Resign now, PDP tells Tambuwal

Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged the speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, to leave office after Mr. Tambuwal officially announced his defection from the party to All Progressives Congress, APC, Tuesday.

Mr. Tambuwal decamped after months of speculation. He had previously denied he was moving to the APC despite openly associating with the party.

The clearest indication he was joining the opposition party came more than a week ago when he attended a meeting of the APC in Sokoto State.

He said the state governor, Aliyu Wammako, had invited him for the meeting after he was snubbed by a visiting PDP delegation to the state, led by Tony Anenih, the Board of Trustees chairman.

His months of denial is believed to have been informed by his concerns about losing his position as the speaker.

The PDP said its National Working Committee has met with its leaders in the House of Representatives concerning the defection of the speaker, and after due considerations.

It said the speaker should do what is honourable since his new party is in the minority.

“After a thorough consideration of the matter, the NWC came to a conclusion that the Hon. Speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows full well what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority,” a statement by the party’s publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, said.

“We are not unmindful of the fact that Hon. Tambuwal became Speaker on the platform of the PDP as the political party with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives and that this incontrovertible fact has not changed.”

  • Maria

    Hahahahahaha… PDP has collapsed…

    • MrFesh

Hehe. You are just a maria.

      • tundemash

        Go lick your wounds he-goat!

        • MrFesh

          Lwkm.
          Mess mess.
          Who Mess?

          • tundemash

you wings have been clipped. Back to fishing in Otuoke .

  • Ekwekwe

There is no difficulty handling this one. Recall his security team and other staff, take back the official cars and stop paying his salary as Speaker House of Reps. Pay him his salary as any other member of the House. Finally, evict him from the Speaker’s official residence. He should have done the right thing by resigning.

    • Wähala

      Mumu,
All Legislators have security details and perks, the Speakers do not have two heads and four hands each…
But not to worry, he will resign and concentrate on his Guber campaign. Hahaha chei, PDP is dead and awaiting burial in 2015. Ode buruku!

      • MrFesh

        Help yourself with information abeg.
The speaker has more than all the others.

    • Ola

When you withdraw his securities and denied him the benefit of the office, have you appointed another speaker? Nobody can denied him all these not until he is either impeached or resigned. And he can only be impeached with 2/3 of the members of the house.

      • I Hate Sycophant Truly

Why are you explaining this to illiterates parading themselves has enlightened fellows. Many of them don’t even know house rule, they believe is just an appointed office but forget to know speakership is an elective position. The case of Atiku Vs PDP really favour him. Is just like telling the president to resign if he crosses to other party. The president is an elected office and not appointment, hence the president cannot resign.

    • Jide

Backward thinking, you are not aware there is a process for things? This is one of the issues facing Nigeria, people like you

      • I Hate Sycophant Truly

You are the most backward person because you don’t know house rule and what the constitution says as a case like that has been won by Atiku Vs PDP before.

    • Chris1408

See your reasoning, people like you are the ones turning Nigeria to a jungle

    • Wähala

      “ekwe-ekwe”…udo-udo!
Since your name roughly translates to ‘diehard’ in Ibo…why not lead the invasion of the House since Speaker Tambuwal did not announce his resignation along with informing his peers of his desire for change… like every sane Nigerian. Thugs like you are better trained palm wine tappers so you can shout your insanity from a tree top. Your reasoning is below par and very retarded. Tambuwal was elected by bi-partisan majority, it will take a 2/3 majority to get rid of him… Kapisch? Mumu!

  • Truthometer

That is not going to happen. Have they ask Mimiko to resign yet? Hypocrites! Over to you, PDP e-rats.

  • Dumbo

It is good for anyone to defect to PDP but not the other way round. Look for the two-third majority to impeach him if you can. Yeye dey smell

  • Wähala

Speaker Tambuwal should ignore his old party goons. Olisa Metuh knows too well the Speaker is popular among his peers and that there’s no way the PDP can garner the requisite 2/3 majority necessary to evict Tambuwal from his abode and throne. Hypocrites. When Gov. Mimiko defected in their favor, where was Metuh’s coarse voice calling for his resignation and return of his mandate to LP? The die is cast, the beginning of the end is upon the cabal. Tambuwal certainly did his “consultations” well, well. He has floor support to thwart gra-gra impeachment by PDP members. Die sucker, die… PDP! Hahahahaa chei!

    • Tawandah incommunicado

Common sense please…..Tambuwal was elected as Speaker by his erstwhile party so he cannot take that mandate along to the APC. In the interest of peace.

      • Wähala

Na lie! All the members of the House elected him from across party lines… Go lick your wound and stop spreading lies. Count Sokoto lost, count PDP down and out. And, ask them to stop sending Anenih anywhere, he fucked up in Imo Guber election; messed-up in Edo where he took a pounding, now in Sokoto again, he couldn’t even negotiate a simply truce. The evil fossil is a waste, he brings badluck so goodluck Dumbo… Hahaha!

