Katsina flood: Association rebuilds house for 70-year-old victim

Youth group rebuilds 70-year old woman’s house that was brought down by the recent flooding in the state.

The Makarahuta Youth Development Association in Daura, Katsina State, has embarked on rebuilding the house of a 70-year-old woman which collapsed during the recent flood in the town.

The woman, Hafsat Haruna, was rendered homeless two weeks ago.

“We are rebuilding the house through self-help effort for Malama Hafsat as she deserves to be assisted because she is old and alone,” Ghali Sale, the Chairman of the association said.

Mr. Sale said the association and some philanthropists wanted the woman to regain her house

According to him, some philanthropists in the town donated working materials while members of the association would provide the labour for the project.

He gave the assurance that the house would be completed in three weeks, adding that members of the association were committed to completing the work on schedule.

Mr. Sale appealed to other associations in Daura and other parts of the state to assist flood victims.

In her response, Mr. Haruna, who was moved to tears, thanked the association and other people who contributed toward rebuilding her house, and prayed Allah to reward them for the gesture.
