The government officials who shut down the private hospital said it was too dirty.
The Kano State Ministry of Health on Wednesday sealed the Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital, Kano, for poor hygiene, and operating without adequate staff.
The Private Health Facilities Inspections Unit of the ministry carried out the exercise.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the ministry, Isma’ila Gwammaja, said the closure was due to the poor sanitary condition of the hospital.
The statement said the Special Adviser to the state governor on private hospitals, Salisu Ibrahim, led the team on inspection of the hospital’s facilities.
According to the statement, the special adviser said the current administration has placed high premium on health care delivery and will not allow any irregular operation by hospitals and clinics.
It said that Mr. Ibrahim directed that the hospital remain shut until its management conforms to proper medical practices.
Responding on behalf of the hospital, the head of Administration and Finance Department, Adamu Jibril, pledged to address all lapses identified by the inspectors.