        • Tawandah incommunicado

Well he will be disgracefully removed with ignominy, he cannot eat his cake and still have it !

          • tundemash

Lick your wounds. When PDP sponsored Mulikat against him for the Spearkeship , where were you ?

          • Tawandah incommunicado

Would you rather have a back-stabbing traitor pretending to be a party member. Tambuwal’s stay in the PDP was no more tenable because he was already isolated,side-lined and humiliated .
There is no wound to lick……just celebrations that the two-faced non entity has been eliminated !!

          • tundemash

So why has your whole household be thrown into mourning because man decided to take his destiny in his hands.

            back to my question:
When PDP sponsored Mulikat against him for the Spearkeship , where were you ?

          • tundemash

Despite majority, PDP admits it can’t force Tambuwal out; hopes on court

That is the heading of the latest news from Premium Times. It’s over , go home and mourn in your room.

          • tundemash

and who would do that clown ?

  • Chris1408

Actually PDP didn’t make Tambuwal the speaker, his peers in all the political parties did. If PDP had their way, Tambuwal would never have been the speaker.

    • Mayo

You’re correct but even at that, he only had a shot at the Speakership because he was from the majority party.
Basically, being a member of the majority party was a requirement to contest the post

  • the truth

For those comparing a defecting state governor and a defecting speaker, they should please stop showing their lack of knowledge on government and please use google.. we don’t need to trade words. It is paramount that as a politician tambuwal has the right to choose where he belongs. Nancy pelosi the lady representing california controlled the us house for the democrats, because the democrats had majority in the us house, there was the mid term election in which most americans sided republican and the tea party surge, this made the republicans control the house. Nancy humbly resigned for john boehner from ohio, a republican. I put it to anybody here sentiments aside to tell me 1 democratic country in the world which practices unicameral legislature like nigeria where a speaker is from the minority party without coalition.

    • Wähala

You’re quick to run and compare Nigeria with the US… but, how about copying everything verbatim from the Americans where Donald Trump challenged Obama’s citizenship and the US President published his birth certificate. Does American First Lady meddle in local politics? Does Obama deploy 20,000 soldiers just to conduct Governorship election? If 300 girls were missing in America, Obama would be addressing American with updates on a daily basis, he visited every school where lives were lost… has Dumbo visited Chibok or the school where 59 heads were chopped-off at night? Don’t piss me off biko, America is a civilized society… Nigeria is a crime scene – cr. @Dare

      • the truth

you are breaching our truce, our agreement to stay away from our comments. Let me address your points raised. Do you deny without sentiments or party affiliations the fact that the honorable thing to do as a speaker of a minority party is to resign? It is pertinent that you did not answer my question. Tell me one country that practices unicameral legislature where a minority party chairs the speaker-ship? Yes Michelle Obama meddles with local politics. November 4 is coming and michelle obama has endorsed so many candidates, michelle obama speaks on political rallies for candidates. She sides with particular candidates, and does ads for the candidates of her choice,so get that fact straight. Did Rauf Aregbosola ask for those troops that you are condemning for election security in osun election,do you deny that? I would advice not to you read just premium times but all other papers too.

        • endingNaija

You will need to close that mouth of yours PDP man if you cannot answer wahala’s questions-just put a padlock on your mouth and lock it properly after OILING the padlock and your mouth-okay the dubiously untruthful “the truth?

          • the truth

conversations are for matured individuals who match point by point, not a shouting or cursing contest. That’s how educated people address issues, not shouting and cursing like motor park boys.

          • endingNaija

PDP man I am saying lock your OILY mouth if you cannot answer wahala’s questions. YOU hear? Just OIL the padlock first with the oyele in ya BACKYARD and then LOCK your OILY mouth if you cannot cognise and answer wahala’s simple questions intelligently. If you want to dodge wahala the way you are dodging, I will hammer you right there-I do not care-okay? There is no time for that your dubious pretension at “neutrality” after you used your OWN MOUTH to unmask yourself as a PDP man and online defended and canvasser for Goodluck JOnathan’s 2015 ambitions. Mind you, you have a right to be JOnathan’s campaign manager-but I am saying that dubious playing of neutrality which was never there is gone. So? answer wahala’s questions and if you cannot then POUR your oyele in ya backyard into your own mouth and LOCK it forever-you hear?

          • tundemash

lol ! the fraud has been unmasked .

