  • Bhadmos Taiwo

Why are all our leaders so heartless and insensitive? One thief just took over from another thief? When shall Nigeria be delivered from these devourers? Sentiment apart, it’s time we investigate all these rouges.

    • D-ONE

very funny!!!!! lol!!!! may God deliver us

  • the truth

i guess he was a pdp governor. Only pdp and its governors live in luxury, the opposition party and its candidates are saints. They love nigerians and won’t do anything to harm us. They are fighting corruption and will fight it to the end. I have said it countless times, don’t be deceived by this politicians, they are all the same. They don’t care about you or i, we are busy here trading words while they are busy emptying our coffers. open your eyes. corruption is pdp and apc. waiting for lie lie mohammed’s response

    • Wähala

Bayelsa State Govt. House is costed at a whopping N33bn…
Compare that to one completed at N3.3bn and it must be 7th. Heaven…

      • the truth

why bring up bayelsa on ekiti matters. all i am telling u is all these politicians are criminals, whether apc or pdp, but they keep telling u and i that since they are apc or pdp they are saints. if you believe them truly then kudos. fayemi and dickson have you at heart and dont steal, they have no godfathers and are corrupt free.

        • Wähala

“only PDP and its (Governors) live in luxury, the opposition party and its candidates are saints”

See, your above comment is partisan tainted that’s why I alluded to cost of Dickson’s Mansion. You may phool Gejitoes but not discerning minds with your fake neutrality. Former PDP Speaker of the House, Bankole, not only bought his former official house… he rented it back to Dr. Dumbo’s Govt. That is eating your cake and having it under this very corrupt Administration… Go-siddon!

  • Frank Bassey

Lai Mohammed must be doing this nation a great disservice if he fails to issue a statement on this “Progressive change” in Ekiti

  • Okikiola Beckley

These are the kind of opulence you will find in all the state houses across the nation. Don’t expect an ascetic lifestyle from any governor. We need a complete rebirth to make sense of anything we are doing.

  • Goodluck_Nigeria

JUST WAIT FOR THE DAY OF LAGOS STATE

The day Bola Tinubu’s 8years and Fashola’s 8years in Lagos State would be opened to the public ….. I bet all of you would collapse at what you would see ….. the greatest looting of public treasury ever in human history.

This one way una dey see dey shout na very small thing !!!

  • Bayo

How much is the cost of Bayelsa state government house again. 33 billion naira?

    • the truth

so two wrongs make a right. U close your eyes to what you just saw, but you are bringing up bayelsa. was this wrong or right. Why not address the issue at hand

      • Okemute1

I am not sure what you expect the governors residence to look like. Afterall it is there for the next governor to use. Now you said two wrong don’t make a right, you as a GEJ supporter always say things did not start under GEJ, does that mean they have to continue under him?
Fayose obviously does not have a plan for Ekiti, if he does, he will be busy implementing them by now. But so far he has being sending us pictures of the governors house.

  • DecodeDaRiddle

I am surprised that the items of opulence are still there. The way Fayose paints this picture is such that the items are not for government which by the way is a continuum. Fayose now has seen that there is no way for him bring a contractor for anything again so he has to complain. The governor(outgone and new) dont deserve a jacuzzi or leather chairs? He wants a wardrobe made by a carpenter that will produce dust from termites in the house abi? The only thing i will entertain now is if the contract process if fraudulent such as inflated contracts and products paid for but not delivered.
I know people who during his 1st term did contracts in Ekiti and told me of the deals they cut with Fayose to have such approved. I await the day he will move into that house and lay his head, we shall then know that Fayose is not allergic to good things. He built houses in Lagos and Ibadan and EFCC had to seal those houses back then because they are proceeds of fraud. He is yet to accuse Fayemi of stealing Ekiti money so he should commence his probe to label Fayemi a thief like himself and you know what….Fayemi too should return 4 years time and say he too has changed and be elected. In all the electorates of Ekiti are the victims. Fayose, shut up and drive.

  • akpos1

Oghene! This is wonderfully wonderful. Please someone should help me ask Head of Prisons if there is still space in there? I will even prefer a non volatile Boko haram member to be replaced by this ex-Governor, just in case there is no space anymore.

Na wao! So all the allocations from my oil monies from by beloved South South Republic goes into beautification of ‘residence’ while the people learn under trees or on top of the ubiquitous Ekiti rocks. Wickedness plenty for our continent. Where is Liar Mohammed? Where is Oloye Egbonmi? …who allocated a fortune of Lagos states revenue as pension benefits. Haba! Gates of hell, be expanded to accommodate thieving and irresponsible scallywag & disgruntled Nigerian politicians. I refer ONLY to the corrupt and I have no apologies whatsoever.

The suffering in Nigeria is just too much…yet, people are flying up & down with jets? It is insane stupidity. May the corrupt politicians from which ever country of Nigeria, from which ever party, rot in the hottest part of hell. Spiuuuuusssshhhhh……

  • Captain Haddock

    The APC hirelings are quiet.
    But sometimes, the silence speaks.
Had it been GEJ, they would have filled this space with their taskmasters target: #100 comments per minute.
    Hahahaha! I dey LaffooooO!!

    • KD

What are you talking about? You guys are the hypocrites!! This is the kind of opulence that you’d find in all the State Houses across the nation. What have the pictures revealed that you hateful people have not seen before? Did Fayemi take the furniture with him!!?? Fayose is a lousy uncultured tout, and he has all of you where he wants you (i.e, drinking from the palm of his hands). Awon ode!!!!

      • Captain Haddock

I agree this is the kind of opulence replicated in all government houses.
BUT DOES THAT MAKE IT RIGHT??
I criticize both PDP/APC when I feel they’ve gone wrong.
Some of you ONLY criticize when PDP goes wrong, but are silent when APC members goof!
What then then is your idea of hypocrisy oga?????
        You are a disgrace sir!

        • KD

You and your generation are a disgrace!!!!

    • Wähala

You’re wrong to look at everything from a partisan prism. How much is in our annual budget for food at the Villa? Has the PDP done anything to change that since that first request for N1bn for Dr. Dumbo’s feeding ati ogogoro? Would you welcome a ‘Round Robin’ across the 36 States Govt Houses and their costs lets gauge the worse offenders between APC ati PDP? Condemn corruption and waste no matter whose shoes you step on… Gejito!

