Two street sweepers crushed to death by bus, in Aba

Two female street sweepers, married to the same man, were, Friday, crushed to death by a commercial bus in Aba, Abia State.

Rabiu Dayi, the Police Area Commander for Aba confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying someone called to inform him about the incident.

Mr. Dayi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, however, said he was yet to get the full details of the incident.

An eye witness said that the victims, Oluchi Onyembi and Chioma Onyembi, were married to the same man.

The witness, who did not want his name mentioned, said that the victims were hit by a 14-seater mitsubishi bus, with registration number EBONYI:  XP 775 AKL, at the popular Onwuka Nails Junction, beside Concordia Filling Station, Abayi, along Aba- Owerri road.

He said the victims, who hailed from Iheorji in Aba, were busy sweeping the road when the bus hit them.

It was gathered that Chioma died on the spot, while Oluchi was rushed to the Abia State Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH),  Aba, where she gave up the ghost.

The corpses were reportedly deposited at an undisclosed mortuary in the city.