      • Mayo

Yes, Obama published his [long-form] birth certificate but remember he refused to publish it when Donald and other ‘Birthers’ demanded it. He said he was not going to bend to them because he had already met the requirements of the law. He firmly resisted publishing it for more than a year and when he did publish it, it took everyone by surprise. In addition, Obama said that even if he published it, the folks demanding for it would come up with something else about it or something else about Obama. And Donald Trump did just that. After the long form birth certificate was published, Donald Trump claimed it was a forgery. In addition, he started asking for Obama to release his college transcript.

      • K- Man

Oga Wahala, that is not the issue. The point he raised is that it is unheard of that you remain in the
minority and preside over the house. Nobody is saying Tambuwal should resign his seat in the National Assembly, he is still a honorable member. But to be honorable, then he should vacate the position of the speaker for the majority.

    • tundemash

Olosi ! …. where were you when PDP sponsored Mulikat against Tanmbuwal for the Speakership election? Was it not the combination of ACN, CPC, APGA and some PDP who voted him in ?
Let his peers who voted for him impeach him; that is the right thing to do not threatening .

Still waiting for your advise on Gov. Mimiko’s defection to PDP. Should he not have resigned as gov ?

      • the truth

i would have loved to educate you on the difference between a defecting governor and a defecting speaker, since you were not taught in government class. But engaging a motor park area boy does not benefit me in any way. The day you stop your abuses maybe we could have a good discourse. As you can see i don’t comment on your write-ups and i would prefer you do the same on my write ups. There is a reason why i do that, don’t you think so? I wonder if your parent’s or your kids were on this public forum and see you exhibiting this kind of behavior, what would be there response. I always pray for you, one day you would learn. stay blessed sir

        • tundemash

Olosi wants to give what he doesn’t have ! There is a difference between a defecting gov and a deefcting Speaker in your cocooned world! How about the legislators in Akure who defected when Fayose became gov ?

Go lick your wounds …. Tanbuwal became Speaker by the virtue of his peers voting for him, even though PDP sponsored Mulikat against him and only those his peers could impeach him. Not you and not your rogue sponsors !

          • the truth

the more you talk, the more you expose your deficiency to learned people. If at this age you can’t differentiate this, then you are on your own

          • austine007

Why are you so abusive? Always casting aspersion on people and their commentaries… Are you okay? I mean do you still have network service in your brain????

          • the truth

lol he lost the network service at gwoza. u know the military stopped all services over there

          • tundemash

excited you finally got a company ?

          • austine007

Bros! You need a dress-down? I can give you one… Stop abusing people on this platform… Try to come of age and act like a human NOT like a madman running loose on the streets of Ajegunle!

          • tundemash

I see you are a JJC and quite excited. I give it to the e-rats the way I see it and the diatribe has lasted years and several forums. No one made you a moderator here and you can advocate for the e-rats for all i care, it doesn’t pull out an hair off me.

          • austine007

Arrogance has been your bane and will be your downfall if you do not retract your loosing steps!

          • tundemash

don’t bother about my downfall, it is none of your business and don’t play God, it is the worst form of arrogance !

          • tundemash

loose canon ! You are neither here or there . I cast aspersion on e-rats !

          • austine007

          • austine007

          • the truth

lol please take it easy on him. he needs our support at this critical stage of his life

          • tundemash

            feeble mind.

          • tundemash

I am not on a popularity contest here and I might not be your cup of tea and your flip-flopping isn’t my cup of tea either.
You are right on one thing though; I am angry with E-rats and will pour vituperations on them. If you don’t like it, keep to yourself.

          • austine007

I am always with you when you are right but will never move one inch with you if you are wrong!

          • tundemash

Austin … I am not here for comradeship so I don’t understand “I am always with you when you are right” and I have explained to you the diatribe between me and the e-rats have come years and on several forums outside Premium Times. I have no apology to my attacking them. I have had a different view with you elsewhere and didn’t attack you because you weren’t trying to be deceptive and that is by cross with misnamed the “the truth”.

          • austine007

Bro! You came here to be heard… That is “comradeship!” or correct me if am RIGHT!

          • tundemash

You are right on that … apparently you have been reading too much of Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo.

          • austine007

You must learn not to hate anyone or cast aspersions on others just because they do not see things from your point of view or understand your line of perspective… You don’t right people’s wrong by argument but by truth anchored on loving actions, words and deeds… All the best Sir!

          • tundemash

Hate is a strong word and that is how you see it however I reserve the right to express my view how I see it to ethnic bigots, religious fanatics and “stomach infrastructure” liars pretending as being “neutral” and speaking the truth. Evil thrive when we remain dormant. Like I said before, you jumped in the middle of a long struggle and if i could recall, your very first sentence to me was abusive; that is quite hypocritical from someone preaching “You don’t right people’s wrong by argument but by truth anchored on loving actions, words and deeds”

            All the best Sir!

          • austine007

            Tundemash let me be ooooo!