      • umunnem

Wahala I don’t get you…are you “defending” Fayemi here? For what? For building a beautiful State House? Aint no corruption here bros so nothing to defend. Can they please find something else? BTW, can anyone hook me up with the interior designer/decorator of this edifice? Good job!!!

        • Wähala

Read my earlier comment. I said he misplaced his priorities as Governor by building such wasteful house for himself and future governors… to get it, go back to the top!

  • Gotlieb Adebayo

If fayose has nothing to do he should please resign he is a bigger thief,it is easy to criticize people, did fayemi convert the property to his personal assets….

    • [MMXV]

      Fayose is a ‘bigger’ thief.
Implying Fayemi is a smaller thief.
      But still a thief.
      APC represents change.
      A change in fragrance.
This time it’s the smell of dog crap!

      • Gotlieb Adebayo

Dude i am in PDP i hate false prophets …is fayose a saint , he think Nigerian are still forgetful lots he has forgot there is google whatever you do now stay on google

        • [MMXV]

This has nothing to do with PDP/APC.
          Corruption has no party affiliations.
          ‘Fayose is not a saint’.
Tell us about Fayemi in light of these revelations!

          • Ay

Which revelation are you talking about? Are you insane? That a man left such a legacy for the State is a sin? He should rather have left a shamble government house and used the money to build a befitting mansion for himself? It’s obvious everyone condemning the laudable project have brain touch

          • [MMXV]

My grouse is NOT With the ‘legacy’ in itself.
            But;
            1. Was it a priority vis-a-vis the numerous needs of the Ekiti people?
            2. Was the amount spent on the beds overpriced??
            These are the issues oga.!

          • Leslie

And have you verified these claims by Fayose against Fayemi?Invoices, receipts? Nothing right!hmmm!

    • Gideon Orkar

If fayose has nothing to do he should please resign he is a bigger thief,it is easy to criticize people, did fayemi convert the property to his personal assets….

  • Gee

It is on record that Bayelsa state is spending N33b on it’s own Government house!
    Are the builders from Space?
Fayose is obviously not ready for serious governance…

    • the truth

so if bayelsa is spending 33billion, fayemi was right in what he did? that is the mentality that has kept nigeria where we are. instead of coming out to condemn something bad and corrupt politicians when they err, you hold on to bayelsa to justify what fayemi did.

    • Gideon Orkar

It is on record that Bayelsa state is spending N33b on it’s own Government house! Are the builders from Space?
Fayose is obviously not ready for serious governance…

      Say something more sensible

    • gymer

Brother Gee, Bayelsa income from the federation account is more than times 10 of Ekiti. Besides, Bayelsa is not using borrowed funds to buil whereas Ekiti borrowed money to build a government house. lastly whereas Ekiti is owing workers salaries, Bayelsa is not owing,.

      • Dr. Kay

See your double talk and poor logic, is building material 10 times expensive in Akwa ibom? When was these state house built and when did not paying salary occurred? Was it not now when Dumbo started reducing allocations to states especially APC governed ones and Paying the PDP governed states through the back door? What about the hospital opened by Atiku recently , is that one also not excessive overspending by Fayemi? Awon eranko with no brains!

  • kamal Kamoru

No one is talking now it is APC.
    Excuses, excuses ;
    Lai(r) Mohammed is in a coma(self induced)
    Wähala has Ebola.
Charge & Bail lawyer Dr Kay has ‘Jedi-Jedi’
TundeMESS (and his pseudo names) is on drips after a prolonged session with his gay partner.
Sanusi Yaradua was hit by a stray bullet in sambisa.
I can’t remember the names of the other inconsequential hypocrites.
But they are all groveling in a pit in shame somewhere.
    SHAME ON THEM ALL!

    • umunnem

What do you want APC to say? To join Fayose in the “gutter”? Clearly the man Fayose has no taste and no class. Where is the corruption here? Fayemi built a house worthy of HE…any Governor. It is beautiful, tasteful and about the right price. APC has better thinks to talk about than this…everybody cannot be a Poultry farm Thief abeg.

    • Leslie

You’re the one who should be ashamed of yourself.try upgrading everything about yourself for a start.Begin with your brain.

Premium Times Stands Out For Constant Truth-telling

I have observed highest ethical professional practice by Premium Times Editorial Board as far as internet publication is concerned. Kudos to the reporters and editorialists for standing up for the truth at all times, regardless whose ox is gored. This is what true journalism means.

In Nigeria, The Punch newspaper also stands out in the broadsheet category of journalism. All others, i regret to say, are battling with compromises and prejudices to sift and slant all news-reports to make them fit a preconceived political choice. That is not journalism. In fact, that commonplace affliction of bias in the media is worse than propaganda.

Dishonest journalism seeped in propaganda should be condemned. In this instance, is it any surprise that in the whole of Nigeria, only Premium Times and The Punch newspaper felt able to publish this truthful story? Of course, it’s no surprise! Other media houses are too shackled by vested interests, and fetter their own discretion to tell the whole truth, by an evil form of self-censorship. Kudos to Premium Times for standing in the gap for Nigerians under the rule of thieves.

      @ BJ,

Theft has created a crass elite structure in Nigeria having no sensible member
a Nigerian youth can look up to as innovative and morally upright role model
amongst the treasury thieves prancing around in criminal garb as politicians.

  • growthengine

I think the building and furniture are beautiful and are standard enough for government house. The most important thing is that Fayemi left the property for the incoming government and never converted it to personal use. The pictures show quality build and furnishing which also means the govt got value for money spent. I do not agree with Fayose on this one, I think it will backfire on him, the pictures tell a very impressive story about Fayemi’s standards. Corruption would have been if Fayemi attempted or succeeded in converting the property to personal use or if the building and furnishing are not worth the money spent.

    • Lanre

You miss the point. What Fayose is saying is that progressives should not be sleeping on beds with duvets and sheets. Not only that. Colored in Gold. Fayemi has gone against the progressives creed. I hope Aregebesola is sleeping on a mat!

