NINCOMPOOP ,ewu!

      • Gaskiya

TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO you again? It seems you idiosyncratically object every real fact mentioned against Jonathan and PDP no matter who says them. Are you benefitting from the atrocities being committed by Jonathan and PDP on Nigerians?

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Anything is better than supporting killer terrorists and their political backers who mask around as an opposition party !!

  • dave

We just love passing the buck. With people like Adefuye in government we are going no where. This is the same man who was accused recently of image laundering financial scam at the Nigerian embassy in US.He is a yes man who will support any government.A professor who will not simply understand that American interest is of great importance to Americans in decision making. We call our self the giant of Africa and yet we cannot manage our affairs. Our problem is simply leadership. The present crop of people parading themselves as leaders are misfits. We need a change.

  • bikky

So you are saying Nigeria can not fight Bokoharam without America support.Nigeria Army is so porous and weak, wahala don come.

  • Ananas_yolawa.

Mr. Adefuye, even this your story are half-true and half-false.

  • True Nigerian

What a pain and what a shame that people like me have to endure the horror of being led and governed by leaders who are as demented and as useless as Nigerian leaders.

Can you believe that? Can you just believe you read that from a government source? My country blaming a foreign country for not coming to solve a problem that was born and bred by my country in my country. Yet, the same government is seeking re-election on the premise that it will solve Nigerian problems and has been solving Nigerian problems. Jonathan resign or withdraw from this election. Your government is a disgrace!

He won’t probe the military expenditure of a small defence force that spends $32b in 4-5 years but doesn’t have enough to equip its soldiers; he won’t prosecute people who steal more funds ($20b and N10b for jet rentals); he won’t probe defence procurement system in which one of the most corrupt Nigerians ever known – IBB – is a major beneficiary; he won’t fire an SSS that has been destroyed and discredited with open partisanship, bias and gross unprofessionalism. But he thinks America should be responsible for not ending boko haram. Absolutely silly and Stoopid!

Yaradua did not invite America; Obasanjo did not invite America; Buhari did not invite America to stop the Maitatsine riots. By the way, every fuul in the world already knows that when America goes into your country to solve a problem, they often look after their own interests before they ever look after your own. Every idyot in the world today already knows that America is the last country you can trust on issues like this. And yet, somebody who thinks he is good enough to lead the most populous black nation in the world does not know that. They think that America should be ashamed fpr not solving Nigerian problem.

If Americans open their mouth to disclose what they have discovered since they came into Nigeria, the whole world will shudder, and these idyotic fuuls calling themselves Nigerian leaders will spend the next few months denying the obvious and running for a cover.

    • Gaskiya

May God bless you. Your brain is working without external interferences.

  • Okemute1

I don suffer o!!!! So this mumu na him be our amb? GEJ and PDP have really reduced us to joke.

    • tundemash

yeah ….. crying to America for help on a home grown problem. Obama must be wondering if it isn’t animals ruling over humans in Nigeria.
If America should open up on what they saw the few weeks they were here …….. your guess is as good as mine !

      • Alcindo Satori

Homegrown problemby your mother, that’s Nigeria’ s problem right there!!

        • Guguru

      • Otile

Abubakar tundemash, again you got nothing sensible to say other than resorting to name calling, e-rats. If you had finished 3 sentences you would load them with your favorite derogatory words: moron, imbecile and then conclude with some silly reference to low brain. But you are no brain surgeon, or do you think you are?

        • tundemash

Otile Shekau, what is wrong in calling a spade, spade. YOU ARE AN E-RAT; be proud of it !

          • Otile

Abubakar tundemash, I finally caught you in the net. You are now calling Imam Shekau, knowing fully well that I am a good Christian not a mohammedan like you. You are very funny indeed. I am glad finally extracted some humor from you. Cheers, my good friend I will not bother you again.

          • tundemash

let your mugu fellow e-rat @the truth know the difference between @tundemash and @wahala. What do you feed the m0ron with ?

      • Lala

More fufu and pounded yam for Aso Rock’s table.

  • I too am disappointed with the US response to this especially the aid offered in the search and recovery of the girls from the school in Chibok. Basically NOTHING of value was done. Every civilized nation in the world should have risen to the call and aided in this. Instead the world turned their backs and abandoned these girls

    • Guguru

If you realize that the government is killing its own people, would you help them? What was Jonathan doing in Chad with Ali Modu Sheriff who is known to be a Boko Haram sponsor?

      • sharp shape

When he was in APC he was a progressive and then he dropped buharam/theifnubu like a bad cold , he is now BH ! What a way to reason ? Do you guys think you are talking to your almajiris ?

        • Guguru

Who in the APC labeled him a progressive? Do you mind providing proof rather than speculations?

          • sharp shape

It’s not about who ! I ask you this question when he was still in APC did your party stop being called progressive or was it called something else ?

          • Guguru

            Sharp,

Who in the APC labeled him a progressive? Do you mind providing proof rather than speculations?

I did not tell/dictate to you what question to ask me. As a result, do not tell/dictate to me what response to provide to you, agreed?

          • Lala

Why was he not arrested when he was still an APC member!? Bloody kakaroro!

          • sharp shape

Why did you embrace him as a founding member of your ogboni cult knowing fully well that he is boko haram ! You have accused him the state has investigated him and found him not liable ! If you have additional information that will help the state prosecute him provide it or shut your stinking gworo mouth ! Olori ibu omo ale rada rada !

        • Gaskiya

We know you are not serious person because only you who do not know Ali Modu Sheriff.

          • sharp shape

Was it when he was in APC or after he defected to PDP ?