          • tundemash

ha! ha! I was on my own jeje with the e-rats, as usual, when you came to rescue them and allowed them to escape back to the amnesty camp. Tomorrow is another day. Good night.

          • Otile

He has lost it all, bro.

          • newvoice404

The truth,I think you are wrong here and Tundemash is right. Morally one can say that Tambuwal should resign cos he is now in a minority party but since PDP that you are obviously supporting is the bigger culprit in playing immorality politics, Tambuwal and APC have to wait it out for members of the house of the reps to impeach Tambuwal. If however PDP cannot muster enough members to impeach him so be it. It totally means that PDP has shot itself in the foot and losing the abracadabra game PDP has so much encouraged and thrived-in so foolishly, for so long.

In that case take heart and know that PDP is fast loosing ground. We that normally criticise PDP have warned them of their political and moral impunity- that what goes around comes around. The chicken is coming home to roost.

          • the truth

you are wrong he brought up ondo house of assembly members. The question you should ask yourself, is pdp the majority in ondo house of assembly after the defection or are they the minority? and is the speaker a pdp, lp, or apc member? secondly members could decamp at any time. Lets say the ondo state speaker decamps from apc which is the majority in the assembly and joins pdp which is the minority, do you think he would still remain speaker of the house when he is in the minority? Only his peers can remove him and in the case of tambuwal pdp has less than 240 members to effect his removal. In nigeria anything goes. But in a more sane country since he has become a minority he would resign. And i stand to correct you that i am not a pdp nor apc supporter. I criticize both parties and would say what is the truth. I have never in my life carried, supported or voted pdp neither anpp,ac, or apc. People just don’t want to hear opposing views. If you oppose their views you are abused. I have condemned both parties in previous posts, and mr tunde never confronts me when i criticize pdp, but when i criticize apc he suddenly runs loose

          • newvoice404

Well in as much as that you have augured so brilliantly ,you will agree with me that Tambuwal was voted in as the speaker by a collation of parties that included PDP rep members. So its only fair that the same house should try to impeach him,if not it means he is representing all of them as speaker. Also the truth ,you are not new to me on this forum regardless that you claimed that you have never voted for any party(which could be true) . However on the balance of probability, you really have sympathy for PDP and GEJ,arguing otherwise does not portray you as someone who actually likes the truth. Pls,dont get me wrong ,its absolutely your right to support or have bias for any party or person/s of your choice but pretending you are neutral and just a truth seeker leaves so much to be desired.

          • the truth

please read my initial comments on this, i have always insisted that there are 2 options for tambuwal if he was to be removed. 1. a vote by the house to remove him. 2. if he honorably resigns because his new party is in the minority. But the problem for some people is why must the truth say he should resign. The arbiter of resignation solely lies with tambuwal. But in a saner country that would be the honorable thing to do. Morality can only be deduced and adjudged by the individual and not us. So these points i made, are they false and untrue, or a fact that some people don’t want to face. As i said earlier i can come out here to say i am a pdp member or an apc member which i am not and would be lying. As earlier stated i have never supported, voted or canvassed for pdp or any political party all through my years in nigeria and would not do it now. The fact which i have brought out in so many instances remains, whether apc or pdp politicians, they dont have you or me as there interest. we can argue as we like but they are somewhere chilling together.stay blessed, i respect your views and points. Thats how we communicate maturely, you may disagree with me but we dont have to condescend to name calling and abuses.

          • austine007

These guys (Nigerian Politicians) have no morality and integrity is NOT in their dictionary… Stop wasting you precious counsel… They will never hear you when “money” to be stolen is still there!

          • Dumbo

You are wasting people’s time. You live in Nigeria and have never supported, voted or canvassed for any political party. You must be very dumb seeking for truthful and productive leadership while refusing to participate in the process of bringing about the desired leadership. If I were you I will cease to read anything politics talk less commenting.

          • Trututhometer

“But in a saner country that would be the honorable thing to do.” Nigeria of Dumbo and PDP has never been a sane society and will never be. Case closed. Goodnight.

          • tundemash

when would you give up this your “neutrality” LIES ? Even newvoice404 found you out !

          • austine007

Bros! Point of order… PDP did not sponsor Mulikat but is was Obasanjo who wanted to…

          • tundemash

And who was the leadership of PDP supporting then ?

at that time, OBJ and PDP leadership hadn’t gone their separate ways so you can’t attribute it to OBJ alone.

          • Otile

You are right bro, awon omo Oodua sold out including Ogagun.

          • austine007

Wrong again… OBJ was at that time loosing grip on the machinery of the NWC of the PDP. Also, if you would remember, the PDP was divided on who to choose as their candidate but the division in the house gave Tambuwal and Ihedioha and their backers enough time to sway the house…

          • tundemash

“the PDP was divided on who to choose as their candidate” …. between who and who ?