  • akpos1

Lawrence Anini will be wondering why he got treated differently from his colleague and ex-Governor with a Britico PhD. I can imagine the kind of beating he will receive when he eventually meets face to face with Lawrence. No be small thing o!

  • isaac

Thats why when some said on vanguard that Buhari will change Nigeria to Dubai in 4years, i knew that our delusion as a country will be hard to cure. See my friends, i will advise us here to know what we want from every in-coming Governmet as request they do it before they live. Honestly everyone of them are the same but we are the losser here. Tell everyone seeking your vote what they will do for you and your people that is realizable. If we can get one right in each Governmet, then maybe our future will be better than our past.

  • Dr. Kay

I still don’t get why you guys are foaming in the corner of your mouths and saying APC guys are silent. Silent about what? You want him to build a shack as Ekiti government house ? Now what I want you guys to worry about and start shouting about is if the house does not worth what was claimed to be the price. We are hearing 2.4billion, now can we see documents , contractors paid any kickback changing hands, because all I’m hearing is a legitimate Ekiti house that was built at a price thumb sucked by Fayose which Fayemi handed over without looting even the ridiculously priced 50 million Naira bed. Now what I want to hear is paper trails of embezzlement , kickbacks etc. if not , nothing opulent about what belongs to Ekiti. Now why we are at it , I will like Dumbo to show us his bedroom and sitting room ,I will cast the first stone at Fayemi if his bed is made of bamboo and his pillow is filled with grass. Me I dey laugh at the foolishness of these PDP apologists, Fayemi is clean until you can clearly state that he corruptly enriched himself, so mr governor if you have no smoking gun , can you please go and govern your stomach challenged subjects , they need more rice and food provisions.!

    • simeon

Dr. Kay, you are very lucid and erudite in your analysis. I salute and appreciate you. Can you kindly draw comparison between this house that belongs to Ekiti and the BMW cars that belongs to Nigeria but was bought by Stella Oduah and was kicked out of office?

      • Dr. Kay

Number 1 Bmw cars were fraudulently overpriced through cascharis motors and fraudulent customs waiver approved by NOI, number2 ,the cars are for the sole use of Stella and not Nigeria. Number 3 you can’t guarantee the next aviation minister will use the same car, he/she may love Mercedes , so my point is Fayemi did well , but let’s be circumspect and ask to see what the real price of the building is , I don’t trust Fayose’s figure, then let’s wait for Fayemi to defend himself on why he put Ekiti house before delivery of services to his people.

        • MrFesh

Native doctor. A 50milla couple of beds is under-priced. You support anything you are affiliated to no matter how heinous. Hapless thugs.

          • Leslie

Mumu.Isn’t it the same fayose that said the state’s debt was 80billion only to turn around saying it was 50billion the next day. That’s who you’re all jumping to believe.

    • Nnaemeka Emma Chikezie

U are a hypocite.simple!!!!D lifestyle of a leader must reflect his peoples stage in life.Afterall he is their reflection.Building an ekiti whitehouse when he hasnt paid salaries is treasonable nd he deserves to be shot at stake.

  • Wähala

Who has seen pictures of the Banquet Hall in Aso Villa… where N1bn is swallowed on food & beverages per annum? The roof is renovated every year at astronomical cost in our budget. What about the Chimps in the Villa Zoo and the cost of catering for them? Fayose definitely has a point about the need to obviate wasteful spending on vanity things, but at least, Fayemi build a befitting house for Ekiti Governor albeit, misplacing his priority which is to cater for the pauper citizens of Ekiti. Governor Akpabio built an ultra-modern stadium in Akwa Ibom, who knows how much he ducked his citizens for that and those beautiful road roundabouts with colorfully lighted fountains at night? Gov. Amaechi nko… who treated two Ebola cases with N1.4bn? So, na dia way. After all, who knows how much it cost IBB to finish the 3rd. Mainland Bridge in Eko, before relocating to FCT Abuja which his goons in Julius Berger built and are still building at 1barrel of oil per km… thieves, but better to build first class hospitals and castles at home than in Dubai at South Africa!

    • the truth

my brother corruption has no party affiliation. All these politicians are the same. same corrupt people with different parties

    • djay

aso rock is far what about the govt house in bayelsa where N33 billion is expended and in Akwa Ibom State the Government House built at the cost of 7.4 Billion Naira in 2008 to 2009 also added a Banquet Hall in the 2010 Budget at cost of N10 Billion Naira. Today Akwa Ibom State Government House Complex is worth N17.4 Billion Naira and must be the only of its kind in Africa. .

      • Wähala

My point remains: Let them build paradise in Nigeria, no one lives in Govt. House forever! Have you seen The Heroes Sqaure in Owerri… Lord, Have Mercy!

    • Gideon Orkar

So you are justifying spending N50 Million on 2 beds?

      #I give up

  • Ay

I see. This is why Nigerians get the rulers they deserve! Many would have preferred that Fayemi built a mud house as government house and privately build a mansion for himself, right? Kudos to ex Gov Kayode Fayemi. Posterity will surely judge you positively … Consider Fayose as an illiterate who will always behave like one!

  • Ajayi Ifayemi

What is the opulence here? Mtchew!!!

  • Mark Nsikan

if 3.3 billion wa spent on a govt house by fayemi…den we are in deeper shit…..i wonda hw states like akwaibom spend dia money…..omo money dey ooo

  • Uncle Yomi

    Dr Kay & AY,

Reading your separate comments below i come to two quick conclusions about Nigerians.
Nigeria cannot be rescued from the morass by rational discussion – now made impossible .
On the face of the earth Nigerians are the only species who justify their own rape by others.
They strongly argue to defend those who rob them and deprive their society of sustenance.
Such crass quality of people can’t be saved by democracy but by enlightened dictators

    • [MMXV]

      Uncle, uve said it all.
It’s scary when I read comments from very intelligent and educated people STRUGGLING to defend obvious sleaze out of ‘party loyalty’.
It’s sad. But says a lot about their character.

