  • Femi

Imagine THEODORE AHAMEFULA ORJI, Omisore Iyiola, National awards? Really funny.

    • Steve

Its called scrapping the bottom of the barrel to come up with a list. They go for the worst set of ppl, when the govt knows fully well that the best mind will reject the JOKE AWARD.

  • Mary Laja-Payne (England)

    HONOUR AMONGST THIEVES

Goodluck Jonathan’s honourees are look-alikes in morals, but that’s also why this award list is quite flawed

‘Honour amongst thieves’, as idiom, means that likes must be treated alike; without unfair discrimination.
A list purporting to honour Peter Odili is flawed for excluding James Ibori, as an obvious example of the flaw.
I find neither rhyme nor rhythm in treating James Ibori differently since he’s entitled to the bogus title of GCON –

as his own badge of dishonour, which Nigeria’s NATIONAL HONOURS LIST looks like in public view of late.

    • Vivian

      @ Mary Laja-Payne:

“The rule becomes “we must treat the insiders, the other thieves with honor.”
The meaning of “honor among thieves” is the idea that lying thieving bastards
can trust each other. Teams of people can accomplish more than

  • Kitunde

Tom Ikimi-Minister under Sanni Abutcher who went all over the world to justify the killing of Ken Saro-Wiwa is awarded a national Honour?? Where is Al-Mustapha on the list? Or I missed it…..Jokes….

    • Wole

Mustapha is No 68 on the original list….

    • Made

You guys forgot the grand Ali Modu Sheriff

  • Benedict

I just like the fact that Peter Odili was awarded CON……just you just like the irony???

    • Truthometer

He is a CON artist. He truly deserves it.

  • Wähala

Do people still accept these awards after the precedents of Prof. Soyinka and late Prof. Chinua Achebe?
Dumbo has demeaned everything and is now awarding medals to chauffers, taxi drivers and cooks. This annual charade should be halted since I’ve never seen anybody wearing their medals on their chests at Oshodi Bus Stop… nonsense!

  • Encore

    Re: HONOUR AMONGST THIEVES

Goodluck Jonathan’s honourees are look-alikes in morals, but that’s also why this award list is quite flawed.

    • Battle Ready

      .@Encore:

Nobody is entitled to inherit or keep stolen property. This civilization of thefts in Nigeria cannot stand.
It never stood in history but was always brought to an end in the bloodiest way never once witnessed.
Nobody is entitled to keep or inherit stolen property under the laws or under the rules of common sense.

  • ifebuche

Na bad belle go kill all of una one day who keep faulting faulting faulting. He who has no sin should cast the stone first.
Congrats to the awardees. I’m sure each of them has had at least a single things spectacular that they contributed to Nigeria.
    Kudos!

    • Kitunde

It is precisely because of this type of myopic thinking that a lot of people post comments here, to teach some ideals of morality-that because someone has held a goverment position and abused it in the process makes them to have done ‘spectacular things’?
You see, when they promote and elevate the same people that have brought our nation to its knees and few of us don’t speak out, young men like you will not know any better, in fact, embrace the whole ideology and wish to be like them.-‘Steal and be celebrated’

      • King Andy

Like who exactly has stolen and is being celebrated among the list? Please lemme know with some proven facts. Thanks

        • Truthometer

Odili etc. Where am supposed to start from? Some good people and a lot of looters and unrepentant criminals as usual.

        • Made

Are you joking??? Do you need proven facts??? Isn’t your life as it is real enough?

    • King Carlos

So you think someone that has done “at least a single things” should be given a national award? Then You deserve one too, for dropping a comment.

National awards are meant to recognize outstanding individuals, but the PDP government over the years have made mess of the whole thing, I won’t be surprised if Mbu, the dog of portharcourt gets one next year.

  • Stephanie

Waste of Nations resources and money on frivolous things.

  • Rommel

This man just does not get it,anyway he is a status quo president so I am not surprised

  • sir Oscie

A mockery of the national honour and waste of tax payers money.
He should give one to ABUBAKR SHEKAU and PATRICK SAWYER to complete the list.

    • Made

      hahahaha….nice one.

  • Okache

There are people truly deserving of the award and of course as usual hardened criminals on the list.

  • Seriously

Giving Nyesom Wike national honours for what?! What of Dr. Adadevoh and her colleagues, who saved ebola from ravaging our country?

  • george

So Mr Goodluck had the courage and zeal to bestow award on Theodore Orji, Peter Odili and their likes? Hmm

  • colinas

I do not see any reason a chef / cook, gardener, or chauffeur cannot get an award or honor? What’s wrong with it?

  • Chris_Akomas

Kudos to our amiable Governor of Abia State. The man that brought peace and security to Abia State. What can one do without peace? Absolutely nothing.

    • ogbonna prime

could you please enlighten me on a few of his numerous projects…seems I’m lost.

  • Chris_Akomas

Theodore Orji is not known by those ignorant critics as a great achiever but those of us that are genuine Abians will tell you how much good this man has brought to our state. He has restored our hole and set the pace for continue growth with his legacy projects. These projects that speak good

  • Ifeanyi Chima

well merited honor, the man who has taken abia state to their next level. congratulation ochendo global.