          • Lala

Why was Modu Sherriff not arrssted and tried when he was in APC????! Homo Ignoramus!

          • sharp shape

            Rubbish !

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

            Sheriff is a northerner…..wetin concern us !!

    • tundemash

Do you need America to arrest and probe Modu Sheriff since the Australian negotiator exposed him as a financier of Boko Haram?
Who in his right senses declare a cease-fire with terrorists just when his army were gaining upper hand?
Did past Nigeria govt. seek American help in curtailing past terrorists ?
Would America watch as real Boko Haram are left to do as they want while Nigerian soldiers execute innocent bystanders just to prove they are doing something ?

  • Guguru

What a disgraceful performance by Nigeria’s ambassador to the USA. What happened to developing your weapons or is the Nigerian government too inept to consider developing their own weapons? How can these people really have the guts to make any demands of America when they have yet to fulfill the demands made to them by America? For example, America has repeatedly told Jonathan to fight high level corruption, Jonathan was caught red-handed smuggling $15 million illegally to South Africa, Jonathan was caught meeting with a Boko Haram Financier (Ali Modu Sheriff) in Chad, America has asked that several Nigerian Generals be brought to book for their complicity in stealing the funds needed to fight Boko Haram, etc. So, which of these demands of America has Nigeria met or is trying to meet?

    • sharp shape

Russia a super power just bought the mistral from France an helicopter carrier platform ! Does it mean Russia cannot make weapons ! Go jare !

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Israel still helps the USA to develop weapons, the UK still buys weapons from the USA,etc but the numbskull expects Nigeria to manufacture the weapons needed by the army !

        • Guguru

Did you read what you just wrote? You used the word “help”. This implies that the US manufactures its own weapons, right? By the way, how did you arrive at the speculation that Israel “helps” the US to manufacture weapons?

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Israel is far ahead of the USA in certain areas of weapons development…..go and research,do not be lazy . You are impolite so I will not go further !

          • Guguru

Wow, you know these areas because you are Israeli or because you sneak away to Israel every night to check what they are good at and what they are not good at? What a genius you are.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are lazy,if you cannot even use the internet. I have everything ranging from journals to documentaries, libraries and the WWW,I shall not help you mate !

          • Guguru

I would rather be lazy than be a liar like you. Do you want to trade places with me? At least I am more honest than you are. LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

            So be it then,bye !!

          • Guguru

Well, I love being lazy. I feel happier when i am lazy. LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The iron dome anti missile defence system, the most proven missile defence system for medium range missile attacks was developed and built in Israel but financed by the US…just one but because of your impoliteness I will not go further !

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

You worked in Israel to know this, correct? The iron dome started as a project around 1984 during the Reagan era as part of his star wars program. It is an incredibly difficult and expensive program. It has taken the US almost 30 years to perfect it. The technology is so powerful that it all but guarantees that most Russian missiles will be shot down if Russia ever tried to fire missiles into western Europe. The Russians and the Chinese do not have such a technology. The iron dome technology effectively makes Russian and Chinese weapons useless.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The iron dome was developed by Israel, built in Israel and financed by the USA.

          • Guguru

Really? Any evidence of this development and finance?

          • Lala

Guguru, I sure say na the Isreali wey we dey kook for be this Tawanda guy o. O boy! Where is our smuggled dollars?!

          • Guguru

            LOL!

          • Maria

Only weak brains resort to insult and curses… you need help, efulefu.

          • Lala

          • Maria

            You are a liar.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

          • Maria

Hahahahahahah… what is Amadioha? Lol! This yeye person cannot take heat.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Amadioha is the mighty Igbo god of thunder which takes out empty haters like you !

          • Maria

I thought igbos are jews… I did not know they are idolaters, you people are just deceiving yourselves… igbos neither here nor there. God hates idolatry… He is a jealous God.

          • Lala

You have started peddling falsehood again o! Repent so that it shall be well with you. Or, are you an Homo Ignoramus!?

      • Guguru

What has your argument to do with the fact that Russia at least makes some of its weapons. In which case, the Mistral purchase was not out of necessity. In stead it was out of choice. In Nigeria’s case, the weapons purchase is an act of necessity and not one of choice. Do you see the difference? The problem here is whether Nigeria can guarantee that the weapons will not enter the hands of the terrorists.

        • sharp shape

The mistral was out of necessity ! Russia does not have an aircraft carrier and the cost and technology needed to build one is beyond them ! The French even refused to sell because of the current EU sanctions as a result of the Ukraine crisis ! Please if we are going to have a debate a sensible debate then you must stick to facts ! Just as you get offended why anyone on this forum attacks your precious buhari whom most of us detest with a passion we also get offended when you refer to Jonathan as dumbo creek monkey and all kinds of unpleasant names ! Are you a bully must we all subscribe to your beliefs in a democracy !

          • Guguru

            Sharp,

Russia has one aircraft carrier. The Mistral is a helicopter carrier and not an aircraft carrier. Russia can build aircraft carriers if they stopped harassing the Ukrainians who have the technology to build ships for Russians. The French have not refused to sell the Mistral. Russia has already paid for the Mistral in full. The French have trained Russian sailors for the Mistral. The French have refused so far to deliver the Mistral to Russia because of pressure from the EU and the US not to do so because of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. The Russians are threatening a law suit. I have never been offended by anyone attacking any Nigerian politician. I get offended having to deal with liars who are generally uninformed. I have not even called anyone names. Where did that come from? Why don’t you get your facts right? You are wrong in every statement you have made so far.

          • Lala

Abeg don’t mind him jare. Their stock in trade is falsehood and deceit.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The mistral warship is a troop and helicopter carrier….it is not designed for combat jets. Russia has aircraft carriers, they also have the technology but they are not disposed to build now due to the fact that their shipping yards are a bit obsolete and will need time to be refurbished, they are mostly soviet era designed.

