The robbers struck for several hours’ unchallenged

 
Armed robbers on Monday attacked motorists plying the Abeokuta-Igboora road, reportedly killing two people.

Nine people also got gunshot wounds from the robbery, which lasted several hours.

The robbers took advantage of the Maya and Oja-Oba markets, which opened on Monday in Igboora, to launch the attack on the motorists, and traders plying the road. They completed their attack and left the scene before he police arrived.

PEMIUM TIMES learnt that the gunshot victims were receiving treatment at the Mak-Mercy Hospital in Igboora town as at Monday evening.

A nurse at the hospital, who did not want her name in print, confirmed that the victims were receiving adequate treatment at the hospital.

She also claimed that two of the victims died.

The robbers attack occurred 24 hours after armed robbers attacked some communities in neighbouring Lagos State killing nine people including two policemen.

The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, Monday, ordered the Lagos police to fish out the robbers who wrecked havoc on the state.
