Don’t contest 2015 election, prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi, tells Buhari

A Kaduna-based renowned Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmed Gumi, has called on a former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, not to contest the 2015 presidential election.

The cleric rather suggested that Mr. Buhari should back a younger person to run for the position.

In an open letter to the former head of state, posted on his Facebook page, Mr. Gumi argued that age is not on the side of the retired general and that politicians were only using him to get to power because of his popularity among the masses.

He also said a Buhari presidency would further polarise the country and worsen the security challenges the country is grappling with.

“My brother in Islam, please listen to the words of wisdom,” Mr. Gumi said. “And don’t follow the whims of the riffraff Before they used you the first time to disrupt the second republic, my father advised you against it. Today I am also advising you against contesting in the 2015 presidential election because you will be used to ignite the nation -a dream well orchestered several years ago- and also be used by bad people as a ladder to grab regional and local powers.”

When contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Gumi confirmed writing the letter. He said it was his own contribution to peace building in the country.

“I have to write him (Mr. Buhari) that letter because we don’t want crisis in Nigeria,” he said.

Mr. Buhari last week formally declared his intention to seek the APC presidential ticket at a well-attended rally in Abuja. The following day, he obtained the party’s nomination forms.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is also seeking the same ticket just as Kano state Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Below is Mr. Gumi’s full message to Mr. Buhari.

Assalamu Alaikum
The Humble People’s General.

I know I have access to you privately but this is meant for others to learn also.

The Prophet -peace be upon him- told one of the most honest and truthful of his companions, Abu Zar Algafary: “Oh Abu Zar, I truly love for you what I love for myself. I indeed see that you are weak so never accept to lead even two people and never accept safekeeping of the orphans wealth.”

An honest and candid advice from the prophet that is still valid today for any leader whose weakness borders on leadership qualities.

The reason for Abu Zar’s weakness has nothing to do with his credibility or truthfulness. Never! The prophet was narrated as saying: “there is nobody under the shadows of trees or bare sun that is more honest in speech than Abu Zar”.
Abu Zar – May Allah be pleased with him- is ascetic and inmaterialistic. Abu Zar is incorruptible. And yet he is not suitable for leadership.

I am not claiming to be even by an atom’s weight anything close to our noble prophet, yet I am encouraged to give you these same advice by the virtue that you are not also close to Abu Zar in piety. We are living in a time of great tribulations and fitnah especially for this Ummah because of our collective iniquities, ignorance of religious instructions and the love of Dunyah.

Sir, your weakness is not in your past impeccable record of accountability of public wealth and the fight against corruption and indiscipline. Your weakness is in your inability to control men compounded further by your strict and obsessive rejection of corruption.

Don’t be surprised. You may need to understand that Islam being a pragmatic religion allows the use of Zakkat and public wealth as an instrument to pacify and lure influential people for the sake of righteousness, peace and stability. In modern governance today it translate to security vote.

Thus men are also controlled by money. So if your policy of governance is obsessibly centered on sealing tight the use of money, you will have great problem with men. An Arab poet said: “A fool cannot be the leader of his people but the true leader of the people must feign foolishness”.

It’s convenient for your ardent supporters to quote copiously from the annals of history your great achievements but when your failures and weaknesses were pointed out they say that was in the past. Is the lessons of past history only good for the positive achievements? Doesn’t that also explains our incessant failures?

Your Excellency, good intentions are never enough. In the past, because of your clean records and straightforwardness you were lured by men who want only the vanities Dunya to uproot a young democracy on the caprices of fighting corruption. Corruption is no doubt an evil but there is a more monstrous evil than corruption. That is turmoil and insecurity. Peace and stability are the most important part of governance that no price is to high for them.

The lack of peace, stability and security is the major predicament of this nation since independence. So when you were naively used by men to derail one, that is the greatest disservice you committed to the nation the ills of which we are yet to recover from.

Do you truly believe Allah is still not in cognizance of that? You were led to uproot a duly elected leader and incarcerate him for close to two years knowing fully well that he has no charge of even the corruption that was labeled against him. Yes, Shagari was the leader and therefore he bears all the responsibility of misdeeds in his government, so also you were a leader and you should bear all the responsibility of derailing the peace and stability of governance in this country as a consequence of that putsch.

Your weakness in control of men became evident when the very people that used you to revolt against a constituted authority came back to uproot you from the seat of power. Your own kinsmen. Without a gun cocked in your defence.

Today the corruption you were deceived to fight against has reached unimaginable level coupled with the worst state of insecurity and peace in the nation. There was just recently an attempt on your life like many of us.

All this because you the honest people that are given the privilege of strengthening the Armed forces left it to meddle in politics. We thus lost everything. Neither the power nor the security.

A believer is not stung from the same hole twice. Men used your innocence before to get power and dump you. Please be sensible today. Some other men still want to use you to get power and surely they will dump you again. You don’t share the same philosophy at all. Even though as I explained later, your obsession and philosophy of fighting corruption is not the priority of Nigeria today. What Nigeria needs utmost now is peace and stability? This can only be achieved when the religious ethnic and regional divide is tamed. And you can only tame it with people without much precedence. People without much following. Yet people that are constructive and have the ability to control men.

If Sardauna today is alive in your situation he will never contest for the presidential seat because of his deep understanding of what the nation needs. He will step down for a more acceptable younger person. It’s on record that Sardauna even at the age of under 60 said he was not going to contest again, preparing his only house in Rabah for retirement.

I’ll give you a similitude to buttress my point of priority. A person seriously injured and fractured from a road traffic accident when brought to the emergency room, the first priority of the doctors is to secure an intravenous line. Meaning get a drip set working into his veins to protect his vital organs like the heart and kidneys from the effects of shock and loss of blood. The fractures, even though serious and the source of the blood loss, may take days and weeks before they are even attended to beside the superficial dressings.

Nigeria now needs peace and stability first. Then we talk of good governance later even though it’s the source of the predicament we are facing.

The present government has already charged the situation and played the religious divide to its advantage. It’s in circulation now, a SW pastor calling on Christians and the church to vote Jonathan as their only Saviour. This religious card will be used to cover his deficiency in governance.

Your Excellency, you should understand too, that many, if not most of your supporters, are also looking up to you to protect them from the onslaught on their religion and region. This also the Christian will never believe the otherwise.

Therefore the stage is set for religious confrontation which is the least the nation needs.

What we need as a priority is peace and stability.

From my view, if APC can support as an example Ameachi or Okorocha/Kwankwaso or El-Rufai or Tambuwwal ticket and the PDP will have Akpabio/Muazu or Ribadu or Shekaru, the next four years will. – insha Allah – witness stability both in the north and south. And the electoral body will get the necessary infrastructure that subsequently the next election will be free and fair and the true reflection of Nigerians.

If you may ask, why can’t this same peace be achieved with you and another Christian running mate?

Gen. you have antagonist, and they are many and also as ardent as your supporters. Your supporters have the biggest proportion of the underprivileged of the society which is the petrol that can be easily ignited by the slightest spark. The spark will be when you’re declared the loser. And you know you can very well lose if the Christians follow their church -and why not in this era of mediocrity.

On the other hand if Jonathan comes back. BH will be real not the political one we see. The turmoil will engulf the whole country not only the north. That is why I also call on PDP to present some other candidates.

My brother in Islam, please listen to the words of wisdom. And don’t follow the whims of the riffraff. Before they used you the first time to disrupt the second republic, my father advised you against it. Today I am also advising you against contesting in the 2015 presidential election because you will be used to ignite the nation -a dream well orchestered several years ago- and also be used by bad people as a ladder to grab regional and local powers.

I rest my case here.

My best regards and condolence for your recent loss.
May Allah guide you and protect you from the evil men and the jinn. Amin.

  • dudu

Why do I feel this man is envious of Buhari’s acceptability and influence among the people of the north?

  • john omonaija

you are entitle to your own opinion, wether you like it or not is BUHARI we want in presidency come 2015.

    • sir Oscie

      God forbid

      • Troublesome

Forbid what? U are a joker!

        • sir Oscie

YOU ARE A PAWN TO BE SACRIFICED WHENEVER YOUR MASTER FEELS LIKE.

          • Troublesome

The one your master GEJ has sacrificed already ba?

  • Wisdom

Why is everyone jittery over Buhari? even the president in his mightiness call all his governor for a meeting all because of Buhari why?