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Russia has only 1 aircraft carrier. They used to have 2. They scrapped one of them which was eventually sold to the Chinese. The scrapped aircraft carrier is the only aircraft carrier the Chinese have today. America has 10 aircraft carriers floating around the world. Each aircraft carrier holds about 50 – 80 aircrafts which can strike any nation at a moment’s notice.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

As far as those two are concerned, what matters is the strategic weapons, not aircraft carriers. it is clear that Russia is not competing with the west in projecting global domination.

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Running aircraft carriers can be very expensive. Aircraft carriers hold about 3,000 to 5,000 personnel . They are like cities in the ocean. So, the cost of owning them can be prohibitive. Hence the part of the US defence budget of about $600 billion compared to Russia’s budget of about $80 billion. An aircraft carrier is key to labeling a nation as a super power. Super powers should have up to or more than 5 aircraft carriers. Russia and China are considered regional powers. They are not super powers. Aircraft carriers matter more than you can imagine because they project power anywhere in the world and at anytime.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Russia is a military super power !! you can believe what you like .

          • Dr. Kay

So what is your point if Russia is a super power? Why then can’t Dumbo go buy Russian arms instead of throwing out his toys including his beeb , castigating the U.S. Stop going in tangent, like in sound of music ,the music Dumbo should be singing everyday and in his cabinet meetings with his defense aids is “How do we solve a problem like Bokoharam , how do we catch sheekau and pin him down , how do we solve all this insurgency …… Is it by looking the other way or pretending I’m in a dream? ” You get my drift , now go teach Dumbo and co what they should be busy with ,instead of looting our commonwealth and blaming the opposition including the U.S.

          • Lala

Abi o! Abeg help me tell them mai dear broda.

          • Guguru

Russia is a regional super power. It does not have the capability to sustain at least three theaters of war at the same time. It does not have significant numbers of aircraft carriers. It simply has nuclear weapons. So does India and Pakistan too.

          • Lala

Russia currently has 3 aircraft carriers.

          • Guguru

No it does not. Post the article to back this up, please?

          • Lala

Google list of russian aircraft carriers.

          • Guguru

I asked you to produce the information. You made a claim, then back it up.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Aircraft carriers are weapons of gun boat diplomacy. Russia does not indulge in propagation of world wide domination therefore they are directing their energies towards strategic weaponry, space and satellite technology.
I guess the Chinese are headed in the same direction….they don’t see any need having thousands of troops on the move at the high seas doing nothing except when there is need to bomb a third world nation or terrorists. This is a cold war hang-over mentality !

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Well from all statistics and military think tanks Russia is rated the second strongest military on earth….that hardly sounds regional !

          • Guguru

Those are statistics. Russia is a regional power.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Your contrived semantics “regional power” cannot make sense when you talk about a country with enough weapons to incinerate the whole world in hours.
Those air craft carriers can be taken out by even the Chinese in hours. Strategic warfare is a different ball game.what matters is just how precise and most importantly the first to pull the trigger. Aircraft carriers are a threat to third world countries . One nuclear powered sub can destroy Nigeria without coming close to our coastline ,wake up bro !!

          • Guguru

Pakistan and India have nuclear weapons. But they are not super powers. You do not know what you are saying. Stop mixing up terms. There is a difference between a super-power and a regional power. The terms speak for themselves. All super powers have nuclear weapons but not all those with nuclear weapons are super powers. Know the difference. And by your argument of economics, Russia’s economy is going down the toilet because a super power like the USA can impose devastating sanctions on a regional power if it wants to do so. But a regional power cannot impose sanctions on a super power in order to punish it. What particular sanctions has Russia imposed on the US in order to show it is a super power, to punish the USA? World power and regional super power are simply a colloquialisms used to make those unwilling to engage in specificity to feel good about the questionable information they are mongering. Why would any nation accept regional super power? You insult the Russians when you make such remarks. LOL

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Even the UN recognises five world powers +1 economic power ie Germany ! You are the confused one mixing up terms . Nigeria is a regional power in West Africa for example. Russia,UK,France,China and the USA are world powers with one super power amongst them because USA combines military power with economic power. Russia is militarily a super power but economically not as strong !

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

There is only one super power, the USA. Then we have 4 other world powers, the UK,France,China and Russia. Germany has in the 90S being recognised as a world power but only economically hence we have the p5+1 at the UN.
The USA combines military prowess with economic power and political power hence it is refered to as a “super power”. Russia has enough military power for a super power but lack economic power hence it is just a military super power. Germany has the economy of a world power but has limitations on the military side of the equation . The combined EU have the political power of a super power but is yet to get that status because individual countries have the right to take military and political decisions independently if they wish.
The term regional power does not apply to Russia because Russia has a border with the USA at Alaska, has a border with Europe and has a border with Asia….which region do you refer to ?
The term can be used for instance to refer to “Nigeria as a regional power in west Africa”. TRY and learn what you do not know or understand.
Did I refer to India or Pakistan as “world powers”….you are acting confused,I never made that assertion anywhere………you do not know my background so I do not blame you !!

          • Guguru

You made an argument with nuclear weapons as the basis for being considered a super power. I simply pointed you to nations with nuclear weapons who are not super powers. You then danced along to the use of economics as the basis for super power status. Again, I crushed your argument. Finally you came up with another fallacy, world power. I then tried to explain it you and now it seems you have no idea what a region is considered. You now feign ignorance, while making funny comparisons between Russia and Alaska. How can I help you make a reasonable and straight argument so that you come across as logical and well informed?