One fact you inadvertently agreed to; PDP did not support Tambuwal which was my original point.

          • Otile

They know him fir what he is, odale. Without treachery he would not smell the post at this time.

          • austine007

Emeka and Tambuwal on the day of election came to the house dressed in disguise… Do you remember?

          • tundemash

            No i wasn’t there .
So PDP members didn’t realise who they were voting for ?
And haven’t realised until the defection ?

Once again …. my question is …. did PDP support Tambuwal’s Speakership candidacy or not ?

          • austine007

            What’s your point?

          • tundemash

            my point hasn’t changed …..
“Tanbuwal became Speaker by the virtue of his peers voting for him, even though PDP sponsored Mulikat against him and only those his peers could impeach him.”

          • Otile

Virtue my foot, treachery has ruined continent Nigeria.

          • austine007

I see that you want to engage me in an endless discourse… Just driving me around and around… Men, am off. Bye!

          • Otile

Route him over to me, I am waiting for him.

          • tundemash

          • austine007

The Police where at the entrance waiting to arrest them but they eluded them that was the drama my brother… Am not for or against PDP if that is what you are thinking.

          • tundemash

I don’t think the issue of who you support has come up.

And If the ” Police where at the entrance waiting to arrest them” …. anyone can guess who sent the police.

          • Otile

Guess is no good. Certainty, comrade certainty.

          • Otile

Whether you like it or not OBJ was a formidable force back then that was why he made sure Dimeji BankOLE became politically irrelevant in Ogun State Politics in 2011. Similarly, it was after the loss of Mulikat that many observers saw that OBJ was fast loosing his grip on the NWC and PDP inner caucus that was what encouraged Ayo Fayose to stage a comeback. Remember, Omisore became irrelevant when OBJ lost his relevance too… And these will also affect alot of political movement in the SW come 2015…

          • Dumbo

Get your facts right, Mulicat was the only house of reps PDP member from the south west that was qualified to be elected as speaker. House members refused to elect her cos south west PDP members were the minority as most reps members were from the then ACN.

          • Otile

Not so. Tambuwal bribed the Reps and Honorable Mulikat lost out.

        • Auwal

The truth, let me observe that Nigeria is practicing a Bi-cameral legislature mot unicameral as u suggest.
I dont know of the US constitution, but Nigerian constitution stipulates that the members elect their speaker. Speakers emerges from majority here only because it is normal for members from party with majority to have speaker from amongst them.
Moreover, because Nigerian constitution neutralises party inclination to speakership that is why you have majority and minority leaders in tge House.
Now, it is up to Tambuwal to relinquish his position if he likes or the the PDP to muster enough vote (ie 2/3 majority ) to impeach him.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>> A CLEAR SPITEFUL EXHIBITION OF BORN-TO-RULE ARROGANCE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

But we are determined to bring a conclusive end to born-to-rule and forge a Nigeria for all ……….. a Nigeria that will have no place for the disgraceful and dishonorable conduct of buffoons like Aminu Tambuwaal.

If Aminu Tambuwaals actions in the National Assembly including his utter disrespect for the person and for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ……. does not represent the most irresponsible behavior ever by a Nigerian public Officer …….. what else is ?

All Southerners must think deeply and must know that Aminu Tambuwaals actions is not only a heap of insults on Southerners and non-Muslims in Nigeria …. it is a spiteful exhibition of born-to-rule arrogance by those who think that Nigeria is their conquered colony and that they are born-to-rule Nigeria forever.

    • concerned9ja

I am a Southerner, a majority and a Christian. I prefer Tambuwal any day to the so-called, deceitful, callous, corrupt, clueless, moronic Goodluck Jonathan any day. Enough of mediocrity in our country.

    >>>>> WARINING !!!

There will be nothing called Nigeria ………. if the House resumes on December 3, 2014 and Aminu Tambuwaal attempts to
preside over the House as Speaker … that will mark the end of the country called Nigeria.

That will also mark the end of law in Nigeria and the beginning of unstoppable lawlessness that will eventually lay Nigeria in its deserved grave.

    Enough is Enough !!!

You cross-bred Aborigines do not think before or after you’ve spewed your rubbish. Nigeria did not end when Gov. Mimiko, ex-Gov. Peter Obi, Sen. • Enough_is_Enough

We are not bothered about Aminu Tambuwaals defection to APC which amounts to nothing but we will never ever accept a situation where Aminu Tambuwaal presides over the House as Speaker from the Opposition APC that is in the minority …….we dare him to try it …… then at least Nigeria will have the opportunity to know if this is an empty warning.

This is a tough one. It is a known fact that PDP NEVER supported the candidacy of Tambuwal. PDP sponsored Mulikat who was roundly defeated by Tambuwal (with the backing of the then ACN, CPC and ANPP reps). In fact, PDP has always accused ACN of betraying the course of Yorubas by supporting Tambuwal (without considering the content of the sponsored puppet). So which Tambuwal are they accusing of using their platform to become Speaker?

