Nigeria Police

The Ogun State Police Command on Monday drew the attention of hospitals in the state to the escape of an armed robber, withgun wounds. The police has asked that hospitals report any gunshot victims who may approach them for medical attention.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said, in a statement in Abeokuta, that two members of the robbery gang were killed during a gun duel with the police on Saturday.

Mr. Adejobi said the robbers had hijacked a bus with registration number XC 291 EFR belonging to a local transportation company, AGOFURE, and conveying 15 passengers. Police officers attached to the Ogbere division who were on patrol on the Sagamu/ Benin express way were quick to engage the robbers in a gun fight.

The police spokesman said the passengers were later freed unhurt by the police. While combing the area after the gun battle with the robbers, two of the robbers were found unconscious in the bush with bullet wounds. They died while being taken to the hospital.

Mr. Adejobi added that another robber escaped with gunshot wounds, hence the need to inform members of the public, particularly medical practitioners.

“The command hereby wishes to appeal to the general public, particularly medical practitioners, to be on the lookout for such wounded individuals, so as to assist the police in apprehending the fleeing hoodlums,” he said.