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

Obama called Russia a regional power. Do you think you know more than Obama?

“U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday called Russia a “regional power” that had seized part of Ukraine out of weakness rather than strength, in a dig at President Vladimir Putin.”

Reuters, “Obama, in dig at Putin, calls Russia ‘regional power'”, March 2014.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

He clearly meant to “insult” which is normal when two military super powers are at logger-heads !

          • Guguru

You crawled into Obama’s mind to know this? How tiny did you have to get to enter Obama’s brains to see his neuron’s firing for “insults”? LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Obama has used that “insult” more than once but which region does he mean because Russia has a border with the USA at Alaska,a border with China, a border with Europe so the term might as well subjugate the USA to Russia. If Russia is a mere regional power, what then is the USA because they share the same region as well.
Russia is amongst the five world powers recognised at the UN with official veto power and Russia happens to be the second strongest military power on earth so keep following western political semantics which is meant to mislead little minds !!

          • Guguru

            Tawanda,

LOL!. So, you know more than Obama, correct? Now, our argument is now hinged on sharing regions? You run from pillar to post? LOL. The US does not share a region with Russia ooo. The US shares a region with Mexico and Canada which we refer to as North America. Stop making these false claims It was the USSR that was a super power and not Russia. Russia is a regional power. USSR was a combination of nations. Russia is not. Stop mixing up the USSR with Russia. Admit that you know very little of the world around you, will you?

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Go and consult the world map,Alaska was part of Russia before the Russians sold it to the USA…a sale regretted by Russia till date. The arctic region is mostly inhabited by the Iniuts or Eskimos and they are on both sides of that border and in fact there is a small Russian speaking population in the State of Alaska till date who live in these sub-zero conditions.
Obama is a politicians trying to talk down another.
You have not refuted a single fact in my comments….try and be objective !

          • Guguru

You have not provided any facts and as such there is nothing to refute. So, why are you so fixated on a land the russians have sold away which they no longer own? You entered Obama’s mind to know what he intended to do? You are now the psychologist who has diagnozed the US for using terms incorrectly? Alaska “was” and not “is” part of Russia. do you see the difference? And what has that to do with being a regional power? You have suddenly jumped again from international matters to World Series? Can you stay focused for once and make a clear argument? LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

            Bye !

          • Guguru

            Ok.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Does Obama know more than the world and the UN.Alaska part of what used to be known as “Russia America” was sold by Russia to the USA in 1860. There are still Russian-speaking Alaskans today .

          • Guguru

And what is the name of this region? LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

            Arctic Region !

          • Guguru

Arctic region? You men the south pole or north pole? What geography book are you using these days?

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

One last tutorial, the south pole is called Antarctic Region .

          • Guguru

You did not answer my questions. is Russia a super power because it has nuclear weapons or because it shared Alaska as a border with the USA or because it has one air craft carrier or because it sells gas to most of Europe or what? Like I said, Russia is a regional power. USSR was a super power. Stop struggling with these distinctions. LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

QUOTA SYSTEM EDUCATION ON STEROIDS !!

          • Guguru

You still have not answered my questions: I ask you again, do you think Russia is the USSR? If you believe that Russia is a super power then what was the USSR? LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

“IN A DIG”…do you really know what that translates to. My comments are getting deleted !

          • Guguru

What if I provide another article that does not use “In A Dig” would that change the story that Russia is a regional power? Do you realize that the USSR was a super power but Russia is a regional power? Are you confusing the USSR with Russia? This is what i think you are doing? Do you still have the USSR? LOL!

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

You are not informed, stop truncating the topic at stake. The Russian federation was the biggest of the states in the erstwhile USSR. Russia is what I refer to in my comments .stop being silly. It is still the biggest country in the world with Canada coming in second when it comes to landmass.
Russia sold Alaska to the USA in 1860 before the advent of the USSR which came into existence in the early 20th century.

          • Guguru

So, because Russia has a huge land mass and because it sold Alaska to the US, therefore it is a super power? Are you really serious? LOL. So, is Russia equal to the USSR or not? I hardly understand the dizzying array of comments you have provided so far. One minute it is a land sale of Alaska, the next minute it is land mass or nuclear weapons. I am so confused by your many and inconsistent lines of argumentation.

          • Lala

A new Russian aircraft carrier sailed through the English channel between May 8 and 10, 2014.

          • Guguru

Do you mind posting the article to this effect?

          • sharp shape

Stupidity is a disease ! Lies are satanic

          • sharp shape

They do have the technology no doubt but the cost cannot be justified ! The uss nimitz and eisenhower are probably the most effective aircraft carrier today ! China built an aircraft carrier but it was mainly for pride Britain sold their hms invincible to india ! Yes you are correct they can build one that is Russia but the cost is prohibitive ! Remember the Russian nuclear sub the kursk that killed all the sailors on board ! Russia did not have the special tools andskill to savage the situation they had to seek western help from the USA and Norway !

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

The technology used to salvage the kursk was Norwegian or so,I am no more sure but only them had those equipments then because they used it for deep sea oil exploration ie salvaging oil rigs,it is not by any means a military based technology !

          • sharp shape

Most millitary technology is an off-shoot of neccesity ! Remember that even the first attack aircraft was deployed after a us admiral in the 1920s demonatrated its efficacy as a combat platform ! He displayed before the top brass how air power can make a destroyer obsolete ! The display was so effective that all the military attaches invited to watch Japan especially took note and built their fleet of aircraft carriers which they attacked pearl harbour with ! I digress my point is do a deep search and you will discover that during the kursk incident two American midshipmen were given the naval cross for valor in performing beyond and above the call of duty in the salvaging of the kursk !