  • austine007

Tambuwal wants to be Presido come 2015… However, here are my conditions for anyone wanting to be President come 2015 and I suppose majority of right thinking Nigerians will hold-forth with me.

    1. To be eligible for President you must have atleast two or three of your immediate dependent, who are of school age, schooling in any Nigerian PUBLIC (NOT PRIVATE). They must not be schooling abroad whether Nursery, Primary, Secondary or Tertiary.

    2. During medical check-up you must NOT go abroad or even visit a PRIVATE Hospital for any reason. You must visit our own General Hospitals or Federal Medical Centers established by law here in Nigeria.

    3. You must have lived in Nigeria for not less than 20-years concurrently and NOT be one mulatto who have sojourned abroad all his life (e.g. Dimeji Bankole) and then returned to steal us dry.

    4. You must not have any dedicated transformer (ministers powerline) in your house (Palace) but share the same transformer with ordinary Nigerians so that you can feel the pains and hatred of NEPA/PHCN/AEDC.

    5. You must NOT have retinue of Police and Military men watching over your overfed kids, dogs and chains of HAREM.

    6. You must NOT shop abroad or allow your wife or girlfriend charter a flight every weekend to go fix her Brazilian Hair in New York City and then charter a flight back on Monday morning… (e.g formmer Governor Ali Modu Sheriff )

    7. You must NOT carry dollars or foreign currencies and tag them “diplomatic” goods in very big leather bags (e.g Governor Godswill Akpabio and Dame Patience Jona)

    8. If you have held any public office before you must have invested atleast 80% of the stolen funds here in Nigeria like and not have invested 100% of them abroad just like Dr Peter Odilli (South Africa, Europe and USA), Ikedi Ohakim (South Africa), David Mark (Belize in North America, UK, USA and Brazil), Dimeji Bankole (Ghana, South Africa and UK), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (UAE, Sudan, UK), Rilwan Lukman ( Austria in Europe, UAE, and USA), Allison Dieziani Madueke (Austria in Europe and USA) and so on.

    …To be continued

TAMBUWAL WANTS TO HAVE HIS CAKE AND EAT IT

“As things stand, the PDP has regained full control of the House with about 206 members, while the APC controls about 151 lawmakers. Accord Party has two members, while Labour Party has one. The Speaker’s game plan is to ensure that he will escape removal from his seat should there be a plot by the PDP to impeach him. He is trying to get the support of more than 240 members to be in the safe zone,” another National Assembly source confided in SUNDAY PUNCH. Under Section 50(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President of the Senate or the Speaker can be removed from office if supported by the votes of “two-thirds” of all the members. Two-thirds of the 360 House members is 240.”

      • Yakubu Tilde

Tambuwal was elected as speaker by members of the house of reps across board; he wasn’t appointed by PDP. So PDP have no such powers to ask him to resign; only members of the house can vote him out.

What does the North contribute to Nigeria? Lets do a frank and non jaundiced assessment. In what ways do the Northern states contribute to Nigeria economically, financially, educationally or otherwise. In terms of human resources at home and abroad, technocrats, professionals from disparate fields etc…What percentage are from the North? Even in sports, what do they contribute? They are completely absent in female sports but the rest of Nigeria moves on.

Apart from confusion here and there and Terrorism and riots and killings, what else does the North contribute to continent Nigeria? How many people from the North are doing Nigeria proud abroad or at home from personal achievements and excellence or expertise in their field or profession? …Yet they pursue Jona as though the survival of the North depends on a Northerner being president. Why the noise about this Tambuwawa? Who and what is he? What has he achieved and contributed to humanity in his personal capacity via his profession or training? …he gets elected via ethnic consideration and becomes speaker via Federal character principle, and then suddenly becomes a budding political heavy weight. What a nauseating anomaly. No wonder, Nigeria is where she is. Who is Tambuwawa for badness sake? Nonsense.

But if you stay there in the swamp and think of issues such as female football, then, it’s too bad.

      • Gideon Orkar

And Warri and PHC are not in the Niger Delta?

      • Gideon Orkar

You have tried to claim some misplaced superiority and the problem of the Muslim North is evident in your post.

Down South people do more than dive under water in the search for periwinkles (not perewinkles) and crayfish, they dive under water to also dig for sand, they do all sort of back breaking jobs to eke out a living and to send their children to school. This is why a “periwinkle” diver can send their children to university without any form of scholarship. There is a “never say die” attitude in the South that is clearly lacking in the Muslim North and this is why this area outperforms the North in education, industry and all facets of life (except killings of course).