      • Olusegun Adekoya

You get it wrong..what i have noticed is that we have many “educated illiterates” in Nigeria that lack basic analytical capacity.. imagine the populace defending this indefensible corrupt ridden spending

    • Dr. Kay

Kamal your conclusion is misdirected, methinks you should be pointing directly at yourself. Ara e ni iso to run (you are the one who’s fart is smelling all over). Be rational in your thinking. I said you can’t believe a thug that just dish out a figure at every whim and you call yourself a rational person that does not make a hasty conclusion. Fayose’s antecedents preceeeds him as unreliable, corrupt and someone to verify before accepting his statements, do you believe in this 50million Naira bed? That’s my point exactly , hope we on the same page now.

    • Olusegun Adekoya

thank you thank you thank you…i pity our people..imagine what 3.3billion naira would have done to improve the quality of life in Ekiti…hmmm

    • Ay

It’s you who’s deluded and unrealistic in your thinking! You need to free yourself from backwardness. What you are seeing in the picture isnt more than a young man I know put up for himself! Governorship is an exalted position and there is a lot of sense in providing the seat with its own comfort. What I expected from Fayose is to revalue the property with a view to detecting possible fraudulent acts. This propaganda is uncalled for and it can only come from an illiterate who has already exposed himself that the state will never be better than he met it. Let him use all Ekiti money to feed … i hope you will join him!

  • Illusive man

This post just triggered several questions on my mind; What happened to the previous government house and apart from that, does it mean that a befitting house worth 3.3Billion had to be his top priority during the 4 years of his tenure? Hmm… He wants a celebrity mansion when the house of civil servants is nothing to write home about.

  • umunnem

This looks like my bedroom o… And you call it opulence? But he did not build it for himself remember. This is supposed to be a lasting institution for whoever is Governor. All you do is repaint and change the sheets!! Have you all seen the inside of the White House? Abeggiii!!

    • Dr. Kay

Lol , when White House was built they were all shouting about opulence , and insensitivity abi no be so ? Even over a century later it’s still looks immaculate , money well spent . So what has Fayemi done that is wrong?he’s left a lasting legacy for Ekiti to be proud of , I think Fayemi is jealous that he did not sleep in the house first.

    • oga boss

Did Stella odua buy the BMW cars for herself??? But u all wanted her crucified.

      • Wale

Yes she bought them for her self; the story changed when she got caught with her hands in the cookie jar.

    • Gideon Orkar

and you spent N30 million (£110,000.00) buying your bed right?

  • Ogom

What can I say, Fayemi has good taste.. Maybe that’s what bothering Fayose? He was hoping to move into more gaudy accommodation 🙂

That said, it was wasteful given the socko-economic context in Ekiti State BUT modest in comparism to his peers AND, I repeat, in very good taste!

    • Dana-ija

Fayemi has taste with people’s money? Wonder will never cease. What kind of logic is this?

      • Ogom

Well, it’s better than having ‘no taste’ with other people’s money 🙂

Plus, as I said it is a lot cheaper than a lot of other ‘government houses”. For example, the government house in Akwa Ibom cost double that, at N7.4 billion (excluding N10b banquet hall). The Bayelsa State governor’s office cost 10 times that, at N33 billion.

Plus, Fayose actually gets to walk into fully furnished accommodation, unlike in Edo State, where Lucky Igbinedion emptied the place right down to the “cutlery”, leaving an empty shell for Oshimole to inherit.

Fayose should just settle down and face the job, instead of yacking on about someone who’s shoes he is unworthy to kiss.

  • Mr. Arsenal

Is this mansion Fayemi’s or Ekiti’s?

Pls, all Dumbo’s sympathizers should answer this

    • Ekwekwe

Congo DR citizens could have asked the same questions as you did when Mobutu Sese Seko’s presidential mansion was thrown open for the public to see. Do not forget that Fayemi was expecting that Ekiti people would vote him back in for another 4 years. So, he was building it for himself and his family. Now I know why Fayose called him a wicked man. Turn the building to a psychiatric hospital because it was built out of madness.

  • Wale

This Fayose guy is just a JOKER: I do not see any extra ordinary opulence in these pictures, If he thinks its too much for him, fair enough, move to the old government house and put this one up for a bid. I might be able to buy it and turn it to an HOTEL.
This guy would be an Hippocrate if he spend a night in that building. I wouldn’t call it a mansion, come to TEXAS and see “MANSIONS”

    • blogNaija

Gov Fayose stop the noise, if money no lost and it’s now the property of the state, simply sell the house and do your own.

      • Dana-ija

So, the culprit goes free deceiving the rest of us that he served us well when indeed he mismanaged or stole our money!

    • Goodluck_Nigeria

      You must be deluded

Fayose’s problem is not about what you see in the pictures …….. Fayose’s problem is all about the waste of public funds such as N50million spent to purchase only two beds for Fayemi and his wife Bisi.

      Please be guided accordingly.

      • Wale

Why the delusion comment……….. Make your point without insulting the person.
Don’t forget that your guy Fayose still has a case to answer with Corrupt ridden EFCC. Of course, he has not been proven guilty yet. in couple years, he’ll be lucky if he doesn’t end up in the pen.

        • Dana-ija

Just like your Hero Tinubu who attended a primary school that is not on the surface of the Earth!

      • Eagle Eye

        Reno Omokri is here!

      • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Mr. Fayose must be a seer and very hard working governor who goes into minute details to have spotted an “innocuous” 50 million item for beds, but has miraculously missed the receipt to show us!

The shame of a hypocrite like you. We dey await when you would castigate anyone in this forum again.

He that covers evil will not prosper!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

Your last sentence is so prophetic!

Would it explain why your present situation remain so pathetic?

          • Dana-ija

You this charge and bail lawyer! Why is logic so foreign to you? I thought it is the first thing they teach you in law?

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

And simple logics taught you to abuse instead of proffering your own argument?

Reminds me of this song they taught us to repeat before eating yesteryears ago, “some have food, but cannot eat…!”

Seems I should change this for you, “Some have brains, but cannot think…!”

          • Dana-ija

            Amen !!!!!!