    • obeten

The fear is not him defeating his opponent but the repercussion of his failure is what should bother everybody, like the man rightly said it will be another loss of lives for 2015 because of Buhari failure at the post

      • Otile

Tell Wisdom succinctly that Buhari, like Gowon cannot win general election. It is one thing for a cabal to present him as consensus candidate for their own selfish interest, but another for him to win outside the NW.

        • endingNaija

Otile , why are you scared? If Buhari cannot win, you should be happy that he is being pushed forward to tackle your candidate-Goodluck Jonathan-right?

      • the truth

remember when he said the dog and baboon would soak in blood come 2015?

    • Tunsj

Because the President and all his governors are SCARED.

    • endingNaija

I wonder oooo! Even President Jonathan with all his stolen oil money reserved to be dsiributed as stomach infrastructure is scared stiff!!! My God cold don catch thieves for Aso Rock because of Buhari!!!

  • Chris1408

Buhari should listen to his brother, Nigeria needs a young and vibrant person to hit the ground running. Not a tired 100 years old former military dictator.

    • Tunsj

Chris1408, you know that most of the time I agree with you but this time I do not. Age does not determine good leadership.

      • Chris1408

True, but the man has ruled. We know him and he’s definitely not the leader Nigeria needs today. Are we saying Buhari is the best Nigerian to lead us today? How many of the world leaders that ran their country in 1983 are still trying to lead their country today?

        • Tunsj

Your suggestions please. You know that all these old politicians will not allow younger ones to take over. We need someone now to clean the mess created by GEJ. It will be great,if Buhari selects a young person as a running mate from southeast.

          • Chris1408

That’s why we need an independent party where the best candidate can run for an election without the influence of the old folks. Buhari can’t influence the cost of presidential form in his party, how can he run a more complex Nigeria. Please forget this man. 4 years ago people were shouting for GEJ, he’s now the worst president the world has ever witnessed. People were telling anti GEJ to hug transformer in 2011. Look at what GEJ has turned Nigeria to. Colossal failure.

          • Tunsj

Colossal failure indeed and this is exactly what OBJ said about GEJ and I bet there is no love lost between GEJ and OBJ. An independent party will be hijacked by the corrupt politicians. The same thing is happening here in the US and the rich guys are spending millions to buy elections. Democracy in the US is gone.

          • Chris1408

True, Fela definition of democracy is absolutely right. Nigeria democracy is the worst in the whole world. Politicians are supposed to be public servants, in Nigeria they gods. Dishonorable men and women

  • Wähala

    Hmmm…
Presidency is not about going to the farm with cutlass and hoe every morning…
It is assembling a fromidable cabinet and setting clear-cut policy goals, then supervising you crew of technocrats and minsters to make sure all cylinders are well oiled and burning properly. Sha, me hopes for a younger candidate with verifiable track record of achievements in prior positions… enough of mediocre!

    • Chima

      Verified by who?

      • Wähala

By you and I, their future employers. Don’t you care about a politician’s capacity to deliver on the job… that’s how we ended up with ‘Incompetence Incorporated’ in the person of Dr. Jona Dumbo. Gejitoe, there’s life after crumbs, think about the future of your children & others.

    • Chris1408

True, but it takes great deal of energy and time to run a country. In addition to great health, strength, foresight, prudence, patience, impartiality, competence, leadership qualities, managerial skills and endless lists of other qualities which are clearly lacking in current Nigerian politicians. We know Buhari and GEJ lacks all.

  • Darlington Mudiaga Atumu

This man knows more than he is saying about boko haram…he claims that the real boko haram will start in 2015 if GEJ wins….na.wa oooo

  • Otile

I now believe that Sheik Gumi is a true peace-loving scholar who means well for Nigeria. But as usual corrupt politicians and Yorubas will pour scorns and all manners of insult on him. Come next year Nigerain people will decide for themselves whether they were better off under the Hausa Fulani dictatorship or not. Sheik Ahmed Gumi Allah ya gafata Mallam.

    • endingNaija

Because you know that given Buhari’s ethical profile he will beat President Goodluck Jonathan-right? So you want APC to present a weaker candidate-right? You must be kidding otile na mani_kay na mpitikwelu na Reno Wendel Omokri na the truth na redeem. And people will decide whether they are better off under a corrupt klpetocratic regime like that of President Goodluck Jonathan who laundered $9.3m through two unnamed Nigerians whose identity remains a mystery.

      • Otile

I have no time for name calling and irrational thinking. The year 2015 is around the corner, people will decide for themselves. Thank God voters have become wiser.

        • endingNaija

Oh my God! otlle na mpitikwelu na redeem na the truth na Reno Wendel Omokri na asari dokubo na mani_kay why do you CONTRADICT yourself in just two posts. Your post welcomed Gumi’s comments-you did not say “hey Gumi let the two contest, wait till 2015. ” We counter you, you fell back and start talking about 2015! Your last post is better. Let all of us go to town and campaign for our candidate. Yours is Goodluck Jonathan the money laundering president ($9.3m) mine is Buhari-period. We will see in 2015 the truth na otile na Reno Omokri na mani_kay na mpitikwelu na redeem na Gideon orkar!

      • The following is from my article “Islam’s Jesus”:

Hadith reports how Khadija and Muhammad tested to ascertain whether the
spirit (angel Jibril) which Muhammad was engaging with is of Shaitan or God.
They conducted the test because that spirit sometimes suffocated and terrorized Muhammad.
Khadija and Muhammad tested the angel by acting sensually in the presence of that spirit
when it came again to Muhammad. They both concluded that the angel is a good spirit because

Thanks for this piece of good information.

  • Ette

In normal situation GMB cannot win any credible election in Nigeria neither can the very wicked and corrupt GEJ. The advice from this man is therefore very apt and peace ensuring. God Almighty will push them out for the peace of our nation. What we need are selfless, competent, agile, result oriented leaders like Oshiomole, Tambuwal, Duke, Utomi, Fashola, Ameachi etc. May God give us a leader that will take us out of the grave darkness of corruption, bloodshed, cultism, religious and ethnic conflicts which wicked PDP has brought upon our dear nation.

    • Chris1408

      Amen oooooo

  • JAMOH

If only Buhari has regards for the lives of the innocent ones who die after he has lost an election he wont even wait for someone to advice him not to contest before he decides not to. When he said in 2011 after the deaths caused by his lost of the Presidential elections that he will not contest again, I thought he was remorseful for the deaths but I was wrong. Come 2015 should he contest he will still loose again and people are going to kill and be killed. This is certainly not love for Nigeria but greed and desperation for power.

  • Scalywag

Gumi’s letter does not make any sense. I am sure it was written for his signature by one of those contesting for the APC ticket with GMB. Is Gumi saying it was wrong of GMB to fight corruption? Regarding the events of december 1983, has he forgotten the turmoil created by Shagari’s ‘moonslide victory’, especially in the South-west and how anarchy was creeping back into the polity? Does he remember the economic crises precipitated by NPN from 1979 to 1983 much like what PDP has done since 1999? The conditions that necessitated the emergence of GMB in 1984 are even more accentuated in 2015. What Nigeria needs now is a strong willed fighter of corruption. Infact it is corruption more than anything that has bred the insurgency ravaging the North east. And as it stands today, only GMB has the observable pedigree to tackle both the corruption and insurgency, irrespective of Gumi’s elaborate qouatations from the Koran

    • Enemona

Just like many pastors, many imams misinterpret the holy books for their selfish ends. Zakat is an obligation of the rich to the poor in their environments. I have never read anywhere (speaking as someone who has independently studied both holy books) that public funds should be used to pacify the corrupt rich people who oppress the poor for the sake of peace. I think this is different from what I understand.

  • sir Oscie

Buhari is not just good enough for Nigeria. Thank God someone else shares my sentiment.

    • Tunsj

sir Oscie, I hate to give you the bad news, but your sentiment is WRONG. Can you please tell me who is good enough for Nigeria?.

      • sir Oscie

Tunsj, I wasn’t talking to you the Islamic cleric sheikh Gumi was the person I was referring to .

        • Tunsj

          Sorry. my bad.