You have been fed on govt funds, scholarship and quota and your competitive edge has been blunted. Now you cannot compete on a level playing ground and hence the mad quest for political power so you can redress the so called “imbalance” between your region and the rest of Nigeria. You are light years behind the rest of Nigeria and unless thier is a cultural change on your part I am afraid no amount of political pwer can change the average Northerner. You would rather sit under a tree and open your mouths expecting manna to fall from heaven. Dude manna only rained from heaven in the bible. In Nigeria you have to dive under water to look for manna. Learn how to dive or remain diseased peasants.

I expected Tambuwal to have had the guts to move to APC long ago (just like the 5 governors did and other politicians did). Tambuwal was basically afraid to defect because he wanted to keep enjoying the perks of being the Speaker while still associating with APC. This for me is very troubling. And I feel this should also be of concern to APC. For APC, it should tell them that this man is more concerned with his comfort than principles which means he can do the same to them.

    • tundemash

why cry more than the bereaved? Let APC do the worrying.
Did it worry you when Mimiko romanced PDP for years before finally defecting at Aso Rock few weeks ago? What was your advice to PDP on Mimiko ?

  • Bambam

PDP is a locomotive engine fast losing steam..stop blowing hot air Olisa the ogboni man Metuh..Tambuwal remains the Speaker as he was elected Primus inter pares (first among equals) by his fellow Representatives..and not because he is from PDP..he remains in that position until his colleagues say otherwise..John Bercow remained the Speaker of the House of Commons in the UK in 2010 not because his party the Conservatives had a majority in the House..but because his colleagues believed in his ability and asked him to continue..you don’t just make noise because you can..Tambuwal ride on the law is on fully your side!!!

  • newvoice404

Morally one can say that Tambuwal should resign cos he is now in a minority party in the house but since PDP is the biggest culprit in playing immorality politics, Tambuwal and APC have to wait it out for members of the house of the reps to impeach Tambuwal. If however PDP cannot muster enough members to impeach him so be it. It totally means that PDP has shot itself in the foot and losing the abracadabra game PDP has so much encouraged and thrived-in so foolishly, for so long.

In that case PDP blind supporters/e-rats should heart and know that PDP is fast loosing ground. We that normally criticise PDP have warned them of their political and moral impunity- that what goes around comes around. The chicken is coming home to roost.

Hi austin007, since the taste of the pudding is in the eating, then do you no think it is right to test a man who was petroleum minister and built the ONLY 3 refineries in Nigeria today; wh became head of state and revamped the economy, paid up all debts, rejected loans and brought exchange rate to N2 to 1 USD; who was PTF chairman, constructed 10 times more roads in 3 years than constructed by the government in 30 years but refused to be paid special allowance for the jub insisting he is on pension from the FG; who rid Nigeria of corruption, fraud (419), drug trafficking etc; who always has to queue up in filling stations to fuel his car waiting for his turn; who refused the 23 million pension paid to past heads of state describing it as bogus and outrageous but officially opted for 2.3 million as his legitimate pension. All the above are verifiable facts. Perhaps if we try this pudding… At least, if it tastes sour, we can change it after 4 years.

          • austine007

But what about the extremist side of him? If we are guaranteed that he will not allow his religion to mar his good qualities as you have highlighted then he is the man to give the mandate. However, let him have a public debate for us to know if he really cares for the ordinary Nigerian. Remember, in 1993 presidential debate betwixt M.K.O Abiola and Bashar Toffa it was because Abiola knew the price of a cup of rice, garri in the market back then that endeared him to the people and that was why he was voted for massively despite being a Muslim/Muslim Ticket… GMB must convince us otherwise… We want to see him reach out to the feeling of the common-man on the streets of Lagos, Aba, Owerri, Kaduna, Kogi and so on… Let him come out to us.

Hey, all you folks out there hear the truth: APC transforming to PDP or PDP transforming to APC is not the SOLUTION to our problem… Changing party doesn’t change their INSATIABLE THIEVING nature. All we need are working institutions they strengthens our rights and privileges as NIGERIANS. Olisah Metuh (PDP’s publicity Secretary) beat up a teacher last time and nothing happened and yet he is shouting atop his voice against AMINU TAMBUWAL for lack of integrity. What kind of fallacy is that? Governor Rotimi Amaech (PDP to APC) defies court orders and he is shouting for justice, what hypocrisy? Governor Roochas Okorocha (PDP to APP then to APGA and then APC) defies court orders and yet claims APC is the solution to our problem… These are the same men who have not changed in Character but have changed in POLITICAL CLOTHING… A wolf no matter the sheep’s clothing it wears doesn’t stop it from being a wolf and acting as one when the opportunity avails itself. What we need are men of content and character not POLITICAL PARTIES!!!

