The lecturers, all of the same department, were forced off the road into a river by a trailer.
Twenty four hours after an accident killed four lecturers of the Igbinedion University, Edo State, their bodies are yet to be removed from the wreckage.
The lecturers, all from the Department of Business Administration, died after an auto crash near Ekiadolor in Edo. They were on their way to Benin when the accident occurred.
“Right now as we speak, my men, the police and members of other sister agencies are at the scene trying to rescue the bodies and remove the car from the river,’’ the Edo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Ken Nwagbe said at the scene of the accident.
A witness to the accident said a trailer coming from Benin, in an attempt to avoid a failed portion on the road, drove on the lane of the on-coming Audi car conveying the lecturers, forcing it to crash into the Ovia River.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Emeka Okika, confirmed the death of the lecturers, but said that he was yet to be fully briefed on the circumstances of their death.