Clear evidence of intrusion of islamic absolutism in politics. All this man sees is the painful sack of Shagari on the grounds that he led a corrupt administration; the fact that Shagari received the courtesy of retiring to the comfort of his villa is not given any mention. That in his senseless paranoid, Buhari dumped the Shagari’s V.P. in jail simply because he was an Nyamiri, banza Kafirin banza that must be stopped from getting at the presidency after Shagari. Islamic awusa hegemony must remain inviolate.
We now know that islam, as a religion, promotes corruption and thievery, explaining why Abacha, a world.”…….Islam being a pragmatic religion allows
the use of Zakkat and public wealth as an instrument to pacify and lure
influential people for the sake of righteousness, peace and stability.
In modern governance today it translate to security vote..-renowned kleptomaniac raised thievery to a scale that shocked the entire world”.
It is shameful that we allow for a decadence that sees nothing wrong with that abuse of public funds, but encourages kleptocratic plundering and banditry perpetrated by a clan for whom indolence is cherished as societal norm. Gummi has finally admitted that Boko Haram is, after all, an islamic awusa response to aimed to undermine the Jonathan administration and impose an awusa islamist for “peace to reign”.
However, it would be interesting for Buhari to aspire to presidency one more time, since the awusas regard themselves allah-anointed for the birthright of Nigerian leadership. The crash will be more thunderous, as what ‘happened in 2011 happens yet again’. And you can bet on that. Chief mullah Gummi confirms speculations making the rounds that Nigeria will cease to exist in 2015. Jonathan or not, power shift to the North or not…same result: firestorm and mayhem, bloodied baboons and dogs. And here we are, dogs and baboons, waiting to be bloodied in 20015 by his excellency and his army of almajiris and islamic terrorists.

    • Enemona

Take it easy bro, you’re taking this man too seriously. Why so serious? He only aired his opinion. Moreover, he has not threatened anybody neither has he incited anyone.

He is just showing his apprehensions, he’s human. You’ve succeeded in taking his apprehension to a new hysterical level. You’re worse than him, his speculations are bogus and holds no water but yours are downright ridiculous and unimaginable. Cool ya temper, if Buhari runs and win, it’s same thing, the country will see a change and we will move on, if he loses, we will see more of the same in this country and we will move on too. But where we move on to in both cases is not dependent on the figment of your imagination but on over 160m people (of which when put together, you are only an insignificant portion). Cool down, okay…. Your fear of Buhari should not drive you mad!

      • Garden-City Boy

First of all, the word is spelt “anemone”. Are you a sea anemone by any chance? An awusa jackass from the arid Sahara is unfamiliar with the sea. Now listen, if you wild barbaric animals think you can have your way again this time, you got surprises coming. You may have to learn from the lessons of the Central African Republic.

        • Enemona

Spewing your infantile gibberish as usual. This my last response to an imbecile with a keyboard.

          • Garden-City Boy

…….’infantile gibberish’ indeed. I know how the truth hurts the awusa man. All awusa people must be cursing the day the internet was invented. Since it is no longer the same as in the days when the evil awusa man hides under cover to misbehave, everybody now knows that awusa people are the crippling poison that was injected into the land. The antidote is simple: tell you your sins to your face, send you grappling with excuses to an justify the evil you brought to the land, and then put you in your place. One of such excuses is the indulgence in sex orgies to determine the intentions of a tormenting spirit.
Now, in your view, Buhari is that wonderful, islamic awusa messiah sent down to earth by allah himself and his friend, mohamed (hence his adopted name, muhamadu). Would you awusas not be advantaged if you kept your Buhari with you, save his exceptional patriotic zealotry for your ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF AREWA (also Known as AREWAGHANISTAN)? Why must you want to share this great Buhari asset with us? Do we look to you like people waiting all our lives for a Buhari to come to our rescue……Buhari of all fellows? Yet, before you know it Sam Ndah-Isaiah, another court jester pops up, claiming to exclusive wisdom on how to rule us. What’s your real problem, mullah? Shouldn’t there be, at least, one thinking awusa man to tell us what it is?

        • Enemona

Your ignorance is amazing. You’re so draft, uncultured and ignorant that I do not expect you to have heard that name nor know what it means. People like you should never be given access to a keyboard but rather learn after you’ve be graciously allowed access to the net you chose to display your crass ignorance.

          Please stick to oil bunkering.

  • the truth

This is a great scholastic write up by this sheik. In as much as everybody is welcome to join the race, common sense must prevail. This man’s school of thought is not far fetched but it has proponents and opponents, each having their thoughts on buhari. may the best man win come 2015

    • endingNaija

the truth, you are a PDP propgandist. Everyone has a right of opinion-like you have just expressed. But when people argued in the past for certain reasons that President Jonathan should not contest, what did you guys say? You said he has a right? Hm? Okay, now supposed I say given that Goodluck Jonathan is the most corrupt(true) and the mist divisive(true) president ever in Nigeria and therefore he should not contest? what will you say? Now I think Goodluck Jonathan should contest. And Buhari should contest. I know Buhari will win. But I guess you PDP people are scared stiff of Buhari because he will beat your candidate FLAT in a free and fair election in 2015. So? You want APC to bring a weak candidate and as usual as PDP plague you SUGAR COAT your post with “neutrality”. Like I said I know you. Buhari will contest and bat your candidate-Jonathan. We are ready and better prepared this time.

      • the truth

Nobody is fighting you, we may differ in ideologies. Everybody has the right to air their view and you have no right to continue attacking anybody with a different view than yours. That is the height of intolerance and undemocratic. Why must you shut down any view that doesn’t mirror yours. My brother it is a free world. As i said my body language on this forum should spell neutrality to you. My post does not support any view. Please read well with your glasses on and show propaganda. • Weydem

    Sheik Ahmed Gumi,

ISLAMISM IS THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA

To tell the truth, The struggle for an Islamic State of Nigeria by Nigerian Muslims is the main cause of Nigeria’s crisis today. Solve that and you’ll solve everything. Until this treasonous Islamism is defeated – by force, if necessary – Nigeria will not know peace. It is clear by now that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Boko Haram are joined in the hip in pursuit of this same toxic idea of Islamic State. That explains why APC has never chosen a Yoruba Christian as APC governorship candidate in any of the six [6] states of Nigeria’s South-West.

Yoruba Christians now perceive that the Muslims in northern Nigeria are in a deadly alliance with the Mujahedeens of Yorubaland. Under the direction of Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Yoruba Muslims have ridden roughshod over the Christian community to the insolent point that Alhaji Lai Mohammed felt able to say APC chooses Muslims because Christian aspirants have no merits. That is an insulting way of declaring Islam as “the merits” for public office in Yorubaland.

To roll back Lai Mohammed’s nonsense nonsense; and counter this insidious religious apartheid, Yoruba Christians declare at a plenary conference that they have no stake in APC because Christians can indeed have no stake in APC anymore than Biblical Prophet Elijah could have had a stake in aiding an Islamic state in old Israel.

As a divisive Islamic party in a multi-religious Yoruba society, APC is the worst political mistake the Yoruba ever made. These clear facts have nothing to do with Mr. Goodluck Jonathan – who was a deputy governor in Bayelsa state in 2002 when ACN was formed, or, anything to do with PDP – which had no hands in how ACN/APC formalized its Islamist supremacist ideology in the year 2012.

      @ Weydem:

Any little child in any other part of Nigeria knows there’s an ongoing Islamic Jihad in Nigeria.

The only group of people who do NOT know this simple fact are Yoruba Christians

      – having the highest number of professors, doctorates and university graduates – who

“Don’t be surprised. You may need to understand that Islam being a pragmatic religion allows the use of Zakkat and public wealth as an instrument to pacify and lure influential people for the sake of righteousness, peace and stability. In modern governance today it translate to security vote.”

Translation in plain English: Corruption is allowed, the rich and powerful should be pacified with public funds. The imams support corruption, pastors support corruption yet we ask ourselves why we are in this mess.

This says it all for me, actually!

It is for this reason that Buhari should run, the fear of Buhari is palpable. As for Gummi; the voice of Jacob is heard, but the hand of Esau is clearly seen.

  • Wale

There are two sides in any election; for or against, people are not really for Buhari as per Se, seems like majority of voters are gonna be voting against Jonathan. analyzing what’s on ground, anybody’s grand mama would probably defeat this dude called GEJ.
The present government is just full of lies, like everything else, they are not even good at that. The other day, they made announcement about cease fire with some naughty group, that was a lie too, These guys needs to be taking care of stuffed animals at the fake Zoo, too incompetent for real ones, they’ll be eaten alive.

    • Cypo

Tot you read what Gumi said to Buhari. “If Christians follow their Church then for sure you will lose the election” and certainly APC.

  • Femi

Well orchestrated piece. Disjointed. Even if Christians follow their church, which is a 50/50 thing, because I’m a Christian, Buhari will still win. Buhari, the Abraham Lincoln of our time, ride on. It’s your time.