    • Bambam

There is no room unfortunately for independent candidate in our electoral laws..the men of content and character would still need a party to get into office in Nigeria..so?

  • Achu Ejiofor

Nigeria is getting set to eat its own intestines. Aminu Tambuwal is on the road to writing history.
Never in world history has a minority political party produced the Speaker of Parliament – never.
If this infamy contemplated should stand for any reason, it’ll be nunc dimittis for Nigeria’s democracy.

    • Otile

What does the opportunist know about politics. With federal character anything goes, and his ignorant minions will support him all.

    • tundemash

Stop being an alarmist. Nothing is gonna happen. When Mimiko and others defected, did you cry wolf then ? So also never in the history has a candidate not supported by the majority party won the Speakership and Tambuwal did it so he’s always been creating history.
The only criteria of being a Speaker is that you must be a Representative hence all members voted and not just within the majority party. Cool down and lick your wounds, you win some, you lose some.

Nigeria died when Asari Dokubo the criminal was arrested and detained in Benin Republic and Goodluck Jonathan illegally used the power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to get the criminal Asari Dokubo released simply because Jonathan and Asari Dokubo are from Niger Delta and South South. Nigeria died on the day Pastor Oritsejafor ‘s private jet was involved in criminal and illegal transfer of $9.3m to South Africa and President Jonathan used the power of the federal republic of Nigeria to cover things up to save Oritsejafor’s face. Nigeria died on the day the name of the Israeli money launderer -Mr. Eyal Mesika was released and up till now the names of the other two Nigerian money launderers in the case of the $9.3m laundered to south africa were not released. Mr. Achu Ejofor, Nigerian democracy lover, what do you think? We should not be hypocritical-The Ijaw President Goodluck Jonathan killed Nigerian democracy looooong ago with impunity. The chicken has come home to roost. But please mind you, we are not in a parliamentary system where parties elect the head of the parliament-, other wise Tambuwal will not have been speaker because the so-called majority party did not want him then anyway-okay? Yu hear?

        abeg tell them

    • DecodeDaRiddle

In the first instance, PDP did not make him the speaker as they had their candidate. His peers made him candidate and yes he was dressed with the umblela and PDP enjoyed it while it lasted. His peers are still behind him and the truth is that the politics has suddenly become robust now that the number 4 man is an opposition member. History is made…PDP should watch and learn from their masters though a young party but with more sagacity.

  • DecodeDaRiddle

He is no longer your member so you cant advice him on the needful, when APC asked that PDP officials resign, it was called power grab through the back door. The PDP will learn a bitter lesson from this. Many 2nd term governor not allowed to anoint their successors are waiting to do the same, senators that the incumbent governors are planning to take their seats are also waiting. The lesson here is simply, “PDP proposes, APC disposes!

  • Ette

He cannot resign as his party is now in majority in the House. Go to court as he must remain the Speaker till end of his tenure. Shame on you wicked PDP.

    • Peter Udegbue

I doubt if you know what you are talking or whether you can read and comprehend. His new party is in the minority in the House of Representatives. Read well and try to understand before jumping to erroneous, misleading and delusive conclusion.

      • KB

Nigerian politicians dont resign from office. I belive he will decide to remain there. He is also not impeachable as 2/3 majority vote is required to take him out. the only available option is through the court and that will not work out before election runs get heated up. I think he made a good calculation that is likely to work for him. PDP will rather expend their resources on campaigns now than litigations.

  • Isi Agwo

They demand honour and integrity of others but when it is demanded of them…. All Nigerian politicians are donkeys. The party this man is joining, if they have any honour should compel him to do the right thing. If not, remove this donkey’s security team, stop paying his personal staff or deploy them, remove his official cars, stop paying him the salaries and allowances of a Speaker and then evict him from his official residence.

    • KB

Maybe we should try not to lay the cart before the ‘donkey’. Will it not make sense to start same with Mimiko of ondo state?

  • TRUTH MASTER

The opposition now controls the House of Representatives, following Tambuwal’s defection to the APC. That is the long and short of this whole issue.

From a party that Okupe boasted will never be registered to one that is now in charge of one of the two chambers in the National Assembly, the APC has come a long way.

But the best is yet to come: The party must work hard to occupy Aso Rock next year. With the long arc of time, the PDP is beginning to realize that the APC may not be a rollover next year after all.

  • MushinSpeaks

Last I remembered, Governor Mimiko defected recently and he still and today remains the Executive Governor of Ondo State. Why the bigot call on Tambuwal to resign?

It is also on record that Tambuwal clinched to the post of Speaker with the help of APC reps and few other sane members in the PDP.

His former party, charged him to step down but refused. So PDP had never in anyway contributed to him being the speaker.

Tambuwal will remain as Speaker till his tenure in the house expires.

I hope the boys on these politicians’ payroll will understand this.
