Ogun Electoral Commission to engage 6,676 for LG elections

The chairperson of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission( OGSIEC), Risikat Ogunfemi, has said that the commission will engage 6,676 field workers to participate in the forthcoming Local Government elections scheduled for July 21st 2012.

The OGSIEC boss stated this at the training for the field workers in Abeokuta Grammar School, Ogun State. According to her, the field workers consist of 20 electoral officers, 236 returning officers, 3,210 presiding officers, and 3,210 poll clerks.

Ms. Ogunfemi held that the training will go a long way towards achieving a credible and successful election. She  appealed to all presiding Officers to be at peace with other officers on the field, adding that election day is important as all their efforts will be crowned on that day.

The electoral boss urged the Presiding Officers to take all results, after counting,  to collation centres where they will meet with their electoral and returning officers who will declare the results before submitting to OGSIEC.

She advised the youths not to be used as instrument of thuggery and destruction during the forthcoming elections, while saying that necessary security will be provided on the election day.