God divine hand is upon General Buhari. God want to use him to bring stability , growth, purification and abundant life to Nigeria. If he allow people to mislead him. He will pay for it severely. He is the next president of Nigeria. The first six month will be hot but after that things will start to take shape. His tenure will witness better governance than that of Gen Obasnjo. Please pray that every (if ) in the way of GENERAL Buhari be demolished Ijn. Age was mention that has noting to do with good governance, the youth are yet to be mature enough to take the lead. Pastor Abio dun Ajayi, am sure you were Abio dun Ajayi before you became a pastor so I will address you straight plus respect for your title. Am sure we serve the same God and he sure will reveal to others as u claim he has revealed to you. When God shows us visions, there’s a reason for it and it’s not for you to scream it loud. Same thing some pastors have done in d past claiming one person was revealed and then nothing happens. Am shocked you don’t see a Nigeria with a younger and more reliable individual than someone who has tried over n over again to join the corrupt government as if it’s us father house. And that goes to the likes of Atiku, Jonathan and Buhari.
I basically don’t care who gets there, christian or Muslim as long as you do right. The Imam already said BH will be worse I don’t see why it has not been revealed to you on a possible to solution to that menace. Pls don’t say Buhari is d solution because with his present position as a favored northerner he should have tried to end it but nothing.

There is some sense in what Sheik (Dr) Gumi said. The salient point in his writeup is that, should Buhari lose the elections, hell would be let loose again. And should Jonathan lose or win, hell would be let loose also. That is serious food-for-thought for Nigerians. Should Nigerians allow Buhari and Jonathan to run? It is up to Nigerians. But given the resolute stance of both gentlemen, it appears they would be prepared to take a plunge, take a risk and hope that God would save Nigeria! And, since Nigerians cannot stop them, the situation becomes a fish bone that cannot be swallowed or expectorated. But, be that as it may, only Nigerians have the characteristic of stopping them since the ordinary citizenry would be the group to be crushed by the roof of this nation should it come crashing down in the midst of any political and social tornado.

      HOW ISLAMISM DESTROYS YORUBALAND

Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Raji Fashola are the two Muslim Mujahedeens who destroyed Yoruba unity.
People sometimes don’t understand the long-term permanent damage Alhaji Tinubu and Alhaji Fashola

have done to Yoruba history. They will be cited in Yoruba history forever as a much worse characters than Afonja,

who ‘sold off’ Ilorin to the Hausa Fulani.

Fashola and Tinubu have ended up destroying the entente culture of Yoruba’s multi-religious society.

Everybody knows that Christians are peaceable who endure in forbearance,

until pushed to the wall to react. Alll churches called a meeting last year in Lagos

and declared in a communique that Christians will not accept a Muslim governor

in Lagos state next year. Bola Tinubu’s decline and fall started because it is the

first time in Yoruba history that the huge Christian community took such a stance

      against a perceived common enemy.

They both concluded that the angel is a good spirit because
an evil angel would have stayed to enjoy the sensual act of the couple who were simply testing,
to ascertain whether it was a demon or not. However, That’s Not How To Verify

That mohamed must be a terrible sex machine. It shows why the conduct of his followers is all centered around rape, incest, virgin reward for their wretched martyrs, sex with under-aged……its is sex…sex….sex and nothing but sex. Mohamed used sex as an experimental test for the good or bad spirit? I guess mullahs asked for al these expositions. Had they but behaved like humans rather than like barbaric animals the wild, these sordid parts of their koran and faith would remain in the dark. There is everything demonic about these people and their faith, nothing godly. We wish all them mullahs nice stay in devil’s hell.

        • You said: “Mohamed used sex as an experimental test for the good or bad spirit?”

I wouldn’t say it like that, but clearly Khadija and Muhammad acted sensually
to see whether the spirit that was tormenting Muhammad would stay to enjoy
the sensual act or disappear. IT’S SAD THAT THEY DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO
DETECT Supernatural Beings as to whether it was of Shaitan or God.
The tormenting spirit disappeared and thus DECEIVED THEM into receiving it (Jibril)
and its message (the Qur’an) as Holy, when it was actually from Shaitan.

          • Garden-City Boy

What you are saying to me is that except for the use of lascivious behavior, mohamed could not think of any other way to identify his tormentor. So, that ” THEY DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO DETECT Supernatural Beings as to whether it was of Shaitan or God” it is all well and good. Would you then blame deviants who follow in his footsteps for acts of rape, incest, pedophilia, and expectations of virgin rewards in your islamic paradise?
You have only advanced the reason Chibok school children were abducted by your islamic elite who take turns in the orgy of rape now going on in those dens you keep them. Your are all still being tormented by mohamed’s devil and experimenting with the Chibok children to find out why. Someone needs to unravel the enigma that is the awusa man; the people have all kinds of weird excuses for behaving the way they do. Psychologists have a job hear…..research into the awusa man’s psyche for the gene composition that drives his evil conduct.

THE VITAL POINT SHEIK GUMI MISSED

What Nigerian needs at this time of great trial is not a change of leadership but 100% support and backing for President Goodluck Jonathan ……. who is already delivering excellent performance which the people Sheik Gumi called riffraff and bad people continue to deny.

There is no single reason for change of leadership in Aso Rock in 2015 especially as the present occupant continues to deliver excellent performance that had eluded Nigeria since independence in 1960.

The truth is that APC, Nasir El Rufai, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Bukola Saraki want to ride on the back of Buhari to Aso Rock.

The Nigeria constitution makes it very clear that Buhari has right to vote and be voted for in 2015 and Nigerians must rise to defend Buhari from people who are doing all they can to stop Buhari from contesting the 2015 Presidential election.

If there is crisis after the 2015 Presidential elections ….. a new Nigeria will definitely emerge from the crisis …… this new Nigeria that will emerge from the crisis will surely be different from the present status quo bequeathed to us by the British that has only served the parochial interests of the Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani.

Thus what could not be achieved by the “National Conference”: will be achieved by the “Crisis Conference” to the benefit of all the oppressed ethnic groups in Nigeria ……… I believe this view represents the patriotic stand of the oppressed people of Niger Delta.

The Corruption Coalition (CoCoa) is coming together to stop Buhari from contesting. This coalition is powerful and cuts across ethnic groups, religion, political parties and age. They wonder what will happen to them if a GMB takes power. Unfortunately for them, the people have had enough of leaders who behave like kings, living large while the people who elected them to office are dying in job queues and have to resort to sundry crimes to survive. Gumi thinks peace, security and political stability are what we need and not the fight against corruption and I say there can be no peace without justice. Corruption is the root of all evil. Fight and defeat it and infrastructure will improve, security will improve, jobs will be created and stability will begin to take root. Nigeria needs Buhari (or someone like him) more than Buhari needs Nigeria. Vote Buhari for 2015 and uproot the leeches that have bled the nation dry and are desirous of continuing to do so from 2015.

    • Goodluck_Nigeria

First Buhari cannot win in 2015 …… Buhari in all his three previews defeats has never won 25% of votes in any State in the South …… and nothing has changed to make Buhari win …… the Yorubas will never vote for Buhari ….. not when people like Prof Wole Soyinka are still alive and kicking.

But how do you naively think that Buhari will stop corruption in Nigeria …….. now get this:

All the people driving Buhari and all the people around Buhari are among the most corrupt in Nigeria : Bola Tinubu, El Rufai, Bukola Saraki, Raji Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi, Rochas Okorocha, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Tmipre Sylva, Adams Oshiomhole, Rauf Aregbesola …….. Buhari has no choice but do their bidding.

How would a Buhari who parades Bola Tinubu as his closest political associate stop corruption? Nigerians are very much aware that Bola Tinubu is the epitome or rather the highest standard of corruption anywhere in the world.

Secondly, Buhari was the pioneer Chairman of PTF …….. PTF ended up becoming the most corrupt agency ever in the history of Nigeria as evidenced by the colossal amounts missing ……… Obasanjo was forced to close down PTF forever while the Executive Secretary was forced by Buhari to commit suicide immediately Obasanjo announced that PTF will be investigated.

How is it then that you are telling us that Buhari will stop corruption in Nigeria when Buhari himself presided over massive and monumental corruption in PTF.

It is instructive for you to note that PTF is much more smaller than Nigeria ……. far much more smaller …… If Buhari could stop corruption in a small entity like PTF where he was pioneer Chairman ……. how do you think Buhari will be able to stop corruption in a much more bigger scale – Nigeria.

