Two people have been confirmed dead with properties worth millions of naira destroyed in floods that ravaged seven Local Government Areas in Adamawa State.
The Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Shadrach Daniel, confirmed the development in an interview on Wednesday in Yola.
He identified the affected Local Government Areas as Numan, Demsa, Madagali, Mayo-Belwa, Yola North, Yola South and Guyuk.
“Farm lands, houses and livestock were affected by the flood as a result of heavy down pour over the past two days”, Mr. Daniel said.
“We are now going round the affected Local Government Areas for proper assessment of the flood which claimed two lives in Gbalang Village in Numan Local Government Area,” Mr. Daniel stated.
He said that SEMA had already reported the development to the National Emergency Management Agency for help.
Adamawa is one of the states listed by the Federal Government weather alert which warned that some states could face severe flooding this season.