        • D1

Ha! So you are in support of this kind of opulence, in a state that the allocation, is one of the least in the federation, which is by the side by the way. And I understand this was built from the loan sourced from the capital market! I think you should put politics aside for once, and condemn what is evil.
We’ve heard severally the reasons given by Fayemi for not paying salaries and what not. This kind of grand opulence does not make his excuses believable!
Just Imagine if someone owes you fees for job done and giving various excuses for not paying, and you discover he is constructing this kind of building, what will you do Sir? Honestly!
          I am very DISAPPOINTED!

          • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

            Don’t be disappointed, D1.

The first thing I did was to call for a probe of Fayemi’s regime.

I do not subscribe to crowd baiting; which is what Mr. Fayose is doing presently.

If the probe unearths anything, then we shall demand for the law to take its course; until then, all else is all sound and no fury.

    • Tugbi

This is just like the way every new govt house look like what is spectacular here. Chair, table, cabinet, wad rope, tires floor an individual in Ekiti can build this. He is just showing to the world that Ekitis are local

      • Wale

Very local my brother; a lot of people in that state are educated, But that is different from being smart.
Fayose won the election on distribution of uncooked bags of rice, while Fayemi (not very smart) distributed cooked rice that can only be eaten on the spot.

      • Dana-ija

No. You miss the point. How can you build 3.3 billion naira mansion in a state where pensioners are dying of hunger because of unpaid salaries for months?

        • Tugbi

U need to be truthful to ur self.So bcos of pensioners no state project shud be done the governor’s guest shud be lodge in an hotel and millions will be used to pay for them. Always look at advantage/disadv of any issue b4 reacting

    • Dana-ija

It is the money wasted that causes uproar. In a state where salaries are owed, how can you claim you bought a 50 million naira bed! Haba!!!

  • Dr. Rotimi Anise

FEELING SORRY FOR PROFESSOR WOLE SOYINKA

I only pity Professor Wole Soyinka who has not had clarity of thought
in the endorsements he’s been giving, including his ratification of this
heinous crime by Alhaji Kayode Fayemi. History may not be kind to Professor Soyinka
for the outrageous choices and judgment he’s made in this 4th Republic —
whose leitmotif is corruptive theft added by self-indulgent and un-accountable
    seizure of the public treasury.

What the ex-Governor, Alhaji Kayode Fayemi, did to Ekiti state
treasury is heinous. Fayemi had himself in mind at the design stage of the palace
in the photos above. That is the point almost all the contributors writing
below lost sight of. Fayemi designed it as his own residence until the year 2018
There was no public interest straddling this outrageous project which was
motivated partly by theft through the over-invoicing of these luxury fittings.

Whilst Alhaji Kayode Fayemi smooched on this water bed in the night,
the opportunity cost for Ekiti state workers was hunger because
there was no money left to pay salaries for three months till now.
That is the evil underlying what this African [Kayode Fayemi] did to his own people.

    • walejohnson

You are short sighted. I have just seen on 4.00PM NTA news today, the new Govt office just built by the Jos govt. It is this type of structure that will entise tourists to Ekiti state. What does it matter if he wanted to live in that house. Please ask Jonathan to pay the state the billions he is owing and stop making noise on flimsy issues.

      • By Popular Demand

………The Fiasco of Professor Wole Soyinka’s 2nd endorsement

Lagos state government has earned $40 billion plus in revenues between 1999 and now.
The money – less salary and running expenses – was partly shared between Bola
Tinubu, and Raji Fashola under corporate guise in the worst scam ever in modern
        Yoruba history.

Last year, Lagos state floated a loan bond of about 80 billion Naira and got public
investors to subscribe for repayment with interest but once the bond was fully
subscribed, Raji Fashola took 40% of that money – about 35 billion Naira or so
        – and handed it over in cash to Bola Tinubu, via a bogus corporate front.

This patently corrupt deal was ostensibly to buy back Lagos state ‘concession
rights’ on the Lekki tolled Expressway, according to Raji Fashola. But what the
corrupt and clever by half Raji Fashola did not say is that the land at issue
belongs to Lagos state and was never sold to Bola Tinubu’s company in the first
place. Or did Bola Tinubu’s company invest 35 billion Naira developing the road.

In other words, by sheer fraud, Raji Fashola paid Bola Tinubu 25 years profit upfront
without any further work. A lien was then imposed on Lagos state allocation of
federal revenue for the next three [3] years to pay for this 80 billion Naira
debt by all Lagos residents. This transaction must count as the worst fraud
ever in Yoruba history since Nigeria became independent on October 1, 1960.

In fact, On May 21st, 2014, the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Ayodeji Gbeleyi,
confirmed that Lagos state debts, as at May 2014, stood at N435 billion –
including N275 billion in bonds – equivalent to 2.7 billion United States
dollars. Now, discounting monthly interest rates on the commercial portion of
this debt, the gross Lagos state government debt is now equal to all of the
expected federal revenue allocation to Lagos state in the next three and half
years, at $3.7 billion, without equivalent benefits on the ground to show for
        it – dollar for dollar.

        • Gideon Orkar

APC e-rats wont listen to you. Tinubu is without blemish in their eyes

    • Ahoy

      @Dr Anise:

Na so O! But it was the same Professor Soyinka tilting his head at an angle in the second republic to
wax lyrical and utter dire imprecations over just one bottle of champagne Chief Adisa Akinloye ordered –
branded. My people, i beg una, the beautiful ones are not yet born here. Hypocrites have cluttered the
Nigerian space to completely block the vision of a distressed country under the rule of thieves but
still pretending with mere slogans and platitudes as a country under the rule of law.

  • Seriously

What is opulent in any of these pics? Even IKEA furniture looks better. You can complain that the amount of money spent isn’t justified because everything in these pics put together multiplied by 5, shouldn’t even be up to N1bn. There’s a case for contract inflation maybe. Other than that, everything in the photos looks regular.

    • Wale

That is my point. That is exactly what I had in mind when I posted my view.