Thirdly, when Buhari was Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources the sum $2.8Billion Dollars disappeared from the Midland Bank Accounts of NNPC into Buhari’s private pocket ……. to date Buhari has refused to return teh money to Federal Government ….. he simply declared the money as missing …… is the Buhari you think will stop corruption?

Finally, Buhari allowed 53 suit cases loaded with Naira into the country during the currency exchange ….. is this the Buhari that you think has what it takes to stop corruption ?

I can go on and on ……. please stop the joke …….. Buhari is extremely corrupt.

Probably, the fact that Buhari chooses to keep his assets in cash is what is deceiving you.

    What actually is Islamism?

Islamism means the deliberate mis-use of Koranic verses to usurp
    the executive powers of a country to the exclusion of all non-Muslims;
through a combination of threat, stealth and terror – including bribes given to stupefy
Christian pastors and prelates into a false belief that the monopoly of state power
by Muslims is only accidental, so that in turn, the Christian Pastors could be coaxed
to mis-preach to their church congregation to forget about the Muslim monopoly
of the kingdom of this earth, and instead, look up to the skies with the future hope
of inheriting the kingdom of God.

  • Mr Igbo Sanity

Renowned Islamic cleric Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi took to his
facebook page to share his view about 2015 presidential election. In an article
he titles ‘The Second Round Godluck vs Buhari: A Source of Apprehension,” the
Sheik enumerated the determining factors that can make major contenders
Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari to either win or lose the election. I have not
    read a better written piece for a long while. Read below;

“Nigeria is in such a deplorably inflamed state of insecurity and mutual mistrust between different
segments of the society that doesn’t require another dirty second round of
GOODLUCK vs BUHARI. In fact that will cause another severe ‘political
anaphylaxis’ that can lead to shock and ultimate death of the nation we all
aspire to live in peace with.

Before you start gasping for air in shock or disappointment – the usual reaction from
fanatical followers of men and not reason- let me categorically say I am not a
fan of any politician nor am I partisan. I know politicians have double
personalities. The public image and the true one. My interest is that the nation
should heal and my Islam should have it’s proper place in the fabric of its
adherents not being framed, maligned or misrepresented.

Neither Goodluck nor Buhari solicited for my views or counsel before showing their ambition to
contest for the presidency this time. Each has his own political advisers and
praise singers from across the nation. This puts me at the same length from the
two, obliging me to do what I believe is right. I feel it is time we blow the
referee’s whistle to end the fight before it starts.

Let us be frank with ourselves, GOODLUCK VS BUHARI is going to be a war of two extreme poles. This
polarized situation is what should be avoided at all cost. Whether Goodluck
likes to hear it or not, he is seen by most Muslim masses in Nigeria as the
most pro-Christian president. The CAN and the wealthy jet trotting pastors the
nation is shocked with have never had it better. This has tainted PDP as a CAN
party. For that most Christians will still vote for Jonathan despite the
deplorable state of the nation and gross misgovernance from share recklessness
and incapacity. He is still better to them than Buhari.

On the other hand, Buhari’s popularity surged to messianic peak among the ordinary northern
Muslims not because of his incorruptible ascetic-like qualities but the day he
debunked the Atiku’s ‘back to status quo’ declaration during the heated Sharia
and Anti-Sharia debacle of Zamfara’s Sharia reintroduction. This same reason,
Christians are still not comfortable with him.

My fear here is that what Buhari did was the right thing and should never regret it even if it cost him
his presidency. That is his most pleasurable achievement to Allah for standing
against for his own faith being tarnished and politicized. The moment he stands
for the presidency he has two options, lose the Christian votes or dilute his
Islamic credentials by going extra miles to prove he is not an islamist which
they all know he is not.

Buhari’s candidature will unite the Christians against him and Goodluck’s candidature will unite the
Muslims against him. This is the time bomb that will only probably benefit Good
luck. He either continue to force his way or disintegrate the country. A
win-win situation for him and his Niger Delta kinsmen.

In his four years, from day one, Goodluck knew that for him to have any chance is to use the religious
and regional card. Framing northern politicians for the 2010 first Abuja MEND
bombings. The government sponsored SNC which later metamophised to National
Conference in a bid to change the constitution back door, allowing him for a
third term. The other option is to create an artificial war using the security
outfits he has commandeered with his kinsmen so that at least the
constitutional provision of cancelling elections will give him another two good
years to finish up his clandestine plans he has for northern Nigeria.

Even if Goodluck will be declared the winner, its unlikely the supreme court will not overturn his
‘victory’ as being sworn the third time which is a clear breach of the constitution.
On this straw of hope which he knows and the northern politicians that are
silently crawling behind him also want to make a ladder to the presidency.

Our politicians can be that childish.

Its only now the PDP and APC as political parties that can salvage Nigeria. The PDP should field any
candidate other than Goodluck. His luck has expired. The APC should field any
other candidate other than Buhari. His time has expired. The natural thing to
do when there is an allergic reaction is to avoid the allergens. Good luck is
an allergen to Northern Muslims and Buhari is an allergen to Christians. Can’t
we be treated with non-allergens? PDP and APC please think twice!

    Finally what
disqualifies the two is their recalcitrancy. It’s a popular view that nobody
can approach them with what they don’t want to hear. The 18 page open letter by
a political mentor confirms it. I heard reliably through the grapevines
Goodluck saying: ‘people think he is mumu, he will give out power to another
person’. He has forgotten only great leaders do that for peace, stability and
tranquility. He is definitely not one, and that is what further disqualifies
him. Buhari also cannot be advised. That is legendary. He believes in himself
only. So if before ascending to power, he is unapproachable, when he gets power
he will just turn into another Pharoah as nobody has the monopoly of wisdom and
    no man is indispensable.

If the two, will mutually step down for completely different people, then
please spread the good tidings for a peaceful Nigeria. Otherwise we pray for
    God’s indulgence.

    May Allah decree what is
    good for us. Amin.”

Hear Gunmi; “…Your Excellency, good intentions are never enough. In the past, because
of your clean records and straightforwardness you were lured by men who
want only the vanities Dunya to uproot a young democracy on the caprices
    of fighting corruption…” –

Who has ‘good’ intentions and ‘clean’ records? This is dismally irritating. It is the reason why continent Nigeria will forever remain an arena for mediocres to operate as leaders. What ‘clean’ records does Gunmi speak of? Has Gunmi heard of the infamous decrees 2&4 which were promulgated by Mallam?

Fela was beaten to pulp, and stripped bare before being jailed under his regime…all bcos he sang a song. The evidence is live on youtube. Confirm it yourself…Journalists like Nduka Irabor, Tunde Thompson, Mr Gusau etc, many of whom spent endless months in detention without trial…Come on! I can go on and on. Lets place culpability where culpability
belongs. Yours sincerely remembers the notorious ‘Black Maria’ police
mobile prison van which was a veritable tool of opressing the masses
Gunmi now claims Mugabe is popular with. It is desecration of the noble
values held by the masses of Nigeria in your reference to their
perception of this presidential candidate Emeritus.

As an employee & ‘right hand man’ of Despot Abacha, Buhari held on tenaciously to his PTF job while innocent Chris Anyanwu (female journalist) and other journalists were bundled into Jail without trial. My K. Wiwa & the Ogoni 8 were brutally murdered etc…Yet Buhari sat tight. If he disapproved, he could have elected to resign.

Yet, Gunmi says he is popular…But what do you expect, we are told that in the city of the blind, the one eyed becomes King. This typifies such. Nonsense! The children posting comments here were not born when Buhari was on rampage locking up people for singing…only for the High Court Judge to plead for mercy from Fela for wrongful prosecution abi na persecution…But Nigerians forget easily, otherwise we would not be wasting our time discussing this Nonsense. Spiuuuussshhh…..

On a more serious note, I advise you to just take a careful look at the right eye of the Robert Mugabe of Nigeria. Do you see what I see? …I will not

Everybody knows that Christians are peaceable who endure in forbearance, until pushed to the wall
to react. All churches called a meeting last year in Lagos and declared in a communique that Christians
will not accept a Muslim governor in Lagos state next year.

Bola Tinubu’s decline and fall then started because that is the first time in Yoruba history
that the huge Christian community took such a stance against a perceived common enemy.

