Two Boko Haram attacks, within one hour, led to the death of four people, the JTF says
A bomber killed himself and one other person, Wednesday, while trying to attack a military patrol van in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state said.
A soldier and two other civilians were also wounded in the attack.
The spokesman for the Borno JTF, Sagir Musa, explained to reporters how the incident happened.
“At about 10 a. m on Wednesday, a suicide bomber on a tricycle targeted a JTF patrol vehicle and missed it around Customs Roundabout in Maiduguri.
“In the process, he rammed into a moving Mercedes Benz car and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED),’’ Mr. Musa said.
The Force spokesman said the dead and the wounded had been taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
The failed bombing in Maiduguri occurs 24 hours after another failed bombing by suspected members of the Boko Haram in Kaduna. The Kaduna incident led to the death of the three bombers, who were on a motorcycle with the bomb
An hour after the Maiduguri failed bombing, the JTF foiled another attack on a market, called Monday market, in Maiduguri, leading to the death of two suspected assailants, Mr. Musa said.
“Two suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists who stormed the Monday Market with the intention of killing innocent citizens were encountered and killed by troops of the JTF,” he said
He added that two AK 47 rifles and 18 rounds of ammunition were recovered as a result of the incident which happened at about 11a.m. on Wednesday.