    • Gideon Orkar

is it the IKEA furniture that is made out of biscuits that is better than what has been put on display? Yes excessive contract inflation but IKEA furniture is not better by any stretch of the imagination

    • Cypo

You are talking about IKEA products, but did you care to ask how many Industries Fayemi attracted to Ekiti State all the 4 years? Did you ask how many young Graduates of Ekiti State are unemployed? Did you care to ask how much money Ekiti State generate as internal revenue (IGR) in a year multiply by 4? Did you care to ask about the economic development blue-print Fayemi developed all the 4 years? Did you care to know that Ekiti State is not an Oil producing state? Did you care to know that Ekiti State runs to Abuja every Quarter begging for Money from the federal allocation? Did you care to ask why Fayemi could not pay workers since July? Did you care to know that Fayemi went to Stock market to take Loan only to use the Loan to finance Consumption? In your opinion, you believe that financing consumption is the best way to govern State. In the past 4 years Ekiti State has been going down in WAEC/NECO organized Exams, did you care to ask why Ekiti State/Fountain of knowledge suddenly became grouped with states like Adamawa, Yobe, Kebi, Sokoto? Please, bro, it is not good to be a Praise Singer. Call a Spade a Spade.

  • sir Oscie

Was is house not like this during your last regime?

  • MushinSpeaks

Firstly, I think we should not take what Fayose says to be true. This is someone that has been spreading falsehood and making serious and calculated attempt to demonize Ex-governor Fayemi.

The house in question here was built and Fayemi did not even sleep a night in that building. So why criticizing him?

Our elite and wealthy men in the society have more of these in their domain and many even consider this as “too small” for a governor.

The pictures he has releases to the media is nothing but a move to garner sympathy which he has failed.

Building a structure of this for the state is not wrong and its a lasting state legacy.

That Fayemi is quiet doesnt mean he has no answer or cannot counter Fayose but there is huge difference between light and darkness.

    • D1

Sir, you mightn’t be outraged by what you just saw, but the message is crystal clear! These acclaimed “progressives” are not different from their colleagues(PDP governors) they accused daily of one graft or the other. They take care of themselves FIRST! And I don’t understand WHY you called this live pictures falsehood???
Except you live in lala land, it is common knowledge that these set of politicians we have in Nigeria at present, are all thieves!

      • MushinSpeaks

But there are still few we can trust. You cant find saint in politics bro…however, the few that can be trusted under a credible platform should be given a benefit of doubt sir.

    • Dana-ija

You are a complete “Oniyeye.” You must think the rest of us are fools like you. Olodo!

    • koko

so why dont you allow him answer for himself.

  • Kola Adeoye

I think Alhaji John Kayode Fayemi needed water bed to govern poor farmers in Ekiti state very well.
Those abusing him have not read the latest research into the techniques of “Modern Governance”.
Even in physics and even in sexual relations it has been proved that opposite forces attract, no be so?
How can you then be attracted to very poor people if you are not their opposite by being very very rich?
It is just pure common sense! Alhaji John Kayode Fayemi has brought wonderful innovation to governance.
We should praise him and not criticize him unduly for bringing civilization to all the other Nigerian governors.

  • Comfortkay

If this mansion is a problem for a governor that was removed once from power, then Nigerian has every right to see and know how Aso Rock look like inside. If Fayose has a plan he should start putting them in place and stop these daily noise of Dr kayode Fayemi did during his term of office.

  • Akiika

I agree that Fayose is no moralist and infact a scoundrel that is not eligible for the position he’s holding, i will equally not absolve Fayemi of this grand profligacy. How on earth will a Governor spend N3.3 Bill on a Govt. house while the state is in N38 billion debt. This is preposterous, absolutely outrageous and height of profligacy. Fayemi should be ashamed of himself. Wasn’t there a Govt’ house when he came in? I assure you this profligacy cuts across board…all the Governors irrespective of party. The grand opulence is at aso rock, i have a relative that has visited…..i hear white house is no match for it.

    • Dana-ija

Thanks for your fairness. It is what we are talking about. We should stop the hypocrisy!

  • AMA AMOAH

What a pity? Ayo Fayose, God gave you another chance to rectify past wrong just like the king who got extra fifteen years when he cried to God. Instead of you to be crying for mercy, you have opened the chambers of the seat of your state to your enemies. Prophet Isaiah said “At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered. And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not” You have shown that you are the wicked one. STOP SPREADING EKITI DIRTY LINENS OUTSIDE
Truly you have not learnt anything. All your friends who you opened the doors of your state to will never trust you anymore. You have by your own hands stay the hand of the Lord. Proverb 24:15 -18 says,”Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place; For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles, Or the LORD will see it and be displeased, And turn His anger away from him”

    • Dana-ija

So is it fayemi who is now exposed to security risk from these exposure!. No one knows how the internals of the house Fayemi stays looks like. The one we now know is that of Fayose’s current abode!!.
Fayose should just have handed Fayemi over to EFCC if he feels any criminal activities have taken place, otherwise he should shut the trap and face his work that he has been elected to do!!

    • sharp shape

Ole supporters of ole ! Shame shame !

  • Alex

I want to believe a serious government should be occupied with defining its cardinal points rather than trying very hard for that matter to discredit an outgone regime. Is this how to put food on the table of Ekiti people? Clock is ticking, four years would soon be gone. Please stop chasing shadow and face hurdle of governance in earnest…my candid advice.

    • tsunami1earthquake

Can you for once listen to yourself? You call this scandalous string of photographs trivial or something? Was it not money that was used to buy such irritating comfort while the people starved, moaned and groaned as a result of hardship? For once let’s call a spade a spade and call a thing what it should actually be: an irritating and callous display of misplaced priorities that were obviously tainted in dehumanizing perpetration of corruption. What was Governor Fayemi, a potentate or something? In my view, ex-Governor Fayemi should be arrested and tried for brazen misuse of public funds with accompanying mix of corruption.

      • Alex

If the government of Mr. Fayose really meant what he is saying about the outgone administration headed by Dr Fayemi, let EFCC and ICPC do their job and let’s stop the bullshit. As I said earlier, clock is ticking…tick …tack. We will soon be fed up.

        • D1

Sir, I hope you understand, this is one of main reasons Ekiti indigenes voted Fayemi out of office, spending scarce resources on elephant projects that has no impact or bearing on the indigenes or their welfare. No one is accusing him of corruption, but spending billions on this kind of opulence, while salaries is being owed and pensioners starved of their pittance is pathetic.