Islamism means the deliberate mis-use of Koranic verses to usurp
      the executive powers of a country to the exclusion of all non-Muslims;
through a combination of threat, stealth and terror – including bribes given to stupefy

  • DecodeDaRiddle

The Sheikh is definitely divisive and it is a game well played to achieve two things:
    1- unalloyed followership
    2- conversion
I will explain: The man expected the “security votes from GEJ but didnt come and has categorically said that Buhari will seal it. Now the expose is this: GEJ upon seeing this will be converted to do the needful for votes through the man’s political-religious base
2- He has identified those that he controls presently under the unalloyed followership program.

He failed on several accounts to hide his beef for GMB but the discerning will see through his antics. He said his father prevailed upon GMB and so now it is the turn of the son. Let me put it this way, the father prevailed upon GMB not to push a fellow Hausa out but the question to be asked is, how did a civilian know of an impending coup?
Also now he is asking GMB not to contest because: the younger ones have come to him to shout on the roof top. I say so because, Kwankwanso has not hid the fact that GMB is his stumbling block. Also, the man has further exposed himself because he could have counseled GMB directly but chose to make a show of it.
See, in this very article, he used religion to account for the poor judgement he has, else, why will he say that the christian votes will be total for GEJ and muslim votes for GMB? He has no knowledge that presently, the people of the country have since made up their minds that enough is enough. GMB is not even the flag bearer yet and all his adversaries are showing up. I suppose that what Nigeria needs now is a super structure based on the yearnings of hardworking and honest Nigerians home and abroad. This apostle of stomach infrastructure needs to know that when such is in place, his quaranic schools will see the light and people will embrace the spirit of brotherly love that has since eluded us, hence his veiled reference to the “real Boko Haram”. We can do away with these men that dont mean well for Nigeria, let them remain in the past…..Nigeria needs to move on. To the reference that Nigeria will be engulfed in flames should GMB win or lose, it is a palpable fear even if GEJ wins, so 2019 is just postponing the evil date and buying time for those who want to foment trouble. We are ready to embrace our destinies now, we are wiser and may decide to speak with one voice through our votes.

    • Lala

Right on point bro. Religious leaders of all hue are the major stumbling blocks to peace, developmenr, progress and prosperity in the great nation but whether they like it or not God in His infinite mercies will break the shackles so that as a people we can realise our manifest destiny.

  • Screw-em

Oritsejafor ( the fake pastor & thief), Gumi ( the blind fool-aks Sheik)i and Asari Dokubo (the despicable thug) all share similar “titles”-APOLOGIST for the criminal regime of Humpty Dumbo GEJ. The aforementioned “clerics” cum “advisers” will only wish Buhari away but unfortunately come 2015, He will be sworn-in as Nigeria’s NEW President. We will be waiting for the crabs to crawl out of the swampy barrels of Niger Delta with Dane Guns between their armpits ready to shoot themselves back to the marine world of “Dummydom”. South Africa’s Mandela was in his 70’s when he lead them a few years ago. Age indeed!!….I have always said the fear of BUHARI is the beginning of wisdom.

    • Enemona

The fear of Bihari is driving people mad. The gang up has already started. You should be scared when you’re corrupt but it doesn’t just affect the thieving elite but the entire monstrous system corruption has created.

A system creates its own beneficiaries so it is not just the elite that fears Buharis ascension but the army of internet rent-boys who swarm every forum to spew their ignorance on subjects that are normally beyond their intellect, the pastors and imam who serve as spiritual security to the elite and in turn have their pockets lined, the traditional rulers who always seek rentier income from the corrupt elite, the civil service chiefs who steal billions, the military chiefs who siphon funds meant for equipping the military institutions etc. These are the monsters created by our present system.

The fortunate thing is that they’re in the minority in a democracy. This kind of system can only be sustained in a military regime. The teeming majority of Nigerians want an end to this scam and for sure it will end but not without a fight from the monsters. But it is the last breath from a dying system, they know it’s over and it’s the reason for all these apprehensions. Bihari to take over and lay the foundation for a prosperous and united country where peace, justice and progress would reign supreme.

some people pretended not to understand the implications. The truth is that a man
who does not give a damn about leading by character or accountability cannot inspire

Robinson, point of correction, the President did not say he does not give a damn about declaring his assets, what the president said ““The issue of PUBLIC ASSET DECLARATION is a matter of PERSONAL PRINCIPLE. That is the way I see it, and I don’t give a damn about it, even if you criticize me from heaven. When I was the Vice President, that matter came up, and I told the former President (late Musa Yar’adua) let’s not start something that would make us play into the hands of people and create an anomalous situation in the country. “THE LAW IS CLEAR. A PUBLIC OFFICER SHOULD DECLARE HIS ASSETS, and if there are issues, then the relevant agencies would have a basis to assess whether you have amassed wealth or not. When it is said that people should declare their assets in public, it is not only the President or the vice President, it includes everybody, including Ministers”.

The Law on the issue of asset declaration is very clear. Every public officers must declare their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau before taking office, which the president has done, but there is nowhere under any law in Nigeria which says such declaration must be declared publicly. If Nigerians want access to the President asset declaration it is very simple. President Johnathan has signed the Freedom of Information act (FOI) into law. Under that law any Nigerian can apply to the Code of
Conduct Bureau and get a copy of the president’s asset declaration form. Freedom of Information act (FOI) makes it a criminal offense for the Code of Conduct Bureau to deny you access to the information

    Dear Editor Premium Times:

SHEIKH GUMI AND THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

I am very dis-appointed. I expected to read plausible solutions, not a litany of platitudes from Sheikh Gumi. The road not taken by Sheikh Gumi is the obvious solution, not the wrong idea he bandied that stability be sought first but at the expense of the laws of Nigeria prohibiting official thefts. Such panacea makes no sense. Nigerians are fairly educated and can make sense of the utter chaos in Iraq today. The world itself is coming round to accept the lesson of Iraq that merely having a country comprising 100% Muslims; like Iraq is, will not guarantee peace.

“The Muslim Shiite can never live in peace with the Sunni Muslim!”, a fighter bracing AK-47 told Al Jazeera this morning on the Kurdistan frontline of the Iraqi free-for-all-fight over an Islamic state. So, if Muslim Sunni can’t live with Muslim Shiite, how can there be real unity between Muslim Sunni, Muslim Shiite, Muslim Salafists (represented by Boko Haram), on one hand; and, Catholics, Anglicans, Cherubims, Methodists on the other hand, all interspersed with traditional religionists?

It can never work. The serious-minded advice is to rather assess the pros of constituting a totally separate Islamic State of Nigeria in the north-west and north-east of Nigeria. No one’s rights will be violated by it. That’s the solution. Christians in those northern areas will then be legally entitled to settlement lands in the Christian State of Nigeria where the resident southern Muslims still desiring domination, or yearning for an Islamic state, will reciprocally be entitled to lands in the north-east or north-west under the settlement terms of a deed of partition.

    • Otile

This is exactly what Col Muammar El Gaddafi suggested but our dimwit Dauda Mark cursed him out. Since Northerners occupy all the important position even with the President under their armpit, they are the only ones who can give peace to Nigeria. Any war ever fought in Nigeria is always initiated by Northerners.

The only solution s to divide Nigeria, we don’t want them to wipe us out since violence is a way of life for them. If other tribes are afraid to go let them allow Igbo to go without attacking them again.

Death to Gowon. Death to Danjuma. Death to Terrorists.

Your lack of understanding is so breathtaking that I find you pitiable. Unless you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you can never understand His words. Those who believe and have received in their hearts God’s word as written in the Bible know that they are enemies of those that haven’t. So yes if my following Jesus makes my brother against me so be it. God’s word as written in the Bible is the sword that separates one person from another. That is the meaning of that scripture. But I am not surprised that you think it is talking about violence since the prophet of Islam is documented to have murdered and beheaded quite a number of people in a campaign of terror and violence just as his followers in different parts of the world are doing. So I can perfectly understand why you would look for scriptures from the Bible that suits your violence predisposition. I hope by my explanation that I have thoroughly disappointed you. Jesus in His life lived a life of peace and so He is the Prince of peace. Muhammed on the other hand was known for violence and so it is impossible for Islam to give what it doesn’t have – peace.

