Adamawa Polytechnic dismisses 2 lecturers for misconduct

The Head of the Business Administration department and a lecturer have been dismissed for altering the results of over 100 students.

The authorities of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, have dismissed two lecturers for gross misconduct.

Bobboi Umar, the Rector of the Polytechnic, who announced the action to newsmen in Yola on Thursday, said the lecturers were dismissed for altering the 2010/2011 examination results of more than 100 students.

“This condemnable offence violates the Adamawa State Polytechnic rules and regulations, the laws of this land and common human psyche.

“It is an act of gross misconduct that cannot be tolerated. The polytechnic rules and regulations provide that this grievous act attracts dismissal.

“Management has sought for and obtained government approval to implement the provisions of our rules and regulations with respect to the criminal offence.

“Consequently, Mr Peter Mamman Kappe and Mr Solomon Bulus, both of the Department of Business Administration and Management, College of Administration and Business Studies, are hereby dismissed from the service of Adamawa State Polytechnic with immediate effect,” Mr. Umar said.

The rector said the two lecturers were found wanting by two separate committees set up to investigate the matter.

He said that Mr. Kappe, who was the head of department, and Mr. Bulus, who was the acting examination officer of the department, tampered with results submitted to the department by lecturers before passing the tampered lists to the school authorities.