          • sharp shape

Once again I enjoy the exchange of ideas ! Remember the oil spill in the gulf of Mexico and how the spill was contained ! Not exactly the same technology but very close ! The usa has the technology ! Besides the first submarine warfare was carried out by rebels as the British tagged American freedom fighters then ! Though they all perished in the attempt ! Their singular action ensured that the British fleet were kept far from port thereby reducing their role in that civil war era in the USA

          • Lala

Pls hear yourself ‘ Russia does not have an aircraft carrier’. Are you kidding me, or your are just exhibiting plane ignorance!? Have you ever heard of the Admiral Kuznetsov? Pls be well informed b4 making postings here. It has become a trend for you to spew rubbish on online fora. It is better you desist, otherwise, you will expose your intellectual shallowness!

          • sharp shape

Ode read about the kunetstov and see why it was almost refused entry into the Mediterranean because of its decrepit state most naval brass actually thought it was going to sink ! Because the prospect of a nuclear powered vessel sinking in the pristine Mediterranean waters was too horrible to comprehend ! Know you role shut your mouth and learn some respect omo ale ! Then maybe then your northern Sudan janjaweed education will benefit you until then hang yourself !

          • Lala

You said does not have any aircraft carriers. So the Kutznetsov is italian abi!? Homo Ignoramus!

          • sharp shape

They don’t have anymore so how is what I said wrong ! Degenerate low life jobless peasant !

      • Gaskiya

You are an ignorant to the core. Russia can buy helicopters or weapons from any country to spy on the technology or sharpen their own. French technology is one of the best in the world if you do not know. So Russians know what they are doing. They are not buying the helicopters for fighting.

        • sharp shape

Shut up that’s the reason you guys are so annoying ! The weapon is called mistral google it and you will see why your response is silly ! Just google it ! See my guy I know that most northerners worship their leaders ! In the south we don’t do human worship ! Yes we respect our leaders but we don’t worship them ! Lastly it’s obvious you guys up north hate southerners ! So why should we be together ? Does it not make sense that we should part ways

          • Guguru

            Sharp,

Mistral is not a weapon. It is an English word. It actually means, “a strong, cold northwesterly wind that blows through the Rhône valley and southern France into the Mediterranean, mainly in winter.” Google it. LOL!

          • sharp shape

You are correct but there is a weapon system called mistral its a combat troop carrier and attack helicopter platform it carries the French version of the apache helicopter the older long bow model tagged AH 64 ! That’s the problem I have with you guguru stop concentrating on fringe issues and face substance ! You and kay are probably the most informed APC supporters on this forum and if you twist the truth how do we deal with monkeys like Wahala nitecrawler ans the small army of retards on this forum ?

          • Dr. Kay

Mr intelligence APC supporters are now army of retards init? With all your intelligence I wonder how that hasn’t translated to giving Dumbo correct and decisive advise in how to govern? All we are seeing and faced with on a daily basis is one blunder after another, one goof to another , one clowny decision to another, one corrupt dealings to another, one clueless gaff to another remember the phantom ceasefire ? So Mr. Intelligence what have you been doing?

          • Guguru

Communication requires that you are clear about what is being said. I simply raised the issue so that you can improve on the clarity of the discussion.

          • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

They love the oil and gas revenue, they would have gone their way a long time ago if the oil and gas deposits were up north .

      • Guguru

Russia is not a super power. It is a regional power.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Russia has more nuclear weapons than any country on earth…..and very modern ones too,Russia have their own global positioning system and space tech.
Russia is a military super power take it or leave it !!
Why dont you just google the world’s strongest army navy and airforces then come back!

          • Guguru

Pakistan and India have nuclear weapons too. But they are not a super power.

  • PeterPaul1

Boko haram is a political weapon being used to destabilize Nigeria by selfish and wicked Nigerian politicians. No country, including America, can help Nigeria. The solution is in Nigeria.

  • Mamapikin

To be Frank and sincere, this ambassador adefuye of a guy is talking rubbish. First and foremost, what do they want the USA to do, deploy troops to Nigeria to fight boko haram? To get involved in Nigeria’s local war? In the first place, Nigeria blurntly refused any assistance offer for years. Was it not an open secret that Nigeria called back all its troops from Mali the other day, just because the world saw and told the country’s political and military leadership the truth, is you don’t have soldier…compared to Chadian units, your boys are non starters.
Turn page, how many years ago did the USA warn Nigeria, that if you don’t get your acts together, if the leadership will not stop stealing. Stop corruption, stop corrupting state institutions, stop destroying the collective foundation of Nigeria, the country may not be there post 2015. Did you stop all your vices and turn new leaf? What more do you want of Obama?
They now want American support abi? Una nor serious oh. To arm an army that will not fight or to teach a commander in chief who imagines he is fighting ghosts his job? Let it be said loud and clear that the issue is not one of armament, but one of motivation within our officer corps, belief in the leadership qualities of the commander in chief and his government, as well as confidence in the political power structure directing the war. Come to think of it, 3 army chiefs in 2 years, what field officer will have any confidence in their commander in chief? That he knows what he’s doing?
Let it be known that at no point in time was boko haram better armed than the Nigerian military. Where did shakau get his APCs, anti aircraft guns, field guns, 4x4pick-ups, etc from? Did he send anyone to south Africa to shop for these things? Of course no. He captured these equipment from defeated units of Nigeria’s armed forces. And you want the American government to arm the same army that runs away from battle, leaving weapons in their care to terrorists?
Who ever told mr,. Adefuye to say all he’s said here cannot really be serious.
In any case, this statement from Nigeria’s government will just conveniently be ignored by the Americans.
Why waste your time on a government that can’t tell its left from right?