      Quoting Dr. Eke,

“However, is it not rather strange that when Sheik Gummi looks at Nigeria he sees avarice only in Christian leaders, when the same disease also afflicts our political leaders? It would seem hypocritical to turn a blind eye to the greed and avarice of our politicians which is fuelling corruption in Nigeria when giving a sermon on covetousness and concentrate only on Christian leaders. What has Sheik Gummi said about the criminal remuneration of our politicians? What has Sheik Gummi said about the billions of Naira Northern governors have wasted in ostentatious living while the region is overrun by Almajiris because of Islamic teachings and attitude to women and children? Why is Sheik Gummi not trying to understand that the real reason for Boko Haram is what Islam teaches its adherents and attempt to point the people to what is just, the path of understanding, peace and love? Why has Sheik Gummi not preached against Boko Haram assertion that western education is sin? It is simply naive to say the least, for Nigerian leaders political and religious to ignore the fact that criminality in many societies is related to the, traditions, what the prevalent religions teaches and attitude of the predominant religion to women. ” Dr. Eke

Pastor Jonnes, are you living on this planet earth or in mars? Are you telling the whole world that Dr. Kayode Fayemi is a moslem? Or Dr. Odigei Oyegun, APC national chairman is their to advance the course Islam? Or PDP national chairman Alhaji Adamu Muazu and DR. GoodLuck Jonathan are their to protect the interest of Christians in Nigeria? What is the essence of going to school, if you can not see beyond your nose? Are still in deep slumber or you are awake? All the in- competencies and mediocrity exhibited by this government is not even enough for to vote this government out, what will? Boko Haram is the creation of Senator Ali Modu Sherif and PDP led government anyway!Things that are unfolding recently testify to that. Meeting between President Jonathan ,President Idris Deby of Chad and Ali Modu Sherif clearly tells who is who in Boko Haram insurgency whether you like or not.

    • wode

Mr Pastor, I think you need to read your comment again and think about it this time. Those of you brainwashed with religious bigotry and got hallucinated with a phantom idea of an “Islamic agenda” are of the same class with Boko Haram, also product of brainwashing. You need to think deeply and liberate yourself from the grip of those using you.

Was it not this same country we were when OBJ was made president and most Yoruba Christian failed to support him claiming that it’s Hausa/Muslim party he belongs to and that he would only do their bidding and virtually all of them belong to AD, which was later crushed in SW by the OBJ’s historical sophistry to take overt the entire SW. If not only Tinubu that stood his ground, and later transformed Lagos AD to AC/ACN, and now part of APC, Nigeria would have remained largely a one-Party state. Now that Jonathan is in power, the so-called Hausa/Muslim party is no more what it was termed.

It puzzles me each time I see that people complain of underdevelopment, rife corruption index, no power supply, brain-drain, lack of Job, insecurity, all built on bad leadership, and they make themselves ready to be hoodwinked again by politicians in the name of religious and ethnic reasons at the time of election.

There is no doubt, this country won’t be better until the Nigerians say no to the deception by politicians, divide-and-rule for parochial interest of the few, bad governance and we decide to vote purely on personality and record of the candidates.

  • Muscomide

That Gumi sees Buhari’s strict and obsessive rejection of corruption as a flaw and character weakness in the man says it all really. Unlike Buhari’s, Gumi’s own brand of Islam is tolerant of corruption. Sadly, Gumi fails to understand the direct link between the hydra headed monster that is corruption and the turmoil and insecurity in the land today.
In Gumi’s own words to Buhari paradoxically, ‘today, the corruption you (Buhari) were deceived to fight against has reached an unimaginable level coupled with the worst state of insecurity and peace in the nation’. Any logical thinker would see in this statement a clear vindication of Buhari’s zero tolerance stance of corruption. Left unchecked, rampant corruption will lead NIgeria into a Hobbesian state of nature, where the impunity that pervades the land today will be child’s play in comparison.

  • True Nigerian

Are we beginning to see the faces and hear the voices of those who tried to kill Buhari in Kaduna? The enemies of the dream for a national rebirth in Nigeria are beginning to show their faces one after the other. If you’re not smart, you’ll think they are speaking out of patriotism and national interest; but if you look closer and wait patiently to let the facts emerge, you will soon be shocked to discover that they are speaking to further the satanic stranglehold of their narrow selfish interests on Nigeria.

Selfish Sheik Gumi, please listen and listen very well – Younger Nigerians like me would rather have octogenarians of Buhari’s character, consciousness and credibility than to have conscienceless youths like Reno Omokri, Reuben Abati, Farouk (Dollar cap) Lawan, Labaran Maku, Jonathan or Dimeji Bankole.

In just two days, Gumi has issued 2 statements to demonstrate his aversion against Buhari without really giving us the reason and history behind his disapproval of Buhari (all the reasons he has been fronting are ostensible ones). The real reason will shock Nigerians – that Buhari is anti-establishment and will not be afraid of the enemies of this country when he identifies them.

I have always doubted Buhari’s quality as an alternative. But the fact that corrupt Northern elites are worried by the thought of a Buhari Presidency tells me something about the man. Why are the most elitist northerners afraid of Buhari? The Northern elites spend ages arguing that power should go to the North. But as soon as they see that Buhari could win the Presidency, they suddenly become less keen about a Northern Presidency. It is quite telling about the man called Buhari. And that suspicion is one good reason why I will not hesitate to cast a protest vote in Buhari’s favour. If a man of Jonathan’s horrendous uninspiring quality is considered good enough for this country, then surely Nigeria can’t get any worse under Buhari. I don’t expect a consensus on this view. The truth has many enemies, including those whom it will help, especially in Nigeria. People say he is too Islamic, but fundamentalist Islamic sheiks are ganging up against the man and trying to isolate him.

I know he was a dictator, but Obasanjo was one too. So what?

The fact that the worst enemies of this country (IBB, Obasanjo, Danjuma, etc) do not want Buhari in power is exactly why I will urge other ordinary citizens of this country to reconsider what they’ve been made to believe about this man called Buhari. I have suspected and distrusted him for years, but this time, he will surely get my support and vote. Enough is really enough.

    • Muscomide

I hope on Election Day, you follow through on this and vote GMB

  • wode

The pieces of advice look unpalatable to a lot who see hope in Buhari presidency. It’s bound to be so. Truth they say is bitter. But, most of the time when respected men of God talk in this sense, they are largely talking to the wise and dispassionate ones who are not carried away by momentary sensation and euphoria of a “promising” future. A Muslim cleric wont say he sees vision, he would rather choose diplomacy in his choice of words. A great Islamic Scholar once advised MKO not to go close to contesting 1992 presidency, in deviance to this advice, MKO went ahead and all that happened remain a history known to all. It simply led to the end of MKO. People of wisdom need to think deeply.

  • GoodCitizen

The dog that will get lost will not listen to whistle of the hunter. The janjaweed army and their e-rats counterpart will urge the man on by all means. Buhari is bad market no amount of whitewashing will make him sellable. The so popularity of Buhari in the north is overrated. That Buhari stand no chance of winning convincingly in the north east and north central is a fact difficult for die hard supporters to accept but it’s the truth. The so called popularity of APC in south west is a wishful thinking. There are no points to support the fact that APC can successfully sell Buhari in south west. South East and South South is a no go area for Buhari all things being equal. Amaechi and Okorocha are bad market who did not play their card well by making too many enemies for themselves. The two have failed woefully to build bridges across the nation and are at best local heroes and champions. Oshiomhole may be can appeal to majority because of his moderate approach to national sensitive issues. He is neither a weakling nor confrontational in his approaches. Fashola is too weak and susceptible to the whims and caprices of his benefactor BAT and there IS no reason he will ever change that as a president.

  • Omo Oodua

The Sheik has spoken! Let those who have ears hear and the deaf continue to keep mute. The committee set up to look into the 2011 post election crisis recommended that Buhari shouldn’t be allowed to contest but many people termed it to be a bias report. People tend to forget easily that the root of Boko Haram and crisis in this country is this man called Buhari who have been inciting his people against the country since 1999 he lost the Presidential election. This man called Buhari has never deemed it fit to condole with the families of the people killed during each crisis in the North nor condemn it, but has always ignite more fire to this already engulfed nation. The point is that Buhari can never win any election in this country, no matter the noise he makes about the election being rigged or not. Am sure Buhari knows this very well but he just want this country to be destroyed as long as he doesnt get to the seat of power. Many gullible people seem not to understand the motive of this man called Buhari, they believe he is the messiah but have not really sat down to think why this man’s heart is full of hate and incitements for his fellow human being. Sheik Gumi lives in kaduna with Buhari and definitely knows better than many Nigerians who haven’t even seen Buhari before but are blindly following and supporting him because of his regime of 1985 which he wasn’t even the man in charge. (that was why no single bullet was fired when he was overthrown while the man in charge Tunde Idiagbon was tricked out of the country). I want people to know that Nobody is afraid or scared of Buhari not even GEJ because he Buhari can never defeat GEJ in any Presidential election 10 times, but can only succeed in inciting people to take up arms against other innocent people when he eventually loose the election, which has been a normal norm with him. Even in his household, Buhari is also a wicked man who presently is denying his son in-law of the property of his late wife who happens to be Buhari’s daughter. More revelations is coming on this man called Buhari and the many atrocities he is committing to the extent that even his family members dont want him to be President of this country.

