BREAKING: Explosion rocks Kano College, many feared dead

Former Governor Of Kano State Rabiu Kwankwaso

A series of explosions have rocked a Federal College of Education in Kano killing many and injuring others, witnesses say.

The spokesperson for the military Joint Task Force, Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed the attack. Mr. Eze said government troops have arrived at the school, but did not give further details.

The Police Commissioner for Kano State told PREMIUM TIMES he would provide details later as he was on his way to the scene of the attack.

Residents of the area and witnesses say several explosions occurred at the school, followed by sporadic gunshots at about 1.30pm Wednesday.

They said armed men invaded the institution after killing a security personnel at the gate. The attackers later threw improvised explosives at students and shot those who tried to escape, the witnesses said.

The area has been deserted as residents and students scampered for safety, our reporter said.

Details later…
