NAFDAC says its Ilorin store is packed full with fake products seized from markets in the town.
The National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Monday said it seized fake goods worth millions of naira during a raid on major markets in Ilorin.
Some of the goods seized include, adulterated Green peas, Dettol soap, Dettol disinfectant, Jik bleach, Spaghetti, among others.
The fake goods were seized at Oja Tuntun, Yoruba Road and Oja Oba markets, respectively.
The state Coordinator of the agency, Phebean Odu, said that the agency’s store is full of adulterated goods, including edibles seized from the various markets.
She called on manufacturers of products to partner with the agency to ensure that product faking becomes a thing of the past and the culprits brought the book.
Ms. Odu said that the raid would be a continuous exercise and called on members of the public to help the agency with information to aid its work of safeguarding the health of the nation.
The coordinator expressed regrets that many innocent people have died or been hospitalised because of substandard products.
She said that the agency would step up efforts to get to the root of all the substandard products seized from the markets.