  • Bille Chima

an honour well deserved to Ochendo…
    my kudos all the way…..

  • Sampson Charles

Its such a great news to see my distinguished governor T. A Orji (CON) on the honorary list of hall of fame 2013/2014 year. Kudos ochendo global. Indeed your transformation in abia has brought you more medals and accolades. Mr legacies congratulations!

  • imo chisom

OCHENDO GLOBAL IS THE MAN,the man behind Abia”s true development, transforming Gods own state with his legacy projects,an hon-our wel desirved ……..

  • Charles Mmadubuko

Congrats to them , especially our amiable and heard working governor, T A Orji ( Ochendo Global) the executive governor of Abia state.

    • Made

There seems to be a lot of positive feedback on Orji. Its good to know some people are still getting things done.

  • Guguru

What good is an honor from a very corrupt person? Corruption itself is anti-thetical to honor.

  • hauwa

it is a roll call of excellence. a list of men who have made impact on the society. @guguru, question is have you made any impact? if not or if you do, look at the mirror again. I applaud T.A.Orji on his incoming investiture. it is a grand prize that is long over due. he has affected the lives of many positively – real empowerment (and not on newspapers but real empowerment), road, economy, health, etc

    • Made

Sorry dear but i fail to see how the excellence has robbed off on us so far. I ain’t particular about who should be given an award because frankly NO ONE SHOULD! we should cover our selves in shame until we can boast of giving the next generation a place where they can call home, a place they can still walk to school and not be blown away by some lunatic suicide bomber; constant electricity, good roads, good drinking water, good hospitals, good education etc. The motive is what counts and not the candidates. I’ll give you an example, we had a crises of Ebola, Boko Haram, Students sitting at home, doctors on strike etc and all through this period our Senators and Reps were touring the globe in largess (aka break) never considering that they should return to work because their house (Nigeria) is on fire. They take their time and resume when they want and we line them up for awards???? If that is not sickening i don’t know what is really.

  • Regina Tambuwal

That is the President’s specialty. Giving awards!

  • katty

Pls this list is incomplete, my name ought to be on the list as most faithful citizen .

  • Anonymous11443

A list of thieves. The award paper is good for wrapping fish and pepper at the market.Nigerian awards are a dime a dozen especially under this ogogoro administration of Badluck Jonathan.

  • Anonymous11443

My ogogoro president Jonathan, how about a national award for my dog.His name is Ninja. Thanks for your kind consideration sir.

  • Anonymous11443

My dear ogogoro president Jonathan,i forgot to ask for a national award for your friend and wanted drug baron in the United States namely Buruji Kashamu.Thank you sir.May your ogogoro never finish in Jesus name I pray(or is it in Daddy GO Adeboyes name?/).Amen.

  • Chukwu Chidiebere Chido

To him the cap fits let him wear. Chief T.A. Orji deserved the Award, I want to also commend other respected Abians who was selected for the award. Kudos to you all.

    • Made

There goes the story of our underdevelopment….As long as there is an ‘Abian’ in that list you are okay! It is supposed to be an award for an achievement not a distribution by quota system. Haba!

  • izu

    All hail Ochendo Abia

    • Ikenna

The most undeserving person in this list is T. Orji, the shameless Governor of a destroyed state. Anyone who sees this as an award of merit belongs to the enemies of the good people of Abia state, especially Enyimba city.

    • ogbonna prime

You must be a retard! You promote impunity for peanuts..

  • Sekoni Adamu

The National Award in Nigeria has now become 1000 per kobo. I wonder the manner in which any of the awardees have contributed to the growth and development of the country… Na wa for jona and cohorts o!

If the steward deserves a national award for not poisoning him after uncountable drunken nights and insults from dame P, and the driver for not organising a kidnap syndicate to capture his kids, then, I wonder why the forced (sorry, first) was not also awarded with GCFR (Grammar Commander of the Federal Republic), at least for her destructive contribution to the development of English language in Nigeria.

    • Usman

that is what I am wondering about as well

  • Usman

actress acknowledged above educationalist, besides, what is the criteria for such selection?, it is worthless to me

  • ak

It is only in Nigeria that individuals who have stolen public funds are promoted and awarded with National Honour

  • ak

MR. DANLADI I. KIFASI?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? WE KNOW YOU BETTER THAN YOU YOURSELF.

  • Ada Kalu

So gald to hear this, Congratulation to our amiable Governor DR T A Orji (OCHENDO GLOBAL) on ur performance

  • Ada Kalu

Congratulation to Abia state governor and others listed too. All hail to Ochendo global, his legacy projects will keep speaking good of him every now and then. we love u HE

  • Efe1

This is a devaluation of the national award.

  • abraham ishaku

Well done mr ptesident Haters go and die

  • Ahmadu Kabiru

My worry goes to the award given to the designer of our national flag. This man has done something that is recognized internationally as Nigerian identity, so why not give him a befitting award like CFR which is well deserved than our minister looters and those whose influence does not go beyond their family and associates. Those athletes also that bring international glory to the country also deserve better than some favoured politicians. Nigeria is still a country where leaders favour sycophancy, praise singers and thuggery. God help our great nation, Nigeria.