    • Frank Obaro

It is not “…he same army that runs away from battle”. No! It is not Nigeria’s army running away from battle, it is Northern army in continent Nigeria’s army who run away from battle and actually provide intelligence info to terrorists and even fight on their behalf. Come on! Don’t tell me you don’t know this. Several soldiers have been caught. What we need is de-amalgamation like yesterday.

  • Lala

You can deceive gullible Nigerians but it will be a hard sell for you to hoodwink the Americans. Dear Prof., they are smarter than you think!

    • tundemash

      u dey mind the numskull?

  • True Nigerian

How the mighty is fallen! But in Nigeria’s case, it should not be surprising to any right-thinking person with a fair judgement on issues. No country that is managed and governed the way Nigeria has been governed, raped and abused by its own leaders and citizens will stand any chance of becoming more than the skeleton that Nigeria currently is.

Nigeria, my country was a country that successfully carried out covert sponsorship and training for the Black struggle in South Africa; successfully quenched crisis and violence in many parts of Africa; considered part of America’s strength in its capacity as a strong military force and a formidable US ally in the Sub-Saharan region; this was a country that successfully hid Nelson Mandela for several months in which foreign countries supporting apartheid did not know where he was; this was a country that was audacious enough to carry out a dare-devil intelligence operation in which Nigerian intelligence servicemen went into the UK, abducted Umaru Dikko and nearly returned him alive to Nigeria in a suitcase, that eve the British intelligence services were baffled by the audacity of the Nigerian intelligence services; this was a country that forced rebel soldiers in African countries to return power to civillians within stipulated deadlines and the orders were carried out with fear and trembling; this was a country that arrested Asari Dokubo and kept him in jail under Obasanjo’s government; this was a country that humbled Ganiyu Adams of OPC and foiled his so-called charms that made him undectable; this was the country whose intelligence services clamped down on dare devil amed robbers, Lawrence Anenih and George Iyamu, despite claims that they sometimes disappeared before the police arrived; this is a country whose state-backed fraudsters constituted the most daring swindle of the almighty Gaddafi of Libya; the only country in the Sub-Sahara which Gaddafi’s influence could not reach and the one whose leaders Gaddafi feared and detested because of their resolve and counter influence in the continent; this was the country in which Yaradua’s government killed 400 boko haram fighters in a space of three days, arrested their leader and captured more than 400 of their members, locked them away and kept them quiet, even as a sick president that was enfeebled.

But today, this same country is blaming America for not solving its homegrown problems quickly enough; and that is happening after nearly 16 years that the country earned unprecedented amounts of money that should have turned this country into a world-class system on covert and overt security and intelligence. Yet, some people – the victims of the waste – think they are punishing someone else by making excuses for the horrendous leadership qualities that have brought this country down on its knees. Let’s pray that we do not get to pay for our hypocrisy in this country.

    • Kitunde

Don’t forget the kingpin armed robber from Republic of Benin was brought into Nigeria following specific intelligence, would you now believe this is the same country. We keep arguing that this official stealing is not sustainable, it will manifest in unexpected quarters.See our now comical military, scary health care, zero security, dangerous airspace, etc etc.
We now go back to the same country that warned us about corruption and its consequences to whinge..What a carry on.Oh before i forget, they say it is not corruption but mere ‘stealing’…Amazing.

  • Dan maikoko

I am dumbfounded that the Prof. has the audacity to accuse America of complacency in Boko Haram expansion. Let us remind the Prof. that the first week the Americans landed their kits on Nigerian soil they call our military to tell them (with video and other evidence) that the Chibok girls were separated in 3 camps. Precise coordinates were also given. Alex Badeh went out of the meeting and called a press conference to tell Boko Haram and the rest of the world about the top secret meeting and all that the Americans know so far about BH! Nothing was done to Badeh, proving that it was Jonathans decision blow the American cover.
The American intelligence network has determined that weapons used by BH are nigerian military weapons. How did Boko Haram get these weapons from the Nigerian armoury? One by sheer force, two by direct purchase, three by direct dumping through helicopters by our own govt. four by feigning incompetence and abandoning whole military barracks to the terrorist. So what military in the world will risk its soldiers to fight in such circumstances? I dont think there is any. When Boko Haram ran out of weapons and the poorly equipped, poorly remunerated and poorly motivated Nigerian military was gaining an upper hand, a Nigerian pastoral plane was detected by the Americans on a mission to purchase arms from the black market. The Americans had no option but to blow the planes cover. The Americans have also gone to the UN to block the sale of arms to Nigeria, I dont blame them. They are indirectly helping helpless Nigerians.
Since then by some twist and turn Boko Haram has in fact started acquiring territory on a daily basis. Even fools can connect the dots.
The real shame of this cry-baby utterances by the Nigerian so-called envoy is that a country like Nigeria is now laid bare so much that it is not in a position to ask for help in intelligence or logistics or supplies. No! It is asking an invited occupation army to please use its own (invited occupation army’s) sophisticated weapons to defend Nigerian territory against Nigerian insurgents. Mr., Prof. Ambassador please note that Nigeria should have acquired the necessary sophisticated weapons needed to fight Boko Haram back in 2009 when the market was open, and Boko Haram was making Maiduguri ungovernable. A second chance appeared in 2012 with the first suicide bombing by BH in Abuja and other places. It is now too late and by the special grace of GOD Almighty we will do with our votes what the military and other elite Nigerians have refused to do this clueless, gutless and useless government.