    • Factual

You are a BIG LIAR. From your rubbish, it seems you don’t have any concrete reasons to hate Buhari. You said Buhari has been inciting people since 1999 when he first lost the election. Did Buhari contested in 1999? When did he join politics? This shows how ignorant and biased you are. Next time check your facts before commenting.

      • D’man

where did you see 1999, remove alomo from your eyes and read all over again

  • Gumi has a right to his opinion. He shouild not however masquerade as as talking for God. He is being used by the Vagabonds-in-power, who are very desperate to stop BUhari from contesting against their goodluck Joe. It is in the same vein as the Politico-Pastpr Bosun Emmanuel, who tried but failed woefully to dissuade Christians from voting for any Muslim and saying that Joe is the best thing to happen to Nigeria. Nigeria is tired of Badluck Joe and the only person, who has a chance of unseating him is Buhari. Again, Nigeria’s front-line problem is corruption and the only tested persons, who can boldly handle this are Buhari and Ribadu. Obasanjo was expected to have done this but flesh made him to be compromised. We have been going down since Jonathan ascended the ‘throne’ as a nominal leader as many ruffians and rif-raffs have ben using (exploiting) him to achieve their ends at the wicked expense of Nigeria and Nigerians. Only those in the kitchen and boys quarter of power want their gooluck to continue. How many private jets are in Nigeria now? How many were there when Jonathan ascended the Seat? This is food for thought. Joe is like a baby who has no sense of good and bad once he gets what he wants and he pleases his army of sycophants. TAN, Joe’s baby of praise singers, has spent billions of Naira and Dollars proclaiming to high heavens the goodness of Joe. Where is the money coming from? All his Ministers present and prospective are falling over themsleves to associate with TAN. Nigeria indeed, what a Country!!!!!!!

    Sir,

Now we can see that pristine truth unfolding. To me, the beating of the Ekiti High Court Judge, recently, is a warning shot
and a portent of deadlier violence to come in the next few weeks across the country. I actually see mass killings in the wake of the politics of thefts in Nigeria.

Political parties in Nigeria, without exception are comprised of career criminals intent on stealing the treasury. The issue is not about one candidate or the other, as Sheikh Gumi misunderstands it.

In that contest of rogues, voters are invited to choose their preferred thieves. Nigeria then declines and falls whichever gang of thieves is selected at the polls. This is the issue. The right conclusion to draw is that this is not democracy. Rather, Nigeria is is now fully under the rule of thieves.

    • Figaro

      @ Alade:

You are right for taking Sheikh Gumi out of the box to see the bigger picture.

Are you saying that Buhari is the only Nigerian capable of ruling this country? Are you saying that if Buhari dies today that Nigeria will collapse? The cleric could not have presented a much better picture of the situation in his own objective view.

From the broader view – Buhari has a terrible cv and far too many history texts from home and abroad confirm that his anti-corruption crusade was selective. He is gaffe prone (the most misquoted Nigerian always needing his statements to be reinterpreted), a bigot of enormous proportions(asking Muslims to vote only Muslims) and a supporter of Boko Haram (they named him trusted negotiator, he said an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north).

Recently, he has tried to condemn Boko Haram but we heard those radio interviews from Kaduna. The man is not only unsuitable to unite Nigerians, he is intellectually a misfit and where he from a country where merit actually works, he’d have been told the truth: he’s a serial loser who should better retire from public speaking or appearances.

      • tijan kabba

So what you have said in all of this long words is that we should continue under the tyranny and blatant corruption of GEJ. Life is so full of Ironies… During the Afonja war the Ibos fought alongside the Yorubas against the Hausa-Fulani invasion of Kwara/Illorin. However, during the Nigerian civil war the Yorubas fought alongside the Hausa-Fulani against the Ibos… I wonder how the battle would be in 2015… Who will fight alongside each other against Jonathan? Yorubas are suspecting the Ibos; The Hausa Fulanis are wooing the Ibos and the Ibos, who have no rallying point for now, after the Death of Ojukwu, are just a confused lot…..

    • omo56

Ibos fought alongside the Yorubas against Hausa-Fulani invasion of Ilorin? Woa. Where did you learn this? Ibos came all the way from the east to aid Yoruba? Who or from who did you learn this “history”?

First, Afonja was sent to Ilorin by the then Alafin of Oyo to govern Ilorin. Afonja betrayed the Alafin and with the help of Fulani defeated Alafin’s army and became ruler of Ilorin. Afonja in turn was betrayed and overthrown by the Fulani.

Yoruba made several attempts to reclaim Ilorin none of which was successful. Dan Fodio’s effort to rule Yoruba followed and he was unsuccessful in this.

Zik chose to align himself with the Hausa-Fulani and was made a figure president. The north and the east conspired to declare state of emergency in the West. Ibos are not confused and no one needs to woo Ibos

As for your claim that Ibos fought alongside Yoruba. I guess after that war Ibo founded Lagos

been identified as Corporal Nathan Cirillo. In the second, a gunman entered
Parliament building, and as shots echoed round the building, the city went into
shock. The gunman was shot dead by a security official and even as this article
goes to Press, the police are still searching the city for possible accomplices.”

“The gunman was shot outside the Members of Parliament’s
caucus rooms, where they were in discussion. The identification of the gunman
is at present “male”, and there is a name referred but this is being
investigated as being a possible alias. The Canadian authorities have not
dismissed the possibility that this was a terrorist attack, possibly linked to
Islamic State. On Monday, a Canadian soldier was mortally wounded when he was
run over by a radicalized Moslem, who was shot dead after the incident.”

Islamism means the deliberate mis-use of Koranic verses to usurp
      the executive powers of a country to the exclusion of all non-Muslims;
through a combination of threat, stealth and terror – including bribes
given to stupefy Christian pastors and prelates into a false belief that
the monopoly of state power by Muslims is only accidental, so that in turn,
the Christian Pastors could be coaxed to mis-preach to their
church congregation to forget about the Muslim monopoly
of the kingdom of this earth, and instead, look up to the skies
with the future hope of inheriting the kingdom of God.

      …….The Koranic Verses Islamists Mis-use:

“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve.
Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” (Koran 8:12),
“And fight with them until there is no more fitna (unbelief) and religion should be only
for Allah” [Koran 8:39]. “Fight those who believe not in Allah; nor the Last Day, nor
hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor
acknowledge the religion of Truth (Islam) – even if they are

of the People of the Book (i.e Christians) – until they pay the Jizya,
with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. [Koran 9:29].”

      …………………………………

“Under Islamic law, Jizya or jizyah (Arabic: جزية‎ ǧizyah]; is a per capita tax levied on a section of an Islamic state’s non-Muslim subjects who meet certain criteria. The tax is and was to be levied on (all) able-bodied
adult males of military age, but with specific exemptions.”

You also forgot about these verses of your Bible too

        1. (17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man). (Numbers 31 : 17 -18)

        2. (34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.) (Matthew 10:34-36)

        3. (2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them) (Deuteronomy 7:2)

        4. (16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you.) (Deuteronomy 20 : 16 -18)

        5. (10 So the assembly sent twelve thousand fighting men with instructions to go to Jabesh Gilead and put to the sword those living there, including the women and children. 11 “This is what you are to do,” they said. “Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin.”) (Judges 21 : 10)

I’m waiting for your responses, if you can. Thank you

With due respect sir, your suggestion may still not solve the problem because as long as a Nigerian will be in charge of the country, he will have to come from one section of the country, and that alone means that people from the other part of the country will see him/her as an enemy. If you say someone from another country should come and rule the country then it only means that we are gonna be slaves.

As for the general’s intent to be the president, I know that will come at a great cost and one can only pray that such will not burn the country down. the problem is not because of his integrity, it has nothing to do with it, it is because Nigeria, the corrupt people have deep roots in the polity that they are practically everywhere in the administration.
May Allah make the best choices for the general, amin.