    • Okey

Since that is well to your soul, As Ekiti civil servants were owed for months whilst Fayemi embarked on this vanity, so will earnings from your handwork be frittered away in vanity and you and your house hold go to bed empty stomached and may anyone that raises alarm or come to your aid by demonized !

    • Lorddaniels

The N3b looted by Fayemi by inflating the cost of a N300m to N3.3b would go a long way in putting food on the table of Ekiti had it been that the progrethieve governor was not as wicked.

    • Tugbi

Fools are saying instead of paying the civil servant that he is building Govt House. Its on record Fayemi never own salary till Sept Salary and it was Fayose that wrote the banks not to honour Fayemi expenses in the mid August.Fayemi had not owned any civil servant there salary for the past 4yrs. Its seems some are saying governors shud not do capital project like building, road construction bcos Ekiti is poor so shud b paying salary alone and sometimes buy food for ALL Hungry Ekiti people can u see there line of arguement? They want food rice stomach infrastructure.

  • lala

Firstly, very nice pictures. So at least we are confident we have a lovely facility in Ekiti which is available to the Governors so I believe there is no need to build a new one anytime soon.

Lastly, we now look forward to performance reports of ex-governors displayed by incoming governors henceforth through this open forum which I consider a milestone improvement for an open democracy.

    Long live Nigeria

  • Concerned Citizen

This is just PR. I wonder what other PDP governors’ bedrooms look like. Infact forget governors what about ministers and reps. This whole thing is a distraction. He should govern his state and fix whatever his complaining about and stop crying. He is Governor now so lets see what he can do.

      • Concerned Citizen

Please read the comment well. Now because i gave a common sense response to the situation does not mean i support any party or accept corruption. And why is it that when people comment here they are accused of either being PDP or APC. Not everything is partisan. Fayose has made accusations time and time again against his predecessor like he and PDP are saints. I simply pointed out the obvious.

  • Ayodeji Otiti

What I expect the new governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Ayo Fayose, to tell the world he has not mentioned it- and it is that, the mansion was built in his predecessor’s name: “Kayode Fayemi Palace”. Additionally, he, governor Ayo Fayose, should also have informed us that, Kayode Fayemi has since sold to himself, or his wife, or his first son or daughter, the same mansion he claims to have built for the Ekitis with Ekitis’ money; and at such a ridiculous, sinful and mouth-gaping price that the money he pays to purchase the people’s mansion could not even buy a door knob. Then we will have a good, legitimate and valid cause to complain, and/or find a way to secure the assistance of the EFCC-sniffing dogs to hunt Dr. Kayode Fayemi down, and making sure that he does not rest his liver on the gallbladder. And that will be a small problem, because if he could lead a gang of brigands, hooilgans and miscreants into court and thrash the judiciary and send a high court judge to hospital with such a never-before-seen impunity, he only needs to make a call to Abuja.

Indeed we know what people do in Abuja, and across the public office holding realms across Nigeria. We certainly know that Senators, House of Reps. members, Speakers of the House and Senate “Presidos” and all manners of public officials easily buy their official residences at peanuts, thereby pilfering from the nation, and wasting the scarce nation’s resources- it is corruption extravaganza! That Dr. Kayode Fayemi did not do that must be confusing to those of us who know what government official consider a self-serving culture in the high echelon of public service- build a palace in people’s or government’s name, and subtly convert it to yours at a price of an “akara-Osu”. Sweet!

Moreover, I also expect His most Eminence and Excellency, chief Ayo Fayose, to inform me and the rest of the world that, what Dr. Kayode Fayemi did, building a state-mansion for the honour and use of first-denizens of Ekiti State, was a total waste of money, because there was no need for it, on account of the fact that a governor lodge, which is indeed befitting a gubernatorial persona, was already in existence before he, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, went on a reckless, wilful spendthrift to erect the “opulent mansion”.

My Excellency, chief Fayose, is acting true to type- a successor must, as a political rite of passage, destroy any semblance of credibility and/or political capital his/her predecessor still has in his/her pocket as he/she leaves the public service stage. If a successor fails to do this, he/she has failed in his/her official duty. And that may come to hunt him/her. Hence, when his Excellency, chief Fayose, will start an anti-people and self-serving policies of his own, he will have a ready dog to hang before the people- blame it on Fayemi, because he spent your money on building a mansion.

The path of honour that his Excellency, chief Fayose, must tread now is not to occupy that mansion. He should not go a mile near it talk-less of occupying it as his official residence- what you do not intend to eat you do not smell. Indeed he should go and find a two or three bedroom suite for himself and family, because living in such an “opulence” savagely violates his sense of decency, spartan, austerity and service without comfort principle. Moreover, it will appear hypocritical and dis-honourable of him to now shamelessly embrace living in a mansion he has vociferously and publicly condemned that it should not have been built.

If he can do this he has fully cleansed himself of the coming assault of allegations or abuses of hypocrisy, free-hand-man and political stabber. The question is: will he do that?

    Nigerians save Nigeria!

    • Okey

      bunkum, rubbish of an idler.

    • Lorddaniels

You are just a bloody sycophant with a warped mindset with criminal intent. Even if your Lord and personal saviour Fayemi had sold the house to him self. Scalliwag like you would still defend him.

What Fayose is saying is that progressives should not be sleeping on beds with duvets and sheets. Not only that. Colored in Gold. Fayemi has gone against the progressives creed. I hope Aregebesola is sleeping on a mat!

  • GbemigaO

The definition of mismanage is to manage incompetently or dishonestly. I.e to mismanage funds. That is a what Fayemi should be charged for. Please note that mismanaging money/commonwealth put in your care is bad and should not be acceptable . In the UK , politicians or royalty spending even £5000 unnecessarily are hammered. You can’t decide to spend 3.3bn on accommodation for a family of probably less than 10 when the commonwealth is not infinite. I guess what Ekiti people will be wondering is how many infrastructure can be provided with such sum, how many workers’ salaries could have been paid , or how many pension arrears could have been cleared with such a sum. Yes. Our leaders should live comfortably but not in opulence in the midst of poverty. That is where I think Fayemi got it wrong. Mind you , the lodge will definitely not be up to that amount. So many millionaires would have been created through massive skimming in the contract!