    • Abel Wariboko

You have said so many things. and accused the president of even fighting his Govt by arming Terrorists against his Govt.Congratulations.Bottomline is you want power at all costs.you are very sure as soon as you get it the terrorists will stop their activities. Only thing I want to say is you know the truth about BH but chose to play politics with it. Only one question, why did BH reject the Ceasefire from the Govt. If the Govt.was their sponsors?

      • Dan maikoko

Yes I know the truth about Boko Haram unfortunately I am not the C-in-C. Tell your your clueless president to hand over the control of the Army, SSS, the Police, Immigration and customs to me and I will use the same able men in the force now to stop the insurgency. Our military and police are the best in Africa, they know what guerilla war is and how it is fought more than the Zulus who invented it in the first place. If you want proof ask the South African apartheid government, the ANC, the MPLA of Mozambique and all the other African countries we fought for to gain independence.
As for GEJ fighting his govt, I dont know how you will explain his declaration for the presidency today when just yesterday terrorists have taken over one more local government in a country he governs and yet not even a statement from the president. The only reasonable explanation is that he wants what is happening, simple.

    • abujakenneth

Dan, when you take power through the help of terrorists (God forbid), and you mount the saddle, a greater war awaits you. While the terrorists attack the unity of the country, the greater war will attack the economy of the country and you can guess the one that is more disastrous. It has happened before so we are suppose to learn from history.

    • Mamapikin

Thank you for saying the truth my brother

  • olawale

Madness of the highest orda.u mean dis #GEJ blame America for his carelessness?such a failed state.cant wait for the CHANGE

  • Okikiola Beckley

In most countries they choose their best when it comes to diplomatic postings but this our ambassador’s take is too pedestrian and childish.

  • favourtalk

That’s what happens when you have a man who doesn’t know his duty, why won’t he be blaming other countries and party when he can’t get his shit together because of his incompetency. What a shame that we have such man as a president because he has delivered anything called democracy to the nation, riot here and there, bad leadership character and unserious handling of several cases that concerns citizen. We need a change and a president not a confused one

  • aopgoku

This news is ridiculous .How could that be possible for american to assist while the nigeria leaders are rogue and thieves ,American government don’t condone corruption .

  • G4

What are you blaming the US for. Is it the America’s fault that in the time of insurgency your irresponsible govt found it fit to have a larger capital budget for the bloated presidential fleet than the National Air force?? Is it the fault of the US that you are paying fattened ex militants in the way of amnesty since 2009 more than than National army??? How long do you think such a system could have been sustained.

  • abujakenneth

Dear Prof. US abandoned you because, while corruption is eating deep into the fiber of Nigeria, the NASS members deemed it more important than fighting the corruption, to pass anti gay law. US went further to warn Nigeria of the dire consequences of assenting to the bill but GEJ ignored such warning.

  • omolaja

We were all alive when the Chief of Defence Staff said that the Military hierachy said that they could resort to trying and killing and burying any ering soldier in the bush.

  • MushinSpeaks

America owe us nothing; we are our own problem. President Jonathan should act right and be more interested in fighting the war against insurgency to finish than his interest in getting reelected.

If truly the people wants him as their next President, let his works speak for him.

  • Oluwole Lagbaja

In 2 yrs beginning from 2011, the US has sent 2 combat war ships to the Niger Delta and they called it ‘gifts’ to the Nigerian government
to help it monitor its territorial waters and ward off aggression. Now, if you believe that, then you must see a psychiatrist with 100 yrs experience without delay. The Americans simply want to protect their investments in the Niger Delta republic of continent Nigeria and that is why despite the terrorism, bomb blasts and killings in the North, the US was busy sending heavy naval ships & equipments to the littoral Niger Delta while the Nigerian army actually needed combat equipment for a desert region.

We are not unaware of the legion of conspiracy theories that abound regarding the role of US in destabilizing Nigeria right from its anger at
Nigeria’s routing of rebels and ending the wars in Sierra Leone & Liberia where it (US) could have made more money selling weapons had the wars lasted longer. So, the US has really not forgiven Nigeria…but the internet children posting nonsense here don’t understand.

But who do you blame? Why should Nigeria not be manufacturing its weapons after 100yrs of existence? What happened to the war technologies of Eastern Biafra? – The “Ogbunigwe” invention etc…Where are the Biafran scientists who made armoured vehicles and rocket launchers from local materials and held on for 3yrs? Where are they? What is difficult in weapons manufacture? Our leaders should set up research institutes of weapons production and get smart Nigerians with flair for inventions to excel. They abound everywhere in the South. People who make weapons in US have no two heads ,but one. Buy or copy the technology. But must we buy from US? Put a call through to the Kremlin or China…or just inform the US that you are going to switch from Demoncracy to Communism …and they will send you weapons free of charge without delay.—Chief Obaro Ovie JP

    • Binta

Spot on! The americans sure needed to protect their Chevron, Exxonmobil etc oil companies human rights abuses or not. Protecting their investments has noting to do with human rights violations. It is a pity that Nigeria has no will to respond properly.

I think your last sentence about a visit to Kremlin and a pronouncement of switching from Democracy to Communism might do the magic.

      • Mamapikin

Communism ke, when all your leaders run to the USA to buy landed properties and private jets. Are. You. Kidding yourself or what?

I like this submission. It’s the same question I have always asked, why can’t we do anything for ourselves. We only depend on other nations to get everything done. And I see this to be as a result of bad leadership over the year. Our leaders would rather stay in their comfort zones, amass wealth illegally with uncouth level of corruption, than to stay in the side of sacrifice and patriotism to get the country her desired “independence”.

Is it not because our education system are bad that most of our best-brains leave the shore of Nigeria to become intellectual assets to the developed world? Resources that are meant to be used for intellectual developmental projects and welfare of our people are shared by politicians. Since being a politician is most lucrative, why would somebody bother himself with any research, after all, the salary would not be paid and the result of whatever research he did wont see any support from Government?

In a 15th June 2010 report, BBC’s reporters, Caroline Duffield, described Nigeria’s Niger Delta as the ‘World oil pollution capital’ of the world. I searched frantically through Nigerian newspapers both off line & online, none reported it. While the media houses bask in that misplaced euphoria in reporting stories regarding the missing millions, commensurate energy is never dissipated on issues relating to
the incessant and continual pollution of my Niger Delta…The reason for such anomaly would have been difficult to fathom but for the information given by by Late Gideon Orkar in their April 22, 1990 revolution, as regards the deliberate desire to continue to plunder the resources of a people why attempting to make them eternal objects of servitude.

Hear Caroline Duffield: “…On 12 May 2009, Shell’s Bomo manifold blew up, leaking massive amounts of crude… A second leak – from a derelict oil tap – had already been continuously spilling oil for years…Shell hired a local company to clean up, but the area remains an oil
    slick…

” — “It kills our fish, destroys our skin, spoils our streams, we cannot drink,” says Saturday Pirri, a local palm wine tapper…”I have no
livelihood left.” — “…The oil industry is accused of a sharp double standard in its operations – of taking advantage of Nigeria’s lack of environment law and weak regulation, while observing higher standards of safety and maintenance overseas…”

The atrocities and sabotage perpetrated by US oil companies in my Niger Delta is more relevance than the hue and cry about their sabotage in refusing to sell weapons. Nonsense! —- Chief Ovie Obaro JP

If my uncle lied to the people of Nigeria by promising things he clearly knew where beyond his capacity; then anyone who calls him dumbo is entitled to vent their anger and disappointment.

Americans predicted Nigeria disintegration by 2015 and they are waiting to see it happen so they can prove their proficiency to the world in predicting nations political fate. That is why they are reluctant to assist but they will fail. Nigeria can survive without the USA.

  • Smith Scott

Don’t mind US. If Nigeria army is violating human right what happened to the drones they using in killing civilians in Afganistan, Pakistan, Yemen etc. They just want every Nigeria men to but f**cking each other, then you will see all the roads opened for military hardware. America under Obama, is not Nigeria’s friend at the moment. This is what Nigeria and Nigerians should understand. Obama has never made his dislike or even hate for Nigeria hidden. Trace Obama’s action in Africa and you will see what I am saying. When it comes to providing soldiers for peacekeeping you’ll see Obama smiling at Nigeria but whenever Nigeria is in problem Obama will look the other way.

During the Ebola incident in Nigeria, Obama beguilingly refused Nigeria the antibodies for this disease. Nigeria went ahead to solve its problems to Obama’s chagrin. Now, Obama is capitalizing on human rights to deny sale of arms to Nigeria! What does Obama want? To see to Nigeria’s disintegration?

For now Nigeria should begin to reassess its relations with America; it is not compulsory Nigeria must always continue to smile at the US.

    • C Dube

Nigeria should not totally depend on one country ,the US. The national interest of Nigeria is most important for Nigeria. It can easily look for help from other countries if it wants to. It is baffling why the Nigerian Government has only looked for help from the US and not from any other country despite the fact that there has been no progress at all in rescuing the Chibok girls and in preventing barbaric attacks on innocent civilians in Borno ,etc.

Cant believe how easily the mighty nija army has capitulated….may be it is not that mighty after all? Think kenya army we had similar challenge from islamist Somalia alshabab our army went right through Somalia captured alshababs capital kismayo and set camp…granted we have had some suicide bombing as it is impossible to completely stop this maniac islamists but certainly non of our soldiers have ever fled in the face of battle…even museveni uganda prezi had to admit he was amazed at how well kenyans arm kicked ass having always assumed they can’t fight as our highly disciplined army had not seen combat before except in peace keeping and uganda army which has been fighting in the Congo could not handle alshabab

Nigeria is in desperate need of help to rescue he Chibok Schoolgirls and to save its citizens from regular attacks and atrocities. There is a breakdown of law and order. Even if the army had a record of human violations, the Boko Haram organization has a worse record. There are ways to check, control and improve the human rights record of the Nigerian army. However, there is no way to check or control the acts of crime of Boko Haram. The argument is absolutely flawed. By not allowing the Nigerian army to function and to discharge its responsibility of protecting the citizens of Nigeria against the dreaded organization of Boko Haram, the US is indirectly preventing a sovereign nation from defending and protecting itself. If ordinary citizens in Nigeria is unsafe , then, no one is safe in Nigeria. Why should the Nigeria always look for support from USA for arms? It is indeed baffling. The US is not the only supplier of arms. The world has many manufacturer-suppliers like Russia, China, Israel , France, etc. Many countries meet their defence requirements of arms and weaponry from countries other than the USA. Therefore, the logic that US is not helping Nigeria is difficult to understand or accept. The Nigerian Government if it wants can help itself by procuring its requirement for defence or other requirement from any part of the world. Time is of the essence as the Chibok girls matter is very old now. It is a humanitarian and moral crisis. See what was the role of US in Iraq. It helped very little and very late causing immense suffering to the Yazidis ( a minority community ) , the Kurds and other minority groups. Even arms were not given in time. Additional 1,500 troops were provided very late for non combat purposes. The situation in Nigeria is even worse. The Nigerian Government should do its best to check a gravely deteriorating situation and to help the rescue the Chibok schoolchildren and protect , defenceless innocent citizens from repeated barbaric attacks.