  • King Carlos

Although the amount might be much for a state like Ekiti… until I see all government houses , including Jonathan’s, I will not blame FayemI. All Governors have to show us the interiors of their abode.

  • Okey

After they ferried him into Ekiti State on chartered private jet, when Ekiti civil servants were still owed their wages since July, Wole Soyinka said he saw mystery in Fayemi’s resounding defeat. Well, except to Wole Soyinka, there is absolutely not iota of mystery in Fayemi’s loss or in the reason why he should lose. For the evidence is evidentially obvious.

“Bola Tinubu has become the most hated politician in the South-West.
Association with him is increasingly as politically contagious as leprosy.
Ekiti was presumed to be one of Tinubu’s South-West strongholds.
Kayode Fayemi lost in every local government area of the state.”
“Coming on the heels of its defeat in Ondo, the APC rout in Ekiti is
conclusive proof that Tinubu’s fabled stranglehold on South-West
politics has ended. Lagosians are disgusted that Tinubu has privatized
their politics. His wife, daughter and even son-in-law have been steam-rolled
    into vantage political positions.”

“The state’s finances are tied to Alpha Beta (Ltd.) With the contempt for the people that
has come with years of monarchical control over the ACN, Bola Tinubu presumes
South-West people will follow him sheepishly into this alliance with the North,
just because his burning ambition to become the vice-president of Nigeria now
demands it. But what this has achieved is to show that Bola Tinubu’s ambitions
    are anathema to South-West interests.”

There’s nothing opulence about the house and the furnishing other than the fact that the rogue called Fayemi inflated the cost of building and furniture content to the tune of N3b whereas the actual cost of building was N300m. Fayemi should be hanged

Thanks to @Sola in Punch newspaper for the piece below –

STOP THE THEARTRICS AND FACE GOVERNANCE , APC TELLS FAYOSE

Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised Governor Ayo
Fayose to stop playing to gallery and start governing the people of the
    state.

In a release signed by the Publicity Secretary of the
party, Hon Taiwo Olatubosun, said It was high time the governor stopped
pulling his usual stunts and start telling the people what beneficial
programmes he has for them. The business of governance is a serious one
and not of theatrics, which Fayose wants to reduce it to.

    “We are
not surprised about the recent circus show of our Governor, who has
been busy reeling out imaginary and mind boggling figures to discredit
his predecessor, Dr.Kayode Fayemi. It is in his character to do so, we
would, as a matter of fact, have ignored him, but we felt the need to
set the records straight for the unsuspecting public who may be misled
by this overblown cost of the new Governor’s lodge and the fittings
    therein.

Dr. Fayemi as a firm believer in transparency and
accountability had never hidden any of the projects executed with bond
money from Ekiti people and this included the new Governor’s lodge.
Nothing could be farther from the truth that N50 million was spent on
procuring a bed. Nowhere in the world is any bed sold for N50m and none
of the ones in the governor’s lodge is up to N2m. We challenge Fayose or
anyone with contrary facts to prove it.

Be that as it may, the
new governor’s lodge has befitting furniture and fittings commensurable
with the edifice which is one of the legacy projects of the Fayemi
administration. We are expecting Fayose to also showcase other legacy
projects like Ikogosi Warm Spring, The Pavillion, Oba Adejugbe Hosptial,
among others. We hope, however, that the facilities in them would still
remain intact by the time Gov. Fayose would be leaving.

    The
fittings of the lodge was done after Fayemi lost election and he didn’t
leave with any of them, which means they are for the use of Governors
that will come after him because it is the property of Ekiti State. It
makes more economic sense to put fittings which are durable and good. If
the governor’s hypocrisy would not allow him to use the lodge in order
to portray Fayemi as extravagant, that is his own cup of tea.

Kayode Fayemi left all the fittings and furniture intact unlike Ayo
Fayose who went to Ikogosi after he became Governor in 2003 and carted
away the furniture and fittings (including window blinds) of the resort,
converting them to his personal use. We are suspecting that he may once
again cart away the quality and lovely fittings as usual.

Despite building the new Governor’s lodge, Fayemi in 3 years, has
increased workers salary 3 times from 7,500 to N19,300, teachers in
Ekiti are the best paid in the country, he renovated all 183 schools,
all General Hospitals in the state. Fayemi completed 2,192 projects
while 468 are ongoing. The Youth in Commercial Agriculture has generated
15,000 employments while 20,000 elders were paid 5,000 every month in
the last four years. He has constructed, rehabilitated and reconstructed
a total of 1,038km of Federal, State and local Government roads. It
should also be noted that Fayemi did not owe any worker salary areas in
four years until Fayose recently harassed the banks to stop transaction
with the then outgoing Fayemi’s government.

The new-improved governor is claiming to hate excreta, yet he feeds on maggots

Fayose might have been angered by the fact that Fayemi spent Ekiti
money on projects that are beneficial to the people and there for all to
see, rather than leaving behind large sum to be stolen. Fayose’s
hypocrisy is deceiving Ekiti people with a 1965 Mercedes Benz as
official car, whereas he, as governor-elect, has purchased a N43million
naira customised Range Rover and passed the bill to the government to
pay. Ironically, he was the first to go to press to say Fayemi incurred
    debt.

    Signed:

    Hon Taiwo Olatubosun
    Publicity Secretary,
    Ekiti APC

  • Truth Hurts!

Everyone on this platform have not asked the main question here:
“Would Ayodele Fayose eventually sleep and operate from this HOUSE?”
If Yes, then He should just SHUT UP!
If No, then it means HE wants to build another one. And we know that the next Governor will also show us the interior of His living and bed rooms!
Governance in Circles, if you ask me.

    • sharp shape

In your warped mind you don’t see anything wrong with fayemi living in this kind of opulence when teachers and civil servants are owned the little stipends they need to take care of their families ? Your wickedness and stupidity is unbelievable !

  • Phemmy

I can’t see the opulence being talked about. It’s not even half as beautiful as Aso Rock Abuja. In one month Fasoye will start awarding his own contracts. For all this noisome pestilence that Fayose is, he should not sleep in the house till he’s voted out. Nonsense. And for now living in a glass house don’t throw stones
